Great food, their only downfall is the prices and the atmosphere. If you want to go for a mini pie ala mode expect to pay $10. The mini 5" pies alone are $7.50, the larger ones get quite expensive ($30 for the 10" versions).

The reason I don't love the interior is that it isn't warm and welcoming the way you'd like a place called the Little Pie Company to be. They come close with a small bar and a couple old fashioned stools and 2 booths but the completely open kitchen (though I appreciate it) makes the place feel industrial and like a place you should just grab something and go to eat it at home.

The people I've had help me here have been really nice and last time I came here they offered to warm up my pie for me which was just what my Apple Pie ala mode needed. They also serve Bassett's ice cream (a famous Philly based ice cream company with great quality and consistency). I wish they had a couple more pie selections like chocolate cream, blueberry, or pumpkin (only seasonal). But the varieties they do have are awesome and very well done.

My first bite into the Sour Cream Apple Walnut pie was like hearing Luciano Pavarotti singing sweet nothings in my ear.

My mouth is salivating as I'm trying to remember how thick and flaky the buttery crust was and how it broke apart with chunks of walnuts embedded in them. Underneath this pastry lover's dream of a pie crust, gazillion layers of paper-thin sliced apples are encased in a sour cream custard filling. There are slices of apples in every bite. I know it sounds weird to have sour cream as a main flavor to this pie, but the tanginess cuts through some of the sweetness.

My head was spinning after scarfing down half the little pie ($7.50) in merely a few seconds. Warning: an intense sugar rush will hit you like those tequila shots did to you in Mexico. It'll creep up on you when you least expect it.

I'm eager to try the other flavors they had in this bakery, including the Key Lime Pie and Southern Pecan. The prices are a little steep for a tiny pie, but it is extremely filling and it's perfect for sharing between two people or just one...

The bakery was relatively small and sold other baked goods such as cheesecake, cakes, cupcakes and cookies. There is seating outside, but I took it home with a friend and we ate it on the couch in front of the TV while watching Man vs. Food. It was an awesome Sunday afternoon.

Lobbing in another great review for the sour cream apple walnut pie!  Came out of this place for the first time with two individual pies (thankfully I was with someone so I didn't look like a complete pig) - as I said, the sour cream apple walnut pie was excellent, but the pumpkin pie was fairly run-of-the-mill (especially for $7ish).  Anyhow, would definitely go back to try more; I was lucky to walk out with only two pies instead of the 5-6 I was drooling over.  It's like the grocery store - for your waistline's sake, don't go here hungry.

My family always orders the Sour Cream Apple Pie for Thanksgiving, but I don't think we will be placing an order this year.

The pies have doubled in price! I remember paying around $30.
It's $65! OMG!
I'm not that desperate.
Hello? Recession!

5 Stars for the Sour Cream Apple Pie! AMAZING!!!
0 Stars for the increased price. Boo-Hiss.
Don't waste your money buying other pies. Not worth the money. Pumpkin Pie tastes like Pumpkin Pie. Buy that at a cheaper place.

I have no sage advice re: logistics, ambiance, best tips for this place since I've never actually been to their storefront. But I sit here finishing my sour cream walnut apple pie so generously bestowed upon me by a New Yorker friend, and can only say, HOT DAMN that is some delicious pie. I managed to make one of those little pies last four days, though only because I was playing tourist with said generous New Yorker for most of the weekend, and only because heaven on earth only happens once in a while, so you better make it last while you have it.

It is hard to begin with this magnificent place of pie making. I usually visit the midtown location, and boy have I tried a lot of their goodies! Here is the list: Pies- Southern Pecan, Banana Cream, Mississippi Mud, and Old Fashioned Apple....

Southern Pecan

Traditionally made, the filling is in equal quantity to the actual pecans so neither is too overwhelming. It made me turn in to fan of pecan pie, which before I didn't like!

Banana Cream

So light and fluffy, you can definitely eat an entire small one (they come in small, medium and large)! The crust is so tender it mixes in your mouth to make it taste like you're eating banana pudding. It is easy on the eyes since the top is a big puff of whipped cream. So delicious!

