I had a seriously tasty burger and onion rings here. It was hot, fresh, and just how I like it.  The counter service seemed like they may have been having a not-so-pleasant day, but I'd come back for the food.

The food is okay...but they are really stingy with refills and condiments (salsa/pico de gallo).

Also, the counter girls don't look particularly happy to be there. One of the counter girls always looks pissed off every time I walk in....maybe it's me or maybe she just needs an attitude adjustment.  They really need to work on being friendly to people....maybe it's just because they hate Americans...I don't know.

They recently updated the interior and cleaned it up a bit.....thank the Lord for that!

So, the food is okay, the service is not very good, and the ambiance is slowly improving.

I don't get it. I stopped in with high hopes. I love small mom and pop shops with decent food and friendly service. The prices are fine, the service is friendly and you get a good cross section of Round Rock eating here but the burgers don't seem much better than what I can get at Sonic or Whataburger.

I'll possibly try it again, they could have had an off day but overall I was completely unimpressed.

Great little place in RR that's got a good flavor on their burgers. We plan on heading back to try additional items. I highly recommend eating the burger there since it was way too juicy to make it home without soaking the bun.

I completely agree with Sarah S's review about the fries, they'd do better buying Ore Ita (sp?) and tossing them in some season all salt. Nonetheless they were very basic.

Not sure about the overall 3 star rating so far. This place, especially the burgers, are great. This is definitely a place I know I can go to have a down home burger - feed a family of 4 and barely break over the $20 mark. To me, personally, it is like Mighty Fine without the Might Fine price tag to accompany it. It's all made fresh to order, the people are really nice, and the food left me wanting to come back for more.

My next visit will be the chicken fried steak and I hope that it lives up to my perceived expectations.

We call these 'The Messy Burgers'.

The burger itself is pretty tasty, but when they slop on all the condiments and the lettuce and tomato, it gets soggy messy quick.  We have found that these burgers are destined to fall apart and land in your lap.  But still, we crave them once in a while.  Better to get them to-go.  That way no one sees the mess you make ;-)

I'm not a fan of the fries at all.  They are pale and bland.  There is nothing special or distinctive about them.

Added bonus, if you happen to know someone craving a burger for breakfast, they will be quite happy to accommodate you..

Very reasonable price, especially if you get the special.

Never been to this little hole in the wall before, but I had seen it several times.  I'm a huge fan of tasty burgers so I decided to give it a whirl.
The burgers are pretty good and the fries aren't half bad either.  I wouldn't say it's the best in the world, I've had better.  However, I really like the quaint little diner atmosphere and the people are always friendly.  The burgers are fresh and you can't beat that!

A word to the wise: The menu boasts "award winning menudo".  I'm not sure who the idiot is handing out these awards, but don't let them sway you. The menudo is NOT good and in fact, made me want to slap them for lying. The menudo is edible at best.  Want some good menudo? Stay at home and make it yourself. I have yet to find a place in the Austin vicinity that makes "Award Winning Menudo."

"I PITY THE CHUMP WHO DON'T READ MY REVIEW!"

I asked my good friend, Mr. T., to write up a quick review for the Little Red Wagon on my behalf. (due to illness) He was in a good mood that day but it still ended up a 2 star review. That being said,...he is pretty hard to please. Enjoy. I hope to stop there myself one day for something other than breakfast tacos. (which I thought were very good)

"Hey suckas! I ain't got no time for no jibba jabba so I will be brief. Mr. T. likes meat. Get your head out off the gutter, fool! I mean hamburger. Good greasy mouth watering goodness that will make me slap your mama. Not my mama because no one hits my mama. I'll bust them up."

"I drove up in my hummer and parked in front of an old red building. I get it. Little Red Wagon. Better not taste like Chuck Wagon dog food. I walk in get the usual stares from my pretty jewelery around my neck , sucka! Mr. T lives by the golden rule. That means the man with the gold,...rules. I look at the place. It looks like someone from my A Team threw a live grenade and busted it all up like Balboa's face. Then, some fools decided to just slather up red paint over all the dead bodies and lumber."

"But that wasn't I was here for. I wanted a burger. Just bread, cheese and meat. I didn't want any weeds in there. Mr. T. doesn't eat anything he doesn't understand! When I was a kid, I got 3 meals. Oatmeal, miss a meal and no meal. I wanted meat! I got me the double double for my trouble special and got the onion rings instead of fries. After they stared at me some more for a while, I received my order."

