After having cupcakes from DC, Seattle, and now this place . . . this place might be the winner. The main two places in Seattle were good, but I wished they could combine some of their ideas. This place seems to do that, and for a decent price, too (around $2 each). And once you've gone through the cupcake selection, you have coffee, cakes, muffins, and more. So much variety, and I would be happy to try more.
When we went in, I fell in love with the chocolate cloud and peanut butter cupcakes. The guy at the counter recommended the peanut butter one over the other, but we got one of each anyway. I liked both, but there was something extra special about the peanut butter one. It made me think of a Tastycake, even with the texture of the cake. And, the little bits on top are not nuts, but some sort of magical peanut butter bits. Love!!!
To wrap it all up, it's such a nice atmosphere: perfect light, cozy feel, great decor, and nice people. A great place for a date . . . maybe a proposal . . . ? Too bad I'm past that. :P But, we will definitely return!
it's about that TIME again. Aunt Flo is visiting and that biznatch needs to chill out.
everyone is a critic. some like the dry, plain and boring Magnolia or Crumbs... but this is MY Little Cupcake Bakeshop and if you mess with it... i will RIVER DANCE on your face.
if you like Sugar Sweet Sunshine in LES... this joint is probably it's slower (like "shortbus" slow) sister. i mean that in the most delicate way! the staff can be sweet to you if you're sweet to them. even when it's my Aunt Flo giving them attitude... they seem to respond well. it's like they can sense i'm going to stab someone if i didn't get my Red Velvet Cake (or cupcake) fix.
someone get me my Period Cake... (refer to previous review)

I know there was some controversy when this place opened because of the similarities between it and Magnolia, but Little Cupcake is FAR superior to Magnolia. The location in Bay Ridge is perfect and adds charm to the small boutique shops that have cropped up in recent years.
As others have said, the red velvet cake is absolutely amazing! So is the hummingbird cake, and surprisingly all of the sugar free cupcakes taste delicious. I've pre-ordered birthday cakes here, and the service is amazing, just don't expect them to deliver locally. They don't.
Service is always outstanding and the folks behind the counter are pleasant.
I love this place for it's cute ambiance and colorful desserts.
Their cupcakes are loaded with over sweetened frosting, but they look so pretty, $2 per cupcake - you decide if it's fair.
They offer so many different cakes, you'll get a BIG slice, big enough for two, the hummingbird cake is a must have. Other than cakes and cupcakes they also offer, pies, cookies, rice crispies/ cereal marshmellow bars, raspberry bar, coffee cake, pudding, coffee, vanilla cream, lattes, tea.
Its small, but a great place to meet a friend for coffee and dessert while listening to oldies music.
Favorite cupcake: Pumpkin SPice
Favorite drink: Vanilla Cream
Favorite Dessert: Raspberry Bar
Move over Magnolia and Crumbs, I've found my new favorite cupcake shop.
And it just so happens to be in my neighborhood. I wonder why it took so long for me to try out Little Cupcake, but I'm glad I finally did. The cupcakes are not overly sugary like Magnolia's, or too dry like Crumbs. They are just right in size and taste.
Go for a more unique cupcake, like peanut butter or cookie dough. I'm telling you, they're great. There is a ton of variety at this shop, and I'm ready to go back to try something new!
The shop is also decorated very nicely; its a cute place to go with a date or some friends after dinner, or just to sit by yourself with a newspaper, a coffee, and a croissant on a Saturday morning. They also have seating outside.
In just a few words: definitely check out Little Cupcake.
I came here after going to the gym (ha! way to undo the hard work right?) and the cupcakes were tasty....when I finally got to order that is.
Maybe it was because there were too many customers and not enough staff on hand, but I was standing there for 15 min trying to get someone's attention and when they finally went to take an order...they skipped me and went to the girl NEXT to me. Was not pleased.
They took my order and the check-out was quick. The cupcakes were delicious though! Light & fluffy and not a ton of frosting, which I like.
This place is really cute. I remember when they first opened a few years ago, I thought a little cupcake shop is just what this neighborhood needs! Little tables dot the cozy bakeshop, which sports a comfy country, old-fashioned design with exposed brick walls and an semi open baking kitchen. And then they even added some outdoor seating too. Perfect for a warm spring day.
They make many varieties of cupcakes and cakes with frosting soo fluffy they look like clouds on a cake and the pastely colors make a girls heart flutter with joy. For $2 a cupcake, you can choose from at least a dozen different cupcake flavors. But my hubby really enjoys their old fashion banana pudding.