Mississippi Mud

This is my favorite of all! This literally looks like a big chunk of fudge in a pie pan! Brownie streusel mixed with chocolate in a chocolate cookie crust, this rich goodness is for the chocoholic! Once you take a bite, you can't stop! Literally, my sister and I could not stop eating it! Mmmmm!

Old Fashioned Apple

Of course, everyone loves mom or grandma's apple pie, but there is something unique about Little Pie's. It has a puffy top crust that sits like a dome on top. The entire inside is filled with delicious cinnamon apples. Simple with a twist, vanilla ice cream is always a good addition, and they serve it there! I cannot forget my favorite item baked and sold at Little Pie Company. They make one of the best CARROT CAKES I have ever had. As you have read, moist cake is big for me. I don't like dry. Their carrot cake is moist and crunchy together. The cream cheese icing is thick and creamy, yet it has a strength to it that makes it a bit crusty. This compliments the consistency of the cake perfectly. As Marie Antoinette would say, "Let them eat cake!" I say, "Let them eat Little Pie Company's carrot cake (to be specific)!"

I tried this shop after reading some nice comments in the New York Times.  Well, I was disappointed.  My recollection from last Thanksgiving was that I brought home an apple pie and a pumpkin pie. They were OK but did not impress. So is it just me or maybe nobody remembers what good pie is like anymore?   Not worth the effort to hump the stuff home on the train to NJ.

Okay, let's get this straight. I don't even like pie that much. I lo-ove dessert and love experimenting but all my previous experiences with pie-eating have been ordinary at best. So, I don't love pie. Over time I've concluded that I'm just not a pie girl.

Now, moving on (enough rant about pies already!). I LOVE the sour cream walnut apple pie at the little pie company. I love it with the same gusto as I love the molten chocolate cake at Jean Gorges,  the creme brulee at the Dessert Truck, and the chocolate brownie at the little counter at the Blueman Group theater. Simplyloveit.

Other pies that I've tried include the apple pie (ah-ok) and the berry pie (ah-ok).

(Madhuri I: Most likely to be found tonight at the Little Pie Company stuffing her face with sour cream walnut apple pie)

I'm not really one for the sweets and I don't really like to gush, but oh man, this is tasty pie!  When I was younger, I used to love going to my mother's Midtown office and getting a piece of pie.
Do yourself a favor and get the Sour Cream Apple Walnut.  It is tart and sweet and creamy and amazing.  Thin slices of apple are layered with sour cream and the pie is topped crunchy candied walnuts.
They also make a very good Key Lime, and a pretty good Lemon Meringue.
Can't say I've ever had their cupcakes...this goes back to my whole philosophy about ordering things you're not supposed to order in places that are known for something else; i.e. pasta in a French bistro, a tuna sandwich in a burger joint, Champagne at TGI Friday's...

I don't remember how I found out about this place, but I'm certainly glad I had a chance to visit.  The wonderful smell of baking hits you as soon as you open the door and step in the bakery.

I had to marvel at the bakery case for a while to check out all the tasty looking options.  They have a paper print out of the day's offerings, so we took one to study over and get out of the way of people ready to order.  Since this trip was all about tasting and not gorging (the more space in your stomach, the more different things you can try), we decided that getting some small things would be a good idea.

Most of the pies and cakes here are available in multiple sizes or by the slice.  We opted for two 5 inch pies: the sour cream apple walnut and the three berry.

Sour Cream Apple Walnut pie description:  Our signature pie is made with fresh Granny Smith apples!

Now this, my friends, is a pie.  Crispy strudel topping, crunchy from the walnut pieces.  Slightly sweet, tangy filling that balanced perfectly with the sweet strudel - great decision to go with the Granny Smith Apples.  The apples were tender, but still held their shape well.  Great crust.

We almost had a fight going for the last bits.  Well, since we're Asian it was more like splitting the remaining pie into smaller and smaller pieces so as not to take the last piece and thus lose face and shame ancestors and family.

Three berry pie description:  Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries combined.

It may be a personal thing, but for multiple fruit containing pies, I still like to be able to differentiate between the fruit components.  This was more generic berry pie and you couldn't really taste the different berries, and the fruit had broken down.  It was good, but I wasn't as impressed with this one.

