Live Oak Canyon Christmas Tree Farm
2 reviews for Live Oak Canyon Christmas Tree Farm
** I know it says Christmas Tree Farm...they have pumpkins, too **
*** And I hope this is the right place...there are a few of them within close proximity -- I could easily have the wrong farm ***
My idea of picking out a pumpkin is driving to the nearest grocery store and selecting one from a barrel. Easy.
The thought of going out to a pumpkin patch and running through vines and dirt for the perfect orange seedy bitch we're only going to mutilate was the last thing I wanted to do. But because it's about the experience and the kids, I gave in and entertained the idea.
We drove out to the Redlands area in search of a pumpkin patch.
There are tons of pumpkin patches to choose from, not to mention, apple trees for a DIY pickin' party!
Wow. There is nothing cooler than rolling up the sleeves, getting all Johnny Appleseed and pickin' them apples. No. Thank you.
"Oh, you also have them picked, sorted and bagged? Great! I'll take one."
Needless to say, we found a couple of pumpkins that were not the traditional orange, but coined "exotic" by the Pumpkin Technician.
So, for a ghostly looking pumpkin half the size of a standard pumpkin, with weird shit growing out of the side, you are looking to spend quite a bit of money for. Exotic. Exotic translates to more money. I don't know why, but it really doesn't make sense to me.
The patch we scoured was picked clean -- nothing but squashed, bug infested, rancid pumpkins remained. The kids did have a blast running around, stepping on grasshoppers and getting dirty. The experience was indeed a neat one, but a bust in the end.
I just wanted to eat a pre-picked apple and call it a day.

This is a Christmas tree farm and pumpkin patch. We tried to go here last year the weekend before Halloween and it was soo packed there wasn't any parking and we said forget it. This year we went on a Monday afternoon and it was much nicer. There is a petting zoo, jump house, pony rides, and some inflatable slides that the kids can go on for an obscene amount of money, but my son loved it. They have lots of varieties of pumpkins and gourds. They also have a u pick field of pumpkins that is fun for the kids. We got a few small weird pumpkins here and bought the big ones for carving at Ralphs. This place is great for the atmosphere and the kids will love it, the prices leave a little to be desired but it is to be expected.