Staff is fast and friendly which is always a plus. I loved coming by when I was in the neighborhood, but lately a new place has been taken over my top cupcake spot. That I'll review at another time.
Nom nom! Delicious cupcakes. I used to frequent Magnolia Bakery, but this place is a 10 minute drive from my new place and the cupcakes, quite frankly, are just plain better.
The cakes are light and fluffy! No brick-in-your-tummy feeling after 5 bites, like Magnolia. Selection is much larger; try a cookie dough, oreo, or lemon cupcake.
Atmosphere is lovely. Cute little tables, and the salesgirls wear adorable 50s style pink kerchiefs. One visit to this place and you'll see how Magnolia missed the mark. Also, staff is friendly!
The restroom is clean, parking is normally available on the street, and they even DELIVER with 24 hours notice. Lovely!
I'm a red velvet FIEND.
And they certainly have good red velvet cupcakes. Better than Magnolia's (which, by the way, is seriously overrated). Probably in the top 3 best Red Velvet cupcakes I've had.
The lemon and peanut butter chocolate cupcakes are AWESOME.
Very cute place. The staff, is normally friendly. It's a great place to meet up with friends, indulge in some sugary sins, and forget about your troubles.
dessert! we were a looking for a stellar sucrose fix and we adventured into this ice cream parloresque bakery. nice chandeliers, nice rococo mirror, silly blue smurfs with shit eating grins and country kitchen knick knackery/ craftsy waftsy not so much.
-the strawberry cake was light and creamy and moist, it was fresh strawberryiousness to the 3rd power and 5 starrable.
-the chocolate cloud cupcake was like a cloud hanging over hapless cartoon ziggy. dry. dry is good for wine not cupcakes; dry is good for humor not cupcakes. dry is good for desert, not dessert. verdict- feed these to the smurfs. tis a shame because the name of this establishment is little CUPCAKE bakeshop, so 2 stars upon thar for the cupcake.
-banana pudding gets four stars, it was creamy and flavorful, but i don't think the nilla wafers add anything to the mix.
-coffee no thank you. juan valdez would be very disappointed in this yield. expensive and a long wait for frothy cafe americano. 2 stars.
-5 stars for playing songs from carousel that lovely, corny, musical.
3.77 stars overall.
p.s. they also make sugar free cupcakes.
Best Cupcake place in Brooklyn. The red velvet and pumpkin are amazing!!!!
This place is amazing...
I have read some of the mediocre reviews of Little Cupake Bakeshop and simply do not get it.
I used to think I knew what good cupcakes were when I would wait on cold winter lines at the "other" cupcake shop on Bleeker Street in Manhattan. This would inevitably turn into an empty and disappointing experience with its too-cool-for-school staff, and dog eat dog mentality of patrons who would practically fist fight one another for an overrated and mainly dry cup-fake.
Last night I tried Bay Ridge's Little Cupcake's cookie dough cupcake and it was delicious and perfect in everyway. It was downright orgasmic and I do not just toss that word around lightly!
Go for it.
This place is absolutely adorable! I'm in love with cupcakes, and I make a mean cupcake myself, so I have incredibly high standards. I was definitely pleased with the cupcakes here. I got six cupcakes, and ate one in the shop: Strawberry, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Cloud, Coconut Cloud, Lemon, and Devil's Food with Buttercream frosting. I gave the purple Devil's Food to a friend for her birthday and she loved it. I ate the Strawberry one in the shop and it was definitely delicious. Both the frosting and cake were strawberry flavored, and the strawberry buttercream was almost as good as my recipe. Not many places make good buttercream frosting, but they do here. The cake a was a little dry for my taste, which is why I gave them four stars. I ate the Peanut Butter at home and the cake was even drier, but overall it was still tasty. The rest are in the fridge and will be consumed shortly. :)
My boyfriend got five: Golden, Chocolate Cloud, Strawberry, German Chocolate, and Coffee Buttcream (or something like that). He ate the German Chocolate and Coffee there and was also very pleased, though the cake was dry in both of his as well. If they would add a little more liquid to all of the cake recipes, I think their cupcakes would be perfect.
This place seems very out of place on the corner of a street in Brooklyn, but they get a lot of business. The decorations are so cute and the prices are wonderful. There are a lot of other treats to indulge in as well, and also coffee.
