Ten of us came here on a Sunday afternoon for a baby shower. We all indulged in the My Lady's Respite tea menu. We selected English Breakfast and Strawberry Peach tea. Both were very nice.
The tea sandwiches were all pretty good with the exception of the Pesto which I really didn't care for. The cinnamon and blueberry scones were very good and the gingerbread cookies were delightful.
This is a nice and quaint place to come for a special celebration but for about $30 per person, this is not a place to come to on a regular basis if you are looking for a hearty, meat-filled meal!
In addition, although the ladies were mostly pleasant, they basically told us to scat exactly at 1 hour and 45 minutes into the party as they stated they needed to prep the table for another party. Funny thing was when we left, there wasn't another party waiting nor was the place filled. At most, there were three other tables at the time.
RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!!!
the ladies that work here are horrible. they have no common sense when it comes to seating or how to correct one of their mistakes. it's called apologetic ... look it up. i will be calling the owner of of lisa's to make a complaint.
the one in campbell is much better. not only is the service 1,000 x's better but the selection and quality of the food is better too. the campbell location actually make the children's plate. not just put a frozen smucker's crust-less sandwich, and some frozen mini pizzas on the plate and charge a ridiculous amount.
i guess i shouldn't complain. it is located in santana row. they do have the standard rude and incompetent servers. but the workers were not young college student punks. women at least in their 30's and over ... so i'm not sure what the reason for their sophomoric behavior was.
How cute is this place? My sis Sherry has been DYING to bring me and my other sister here for "high tea" ever since she came here with a few of her own girlfriends. So last week for my birthday, they both treated me to a wonderful experience that was definitely memorable.
We all went with the "My Lady's Respite" food choices but we each got a different type of tea so we could taste each others. We had the Peach Strawberry, Boysenberry Tea, and Tropical Fruit. I couldn't help but drop 2 sugar cubes in every cup of tea I had-- what can I say-- I like sweet! The cookies and jam served with the tea was super good too, I filled up on them while waiting for our main entrees. I thought the food portion was perfect, we were all sooo stuffed after we finished our dessert. The dessert were of the previously frozen variety, and you could really tell, so the only thing I really enjoyed was the Madeline cookie.
Service was just ehhh. Our maid/waitress spilled some of our tea as she poured our first cups, a bit off-putting considering pouring tea is one of her main duties, one would think she had it perfected. She also seemed aloof, and seemed to rather not be there. I also saw those aforementioned fruit flies/gnats and they annoyed us a few times... they really need to get control of that problem.
Overall, this was a fun place to go, albeit expensive (although they wouldn't let me pitch in for the bill) but definitely a place to try out with your girlfriends at least once.
I have to admit, I felt a little awkward here. Not because the room we were in was completely, unapologetically pink, and not because everything in said pinkest of rooms was doll-sized, but because someone sitting at the tiny table beside us had brought a boy. A grown-up one.
Dudes: you do not belong here. No. Never. If someone you're seeing suggests you come here, she probably hates you. A lot. If, however, you're a girl enamored with girly frou-frou shit (as I am), feel free to try this on for size. The decor is so adorable it's almost creepy. I'm fairly certain my eyes took on a glassy sheen as I sat there defiling all their pretty things with my grubby commoner's fingers.
I had My Lady's Respite while my fellow lady had the Summer Regatta (each $22.95). Both the teas were awesome-- I could have sat there all day drinking pot after tiny pot and faking a British accent with my pinky extended skyward.
The food was just ok. Unlike other reviewers, I felt full upon finishing. I distinctly remember pausing after taking a delicate bite of some puff pastry concoction and saying to my friend, "This shit is filling."
All in all, it was fun. I'd only ever taken afternoon tea at Neiman Marcus before, and while I liked it better at Neiman's, I'm glad I tried it here. It was like being on drugs! The kind that makes you think you've been transported to a dollhouse. The employees in maid uniforms were also a trip (read: awkward).
we had a reservation for three people, and when two of us walked in, the maiden-in-a-rush said to us, "oh, your party is over there.." nodding her head in a certain direction, and kept on walking. we were confused, since we were the party, and knew that our other friend was running late. we peek to where she was pointing to, and see a table full of asian women.
now, i know that we were two asian women as well, but assuming immediately as we walked in the door that we were with them JUST b/c we're asian seems a little bit racist to me. that just left a really bad taste in my mouth. strike one.