Pies are $7.50 for a 5 inch, $22 for an 8 inch, and $29 for a 10 inch pie.  The pies are probably a little pricier than at similar pie places in Virginia.  I think the 5 inch would be the equivalent of two large slices from a normal sized pie.  I'm glad we got to try two flavors, but I sort of wish we had just bought a 10 inch sour cream walnut apple pie.  That thing was amazing.

mmmm. This is a stop when you want to treat yourself, or impress your parents or a friend who lives for pie and is visiting for the weekend.
Another reason to keep this place in your back pocket? Well what if you were invited to a thanksgiving or potluck dinner and want to contribute something delicious without having to cook?  you will always be welcomed back!!!

In my opinion you should stick to apple pie or sour cream walnut apple pie.  The berry pie is pretty good when berries are in season and unfortunately the brownies are terrible. So stick to pie because this tastes like a crust you might get at home, and while it's $5 or so per slice and $30 for a pie around thanksgiving, the quality is exceptional! your guests will fawn over it.  I promise, they'll ask you to come back even though you expended no effort.  if you lie and say you made this I wouldn't doubt that you would get a marriage proposal or at the very least an invitation to make the pie for someone's wedding.

yes, at the very least, this is (apple) pie that changes lives.

If you're The Little Pie Company - that would make me The Little Pie Hole Company -- because I devour you. You get an extra star just for making your whole block smelling so mouthwateringly good - which is no small feat in Hell's Kitchen!

I love that you humor me and let me stare at your pies for 20 minutes while I go back and forth, choosing between the apple pie -- no, the chocolate -- hmmm, maybe the key lime -- ooh, chicken pot pie! Do you have vanilla ice cream? Yes! OK, I'll go with the apple, oh wait... which apple pie to get?

One of the top 3 places to get pie in all of Manhattan -- go!

To be fair..I ordered a cupcake and not a pie! But, the cupcake was only OK--hence the 3 stars.

Why is it that none of these bakeries seem to have cupcakes that are even half as good as the ones from the cupcakery?? Do I really need to fly to St Louis just to get some truly amazing cupcakes?

I'll keep tasting in New York, but will buy a plane ticket if necessary.

I shared a miniature triple berry pie with a friend for $7.50. It was SO GOOD. I can still remember the tart berries that were at just the right sweetness. The crust was amaaaaazing....flaky, crusty, delicious. I keep wanting to go back for another one! It's a cute atmosphere, and the workers are nice enough. I like being able to watch them make the pies through the window.

Okay, so why -1 star? There was a squished dead fly on the wall behind us, and the table next to ours was not bussed until 30 min. later. It was kind of unpleasant sitting next to a dirty table for so long. I would've enjoyed my pie more if it was clean :) It wasn't even a busy night! Oh well, it won't stop me from coming back.

Its called "pie" company.

DO not get anything else other then a pie or you will be greatly disappointed. The chocolate cake is really bad. I'd rather go to food emporium a half block down and buy an entenmanns. Anything would be better then this.

The only way I will buy from this place again is if I am really sick with the flu and lose all sense of taste or join a group that participates in "pieing".

-Pieing is the act of throwing a pie at someone for comedic value or in which throwing a pie at an authority figure, politician, or celebrity.

I dream about pie...is that weird? Whatever...I don't care. I love pie.

The first time I tried to go here it was a normal day of the week. I trekked in the FREEZING weather. I was cold...my dog was shivering...but the thought of delicous pie kept us warm. Finally we reach the pie mecca...I can smell the pies cooking. I walk up to the door. It is locked. I check the hours...they are supposed to be open. I look inside and I see pies baking!!! Then a guy says...sorry we are closed...and turns his back on me.  I was pissed! And Cold!

Sadly...My dog and I turned around and started our frozen walk home. We were depressed....frozen....and we had no thoughts of pie to keep us warm.

It was a sad sad day......sniff

********

Fast  forward to this afternoon. I just got a new job. As a congratulatory present my friend brought me some key lime pie. What a nice surprise.