When I moved to Bay Ridge I was so excited to see little cupcake bakeshop, I thought I died and went to heaven. I ran into the store and saw how cute it was and daydreamed a bit on how this was going to be my new spot. So i ordered my usual when I find a cupcake place, chocolate cupcake with vanilla butter cream. The cupcake was super cute and I was dying to dive right in but when I did the cupcake was dry and crumbled. I have to say I was disappointed, I was so disappointed that I didn't even finish my cupcake! So I thought it was a fluke, and went back another day. I bought a red velvet cupcake, banana pudding and a banana muffin. Skipped a bit when I walked home thinking today is the day! and was a little disappointed again, the banana pudding was all wafer cookies and a little bit of pudding (I was hoping for a Magnolia like banana pudding), the banana muffin was eh and the red velvet was ok.
So I went back two more times hoping it was a fluke. Well I learned my lesson about the cupcakes (fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me) and got the Brooklyn blackout cake and OMG it was SOOOOOO GOOD. Think two little red hen's black out cupcake but in a HUGE GENEROUS SLAB OF CAKE! Yum! I also got a Whoopie Pie and that thing was a MONSTER. It was good. So i guess Little Cupcake Bakeshop should be renamed to Brooklyn blackout whoopee pie bakeshop.
eh, it's ok... i'm diggin the homemade look and feel.
Little Cupcake Bakeshop is one of those little gems that make a neighborhood special. Kudos to the staff for always being sweet and very kind. I was engaged at Little Cupcake and they couldn't have been nicer. The entire display case was filled with cupcakes that said, "Will you marry me?" The counter girls took pictures and everyone in the shop clapped for us.
The cupcakes are delicious (especially the Devil's Food) and so are the brownies. They even make cakes and pies that will make you the hit of the office party.
This place is adorable, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
Well...maybe butts...biggggg butts (and I cannot lie!), if the sugar content of that insanely death-by-glucose sweet frosting is anywhere close to what I think it might be.
I really liked the consistency of the red velvet cake and cupcakes that I tried (yes, I tried multiple!), but the frosting is just INSANE. The only one that I thought was semi-normal was the lemon cupcake's frosting. (Highly recommended!) The carrot cake cupcake was delicious and moist and honest-to-god carrot cake-y with strings of carrots and those golden raisins (which are not to be confused with brown raisins, which I am 100% against). The cake and cupcake consistency is very light and fluffy, reminding me of those Chinese sponge-Bundt-like cakes you'd find at a Chinese bakery.
I liked the setting, too, with its tiny cafe tables and small sidewalk seating area. The pink takeaway boxes are also a nice touch because they remind me of the cake boxes you'd find in Chinatown.
But, with that said, the frosting...!!! I ate the red velvet cake, but left little puddles of the insanely sweet frosting. I daresay it's even sweeter than...*gulp*...Magnolia's. And that's a bad bad BAAAAAD sign.
Their cupcakes = perfection.
I haven't been so lucky as to try their other baked goods yet, but it's only a matter of time because their cupcakes impressed me so much! The red velvet ones are my favorite, but I also love the pumpkin one with orange frosting that they have right now for autumn. They are so special because the frosting is delicious and not TOO sweet, and the cake is great as well. With many cupcake places, either the frosting is good and the cake is bland or the other way around. Little Cupcake Bakery has the recipe right.
I am going to hint to my boyfriend to get me either a cake or cupcakes from here for my upcoming birthday! I hope he takes the hint and I can enjoy their yummy goodness again soon.
Finally, a good cupcake place in Brooklyn. I don't have to trek all the way to Manhattan to get some! It's a cute little place with friendly service. My best friend is a big cupcake fanatic, so I decided to surprise her with some cupcakes from this place. She fell in love! I got her the red velvet and she said it was really moist and one of the best cupcakes she's ever had. I had one as well, and thought the same.
I got the cloud 9 ...which is a chocolate cupcake with a marshmallow-like frosting. The marshmallow frosting is the best part. The carrot cake cupcake is also really good! And the strawberry was alright...nothing special. I didn't think there was too much frosting, I think they got it just right.
this place is awesome.
the cupcake are adorable, reasonable and delicious.
the cakes...sweet zombie jesus. the cakes. i can't even explain how delicious everything looked.
worth the trip. totally worth it.
I love the Little Cupcake Bakeshop. Whenever I visit my Bay Ridge lovers they take me there and we sit and talk and enjoy the confections. My favorite is the princess something cake, it's a raspberry filled marshmallow topped cake I think. I wish I remembered the name. It's very summery and very frilly and I love it. The classic pink pastry boxes are darlings. The red velvet is good as well. If you are in the area you should go visit.
