Neighborhood: Marina/Cow HollowI have found my waxer!!!! Lizzy... I LOVE U!
As a Brazilian sporter for many years now, I know what to do, expect, pay, and feel. Liz exceeded in all departments! Hygienic enough (I'm a germ-phobe. Not sure anything shy of sterile will ever be good enough in my book), good quality wax (that's why it doesn't hurt too much), and very fairly priced.
I have found cheaper waxers, but am tired of shopping around for the ONE (dirt cheap and great). $40 for a thorough, professional wax is a bargain. Maybe she is the one.... it's too soon to tell. We've only had one date ;)
I was also 15 min late to my appointment (blaming the location... I mean, parking in Marina!?!?!). I did call to let her know I was running late and upon arrival we were both down to business. Awesome.
I have to give this place a bad review based on (1) the wax and (2) the customer service. I made a trek down there because it had good reviews. I went a few times to give it a chance. It is not that cheap. She is rough. She is not thorough and has the personality of a rock. One day I took the bus down there from Hayes valley and when I got there she informed me that she could no longer see me since too much time had elapsed. Perhaps she could of let me know by a phone call instead of waiting for me to show up. I was only 10 minutes late. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL.

Arrived here for my sister's dual lung transplant and once she was discharged from the hospital, I needed a day of physical pain...Full Brazilian! Found Liz thru Yelp and decided to try her out. My sister lives in the Marina, so I walked up to Chestnut for my day of pampering(painful pampering!). Liz is very nice and we had great conversation during the wax and rip session. She is very efficient and quick, no nonsense and knows what she's doing. Very clean environment and very relaxing.
When it was time to do the tail portion, I was a bit surprised with the technique. It was very hands on and I had never participated in such a manner before. I told my sister and she said it's very common. I told my hubby and BFF and we had a nice giggle about it.
All in all, when I come to visit my sister again, I'll definitely visit Liz for my one of a kind Brazilian! She also did my brows, lip and armpits. All for $75, what a deal I pay close to $100 for everything in Colorado.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Liz and the experience. I had a bit of a scheduling problem, and she was so open and willing to work with me and get it figured out. It was my first brazilian, and she made me completely comfortable! She is one of those women that you just want to chat with, even though she's all up in your girl bits! I'll be there as often as possible.
I was really looking forward to coming here since Liz seemed like a great find- inexpensive (as far as Brazilians go) & conveniently located by my work.
Unfortunately, the experience wasn't anything like I expected. She definitely wasn't gentle w/ her method & rushed everything. It's good if you want something "quick & dirty", but when I get Brazilians, I prefer someone who takes their time to be detailed & makes sure I'm relaxed & comfortable. She never even asked me once if I was okay, even after I had told her at one point that it really hurt.
Liz is super nice, as the Yelpers say, but niceness doesn't cut it for me when I can't even see straight during a wax. I'd rather stick w/ my favorite @ Tova Yaron Day Spa instead.

I wanted to wait until after I had been here a couple of times to review it, but I decided I really want to do at least my *initial* impression right now.
I went to Liz on Friday; I called her Wednesday and she squeezed me in just fine, not even knowing me or how desperate I was.
She was really nice, and totally sympathetic to my semi-sad story that explained why I was there. I have to admit that at the time I was sure that this wax had hurt more than other ones I've had in the past, but now that I try to remember I realized that I've blocked all the other times out of my memory, and this is the only one I can look back on with any accurate memory of the pain. So maybe it was actually less! Still really painful, but it was the most thorough wax I have ever gotten. And the pain that usually lasts a day or so afterwards was considerably less this time. All in all I am blissfully happy with what the treatment I received by Liz!
The only hard part about *finding* this place, which everyone says is hard, is that the sign on the window is slightly misleading. It does say that it is a spa, but the name is not Liz's. So just keep that in mind. I would give it a ten if i could because it is right next to so many bus lines! Yay!

