Oh Loblolly, what can I say about you? Well I realize that theater and types of theater settings people enjoy can differ greatly from person to person. That being said, I've attended Loblolly performances that I loved and other performances that I really did not enjoy.
The one thing I will give Loblolly credit for is sustaining a successful offbeat theater company in Pensacola. They consistently provide something different, which sometimes works out and sometimes it doesn't, but they certainly get an "A" for effort.
The theater is one small room, usually with the stage area in the center of the room with seats arranged around it. You will likely either love the intimate feel or you will hate it. I have a friend who used to do a lot of local theater and the set-up makes him very uncomfortable. I, however, much prefer it to larger settings - to each his own I guess.
The backstage area, which they sometimes open up after the performances for refreshments and discussion, is simply an adjacent room.
We are not talking anything fancy at all here, but somehow it works. -

The reason to go? Patricia Simmons acting is great! That's about it. I have been to at least 2 dozen plays at Loblolly. I enjoyed one of them. But I always enjoyed Patricia's acting. She is the only reason I go back.