Cupcakes = love.
It was an innocent visit. I wanted to get an assorted dozen for my dog's daycare staff (yeah, I'm sort of retarded that way). I couldn't resist picking up a half dozen for myself. The red velvet was so yummy. I try to stay away from there because my a** can't take it.
I've tried all the overhyped cupcake places in the city and still like this Brooklyn jewel the best. (OK, maybe it ties with Sugar Sweet Sunshine.) My favorite red velvet cupcake in the universe and the icebox cake is RIDICULOUS. I'm gaining weight just thinking about this place. It's one of my favorite things about living in Bay Ridge.
This bakery definitely does not disappoint. I had a cookie dough cupcake and it was excellent! Not quite as extravagent as say, Crumbs but because of the location, the friendly staff and their mission to be socially responsible and green (they work on wind and hydro electric power people!) this place is getting 5 FREAKING STARS FROM ME, BABY!
They also have more than cupcakes. Their vast selection of sugary treats is just icing on the cake!
This place is really cute inside and has a huge selection of cupcakes, cakes, rice krispies treats, breads and assorted flavors of teas and coffees. The problem I have with the place is that it can not compete with flavor or value with the likes of Crumbs in NYC. Now while the cupcakes were not bad, they just tasted like any cupcakes you could make at home and were a tad dry. They were small and when I go to a cupcake place I want to buy something that looks original and they did not. So they do not get 5 stars since I have been spoiled by the best cupcakes in NY already.
p.s.---I tried the red velvet and the yellow cake with chocolate frosting
The lightest, fluffiest, almost-marshmallow-esque cloud of frosting that doesn't have such a massive amount of sugar as to give me a toothache..or a headache. The cake part was just as yummy and buttery. I had the coconut dream, with flakes of real coconut and my partner in crime had the red velvet. We were impressed and so deliciously pleased.
This shop is in a great neighborhood and the staff is very kind. Grab your cupcake and walk along the Narrows!! Or you can stick around the bakery, grab a seat in the front and watch them bake through the windows in the back wall!
If I ever get married, they're totally going to make me a cupcake tower wedding cake!
I love these cupcakes and dream about them on occassion. Loved them so much I even started selling the suckers in a food service operation I ran.
Owner is a former manager of the famed Magnolia bakery - and I love this bakery better than the much hyped about and tourist run Magnolia's! :)
Try the Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting... Mmmm...
A great place for croissants! I don't know what's inside these unique little baked goods but it's the best tasting croissants ever! One caveat.... get there super early they sell out fast!
Little Cupcake is undoubtedly cute. It's hard to pass by, look through the window, and not want to go in. The cupcakes look delicious, but I was disappointed to find that they were dry and covered in too much frosting. Cupcake mix would have been better. I've tried a few of their cakes (red velvet, Brooklyn Blackout, Dreaming Princess), and aside from being on the sweet side and having more frosting than I would like, they are good. Little Cupcake serves illy coffee, which is delicious and necessary to balance out the sweetness of any food purchased there. Overall, a good place to get coffee, but too sweet for me.
Hm. The cupcake was...meh.
I gots me a vanilla buttercream one. The frosting had a nice classic consistency, but the cake part was very heavy and dense, seemingly well on its way to Stale-land. I almost threw it at a windowpane to see if it would shatter the glass.
Just kidding. I devoured that shit. I shall not waste even a mediocre cupcake.
Three stars for uber-nice employees and for reprezentin' in the desperate cupcake wasteland of Bay Ridge.
I've never met a cupcake I didn't like (I swear) so this place automatically gets 5 stars. The frosting is of that yummy, whipped, buttercream type, and the cake is flaky and moist and delicious. Honestly, if I could give it 6 stars, I would. It's close to my hood, so whenever I get a craving for a cupcake the LCB is just a hop skip and a jump away and I dont have to haul my sugar-craving self to Magnolia or Crumbs in Manhattan. I'm so proud that Bay Ridge is catching on to the cupcake trend - Brooklynites need their little fix of frosting, too.
WHY ISN'T THIS ON HERE YET!
anyways....the little cupcake bake shop in bayridge is one of the best kept secrets in all of brooklyn. I am a huge cupcake connoisseur and when you want variety this is the place to go.
My personal favorite is the Southern Red Velvet with the cream cheese icing and of course the peanut butter cupcakes.