"What you fools raving about this place for? This burger was decent but Mr. T. felt like it tasted like a Belt Buster from your local Dairy Queen, punk. The Onion Rings were as cold as the icy stares you'll receive if you don't stay in school and do drugs! Ah..it was alright. It was pretty cheap and they were quick. I think they were scared I'd knock someone out if they dilly dallied."

"Listen,.. life is tough but my reviews are tougher. I don't hate Little Red Wagon.. I don't pity them either. They have lots of business and my boy, Joe, says the breakfast tacos are not for chumps. I'm here to teach you fools some basic rules. Love your momma and treat her right. Remember! Love is a verb and verbs show action. So,...get your ass out of bed and spring into action. Go and judge for yourselves, fools!"

This place is the shiznit.  seriously.  they double meat double cheese special is the best burger special in the whole area.  Seriously.  it went up in price(5.69) but it's still dirt cheap.  the counter girls are very nice and the place is always hoppin at lunch.  Ive tried some of the other burgers they have and they all slam.  they charge for refills which usually irks me but this is a mom and pop shop so i get it.  do yourself a favor and try it out you wont be disappointed.
also on another note, if you knock off stars because it isnt that "ascetically pleasing" inside, then you my friend are a douchebag.  a great burger is a great burger no matter if you eat it in a candle lit joint or a cafeteria style looking basement with yellow bloc letters on the walls.  does sitting in a not so pretty place make your food taste any worse?  get over yourself, sucka!

Little Red Wagon is way too cool to be in Round Rock. It's certainly way too cool to be stuck anywhere near Dell Diamond, but I digress.

Little Red Wagon is the dive bar of burger places that isn't actually a dive bar (lookin' at you, Jackalope and Camino). The decor is something along the lines of kitschy/greasy Western which either means lazy management or maybe a place that is self-aware enough to know that it's what is inside that truly counts (see? that isn't something you just say about ugly people)!

All throughout high school people would incessantly clamor on and on about Red Barn burgers, inducing much eye-rolling from me. People! We have a pep rally we need to plan how to skip, stop with the burger obsession! To be fair, Round Rock was devoid of anything other than chain restaurants and cookie-cutter shopping strips with your normal fast food choices located therein. Red Barn was something different.

Eventually I went to Red Barn (or Little Red Wagon) to try one of these renowned Round Rock burgers and man o man are they a tasy, inexpensive mouthful.

Obviously the resounding agreement from most reviewers is that the Special must be had, and it must! Double melting cheese, double beefy, greasy patty of awesome between some fine toasted buns and you have a world of flavor in your mouth with a side of fries and a drink (beware the refill charges) if you want it for less than $6.

While lacking in some of the fancier offerings Austin burger joints are known to offer, Red Barn does the simple thing (meat, bun, cheese) the best, and that is where lies its strength. While a bit too far north for most of my peeps, if you ever find yourself in the Round Rock area, stop in.

Get the burger. I've tried other things (looking at you chicken fried steak) and so far I'd say that the burger is tops! Onion rings are pretty spectacular too.

My first burger bite was...oh so good. I sat a bit stunned for a minute, letting the juices roll down my arms...savoring every ingredient. I've been back many times since and I'm always pleased.

Don't go expecting fancy atmosphere or anything crazy...just prepare to enjoy a delicious burger at a good price.

This is a great burger place  but I love that there are a lot of other options on the menu.  To be more specific,  Little Red Wagon has the standard diner fare like chicken fried steak & FANTASTIC onion rings. However,  there are some nice surprises as well.  They also serve catfish, enchiladas & breakfast tacos. They have daily specials too like meatloaf or pork chops & et cetera.

The dining environment isn't fancy - It kind reminds me of the inside of a Dairy Queen. The building is old but clean enough.  My favorite menu item is the chicken sandwich. I heard the owner is thinking adding fish tacos to the menu though, so that might become my new favorite.
The great tasting food has made me a regular. The affordable prices & the fairly large menu are added bonuses.

One of the only things missing at the Little Red Wagon are milkshakes.  I'm usually too full after eating a meal there to indulge in dessert but I have heard others comment that a milkshake would complement the meal perfectly. Now that I think about it, I can definitely see myself splitting a burger w/ someone just so I could have a strawberry milkshake.

Tips:  (1) If you get a burger to go, don't get one w/ lettuce & tomatoes (or take them off the burger before you leave). Otherwise, your burger will be very soggy. (This is probably because they use fresh veggies!)
    (2) If you plan to tip, you should have some cash on you because you can't write a tip in on the ticket/receipt.