I've referred so many friends to Liz over the years, and when they ask what she's like, I always inform them that "You just want to hug her". I must be getting something right, because every person I've sent to her for a facial or waxing has become a permanent client of hers. And they all want to hug, too.
Liz is so warm and so human and so fun to talk to that I would happily let her wax my eyebrows all day long if it meant I could hang out and giggle with her. I went through countless aestheticians before finding Liz, and you couldn't pay me to go anywhere else, now. Trust me on this.

Recently moved to SF from out of state. I had numerous problems with bad and expensive Brazilians in the city. Until I found Liz. She is the absolute best! Extremely fast, thorough, and sweet. Highly recommend Liz. Place is somewhat obscure so look close or you'll miss it.

i've been going to liz for about 4 years now, and i love her for so many reasons! not only is she amazing at her work (i go for brazilians) but she's also one of the nicest and friendliest people you'll ever meet.
i actually have a ridiculously low tolerance for pain, but liz is fast and gentle, and great at distracting me with good conversation. when it comes to getting a brazilian, that type of service is priceless! :) although it may be hard to get a weekend or evening appointment, liz is definitely worth the wait!
I booked a brazilian with Liz after reading all these wonderful reviews and I agree with them--she's fantastic!! She's super friendly and efficient (It'll take about 10-15 minutes. Really, that's it? YEP!) and loves to talk. We discussed Dr. Rey from Dr. 90210 as she was doin' her thing, hahaha! Oh yeah, and she only charges $40--what a steal!

For modesty's sake, let me just say that there is no other female I want touching my vagina other than Liz. I've been searching high and low for a good brazilian in this city and I will go no further than her cozy Marina-based business.
I'd go into more detail, but I want to keep it PG for the kiddies. Just know that Liz rocks.

$40 for an awesome Brazilian...can you ask for anything more? Quick, relatively painless, thorough, and reasonably priced. I've finally found my SF waxer.
I came in a few months ago to get my first ever brazilian but chickened out and got a brazini (b/w bikini and brazilian) instead. Liz was very nice and talked me through the entire session, which didn't take long at all. She's very professional, fast, and does a great job. I didn't have any bad reactions afterwards either. Thank you Liz for making this such a positive experience.

As I write this review, I am concerned that it is too much information! Way more than probably anyone wants to know about me. But I write this solely because I think that there are other women out there who really want to know about where to go for bikini waxing. Because there is nothing much worse than a bad bikini wax.
I had my first bikini wax about 7 years ago with an older European lady, who was not really sympathetic about being a first-timer. As far as I remember, she donned a pair of rose colored wrap glasses and after every rip of the muslin would move her face closer to my pelvis to get a close look at her handiwork. She had a special light that she would use to give her a better look. For some reason, her meticulous approach made me more nervous than confident. I decide bikini waxes are not for me.
Fast-forward 5 years. I start waxing my legs by myself. It takes a bit of practice. With every strip, I try to pretend that I don't know I'm about to rip out a large patch of hair. Somehow this never works. Eventually I begin to master the technique. Feeling overly confident in my newfound esthetician skills, I try to give myself a bikini wax. BAD IDEA. Never again.
Fast-forward another 2 years. I find a review of Liz on Yelp. I make an appointment for a full leg / Brazilian combo. An hour later, I am miraculously silky, unbruised, and feeling surprisingly confident. I go back to Liz another two times, and am delighted with both the experience and the results. I think about writing a glowing review, and then decide that I am just too selfish to let others know about how good Liz's services are. I think I'm petrified that she will suddenly book up months in advance and I will never be able to get an appointment.
Then for no reason, I make an appointment for a Brazilian at another salon on the Peninsula. More expensive and more painful. It takes just over an hour (Liz usually takes an hour or slightly more for legs *and* bikini) and I'm still smarting. Maybe Liz will start booking up a month in advance. But I'm willing to wait.
PS. Oil removes wax. If you feel sticky after leaving, try rubbing some of the oil Liz keeps in the bathroom on your legs.

