We came here last summer for a Midsummer Night's Dream production.  It was a crazy steam-punk-esque production.  It was really fun, entertaining, and well done.

I had practice that day in Oakland, and the guy I was dating had our tickets.  After we drove the hour or so to Livermore, he said "oh shit."  I responded, "You forgot the tickets?"

Yep.  We biked a little in Livermore and he planned to buy tickets at the door.  Luckily though, they were able to find our order and let us in without having to repay.  Yay!

Also, I expected Livermore to be warm in the summer, it was definitely not.  Hot cocoa a friend bought, sleeping bags, hats, and snuggling made the experience much better.

We just saw Lend Me a Tenor last night and it was really good.  The actors are funny, storyline is great.  It was a first time for all of us to see a play in Concannon Vineyard.  This venue is very nice since it's in winery and so the view is awesome.  Folks, if you're going....bring a blanket since it can get cold.  Some things can be improved such as the chairs.  They use the plastic chairs, same as the ones for the weddings.  It's ok for wedding ceremony, but if you're going to be sitting for 2 hours, you need a more comfy chair.  So bring a chairpad as well.  Coffees and hot chocolate were sold, but they were kind of luke warm already.  For $3 for a small cup, you may want to bring your own (although, the money is goign for a good cause), but I like my coffee hot.  Also, chocolate chip cookie was sold for $1 each which is fine.  All in all, we had a great time.

I don't remember Shakespeare ever making so much sense as it did at the Livermore Shakepeare Festival's rendition of a Midsummer Night's Dream.  It was a lovely venue - snuggled up under the blankets enjoying some Concannon wine watching delightful performers who clearly seem to be enjoying themselves and each other.

It's an impressive production - one that you know many people put hours into creating and pulling together - and yet I felt like I was at an annual neighborhood picnic sitting amongst family watching friends perform.  I would definitely recommend this ... and to make a day of it.  Livermore has some great wineries, Concannon has beautiful grounds on which to picnic and soak in the sun and after the sun sets - be sure to pack hot chocolate and lots of blankets to snuggle up under for this performance.

This was the best live performance of Midsummer that I've ever seen.  Very entertaining and easy to follow.  Elissa Beth Stebbins as Hermia and Eleanor Mason Reinholdt as Helena were my faves.  The fight scene is especially awesome, combining moves from martial arts, slapstick comedy and swing dancing.

One additional plus is that the grounds are perfect for a picnic beforehand and you can continue to sip your wine during the performance.  Just be warned that the weather is very unpredictable.  It can be really warm at night or really really cold.  Check the weather beforehand and remember that you won't be moving around, so if it's cold, go ahead and bring that down vest, hat, gloves, etc.

What a lovely evening we had last night at the Livermore Shakespeare Festival. The production of Midsummer Night's Dream was outstanding and the venue spectacular. The unusually warm evening, 3/4 full moon, beautiful sunset, and old Victorian house  provided a beautiful backdrop to this fast-paced, well done production. All of this was preceded by a delicious picnic dinner on the beautiful grounds of Concannon Winery. To top it off, parking was easy, no traffic, no freeways and just two miles from home. So nice to have this kind of entertainment right here in the Livermore Valley. I'll definitely be attending future productions.
