A few evenings ago I left this place feeling all melty, soft, and relaxed... again :)

To get it out of the way: Yeah I know the exterior is strange and doesn't seem inviting, but it's what's INSIDE that matters.

I had a couple friends in town, and they decided to rent out this spa for a few hours to celebrate her birthday.

This evening ended up being a pampered evening filled with friends, relaxing in the hot tub, getting one (or two!) ~10-15 minute massages from the two practitioners present, rubbing lavender and sage infused mud all over ourselves (and letting it dry), taking several showers with the super-awesome seasonal salt scrub (or just when you needed to get the mud off), and munching on scrumptious goodies throughout the evening. (I believe they brought their own food instead of going for the catered option)

Oh and I love the robes!! Instead of having matching white ones, they have a collection of all sorts. People tended to search through the closet of robes to get the most amusing ones...

I wouldn't want to know how much that evening cost, but it was an amazing night!

Warm, sensual & pampering. My wife and I went there for our 5th anniversary. I recommend the Watsu; it's massage in a hot tub. The prices are also very reasonable.

It isn't therapeutic, it's relaxing. If you have an injury or really need something worked out with deep tissue massage, then go to a clinic. That's not that this place is about. Also, it's clothing optional, so for those of us that are comfortable with that it's nice. If you're part of the vanilla crowd, it may not be for you.

After I posted my review about the truly bizarre, and possibly illegal experience my boyfriend and I had at the LR day spa - I ended up being harassed by the LRS staff.  How weird is that???

I have 0 desire to speak to you, so leave me alone!

IT'S VERY WRONG FOR YOUR OWN COMMUNITY/STAFF TO TRY AND PAD YOUR RATINGS BY POSTING THEIR OWN FAKE REVIEWS FOR LRS/SPA  it's...funny...and...desperate, but wrong.  It's painfully obvious too BTW...FAIL.

First: my boyfriend also gets five stars. He rules so much.

As a surprise for my birthday, he took me to the Little Red Day Spa. His initial plan was to send me for some relaxation (massage, etc.) while he chilled with a book, but when he found that the Little Red Day Spa offered couples packages, he (correctly) thought I might like to have him in on the fun, too.

First, as others have mentioned, the spa is located in an unlikely, strange place. It's under a freeway overpass, in a construction zone, off the beaten path. We had a hard time finding it (leave yourself a bit of extra time to get there), and then weren't sure we were in the right place when we found it. But when we went in, we were greeted warmly right away by Sophia (with whom I am now a little in love) and shown into the most amazing space, which you would never know is so giant from the outside.

The day spa is located in a working artist's studio. The ceilings must be 40 ft. high, there are giant oil paintings, wood floors, gorgeous rugs and drapes everywhere. The lighting is soft, the space is very open, and I was very excited to note a hottub in the corner.

Sophia, the practitioner (owner? manager? not sure) is a licensed massage practitioner, and the nicest person ever. The package my boyfriend chose included an aromatherapy hot foot soak and foot rub with heated river stones, which was lovely. We were given a choice of lavendar or rosemary scent, and chose lavendar. Mmm, relaxing. We got to sit together in big fluffy robes, on a couch, having our feet pampered. Oh, and she gave us yummy tea and water, too.Tough to beat.

Afterward, Sophia pointed us toward the shower and asked us to shower off any lotion, hairspray etc. before getting into the hottub. Here's a tip that may save you the giggly embarrassed unsureness we briefly experienced - we hadn't brought bathing suits. Sophia was quick to let us know that the hottub portion is clothing optional, and most people choose to go in in the bare, but that we were welcome to leave our undies on if we were more comfortable that way. So if you're shy, bring a bathing suit!

The shower is stone, and very warm, built for two with two showerheads. I could live in this shower. So, so nice. Soap, shampoo, conditioner all provided.

Into the hottub, for 'watsu' - basically, Sophia put floats on our calves to keep our lower halves as buoyant as our top halves, then cradled us (first me, then him), sort of "whooshed" us around in the water, stretched us, held us, and gently moved our bodies. It's very gentle, noninvasive, and produced some pretty surprising emotion in me, and in my boyfriend as well. It's a difficult feeling to explain, but I really loved it.

Then, because it was my birthday, both Sophia and my lovely boy massaged me with hot stones, and oil. Four hands! Absolute bliss. I wish I was there right now.

Then Sophia bid us goodbye (I was sad to see her go!) and left us completely alone for an hour, with the massage table, the oils, the shower, the hottub, and plates of crackers, cheese, chocolate, dates. All extremely intimate and romantic, and so relaxing. It was the most wonderful surprise from my boyfriend, and made so comfortable and happy by Sophia and the Little Red Day Spa.

I really can't recommend it enough.

Location: F (It's tucked away under a 5 freeway overpass; see my photo or google street view,if they delete it)

Ambiance: D (Massages take place in a large stage area... that while near pitch black just makes you feel displaced; the novelty is short-lived. I prefer cozy or luxurious when at a *real spa*

Friendliness: A (Hey, they're nice)

Technique: D+ (I've simply had too many massages to be even JUST SATISFIED with this one.  Deep tissue requires strength, accuracy, communication, improvisation, etc. What I got was an attempt at a sensual massage...SORRY people, it's not about someone else touching me...It's about making my muscles less tense. It's really NOT all in my head OR about "spoiling" myself

Closing: I've got to give it to 'em, they're very business-oriented for artistic people, but I went away with that feel I've gotten after running into angry Buddhists...

Girlfriend Beth and I had so, so much fun.
The winter warm-up session was the most relaxing thing ever.
Foot massage, hot tubs, and body rubs. Such a nice reprieve from the nasty weather we've been having.
Sophia's the nicest person ever, and I just wanted to hug her afterward.

The spa doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside you're made to feel at home right away. You're surrounded by large lush paintings, massage tables, and the single coolest hot-tub I've ever seen. Ohh. And the smell. I can still smell the lavender.

Same Side note as Inna : I don't know if the person who claims staff are posting fake reviews is talking about mine, but I want to be clear on it. If she is, then she is way wrong. I love this spa and what they offer, but the only way I'm affiliated with it is as a customer.

I recently had a watsu/massage combination at the Little Red Day Spa with the practitioner Cheri Rae.  It was an amazing experience.

The combination of the watsu with the massage made the experience unforgettable.  The watsu was first, and being floated and massaged in the water really relaxed me and loosened me profoundly, so that the massage that followed was so much more effective.

It's hard to imagine having just a regular massage again.

Cheri was great - she's obviously had years of experience as a  therapist, and found all the spots that needed work with ease.  But... it was more than that, really.  The total experience, the energy of the space, of Cheri, made me so relaxed I felt as though I'd just spent a week at the beach.

This is to be repeated.  Again and again.

There was off-street parking available, which is really nice.  I recommend making a reservation, I don't think they take any walk-ins.  Communication in setting and confirming the appointment via email was very very good.