Well, I'm sure this review will come as a shock, but I would have to say that Liz is hands down the best waxer that I've ever been to. Not only does she have a warm, sweet personality, but she is phenomenal at what she does! She makes the whole waxing experience as quick and painless as possible and always has some good conversation to boot! Plus you truly can't beat the price of $40 for a brazillian....Liz rocks!

A week later, and I'm still happy. My VERY first! and not my last...
Liz was awesome. It was quick, especially being a first timer. 15 minutes. After 2 big "OWs" in the 1st 5 mintues, the rest was easy. Yes it's painful, but women can take it.
After reading Yelp reviews, I decided to try Liz. I made my appointment 2 weeks ahead of time, just in case she was booked and I was going out of town. I left a message and she called back within an hour.
Being so far, I live 2 bridges away, I'll still go back unless someone can recommend a close one to me! Price is good and service is great. She takes cash only though. And parking is a pain over there...thats the only bad thing I can say.

Amazing! Reasonably priced. My only complaint is that since I procrastinate when it comes to waxing and then she is always booked up.
Let's just say she pulls the quickest in the City.
The greatest thing about Liz is that she loves what she does. She moved form a high tech job to Skin care job because she loves skin care. I love that and love going to someone who loves what she does.

If you can imagine that there is a person out there that actually makes the horrifying process of having hair yanked out of your privates via hot wax a fun experience; then you can imagine Liz. She was so wonderful. I made my second appointment with her before walking out. She has a personality that makes you instantly comfortable. I am so glad to have found her (thanks to Yelp!)

Yep, Liz is great. I'm a big baby when it comes to Brazilians, but Liz just chats away and makes you forget your cho-cha is being proudly displayed. She is QUICK too! Right before Christmas I realized I needed a wax real bad, and had to fly to LA the next day. I left her a message after hours, and she got back to me the next morning and squeezed me in!!! On top of her being so awesome with last minute bookings, the bus took for-ev-er and I ended up being 10 minutes late to her packed schedule. I profusely apologized while I stripped, and she had me completely waxed in 18 minutes. I think that's even a record for her. Her price is unbelievable for the city. $40 cash/check only. Anyways, I'm totally hooked.

Because of all this talk on "Brazilian" and "bikini" waxes, I just thought I'd let everyone know that Liz does guys too.
As a treat and surprise for my wife-to-be, I went to Liz to get a wax. It was my first, and understandably, particularly being a guy, I was nervous. But like everyone said, it was as painless as a wax could be. And in the end, what some could describe as a jungle was now neat, trimmed, orderly yet at the same time still looking masculine and not overtly and oddly groomed.
You do realize, I'm talking about my eyebrows, don't you?
Seriously, I went to Liz on the request of my now-wife to fix up my mild case of synophrys (go Google it) right before our wedding. Got to look good for the pictures, right? And knowing how highly my wife thinks of Liz, I didn't really have a problem going to her.
My wife has been going to Liz for a while now, mainly for facials. She raves about her to all of her friends, regardless if they're in SF or not. In fact, she loves Liz and her work so much that when her sister came into town, she gave her sister a facial by Liz as a gift. And my wife has gotten my sister excited about visiting and getting a facial from Liz. That's how much my wife loves her.
Understandably so. Liz is incredibly nice and accomodating. Plus she clearly knows her business. I know my wife highly recommends her and as a dude, if you know of a guy who wants a decent eyebrow wax that looks good, without it looking too freakishly groomed, Liz can do that for you.