I absolutely love their burgers.  They are a greasy piece of heaven. The place isn't huge, but is very busy around lunch which usually means it's good.  They get your food out quick.  The place is also a great value, I usually just get a quarter-pounder and a cup of water and my bill is around $3.  If you want a full meal with fries and a drink, then you can't go wrong with the daily special.

Not too much more to say, if you want a quick, cheap, delicious burger then make sure you check out little red wagon.  I always love going to a place like this when I'm broke and I can eat a good meal just by digging out some pocket change.

Little Red Wagon Hamburgers in Round Rock has called my name for many months. I have driven by this place 100 + times and never stopped. Today I stopped. The first sign I saw was "You want a hamburger for breakfast? You got it".  Sounds like my kind of place!  Expectations are high!  The prices seemed cheap compared to other burger places I have been to recently. The double patty burger with fries and drink special was less than $6. So that is what I ordered.

They have plenty of inside seating I noticed as I waited for my burger. Other reviews said the onion rings were good I will try them on next visit.  The building is old and it shows, red outside and the tin roof is fading or rusting at some places (as shown in photo from Scott).  Next time I go I will try to take pictures and add them.

The burger came and was good and hot and fresh. It was made in the familiar style with thin patties with lots of toppings. It had onions, pickles, tomato, lettuce, American cheese and lots of mustard. I had them add mayo. The white bun was toasted. It all tasted very good. It had a lots of ooze factor.  Not sure if it was the burger or grease on the outside but is was good. The burger was cooked medium well I forgot to see if I could get it cooked medium. They only gave me one napkin which was not enough to handle the ooze so I asked for more napkins and I got them. They do not have a napkin holder at the tables so you will need to ask for them.

The fries were standard size, with no skins, but were very hot and tasted fine. (Surprised me as you know I am not big on fries these days.)

If you are in the Round Rock area alone or with friends, drive past all the chains with their big burger signs and go to the Little Red Wagon. If you go early you can still get a burger or taco.

Over all I liked this place, they have other items on the menu beside burgers that I have not tried.  Most of the other items are Mexican style.

Will I go back?   Yes I will.

My parents and I ate here today (Halloween).  I said I'd take them to Little Red Wagon, and by God, I did.

I got what I got last time... the double-meat double-cheese burger and onion rings.  My dad got the same (with fries), and my mom got a grilled chicken sammich.  My parents said they liked their food.  My mom especially liked the fries she shared with my dad.  We had to pick the food up from the counter, unlike last time I went when the food was brought to me.  I'm not deducting points for this.  I can understand the need to call out numbers and have people pick up their own food when it's primo lunch hour on a Saturday.  The P/A system was way too loud and screechy, though.  Trying to have a conversation with that going on was almost unbearable.

I admit my burger was good, but it was not as good as the one I had last week.  I think perhaps I simply got spoiled by Hut's last night.  My bun today was soggy (not good), and the flavor of the meat was much more bland than it was last week.

I still call Little Red Wagon Burger my favorite Round Rock burger, but I am very tempted to simply call Hut's or Fran's my favorite Austin area burger instead and leave Little Red Wagon out of it altogether.

I'll give them another try maybe next month.

THE SPECIAL is the first thing you need to get here!! It is a double meat, double cheese, with your choice of ketchup, mustard, or mayo with fries and a drink all for a small price of $5-$6 This is considered my favorite burger joint in the area by far the best burger around. It's not what you would really call a healthy burger cause they do leave a little grease on there (which makes it even better).

You know how I said that the meal comes with fries... well those are good but if you have the change i would advise you to substitute the fries for there onion rings. Not many place around here have onion rings and from the places I go there not that good. Lil Red Wagon onion rings are almost to die for. They are as close to home as it gets, there not really those big onion rings i would have to describe them a beer battered onion rings. They are amazing and i think to substitute is like $0.75 and its well worth it. Check It Out!!

We just moved to Round Rock a month ago and have driven past this place several times.  We were curious and looking for to try a new place for lunch today so we faithfully consulted Yelp and decided to stop in.

We were not disappointed! It's just a really good burger, exactly how I like it.  Like other reviewers have pointed out, it is not going to win any awards for atmosphere, but who cares? I like the 'home town' feel of it. Great burgers, good fries and even better onion rings.  We'll be back!

If you have an open mind, $5.00, and a craving for a damn good burger... this is where you go!

Yes, the place is a dive in every sense of the word.  We usually park in the back lot and it seriously looks like they throw buckets of used map water out the back door and into the parking lot.  Once you go inside, you are greeted some genuine old school country music, friendly service, and awesome burgers.  They always get the order right and the food is much better than any of the fast food burger chains out there, and cheaper too!  They have a full menu of other stuff too which I hear is good, but I'm only here for the burgers.