I wanted to hate it...I really did...I mean I still had frostbite from the first time I tired to eat here. However...after the first bite of pie my harsh feelings towards them seemed to wash away. Instead I was filled with happiness. This was FABULOUS key lime pie.

The filling had just the right amout of sweet and tangyness. The crust...the perfect amount of sweetness. It was pure key lime goodness. It had none of that fluff whipped cream like a lot of key lime pies do. I have had award winning key lime pie from the Florida keys and I have to say...this was comparable.

Now that I am not so angry with the Little Pie company I think I will give them another shot...after all they have many other pies and delicacies that I need to try. But be warned Little Pie Company...you better be open next time I stop by or this 5 star rating could quickly be changed.

wait...who am I kidding...this was f-ing good pie....I really could not even fathom giving them anything less than 5 stars after tasting what I tasted.

All I can say is "sour cream apple walnut".  Brace yourself.  Grasp your eating utensil firmly at it will give a slight jolt when breaking through the perfectly crisped walnut-crumble.  Don't worry, the turbulence will end as your fork or spoon glides down into the thinly sliced apples that manage to be sweet, crisp, and just a little bit tart in their sour cream filling.  When you put a bite of this pie in your mouth, you will taste a whirlwind of cinnamon, sugar, tart apples, buttery crust, crunchy walnuts...nothing short of a miracle.

Best apple pie in the world.  Everybody likes pie, right.

I actually don't like pie, but I love the apple, walnut, sour cream pie.  I have had a couple others but I don't remember them.  I just love how the pie is tart and sweet all at the same time.

If you are looking for a pie for the holidays you must pre-order and then wait in line.

The cute little mini-pies are a perfect gift or housewarming type present... you can pre-order for holidays, and there fresh cookies are fab!  And such a new york experience.

My friend and I came here to celebrate Pi day.  He had the sour cream apple pie and I had the strawberry rhubarb.  I really liked that the apples were sliced so thinly but didn't turn into mush.  I wasn't such a huge fan of my pie though.  The crust wasn't crisp and flaky and it didn't have too much flavor.  I guess I was looking for something a bit more tart.  Maybe they're keylime pie.  I do wish I could have tried one of their pies that has cheddar in their crust.  i forget what kind it was though.

When I'm in Hell's Kitchen, my ritual is to walk east along 43rd Street to smell the sweet, sugar coated aromas coming from the Little Pie Company.....ah, like inhaling 300 calories of molasses and cane sugar with each whiff!

**'TIS THE SEASON FOR PUMPKIN PIE**

On Monday September 24th, I walked by The Little Pie Company and they had a large sign outside, "Pumpkin Pie Season Is Here!!"  It was literally the first day they started selling Pumpkin Pie this season!

Last  Fall, I had the pleasure of indulging in many slices of pumpkin pie goodness from various cafes, restaurants and bakeries...so I was eager to get started with this season's pumpkin pie tasting.

I took home a medium pie (enough for 4-6 people/$12) -- and upon cutting my first slice and putting it on the plate...I knew this would be no ordinary experience.  The pie was easy to cut into--the crust edges held together (and didn't crumble)--and most important the pie was baked perfect--the pumpkin filling didn't separate from the pie crust either!

I tasted it first with a fork--nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon, cream--contrasted with the perfect crust--buttery and flaky!  The next few bites were even better....why?  I ditched the fork and held the slice in my hands and proceeded to finish the slice and even indulged in second helpings (See for yourself here: http://tinyurl.com/yonu9z
).  To my chagrin, I think I had three slices.....by the next day the pie was finished.

As much as I'd like to ramble with adjectives and paragraphs of how orgasmic the experience was (you never forget your first pie!!), the easiest and most concise way to describe their pumpkin pie is **YUM**!!

Just got back from a NYC visit & this SF girl carried 4 (yes...FOUR!) pies back w/ her on the plane!!

For our dine-in experience, we started w/ the goat cheese-tomato quiche & it was to die for.  Perfect blend of egg to fillings & the cheese was just enough to be really cheesy w/out being overwhelming.  Friends had the chicken pot pie & said spices were very flavorful & yummy.