I went with a friend to Liz last week. She's been there before and liked her, so I went with her this time. Liz is a really nice lady. She really stays true to her craft. She keeps her workspace very clean, and expects her clients to do the same (she asks that you freshen the area that's gonna be waxed). She doesn't overcharge...she only charges $40 for a brazilian. Very reasonable price, and she talks to you during the whole thing to help distract you from the pain. It isn't bad at all. I told her I couldn't believe how reasonable her prices were because other places charge almost double! She says she doesn't understand how other places can charge so much, especially for something that only takes about 10-15 minutes. All in all, pretty good experience. I would go back to her again. Already recommended her to another friend.
Warning: This review is all about pubes, real or imagined. Sorry, Mom.
A week or so ago I decided to switch from shaving to waxing. I woke up, thought about pubes for a minute, and realized that shaving is simply not very effective. The hair that does get shaved returns almost instantaneously, and the rest of the hair is basically impossible to remove oneself without several mirrors and an understanding of optics that I simply do not possess.
So I logged onto my trusty Yelp in search of a waxer and enlisted my trusty friend Heather to help me sort through the listings.
First, I discovered a place that specialized in interesting waxes. They had a set of standard shapes as well as the ability to do initials and custom designs. I had no idea people were doing that sort of thing. I immediately tried to decide what sort of statement I wanted to make with my pubic hair. I'm still choosing between:
* the Yelp logo
* the Batman logo
* initials that are not my own (I would then try to meet someone with those initials, start getting it on, and cause severe confusion and/or psychological damage when I remove my pants)
Just kidding. I cause severe confusion and/or psychological damage when I remove my pants as it is.
What?
Anyway, so while I was trying to decide whose initials I wanted to write on my body in pubic hair, Heather continued to Yelp for waxers and discovered Liz Dulcich. I figured for my first wax, it was better to start with something normal and move on to the strange designs later (and I was also concerned that if I spent over $100 on waxing a shape onto myself I would feel compelled to show it to everyone I knew, including, like, my boss), so on the strength of her other reviews as well as her price ($40 for the Brazilian!) I decided to choose her.
It sounds strange to describe the ripping out of one's own body hair in large clumps as fun. And I've certainly done plenty of things in my life that were more fun, like wash dishes for my entire sorority. But this experience had to be about as much fun as a bikini wax can reasonably be.
Liz was great. She immediately put me at ease when I told her it was my first time. She was very professional about the wax -- I felt comfortable the entire time. She worked quickly and did her best to alternate more painful regions with less painful ones. At the same time, she did her best to distract me by talking and asking me questions. In particular, I remember talking about the Red Sox ("I loved OW Johnny *gasp* Damon until AAH he defected") and Yelp ("My OWW friend introduced ACK me *gasp* to the site"), but I'm pretty sure Liz could talk to anyone about anything. I don't know if it was my high tolerance for pain or Liz's distraction abilities (I'm guessing the latter), but before I knew it, the wax was over, and it didn't really hurt all that much.
I'm never shaving again.
And I wouldn't go to anyone besides Liz either, except that she does not wax crazy custom logos or initials into the pubes (I asked). So stay tuned for a future review in which my pubic area proudly displays the Yelp logo...or Batman...or some random initials...

It doesn't get much better than Liz, friendly, as pain free as you can get...bummer than I had to try other places before finding her!
I wish she had a receptionist to take calls (she does book fast)...but then she would have to charge more, so I can deal with the occasional game of phone tag :)

I really hate to do this because as you can see above I really like Liz and she does a great job.The only problem is last visit I realized she doesn't change out the pot of wax or the sticks. This means health risks-don't trust me check online, all the dermatology schools I looked at would never promote anything unhygienic! When I asked Liz she said it was expensive to change out the sticks. I think we should all pressure her to raise the prices a few bucks so she can afford to change out the sticks and that way she wont lose any customers.

OK I'm totally lying. But I don't want her to get so booked up I can't get a wax! This woman is awesome. Very soft tone, and so nice and welcoming yet professional. The best Brazilian I've ever had. $40 is a steal, though you have to pay in cash & I felt awkward because you pay her directly right after so figure out your tip before hand so you're not standing there computing her tip with your calculator like me.
Pretty painless. She's awesome. If you want to get your pubic hair ripped out (which is, trust me, worth it) go to her. I felt more comfortable getting naked there than I do at my doctor!

