Reasonable prices ($5-$10) for LARGE homemade servings of pizza, pasta, lasagna, subs, gyros and even baklava. Run by an Iraqi family, Little Sam's offers Greek, Italian and Middle Eastern fare. Vegetarian (some vegan) options too.

We were in the area after a day trip to San Diego, and felt like pizza. Yelp came to the rescue, of course! :) Little Sam's feels like a 50's diner mixed with a kebab shop. There are a few tables for customers, but most of the people we saw came in for take-out. The area seems fairly safe, but the liquor store nearby was very busy, and this is in a small strip mall near the local airport; the biggest shop is a CVS. Regardless, this is my favorite kind of place! ;)

The woman at the cashier was so friendly and after talking with her, I found out she's Iraqi, has been in the U.S. for 12 years, and that her family runs Little Sam's. I had to ask "Is Italian food popular in Iraq?" and she said it wasn't, kebabs and regional food is more popular.  Anyway, lovely family! :) They talked with us, asked us about ourselves, smiled and apologized when they were out of baklava and china plates (they gave us our food in styrofoam containers and paper plates). We got along well.

We ordered two vegetarian lasagnas ($9 each) and one eggplant parmigiano sub ($8). The food did take a while to arrive (maybe 20 minutes), but in the meantime we got our Greek salads and chatted some more. If we were in a rush, we would have been impatient, but we weren't and it was worth the wait.

The sauce! The sauce! Freshly made tomato sauce. Now I know why everyone likes their pizzas - it's all in the sauce. The lasagnas were nice and cheesy too, without being greasy! Miraculous, really. Usually when you order lasagnas, there's a layer of oily grease floating on top of the sauce. Not here.

I was there with two 6'3" guys who eat everything on their plates...not here! Everyone left with hefty leftovers. You can definitely share a lasagna or pizza here.

In the two weeks that I have lived in this area when I first moved in, I must have been to Little Sam's about four times since I had no groceries.  The first time I stopped by, the staff was ready to close shop but they kindly took my order.

They offer sandwiches, subs, gyros and more, but I've only tried their pizza.  The food was quite tasty for a regular pepperoni pizza and I recommend this quaint family restaurant to anyone.

Not good but not bad.

We read the review and the 4.5 star rating definitely fooled us!

We had a med size $5 cheese pizza with salami, mushroom, and sausage which turned out to be about $9. This was a great deal for what we got but the taste also reflected the price. The sauce was missing flavor, the crust was crunchy but not savory, ample topping and cheese.

If you are thinking of getting Domino's or Pizza Hut, I would recommend calling Sam's and ordering from here. Nice family owned place, small hole in the wall. Dont expect too much.

My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a shot since we always pass right by it when going to Cotixan. I wasn't expecting much from them. They have a special: a medium (12") cheese pizza for $5. We ordered that.

We were completely taken by surprised when we took our first bites and found that it was fucking delicious! The ingredients were so fresh, you could taste all the vegetables and spices used in their sauce. The pizza had just the right ratio of sauce to cheese, and the crust is heavenly. Usually, my girlfriend doesn't like eating pizza crusts, so she gives them to me, but she LOVED the crust on this pizza.

So far I've had the $5 cheese twice, and I do plan on going back to Little Sam's to try other things on the menu. Oh, and their menu is quite extensive.

I'm only docking a star because the eating area is kind of cramped, and I can't imagine eating there when it's crowded.

BEST FIVE DOLLAR PIZZA EVER.

I'm not a pizza crust eater, but man, they've got some tasty crust!
The staff are always friendly, and they've got a variety of yummy delicious Italian food on their menu. Lots of vegetarian friendly options to choose from too!

You gotta stop by this cute little pizza place when/if you're in the area. You'll be a happy little pizza eater, just like me!

At first I was some what skeptical, but after trying Little Sam's, I am sold on it!

The Pizza was good (Large Supreme), not too much sauce (If anything it was lite on the sauce, just the way I like it), crust was just right and the pizza was not greasy at all.

Sure it's not a 4 star (more along the lines of 3.5 stars), but it sure beats any of the chains pizza places.

Bread sticks, were not that great, if anything they were the biggest disappointment.

For the Kearny Mesa/Serra Mesa area it's great Pizza, if I lived closer to Bronx Pizza I would go there, but it's a P.I.T.A to get to from here...