once our party of three was complete, we ordered from the (expensive) menu, and started chatting. the tea came. i don't know if i like it that they serve the first cup for you. how long had the pot been steeping? anyway, there was an insect in our cream, which was disgusting. when we pointed it out, there were no apologies, just "oh.." i mean, i'm glad they brought us another thing of cream, but c'mon. does this sort of thing happen so often that it doesn't even surprise you anymore? strike two.
so the food comes out, and it's really nothing special. it doesn't taste bad, but nothing to rave about, either. the service was mediocre throughout our meal, and do they really have to wear those super outdated costumes? our friend also told us that when she came on a weekday, the prices were 50% cheaper for the exact same thing. ok, that's strike three.
stick to lovejoy's tea room in san francisco. that place has a lot more selection (not to mention shepherd's pie!) great service, more for your money, and they're not racist!
i am not coming back to this place.
I love it here!
Despite what others say, the ladies that worked there were as sweet as pie. I came in with my other 3 bffls for an 18th birthday lunch on a Thursday. One of my friends went crazy and squealed at every cute thing in there, and even asked the waiter (dressed up in very 1800s) if she could take a picture of her, and surprisingly, she obliged.
I ordered the Duchess' Delight, which came with a ham and cheese quiche, a scone, lemon tart, and 3 cucumber sandwiches. All of us were already starting to get full off of the YUMMY gingerbread cookies they leave in a white jar on the side to eat with your tea. We all left very full. I couldn't even finish my dessert! I think it was the perfect amount. The tea that comes with duchess' delight is a boysenberry tea. Very good, with a sugar cube. So yes, the place was so darling (but maybe not so for the boys..you can leave them somewhere else in sRow). I would definitely recommend this place to my other friends.
The reason I gave it 4 stars is because when we went there were these pesky little bugs that always flew around us and even landed on our desserts. We had to keep asking for a new slice, but then we realized that they might have landed on the food even before we got it. Other than that, I love Lisa's Tea Treasurers!
Afternoon tea is my favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon. Little finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and flavorful tea. It seems like some of the reviewers aren't knowledgeable about these places. Yes, its pretentious, and yes its expensive! That's the essence of afternoon tea! I wouldn't be surprised if women came dressed in those old flowery dresses, because thats what this IS. So know what to expect people. Men, if you want to come here, make your girlfriend drag you here cuz otherwise... you might lose some of your manhood.
It has been awhile since I've had afternoon tea so I can't really compare this place to others, but it satisfied my craving and its at Santana Row so I can go shopping after, yay!
I had a piece of cheesecake and some tea for $11.95. Overpriced, much?
I guess you are paying for the experience.
My experience: I was the only guy there old enough to watch a PG-13 movie. It was literally a lot of wannabe trophy wives, their bratty daughters, some little boy probably dying of embarrassment on the inside, my PLI (primary love interest), and myself.
The place is very pink. It is really pretentious, but then again so is everything else is Santana Row.
Anyway, the tea is excellent. Unfortunately, you can't just come in for just tea. You have to eat lunch or dessert there, which is pricey. I saw the food come out to the neighboring tables, which are mere inches away and it not look very appetizing. The desserts I actually tried were average at best.
But yeah, the tea is really good. So in the future, I'll just buy the tea from here and take it home, like a real man.
I took my niece here for her 8th birthday. I asked if they do anything special for birthday. The lady said NO. For the price you pay for I expect something. It was ok. Would I go back, No. I didn't like the fix menus. Nothing in one fix menu that I like. The seat was tight. It is hard to get out.
Don't get me wrong, the place is cute. Great experience for my niece. I will try another Tea place next time.
A wonderful place for tea and at an old English setting. I've gone to quite a few Tea houses and this one is the best. The ladies were polite. We made reservations for 1:30pm on a Sunday, but got there early at 12pm and they were able to seat us with no waiting.
I had " My Lady Respite" and my boyfriend had the spring special. I forgot what the spring special had but "my lady respite" had 5 different petite sandwiches (Cheddar Cheese and Tomato, Egg Salad Supreme, Cucumber, Pesto, Chicken Waldorf), Portobello Puff, scone, Madeleine, Mini Chocolate Cream Puff and a Mini Tart.