Desserts are over the top delish!  Mississippi Mud Pie is the most chocolaty, decadent, scrumptious, chocolate-treat on the planet (must have w/ ice cream!)....it's so chocolaty, it's actually black.  (1 pie for the plane)

The fresh (and I repeat, FRESH) peach pie was so incredible we actually cleaned them out of their stock during our visit between the eat-in & take-out!  (2 pies for the plane)

Sour Cream Apple was the final delicacy that resulted in a pie for the plane & overall we just can't recommend them enough.  Service was laid back & extremely friendly, the neighborhood was quaint & very inviting & the atmosphere was accommodating to travelers who were looking for the sweetest treats around!!  Can't wait to go back!

To die for. All of the pie. Especially the key lime, the peach, the apple-sour cream, the regular apple, the cherry pie....did i miss any? My weakness is ala mode, which is perfection here. Oh and don't forget the cakes. Oh and the shakes....I love a good shake!

The one on 14th St. & 9th Avenue is the one I go to, but I'm glad I don't work anywhere near either one, cuz I'd be huge by now and broke.

One of the best cupcakes i've ever had! My friend got me an enormous yellow cake cupcake with strawberry buttercream icing filled with even more cream inside!

Just looking at it i thought, "huh...its huge, its pink, and its got sprinkles" but once it entered my mouth, my thoughts changed to "HOLY CRAP ITS SO INCREDIBLY MOIST!!!!!!!!" Moistness of a cupcake is key to my forming obsession...

And the icicing... i thought it was just one of those colorful vanilla icings but seriously, i put it in my mouth and just smiled cuz i tasted to tangy strawberry flavor!! It kinda reminded me of a strawberry pocky... yum :-) Excellent 21st birthday ending!

They don't call it the Little Pie Company for nothing, TRY THE PIE. Most people I tell to try it, kind of shy away from the "sour cream" part of the apple pie. But seriously, you would never know that there is sour cream in there at all. This pie is different from their traditional one: apples are crisp and  thinly sliced then layered, topping is like a walnut crumble with yummy brown sugar and the crust is just awesome. Get the little one if you're not sure and heat it up a bit. Plus, a mini one can actually feed 4 people easily (but i'm a girl)...that's how dense this pie is.

And if it's in season, the banana cream pie is light, fluffy and delicious! Coming from someone who doesn't really like banana's, I could probably eat this one all on my own.

I wanted to get several pies although I knew it was just my eyes talking and not my stomach. I went for the traditional old fashioned apple pie and it was delightful. I got the small size and it was just right!

When you can't have your mom's awesome desserts, this is the place to go, in some cases it might be even better.  My taste buds have had the pleasure of experiencing  their  delicious  delights.  I'm a big fan of their:
Applesauce Carrot Cake
Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie
Sweet Potato Pie
Little Pie Company's Cheesecake Cupcakes (assorted flavors)

They also have Quiche, muffins, Pot Pies etc...
I love it all.

Please when you get a chance GO. If you're like me and get too full after a meal, go have your dessert first.  GO make your tummy happy..

I love the sour cream apple and have taken friends here.  Just a word of caution: get your pie to go.  The last two times I tried to eat here, the service was way below average and we were ignored and had to go back and forth to the counter to get what we needed despite the fact that we were the only customers there.

"She's my cherry pie"-  When I think of this place, I think of Warrant circa early 90's......

"Sweet cherry pie oh yea
She's my cherry pie
Put a smile on your face
Ten miles wide
Looks so good
Bring a tear to your eye
Sweet cherry pie"

I HEART Cherry Pie. Especially when it is not filled with comstock garbage.  This is a damn good cherry pie. I also get free smells walking by everyday and hum a bit to myself- Oh Warrant, thanks for that song.

The people who work behind the counter are nothing short of the nicest, most patient people working in a bakery. Order your food to stay and they tell you to "take a seat, don't worry about paying til you're finished". Then, bring over some forks and napkins while you wait until your pie is warmed. Nice.

Sour cream apple pie is an obvious choice. It gets all the hype and doesn't disappoint. The apples are sliced thinner than normal, but taste just as good. The crunchy topping makes the pie.