My second time buying pizza here was better than the first... because I was sober this time. =P

Little Sam's Pizza.  Ain't nothing little about their pizza.  My sis usually has a gang of neighborhood hoodlums over at her place on the weekends.  Once again, we decided to pick up Little Sam's monster 28 inch pizza.  And once again, we were all very satisfied.

I used to think that big pizza meant cheapo ingredients with bland flavor.  This is how it was in the past but my thoughts were flipped 180 after I found Sam's.  Their toppings were very fresh and plentiful.  Sam's chops their toppings into little bits.  I thought this to be unusual gut it is a great idea because you can really taste all the toppings in every bite.  The sauce?  Perfect.  Crust?  Couldn't have been better.  Portions?  Lets just say that a single 28" pizza fed 8 kids and 5 adults.  Not bad for under 35 smackaroos.

Sam's Little Pizza is truly a hidden treasure worth seeking out!

ps.  To make the pizza go further with the kids, ask them to slice the pizza into squares.

pss.  There is Chargers Liquor in the same parking lot for your tasty beverage needs =)  While waiting for my pizza, I usually toss one back at Channel 1 Sports Bar and Grill which is about 30 yards from Sam's

My continuing search for a great Italian torpedo sandwich led me to this little place in Serra Mesa.  It's called a pizza shop but it has dozens of different sandwiches, salads, sides and such.  A few tables inside suggests that it's mostly takeout and delivery.

The torpedo was super.  Fresh toasted roll that came hot and crunchy.  Ham, salami, and turkey wasn't all that unusual, but the combination along with provolone, lettuce, tomato and dressing produced one tasty lunch, and it was big to boot.  In fact, don't come here if you're not hungry because the sandwich came with french fries and a simple salad.  The only reason why I don't give this place five stars is because I just wanted the sandwich and the extra food just increases the final cost.

Service was super friendly.  And after the guy took my money, he ran back and washed his hands before continuing on with the food.  Sounds like common sense, but it's surprising how many places don't do this.

I can't wait to come back and try some other things.  I have a feeling this is a new lunch goto spot when I'm in the area.

Great pizza at a reasonable cost. I love to get their largest pizza whenever we have company over. Always a hit, especially with my husband's friends.

I'm always talking about good pizza. I love a good slice of pie. I really love it. This place has pretty decent pizza--not exactly authentic, but it's good. The $2.25 for a giant slice is well worth it. It's a lot of food for a little cash. I had the tomatoe and garlic, one of my personal favs anywhere--you find tons of tomatoes and tons of garlic on it. It's awesome. 4 Stars for Little Sam's!

We've been here a few times and it's very good.  It's a small place, but there are plenty of tables and the service is good.  The prices of their pizzas are a little higher than some places, but is worth it.  It's very tasty.  They do have specials though and coupons in the Penny Saver.  It's not just pizza, they have burgers, fried chicken, gyros, pasta, sandwiches and much more.  The prices on those items are very reasonable and they give you a lot of food.  Most come with a salad and fries.  The sandwiches are big, Half a sandwich is plenty and it's nice to have the other half for later.

I went here recently with a more critical eye and realized the seating area of this restaurant isn't as clean as it could be.  I had to take one star off.

Tried this place for lunch while at a conference at the Four Points Sheraton on Aero Dr.  Called about 11:15 am to have them deliver 4- 28 inch pizzas.  And they did.  Those are HUGE pizzas!  And good!  I would absolutely recommend them if you are in the area.  The cheese pizza is $23.99 and then you add another $2.95 per topping.  If you charge it, they add another $1 and if it's delivered, they add $2.  I know it seems  a little knickel and dime, but if you go in and eat, it's worth it.

I was hesitant at first to order from such a small and new pizza shop in the neighborhood, not ever making it past the Mexican food next door. However, boy was I pleasantly surprised! The shop might be small, but it was very clean, and offered You to watch TV and have a soda while You waited. Calling in Your order and having it ready when You arrived is also a nice perk. The all meat pizza was awesome! It was reasonably priced and flavorable. You could taste the Italian sauce with it's herbs, and the meat was abundant with a nicely made crisp and thin crust. The owners are always pleasant, and serve You your food fast and hot. 5 Stars for Sam's!  D.H.