I came here for my second attempt at a Brazilian, the first one did not go so well and I wimped out after only a few rips.
This time around I figured I'd go all the way and get a "Hollywood" instead of a Brazilian. Such ridiculous names and quite frankly there's absolutely nothing Hollywood or glamorous about getting the hair from your ass crack ripped out via hot wax. NOTHING AT ALL!!
Two Valiums, three Advil's, and a sloppily made vodka/tonic water/cranberry juice concoction later I headed out on foot to meet my doom of hair removal.
On my short and hazy walk through the Presidio and into the Marina I took note of all the happy people I saw. People who were not about to have hair ripped from their roots on their neither regions, why shouldn't they be happy and carefree. FOCKERS!
I arrived early to my two o'clock appointment, 45 minutes early in fact. This gave me enough time to continue drinking my earlier made ghetto vodka concoction which I cleverly prepared in a huge plastic Starbucks bottle.
At this point I wasn't really feeling all that nervous. I was thinking about how I can soon give up shaving if I can just get through this and go all the way this time.
Two o'clock finally came. I went inside and was greeted by Liz who is a very warm person and has this calm presence about her. Holy shit did it hurt despite being decently loaded. The pain was far less then my first experience however. 30 minutes and $50 bucks later I was done and feeling so soft and smooth and ready to celebrate some more on my walk back home. That's when I realized how Liz is by far the hottest female to date that's touched my naughty bits.

So I had my first brazilian done by Liz today and it certainly hurt but not that bad, Liz did a great job distracting me and was very kind. It was super quick and not at all irritating. The only thing is she left a few...spots, she said that she couldn't wax again and that I would have to tweeze or just wait until the next one. Sorry if this is too much detail but she left a good size spot! Im not tweezing that! plus she didn't exactly clean up, I was still kind of sticky and waxy when I walked out. I think she was in a rush, so only three stars this time but I will be back to try again because for $40 plus her sweet nature it's a great deal.

Liz is as good as they say. She's nice, quick, and doesn't charge an outrageous price for something as painfully glamorous as a brazilian. It's almost.... painless.
She's fabulous. She put me ( a virgin waxer) to ease on the phone when I called to make my appointment, and the whole time I was there, she was so sweet and reassuring, and I was SCARED. I will be going to her regularly.

i was really looking forward to seeing her for a brazilian because she is so loved on yelp. first call, no answer so i left a message. second call, no answer so i left a message. third call, no answer so i threw my phone. & she never called me back. BOOOOOOO!
I had my first bikini wax at age 15 (am now 25) and since i have moved around a lot I have experienced a number of aestheticians. I tried Liz for the first time last week and I have to say, she is great. She has the technique down and she is also very personable, which is a hard mix to find. Some of the worst waxers I have ever experienced were the nicest ladies, and the best waxer i have ever visited was a mean, unfriendly person who I was afraid of. I highly recommend Liz if you are looking for a person in SF. Also, she was very accommodating. I called on a Thursday afternoon and she squeezed me in the next morning since I was leaving for vacation Friday afternoon.

Liz is awesome! My brows look fantastic. I've been trying to get them back into shape after some terrible waxing jobs a few years ago. She is very talented, and I can't wait to go back to her for more services. It's also so nice going to see someone in such a small, quiet space rather than being shuffled through a big spa where you feel like a number.

Plus, she's incredibly sweet and fun to talk to...if you're in need of a wax, she's the best!
Update: 07/23/07 - I just have to say that since I first wrote this review back in '05, Liz has gotten even better at her job! I love going in to see her! I must be a masochist, 'cause I'm not sure who LOVES getting waxed, but that's neither here nor there.
