Lobster Pot Restaurant
6 reviews for Lobster Pot Restaurant
Expensive, touristy seafood. Once you get past that, it is ok.
The food was just OK on the two occasions we dined there.
As a visitor from the UK I had it clearly pointed out to, rudely, me on a laminated board ( as if I was the village idiot) that tipping of 15% to 20% in the US was the norm.
WE always tip at least this much in the UK for decent service!
This very crass & clumsy methodology ensured we did not eat there again.
Tourist trap I'm afraid & only it's location in busy Siesta Key Village means that this business succeeds.
The food is OK here. I really enjoyed the mussels as an appetizer, but they were served a little cool. I had a mixed, broiled seafood plate. The seafood was decent and the veggies were ok, but the mashed potatoes were tasteless. The key lime pie for dessert was terrible. Way too sweet.. The service here was ok. Everything about this place is tolerable, but nothing to write home about.
If you were shooting a scene for a movie set in the 50's with a couple dining in a typical New England seafood restaurant, the Lobster Pot would fill the bill. The cuisine here is equally old school; most of these recipes probably date back to the Hoover administration. But that's OK. This is great food, fresh-tasting and satisfying in every respect. I had the baked stuffed lobster "Duchess", the specialty of the house. I usually like my lobster with nothing more than a tiny coating of melted butter, but this dish was expertly done and afforded a luscious melange of shrimp and lobster in every bite. Highly recommended. The service was very friendly and efficient. Next time I'm in Sarasota I look forward to a return visit.
Not sure what Dan was drinking when he went here, but this is not a very good seafood restaurant. Everything that we ate was obviously frozen and tasteless. There are many other choices to choose from when looking for FRESH seafood in SRQ....... sorry
We really liked the Lobster Pot. We called ahead for a table on a Saturday night, and were seated within 10 minutes of arriving (although, there were a few empty tables so I'm not sure why we had to wait at all). The cornbread was GREAT - we had seconds :) Boyfriend had the lobster ravioli w/grilled lobster tail and loved it. I had the blackened mahi and was a bit disappointed (it was an overcooked tail piece) - not horrible, but I've had better pieces of fish. I would try the scallops or one of the seafood pasta dishes on another visit. The atmosphere is very casual and it's definitely somewhere you can bring kids (checkered table cloths type of place).