The tea and the food were matched well and i don't know about some, but I was full by the time I finished my tea and dessert. The sandwiches were delightful and I would recommend trying this place out. I will definitely come here again.
I admit that it seems pricey, but its so worth it.
thank go i read vanessa w. and monkey p.'s review because i was about make a reservation for my daughters 3rd birthday party at this location. thank you yelp you saved me again!

This is a nice place. It is a lot cuter than the place that we went to in Fremont, but the previous… Read more »
Totally a girls' place to go. I don't it's a really good place to go for a date. The food portions are TINY. Not sure why the ladies who work there are so fat. The teas and everything are very dainty so I was afraid that I'd break soemthing when I was in there. They have really cute little sandwiches and scones.
Go there w/ your mom, sis, grandma, or girl friend.
Once, we went with some guys (spent $25 + tip for the meal) and afterwards, they had to go to McDonalds to grab some burgers. For $25, you get a small sandwhich, some scones, cream, tea, and some cookies. The Madaline cookies are so normal and I would not say any of the cookies are that good.
This is where I learn how to behave like a proper girlie girl- or at least while I am there. I have been here 3-4 times with my also not so girlie girl friend Sarah. We probably should just go to the Peet's coffee next door where we fit right in, but somehow we ends up with Lisa's Tea Treasure, sipping Boysenberry tea in a fancy tea cup instead of non-fat latte in a paper cup and catch up with each other's crazy life.
We usually order 2 different plates and share each of the items. My favorites are My Lady's Respite and The Duchess' Delight. Funny... every time we try to cut those little sandwiches in half, the little sandwich disfigures and whatever is in between the bread just spills out. But we do it anyway.
Do share what's on the plate since there is plenty to fill you up. At first I thought that I need to go eat some real food after wards when I saw those little mini tiny sandwiches and pastries, but surprisingly I was pretty full when we were done.
Very dainty, cozy and cute place to have properly prepared pot of tea and some fancy "tea munchies". It would be a good place for baby and bridal showers for sure.
What better way to feel like a pampered lady than heading off to a lunchtime tea with some lovely coworkers? Birthday celebration in full effect, our cute little party of 8 had lunch here this week. It's been a while since I've been to Lisa's...the old LG location from years past was my favorite for a little while. This new Santana Row location was not even on my radar. You come here for the experience and to spend some tea-time with your friends...not to have a gourmet 5 star meal...unfortunately.
On a good note, portions have been super-sized since I last visited. Which is a good thing because honestly, $22.50 for lunch is a little pricey for some tiny triangle sandwiches and an admittedly-amazing-chocolate-mousse-torte.
So I was very happy to see that I wouldn't surface at 3pm, starving and knawing on my arm. The sandwiches were double what I remember, and the other little goodies that came with were more than enough. I only ate about 3/4 of my meal...resisting the urge to pack up the sweets and trot home with them.
The ladies here are...interesting. Friendly, but a little too Mom-like in how they treat you. It almost seems like if you deviate from what they had planned for you, you need a good spanking!
I'm a sucker for their little gift shop...me the impulse shopper. While it's not my style, my Mom tends towards the lace and roses, so this is a fab place to find a giftie.
Absolutely LOVE their Earl Grey Tea...so much so that we bought a box of it (and another box of some berry tea we liked), and plan to have High-Tea almost daily for the rest of the summer. A little milk and a cube of sugar and I'm in heaven. Who knew tea was so seductive? Now where are my crumpets....
Lisa's is too old school Victorian for me. And the food really isn't that great. I can throw a more sophisticated tea party for my friends in my own home.
However, the service is really good though.
Soo cute. Make a reservation. The sandwiches and portions in general are large so consider it a late lunch - don't eat beforehand. The ladies who serve you are courteous and adorable, and they let you substitute whatever tea you want with your order.
One star off for the craziness that parking at Santana Row has become on the weekends. Some lady RAN OVER THE PARKING CURB cursing and claiming that she was waiting first around the corner and almost ran us over. It's just parking, people.
I love coming here; I feel like such a girlie girl.
I hosted my cousin's bridal shower here and they gave us a private room. They were very accommodating and the tea was lovely.
I've since frequented this place often with girlfriends. The price is very reasonable ~$20-25 per person with all-you-can drink tea. Sure you can have "tea" at a much cheaper price but the ambiance and setting of Lisa's Tea Treasures is worth it.
