We came here to grab a quick bite before going to a baby baptism. We got a ham and cheese croissant, a chocolate raised and some sort of long donut (sorry I don't know the names) and we asked if they could fill the long thing with custard. The lady was so generous and overfilled it.
Why three stars? The croissant, which I asked them to heat up, was still cold on the inside. The chocolate icing wasn't very good. There wasn't a huge selection since they were mostly sold out - at 9:30am. I was a bit disappointed.

Lloyd's quickly won my loyalty for its chocolate ... what's it called, wreath? rosette? Well, you'll know it when you see it. It's an enormous circle of a doughnut with chocolate glaze that ACTUALLY TASTES LIKE CHOCOLATE NO KIDDING. I love a hot Krispy Kreme, but they and most other doughnut shops can't do a chocolate glaze that has any real chocolate flavor.
Cold Krispy Kremes, Safeway doughnuts, etc. get soggy fast, and all that fat in there becomes tongue-coatingly obvious. Not at Lloyd's. Sure, it's no health food, but their doughnuts somehow don't taste heavy or oily. That's the other thing I love about Lloyd's.
Ambience: Well, mid-American early 60s diner is about what you've got here. Oldtimers hanging around. I usually don't linger, though the staff are nice enough and the oldtimers probably are too.
P. S. Yes, I am a "doughnut"-spelling curmudgeon, even if Firefox's inline spellchecker doesn't like it and some of the under-20 reviewers are probably wondering what that peculiar-looking word is. Too bad! Darn kids...
Whoa... nice donuts inside! The donuts do not have the "oily" aftertaste and feel that is commonly associated. The variety is solid.
I brought a dozen to work and everyone was asking me where I got them from.
The service is nice, and the display is good and taste is refreshing

I'm usually not one to get donuts on a regular basis- in fact, the last time I actually bought a donut was over a year ago from Krispy Kreme. Going to Lloyd's was a spur of the moment decision- I needed something decadent and sweet and a donut was it.
The staff here is friendly and the place is pretty clean. They do have a lot of donuts but it was hard deciding what to get just because there weren't any labels and I didn't know which donut was which. I decided to get three donuts- an apple fritter, a chocolate glazed, and a jelly donut. I had some of each and wasn't particularly wowed. The apple fritter was just a tad over-fried and didn't have quite the apple flavor I was looking for. The chocolate glazed donut was okay, but I thought the dough was a little too yeasty. The same was true for the jelly donut, which was the most disappointing of the three donuts. The jelly inside the donut was super-runny and basically came gushing out of the donut once it was bitten. It was more like a watered down jelly than the thick jelly it needed to be.
Overall I feel a little sad that I'm only giving 2 stars to Lloyd's, but I really didn't think their donuts were good. The three donuts cost me a little over $3 and I just didn't think it was worth the cost in dollars and calories.

The big, plush, not-too-sweet, silky-yet-substantial chocolate iced donut my friend John G brought me from Lloyd's on Wednesday was like a thunderbolt from Donut Heaven, even though I have no earthly idear where Lloyd's even is. I intend to find it this weekend, though, and make it a place of pilgrimage everafter.

Get to Lloyd's early on the weekends, or you will miss your favorite (whatever that might be). The "brownie sticks" are extraordinary, and rival chichi donuts I've had in the Big City (NYC and Seattle).
I no longer live within easy traveling distance of Lloyd's, but it's certain to be a stop if and when I get back to California...

This place has been here as long as I can remember. With growing age and short term memory loss I am not sure how long that is.They have all the standard donuts here, only I think they do them better than most.