Don't be fooled by the name though! Cupcakes aren't the only amazing items on their menu. They also offer some of the best banana pudding Ive ever tasted as well as their Apple Pie.
The Little Cupcake also delivers locally. I had called them very last minute on a friends birthday to have them deliver to his place of business. They were the nicest people and he had his birthday cupcake platter within 2 hours. I couldn't have been more pleased.
So if you're ever in the 'Ridge be sure to stop by the little treasure. You will not be disappointed.
I'm so glad I don't live near this place. I'd be so sugar-ridden and jittery. It's not that the cupcakes are all that great, it's that the whole place is just so cute! They'll also box up a couple, a foursome, a half-dozen, a dozen, you get the idea. They even do special colors of frosting orders if you call ahead. So nice!
The rice pudding is good, really good. Everyone seems to buy the banana something or other. Every time I got for a red velvet cupcake, someone is buying this banana pudding thing. The coffee is quite tasty in its cappuccino form.
Now, the cupcakes. I love the different flavors, and I'll keep buying them to bring to parties and as thank yous and whatnot. However, they can be a bit dry. Thankfully, that doesn't matter because the frosting is orgasmic. Yes, I said it. The big O for frosting. I don't know if the red velvet frosting has something extra in it, like sour cream, but it's so, so good. I've been known to eat the frosting first and leave some cake. Oh my!
I've only ever had good experiences with the staff. I don't find them snooty or rude or self-absorbed. That's pretty common with places these days.
I suggest red velvet, chocolate cloud, and the rice pudding. I want to try the German Chocolate Cake with some nice coffee next time. Nahhhhh.
I am now responsible for bringing my parents cupcakes of many varieties to their home every time I come home.
Saturday and Sunday morning coffee can be purchased no where else.
Add to the great food and coffee the fact that the place is eco-friendly trying to reduce waste and carbon emissions. Spending more to purchase wind generated electricity is a model more businesses should follow.
I wanted to love you Little Cupcake. You have stolen my idea and disappointed me. The store is so cute with white, pink and green coloring on the outside, they have little tables that you can sit and enjoy either inside or outside (weather permitting). They have so many varieties, its really hard to choose. I have only been here once, but I drive by many many times. Ok so my experience, the smell is heavenly, a sugary aroma of icing and cakes. My choice it was between the devils food cupcake or the Red velvet. Never had red velvet and I have been seeing them everywhere so I ask the guy which is better. His choice, Red Velvet. Ok I will take it. Now at 1.50 a cupcake I'm hoping its gonna be good.
Oh no....its not good. Its very dry, the cream cheese icing was too cream cheesy..overpowered the dry cake part. Oh maybe I should have had the devils food. I will give it another try, but honestly Tasty pastry makes a nice moist vanilla cupcake and they only charge .75 per cupcake.
Why can't Little Cupcake live up to its name? It would be perfect-if the cupcakes were good. They're cute, colorful and plentiful, but they're just too sweet and a bit dry. They're just eh compared to the delectable Robicelli's cupcakes a few blocks away. The banana pudding is just a soggy mess. Yet I come here enough to be a regular, thanks to the charming corner location and spacious seating that make it a good hangout and I settle for the cakes, which are much better than the cupcakes, including the pistachio icebox cake, humming bird and princess cake.
Light frosting, moist cupcakes, a good selection to choose from, cute location, reasonable prices. They also serve Illy coffee, which is the best. I really like this place. It's great for your tastebuds, not for your waistline.
I so wanted to love this place. The atmosphere is so adorable you just want to run out and kiss a puppy when you're all done. You can't help but feel all "butterflies and sunshine" when you walk in, even in the dead of winter. The cupcakes are visual masterpieces. The first time I ordered I found the cupcakes dry (cookie dough cupcake). I figured it was a fluke and it was late in the evening so I chalked it up to they'd been sitting out too long. I went again first thing on a Saturday morning to pick up a dozen to bring to a party later on that day. Again, I was a little disappointed. They look absolutely to-die-for but I crave a nice, moist cake with my yummy delicious frosting. The cake just didn't deliver.
Good cupcakes... mmmmm
Good coffee.. mmmmm
Oh, did I mention I'm writing this review in the spirit of Homer Simpson? MmmmmmMMmm, cakes and pies....
In case you thought you might miss this building, don't worry, you wont. It's white and pink like a cupcake. Imagine that?
I love this place. The cupcakes are amazing and the coffee drinks are too! If you are in the neighborhood, you gotta go!