The little danishes, sandwiches, and desserts are scrumptious. There's also all-you-can-eat cookie biscuits w/jams provided on every table.
Make sure you call ahead to make reservations as they have specific seating times and can be filled up quickly.
Minus one star for closing early, making it difficult to come on weekdays for the working girl.
I know food served with tea is supposed to be small portions but come on...I left totally hungry. The overall experience there is not relaxing as an afternoon of tea should be because the space is so jam packed - and they book table reservations so close together that you cannot linger long before they let you know they need your table for another party. I went there with a group and a couple friends were not able to make it, since we had made reservations they charged us for the two people who didn't show. That is just wrong and this is why I dinged them from 3 stars down to2. I can't understand why this place is so crowded all the time...
This place is so freakin girly.....but fun ;-)
This is what I ordered (yes I cut and pasted it)......
My Lady's Respite(tm) (An Afternoon Tea Plate) A lovely Earl Grey Tea, served with Tea Sandwiches (Cheddar Cheese and Tomato, Egg Salad Supreme, Cucumber, Pesto, Chicken Waldorf), Portobello Puff, Scone, Double Devonshire Cream & Preserves, Madeleine, Mini Chocolate Cream Puff and a Mini Tart (22.50)
...now you see why I had too.....It was sooo very scrumptious!!
(If you are ever forced to out on a date with someone that you are soo not into.....bring them here and tell them it's your favorite restaurant ever!!! You will scare that person away so fast it would be hilarious.)
It's a cute little place to go with your girlfriends. I went once for a friend's birthday and it was a lot of fun. My experience here was much better than the tea party I had at Neiman Marcus cafe. The decor is really girly and makes you feel like a child again. Waitress in maid uniforms come and to serve you when you ring a little bell. The food is average, but overall something different and fun to try with a few of your good friends.
I was very much looking forward to Lisa's Tea Treasures, so much so that I recommended this place to a friend as a baby shower location. I wish I could take that recommendation back. For $30 you get 4 half sandwhiches, a pot of tea, and a small dessert place with four 1 inch desserts. If you drink milk with your tea you'll have to ask for it. Now the ordinary, over priced food would be okay if the service was delightful, but it wasn't. It was bordering on rude. If you have to go to this place make sure your party arrives together and leaves long before their two hour time limit is up, and don't expect your waitress to ever see if you need a warm pot of tea.
We had my daughter's 10th Birthday party at Lisa's, it was a hit with 8 little girls. The serving sizes are perfect, the tea is great and the food was good. We shared the front room with a baby shower party and 2 other side tables, it was never "too loud" or uncomfortable.
Great place to go for Tea, make sure you make reservation, always crowded.
As a former Anglophile, I adore afternoon tea. But Lisa's Tea Treasures left my head swimming with cliches ("High Tea Reaches New Lows!" shout urchin newsboys hawking the Times of London).
And though English food, in general, may not be a gastronome's delight, there is usually some comfort (and yummy sconage) involved with tea service. But, no, not here. All of the traditional tea time fare disappointed. The scones were nasty, little walnut triangles that couldn't even be saved with clotted cream. They managed to mangle the egg and ham finger sandwiches, which seemed like a bad chop salad stuffed between wonder bread (but the most disgusting one involved tomatoes and shredded kraft chedder). The petit fours were store bought pastries that sat mostly untouched on my plate. And the piece de resistance, which came with my friend's $24.95 summer special was the frozen white chocolate shell sorbet, which came in a Bindi (the mass produced Italian dessert brand) wrapper.
Lady Grey must be turning over in her grave over the thought of Costco products placed on lead-coated China and passed off as "her Lady's Respite."
Lisa's Tea Treasures is a funny little establishment off the main Santana Row strip that almost makes you feel as though you're participating in one of Alice and the White Rabbit's tea parties. What a sight my cousins and I were, dropping heavy silverware, toasting a little too roughly with the delicate china, pilfering the biscuits (hey, they're free) for home enjoyment - all in a Victorian tea parlor.
Indeed, if we girls felt a little out of place, imagine the sight of men sitting in these respectable parlors at a small linen-covered table laden with extraneous accoutrements...
