10 reviews for Little Tonino's
We have been getting pies from here for a few months now since Moon Pizza went out of business. We loved Moon and were sad to see them go.
Having said that, we tried a few other places around WT/Kensington and were severely disappointed.
We tried Little Tonino's and decided- this is our pizza. They have been very consistent and delicious for at least 4 months now. I'm only rating the pizza as that has been our experience.
Yes, it was surprising to find out it would take at least an hour for delivery when we are just across OP and Prospect Expressway and can walk there in less than 10 minutes. However, they are always up front about the delivery time and sometimes we hit them when it is less time. They have always been on time and many times we order the pizza and pick it up. Again, almost always ready when they say (usually about 20 minutes which is definitely accurate for baking a fresh pie.) Even when we are out, we call about 15-20 minutes before we know we are going to be there.
I can't rate the in-store ordering and service, but they are friendly enough when picking up the pizza.
They may not be the cheapest pizza in the area, but do have some good weekday specials and we have been impressed with the pizza. That is saying a lot for having eaten NY pizza my whole life (almost 40 years.)

I admit it: they have good pizza. It's not like the other pizza in the neighborhood, it's different, and better.
However, it's absurd that they close at 9:30 on weeknights, and 10 on Fridays and weekends. No, make that 9:30 on Fridays -- I called tonight to find out when they close, was told 10:00, walked there, arrived at 9:30 and they were closed. IT'S A FRIDAY NIGHT. Do they need to be home and in bed by 10:00? I hadn't even eaten dinner yet. And, did they really have to lie to me?
Little Tonino's, you are officially scratched off my list of places to go for food. It's too bad, because it's good, but you really pissed me off.
I recommend going to A&L Pizza on Caton & E.7th. It's really good food, cheaper, and they're open later.
If you order a fresh pie, or a sandwich (great eggplant parm), they have great stuff. Not good for just a slice, maybe because the pies sit out too long since there's not a lot of walk-by's. They're overpriced, but as some people have pointed out, in that part of Windsor Terrace there are so few options, at least it's good and they're not skimpy. Definitely a great pie when it's fresh.

I really want to like this place since it's in the neighborhood, but everytime I go there, something happens.
The latest...
I stopped by there the other day with my partner and our daughter. My partner and I each ordered a sandwich. I ordered a cheese steak and she ordered a meatball. No biggie right?
After waiting literally 25 minutes we asked if our food was going to be ready. We were told that they were about to start our order. They had a catering order they had to take care of. They seriously could have told us when we ordered that they were going to be that far behind. I would have gone up a couple of blocks and eaten somewhere else.
Everybody in there was getting slices, but I'm not a big fan of taking pizza that is literally sitting there for a while out in the open.

Amazing pizza. Amazing pizza. It's so nice, I'll say it twice.
Having said that, their service is usually spotty at best. They're not very organized, and always have a lot of non-workers behind the counters. That's OK though, because its a family run thing, and their food is great. If it wasn't for the service, I'd give them 5 stars.
Finally made it to Tonino's, which is just around the block from me, after having lived in the neighborhood for almost a year. I'm surprised at the caustic reviews - it's not Brooklyn's best pizza, but it's par, and reasonably priced. I got a huge piping hot pie (granted, it was plain old cheese), made in ten minutes, for 13 bucks. It could've fed 5 people. When I get off the train around 7 p.m., it's always packed with families, so there are clearly some devoted locals.

In an area that is abundant with pizza joints and taco taverns, I have to say hands down that little Little Tonino's is the best pizza around. My mother always told to never trust a thin chef, and it looks like the faculty feed themselves well on the beefy calzones and stuffed mussrooms; which guaranteed my satisfied smile after bighting into one of there vegetarian pizzas.
I've always like my pizza cold, and while they were cooking my pie I had them give me a slice of pepperonni which even cold tasted bona fide bonne bouche. Best pizza wedges in the area, full of the freshest and tastiest Italian food next to a little Ol' Italian Grandma's Kensington Kitchen.

This is the best pizza in the Kensington/WT/Ditmas area. I order from here 3-5 times a month and have rarely been disappointed. My only warning: they WILL warn you if they are backed up. If they tell you it's going to be a while, I assure you, it's going to be a while. Probably longer than you'd be willing to wait. Otherwise, this is a great pizza place run by nice people who take credit card over the phone (a rarity in the area).
We really wanted to like this place, as having fairly recently moved to the neighborhood we are still trying to find our pizza delivery place. Well we called and they said delivery would talk 1.5 hours, even though we live a few blocks away. So we offered to pick the pizza up, which was only to take a half hour. The pizza was undercooked, soggy, and had canned mushrooms. It was really sub par. Plus they charge 6 dollars for a side salad which had pickled veggies on it. No freshness here.
barf!! would it kill u to use fresh ingredients??