If you like roadside dives with great, cheap food, this place is for you.  It's corny - read the story of the place on the placards on the table.  Every! sentence! has! an! exclamation! point!

But the food is very good - not at all fancy - and inexpensive.  It's clean enough, but really fits the Texas roadside dive stereotype.  Worth going out of your way for, and if you're passing by going to Dell Diamond or for any other reason, stop in and give it a try.  We go here often, usually for carryout.

    It's ah-ight...
The Special is a double stack with cheese and all the fixins.

Something about the decor and the sanitation level didn't compel me to walk too deeply into the dining room. Instead of hitting the restroom, I chose to hold it till I got back to work. (TMI?)

The burger was good! Though not unique.
The Fries were hot and crisp.
The soda was bit syrupie... for $.38 a refill, I'd expect a few bubbles in there.

    I'll probably go again.

I wanted a cheap lunch.... this place provided one. For 3 dollars I got a burger and fries. Not bad.

The place is not the cleanest, so if you are weird about the way your food is prepared don't come here. The floor, walls, and ceiling are dirty.... the restaurant is old and in need of major repairs.

The food was "ok", nothing to rave about, certainly not anything to go out of your way for..... but, it's cheap, and I like that, so an extra star for being inexpensive.

A comfortable, old-school place to have a burger with your favorite uncle. Get the double meat, double cheese, fries and a drink. $5.29.  You can't beat that deal and it's better than all the chains you will pass getting there.  Everything was fresh and hot.

I loved the sign on the wall that said, "You want a burger for breakfast? You got it!"

I only visited the once while in town to see a friend. I got the cheeseburger and fries. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and cold, the hamburger and cheese nice and hot. The bun was soft, and the fries were crunchy and good. They charge for soda refills, but tea is free. The decor is old and kitschy, but it's a great little local restaurant with old fashioned burgers and fries!

If you are looking for a juicy cheese burger, this is your place. I can only compare this to Dan's. If you are looking for a clean, crisp atmosphere with top notch service, move on.

We had dinner there last night. The onion rings were a bit bland and the gravy on the chicken fried steak was thin. The place overall appears run down and old. I will go back, if only for the heavenly burger.

This place makes a GREAT burger and fries.  I wasn't a fan of the onion rings, but my husband loved those, too.  I took the order to go, and honestly, it would probably have been better to eat there.  Good thing the squashed hamburger still tasted amazingly good.  I wish there was a drive thru though.  The "parking lot" is about 6 spaces long and you can't exactly park along the street since it borders Palm Valley.  All that said, I'm sure we'll be going here again.

Health inspectors please stay away. This is a greasy little joint, but I eat there about once a week. The daily special (double meat cheeseburger, fries and drink) is my favorite and cheap. The meat is fresh (not some frozen brick patty) and still juicy even cooked to medium well. I am not an onion ring fan, but these are the best onion rings that I've ever had. $0.38 for a drink refill is a little annoying, but it's the cost of doing business.  Someone on Yelp was complaining about the atmosphere? C'mon, this place has none, but neither does Dairy Queen.

Quite a shady looking place - inside and out.  The food is great but horribly unhealthy though.  It's a cheaper, half American version of Tio Dan's near 620 and 35 (owned by the same people).

The breakfast tacos are pretty good and are a fair price (~$1.30-1.60 per) - better than the chain restaurants.  The main draw are the hamburgers... double meat double cheese burger, fries and a drink for $4.99 - they are really good and nice for when you just don't want a burger from one of the chains.  I personally love the chicken fried steak sandwich and the onion rings.  The wife really likes the enchiladas here also.

It's quite easy to get out of this place for under $5 per person - I don't know if I'd want to see a health inspection though!

What else can I say that hasn't been said before?  The double double special is our favorite burger experience since in n out back in Cali.  The place could use a serious cleaning, but there is good eats to be had here.  I'll be surprised if we ever visit steak n shake again!

This place is a totally dive, but makes great food. One of the best burgers, I had while living in Texas. They also have a lot of Mexican food options which I never had. Good prices! Good Fries! They also have a salsa bar. Burger+ their salsa=a great meal.

Great burgers!  After wanting to eat there for well over a year, we finally made it.  Inexpensive, fast, and a burger that you just won't get at any fast food or franchise-type chain.  Can't wait to head back and try the chicken friend steak...

you know sometimes you just need a cheese burger and fries.  this place is great for just that at a low cost.  i have not had anything else on their menu, so can't comment, but i could go for a cheeseburger right now.