The idea is to have "afternoon tea" from a pricey but very traditional selection of tea "packages." Each package comes with a pot of tea and then a variety of English delicacies. For instance, one of my party got the "Duchess's Delight," which comes with boysenberry tea (you can substitute teas if you prefer), a slice of ham and cheese quiche, cucumber tea sandwiches, and a scone with devonshire cream and preserves, and a lemon tart - all for $19.95. Another special we ordered was "My Lady's Respite" which consisted of Earl Grey tea, a variety of tea sandwiches, a portabella puff scone, a tea tart, a mini chocolate cream puff, and a tea cookie - also $19.95. And at your service is a lady all dolled up in a pink-aproned outfit.
Is the food good? I'd say it's just okay, but then again, I've never been a fan of English food. Overall I'd say the allure of Lisa's Tea Treasures is the novelty and experience. They say it's a great place for showers, although I guarantee it would be quite costly.
This is a great place to go with mom, sisters or girlfriends. Super girlie. I recommend you make a reservation since they are always busy and they do not rush their customers.
Being here is like playing in a tea house with your girlfriends. The sandwiches and sweets are scrumptious and I could eat the entire basket of biscuits. Not very good for the diet..
The tea selection is great. After spending time here you come out feeling like sugar and spice and everything nice. It's expensive but worth every feel good dollar you spend here.
Is there a rating for Holy S***t You Must Be Joking or I'm Stuck in a Disney Movie?
I am being dragged to Lisa's Tea Treasures yet again, and after last week's foray, I'm all but going to beg for wax removal instead, since it's less painful than going to tea at Lisa's Tea Treasures.
The bell dinging is a perfect example of why LTT is bogus. "Just ring the bell for service," says the weirdo (they are always weirdos) server. Then, when you do ring the fricking thing (I did, actually miss lunch for this), it always prompts the most annoyed look on the face of the server "Passive aggressive witches. Give me a bell? Then don't give me a dirty look when I ring it.
Service: never, ever has been on par with the worst McDonald's service. And Micky D's has got edible food.
Ambience: It's like my grandmother's bathroom jumped out of her grave and puked into a restaurant. Eau de 80s florals.
Food: You have got to be kidding me? My spouse ordered the kids menu "Jesters Surprise" and you could say, for certain, it was a surprise. Shock, even. Pizza-ettes, Peanut Butter and Jelly and Pigs in a Blanket? I've had a lot of teas...none has felt more like someone at LTT had just been shopping the frozen food aisle in Costco for this meal.
"Real Tea": If you're serious about tea, book your pals into the Four Season's lobby at tea time (duh, 4 p.m.) and enjoy what feeling like a lady at tea is truly about. Select, rare teas, scones with devonshire cream and a bit of lemon curd. Top it off with a kir royale to merge happy hour into high tea time and then you've got a time worth spend.
Lisa's Tea Treasure is not a place I would ever go again -- unless one more friend has one more dang baby and I get draffed for one more shower. Argh. Jester's Surprise, here I come.
So the thing with true tea time is something you've kinda got to be raised with. I grew up in Singapore, an ex-British colony - tea is all important, and savoring good conversation with quality dainties over good, hot tea is a necessary part of life. If you do it enough, it becomes casual and integral - like having lunch with friends. So you'll get over the extra silverware and pretty cups eventually. :)
Lisa's Tea treasures, however, is more "quaint and hokey" than "refined and leisurely." The tea room is cramped, noisier than it should be, your servers are juggling being cashiers, servers, and floor managers and are wearing hilarious aprons while not being particularly interested in ensuring you have a quality tea hour. They also have you on schedule - seating times that try to have you out to seat someone else. That is not how tea should be done.
I agree with others that the food is average, particularly for the price. It is nice that they have variations on the savory pastry options. But above all, tea time should occur in a certain atmosphere, and should include copious amounts of high quality tea. The amount of tea you get is not much here (they have small pots) and the cream wasn't cream or cold and fresh (I think it was half and half and had been sitting out).
It's not like you were having dinner at a popular restaurant where these little things are hard to keep on top of, either. These details are part of the experience. You should want for nothing but the highest quality table stuffs served in the highest quality fashion. And if I recall correctly, it was not loose leaf tea. You don't have high tea with bagged tea. Seriously.
If you want a proper tea time with more bang for your buck (giant tea pots as big as your head), impeccable pouring and a properly trained server, orchids on your plates and the hush of relaxation, go to the Fairmont's Afternoon Tea. Or, if you want the experience of a Victorian Tea House, have at.
Also, you might find you have a better tea experience if you cater your own tea party - Lisa's will package up whatever food you ask, including the tea. Then set up your own table at home with the nicest place settings you've got, a small floral display, some ambient music, and a fun set of china (think Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn) and you can have your own modern version, your own way. I've done this by the way, and it rocks.
VERY GIRLY! If you are smart ladies, don't ever bring your man in here. It's just not a guy thing at all.
So, I came here with a girlfriend this past weekend and we had a great time here. The service was great, my tea/food was good, and the little girls having a tea party next to us were too cute!
I had a delicious vanilla tea and my friend had a strawberry tea. Both were wonderful. They were very accommodating when I wanted to switch up my order a bit (they have little meals planned out with matching tea.) So, I had a spinach salad with strawberry's and almonds. Very good! Then I had a pesto sandwich, garlic and parmesan puffs (so good! seriously, I could eat 10 of them right now!), and some fruit. For my dessert I had a chocolate and raspberry torte (I think that's what it was. Torte?) Everything was very good! I would definitely come back here....but only with my girlfriends.
Total yum. OK, if you're coming here you know that you're going to be in a relaxed state of mind, and Lisa's does her best to keep you there. Calm music, quaint decor, little rooms, and delectable bites. Pair that with hot tea and you have a mini vacation from your hectic working schedule.
Compared to their location at the Pruneyard this one feels a bit more restaurant-like than home-like.

I went with my sister to have lunch at Lisa's Tea Treasure today because it was her birthday! She also had a half price coupon for a second meal which helped out a lot when the bill arrived. You can grab a coupon near the guestbook that you sign in with your address or just ask the lady at the counter because it can be pricey here.
The service was nice but kind of slow...My sister and I are the kind of chicks that are used to eating fast because like what Donna and I talked about couple days ago, if you don't eat in our household fast and furious, then you end up with crumbs. So, that's how we roll. hehe So, I had to remind my sister that this is a tea place and it is suppose to be slow and relaxing, but she was becoming impatient cuz the girl was getting hungry. Finally, our food came and everything was a fairytale. I definitely recommend this place for a nice and relaxing time. Boys...you should try this place! I dare you!
For a good hangout place to catch up with girlfriends, I give this place 4 stars. The food would be only be 3 stars.
I was introduced to Lisa's tea many many years ago at their Willow Glen location. It was in a cute two story Victorian home. Each room was decorated with a theme. It brought back wonderful memories when my friends and I remember that place.
Before the Santana Row location was open, they also had a location in Los Gatos. I liked both of these locations much better than the current one. The rooms with theme really makes the experience memorable. I recalled seeing little girls all dressed up for tea.
Came here with a friend to experience the cuteness and novelty of tea time.
That's all it really was... novelty and cuteness. The sandwiches weren't great (definitely had better - tea at the Plaza in NYC) and the tea wasn't anything special (got the champagne raspberry). Service was so-so.
The setting, the tables and chairs, cute wallpaper, the cute tea sets, the whole getup of the waitresses... all pretty nice and amusing. Very pink.
Quite expensive for what it was... I'm not sure if I'd come back because you're really just paying for the experience. This one is in Santana Row so it fits right in with all the other shops.
My sister treated me to "tea" here on a Monday afternoon after a nice massage at Burke Williams. We got there about 2pm so it wasn't crowded at all. Our server was very pleasant and nice. Good service but it was not a busy time.
This place is very cutesy, foofoo, feminine, girlie, doilies on all the plates...I don't mind it once in a while.
I can't remember the name of my meal (Duchess Delight...Lady's Respite or whatever), but I got a tea of my choice (I chose Earl Grey), small ham/cheese quiche, scone, 3 or 4 tiny cucumber sandwiches with no crust, and a decent size lemon tart for $21.50. Yes, it was filling but I think that's kind of pricey for what you get. Biscoff biscuits on the table just as other reviewers mentioned, along with small dishes of Devonshire cream, jam, and lemon curd.
I really don't have complaints except for the price and the type of food is just something that I don't want to eat all the time. I am also not a tea connoisseur, but my Earl Grey was tasty-it was loose leaf. I wouldn't mind coming back again, but I don't think I would go out of my way to come here.
They do not take American Express.
I actually enjoy going here. I feel very girly. The whole afternoon tea, makes me feel like a princess. Okay, so that is a little corky. But, I dont go here for the food, it really isnt all that. But their tea is very delicious, my favorite is the raspberry champagne. The vanilla floral is also very yummy. This place isnt for small babies, I made the mistake of taking my 14 month old, they dont have highchairs. So, next time, I will have a sitter. I go more for the ambiance than anything...cute little tea cups, and biscuits with lemon curd, strawberry preserves. and whipped butter. Yummy!!! I think this is a great place to go with your mom, grandmother, best friend, leave the babies and men at home.
Also, you can purchase their tea to take home. Which reminds me, I need to go buy some more Kings Ransom.
What a delectably fun place! Came here for my birthday and the first thing I thought was that this place is super cute; I'm no spring chicken, and even I got all squealy and girly!
The food is exactly what you'd expect, small sandwiches, scones, salads, bite size desserts. We thought for sure we'd have tea here then would need to run out for a pizza shortly afterwards. I was suprisingly satisfied after my meal! Tea selections were wonderful. Admittedly, this is my first high-tea, so I have nothing to base it on other than my total enjoyment of the experience.
By the way, I beg to differ that you cannot bring a man to this place. There were three there at the time, my husband being one of them. But he's a really good sport and always up to trying something new. My husband and daughters just laughed and had a good time, joking about our lack of civility -- this place will remind you that you have no table manners if you weren't raised with any. (Okay one guy WAS in a pink shirt, and the other one just seemed out of place, eating alone dressed in all black carrying a backpack. Maybe he just grew up in England...)
I'd come back with female friends or family, but I'll let my husband off the hook next time!
Five of us took my cousin to lunch here for a milestone birthday.
The decor is pleasant. We did feel a bit cramped, as we had purses and gifts and sweaters, and not much room around the perimeter of the table. There were several tables filled, and we did have to keep our voices in check.
I was afraid the quantity of the food would not be enough for lunch. After all, this is "tea service", but I was surprised that I was just about bulging after completing the meal. The food was OK, although it felt like some of the items were from Costco, or at least, not made there.
The service was NOT good. My daughter is allergic to tomatoes. I informed our server of this, and she brought her one of the food items that was made with tomatoes. OK, so I pointed this out to her. Well, she never apologizes, just asks what my daughter wants instead. Hey, what can YOU offer? We didn't have the menus in front of us anymore. How about something without tomatoes???
She proceeded to take this slight as a personal insult, although even from the beginning, she was not very warm and fuzzy. It took until the rest of our party was finished eating that she finally brought my daughter a replacement item. By then, we were all on the dessert items, and so it broke the rhythm of the experience.
I find the cost a bit high for what you get. But somebody's gotta pay for that high rent in Santana Row.
So there I was....trapped in my own personal nightmare thinking to myself - "is this really supposed to be a tea shop or am I standing in a shop somewhere in disneyland?"

This location seems a little nicer and well-lit than the Pruneyard one, but it doesn't seem to have the well-portioned rooms to accommodate either small + large groups. Parking can be a challenge at either Satan's Row or the Pruneyard, I prefer the other location.
I went here to buy some tea for part of a friend's wedding gift. Everything was good, but I wasn't blown away. Maybe my expectations were too high, as it sounded like such a great concept. It's worth trying out if you like tea, and I hope to have a cup there soon, but I'm not expecting anything amazing.
In terms of the teas they had for sale, which I assume are the tea's they have for sale in the tea room itself, I was actually not all that impressed. Most seemed a little too overpowering, but not having tasted them myself I cannot be sure. In genera it seemed like a fairly small selection for a tea room, but what do I know. it's also a bit expensive, and yeah the outfits are a little alice in wonderland...
That said, my friends did say the liked the tea. So 3 stars for my overall first impression, but soon to be upgraded I hope.
i made reservations for four a week in advance for a saturday morning. they were really nice on the phone. once the day came our party of four became a party of three. we each decided to get a different food order and just share. they came with little sandwiches, tea or coffee, and dessert. the portions are a bit small. i would have liked it to be bigger since i'm an eater. overall, it's a nice relaxing experience...up until they told us they needed our table for the next party. siiigh...must try another place where we can just linger...
