My favorite doctor on EARTH. I don't ever want to move from SF unless I can take Doctor Sterman with me! Non judgmental, understanding, excellent listener, THOROUGH.
I left feeling so satisfied with my appointment.
I love you doctor Sterman--Also, thank you for calling in my RX when I was in Mexico AND introducing me to Yoga Tree.
Many Thanks!

I injured my wrist so I thought I could see the PCP I signed up for through my insurance. WRONG! A month and a half wait to see new patients, WTF. I know this review is based on not even seeing Dr. Sterman, but I'm pissed off, can't ride my bikes without pain and I want to get this shit fixed. Time to find a new PCP....

I have to say, I've been a patient of Dr Sterman's for 10+ years now & she is top notch. She is always very understanding & not at all judgemental. She offers alternative solutions instead of the usual 'take these pills & you'll be fine' approach.
She really seems to enjoy what she does for a living & seems to have a very fulfilling personal life that shows through in her care as a doctor!
Continuing to testify the positive on behalf of Dr Sterman and her entire office.
Well informed with the latest and greatest. Will really listen and acknowledge your concerns. And leave you better educated, and taken care of.
I feel safe, and absolutely confident I am getting top quality attention and care.

I have to echo the reviews below about Dr. Sterman.
She is exactly the kind of primary care physician that person could ask for. No judgment on your discussions of, well, anything really. You can be honest with her and she will make you feel secure about your decisions, both past and present for your health.
I had a physical with her today and left feeling better than when I came in, and there was nothing wrong to begin with. She makes you feel that she honestly cares about YOU personally, and that is a great feeling to get in today's day and age of crappy health care.
Five Stars!!

I've been seeing Dr. Sterman for 4+ years now. Even though I've moved to LA, I still make the trip up to see her for my annual exams because she's that great.
She once went out of her way and asked her staff to buy a vaccine from another doctor's office, just so I can get my insurance benefits as it expired the next day.
She gives good practical advice to being healthy, not just write you a perscription for a quick fix. Dr. Sterman asks good questions and best of all remembers me when she has tons of patients and I only see her once or twice a year.
Minus one star only because she's so popular it's hard to book an appointment for regular check-up's (I usually call at least a month and a half in advance to be safe). However, there has been several times when I've been really ill and she was able to see me that day.
P.S. Her office has the coolest pens and I'm tempted to steal them

Dr. Sterman really is the best doctor one could ask for. She sincerely cares about you and you really can tell her anything without judgment which is key in getting proper medical treatment. I consider myself so lucky to have her as my doctor.

Gotta jump on the love parade for Dr. Sterman. Easily the best primary care physician I've ever had. I mean, anyone who can talk about contracting Hep C from coke straws, taking your vitamins and recommending yoga in the same breath is rad in my book.

I've been going for maybe 6 years now. She's a good doctor and I am very comfortable with her for certain. And if she's not available, which is definitely one of her drawbacks, there are other doctors in the office that are helpful and available.
For instance - one time I came back from Mexico and was feeling really sort of "off", like my equilibrium was seriously distorted for a few weeks. I couldn't figure it out and so I went to one of Sterman's doctors. He tried to help me with no real information to go on. Then I told him I also had a really swollen thing on my "down there" area, and within 5 minutes, after thoroughly examining my embarrassing yoo-hoo boo-boo, he diagnosed me with a Staph infection! If I didn't mention it then I would have gone home and probably died or gotten really sick.
Well at least I didn't get Montezuma's revenge like the little lady.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Lisa Sterman. She has been my primary care physician for the last eight years and has maintained a level of professionalism and caring that is rarely seen in today's medical community.
I am turning 40 this year thanks to Dr.Sterman I am in the best shape of my life. She has never rushed me during my appointments and always takes the time to answer my questions. She is non judgemental and you can be candid with her about all aspects of your personal life. She has made recommendations over the years which have signifigantly improved the quality of my life. Dr. Sterman is truly a ROCKSTAR in the field of Internal Medicine and my doctor for life.
Her office hired a new doctor (so if she is not available ask to see him).

I cannot say enough about my best doctor ever ever in my whole entire life. She is a tremendously caring, honest and accessible expert. Lisa is an excellent physician and her network of specialists is also really truly top-notch. She never punts on a recommendation and takes whatever you need to ask about seriously but nonetheless remains candid. She also keeps the communication friendly and encourages updates about more mundane things like work and such that give her insight into what's going on and such.
Three important comments: 1) I am a guy and feel 110% comfortable with a female primary care physician (actually feel more comfortable with her than with my male doctors of yore); 2) DO NOT be late. Try it some time and see what I mean. You won't be late ever again! 3) Put your cell phone on vibrate or silent before you enter the office or again push those limits and see what happens. Don't worry, she's not a hard-ass; just trying to make sure we all respect each other and help her stay on schedule etc.

Dr. Lisa rocks. She's been my dr. for almost 10 years now and I lurvs her.
I second the feeling of the previous reviewer about Dr. Lisa being understanding about, um, let's say "alternative" lifestyles.
Very unjudgemental and cool. You really know you can tell her anything.

i'm so excited that dr. sterman is my new doctor. usually, when i meet a new doctor for the first time, i have to ease them into chatting about my weirdo, artsy, freaky lifestyle, and gently break the news of certain topics. but i knew i was in good hands when i mentioned burning man and, not only did she know what it was, but she goes! never have i felt like i could be totally honest with my doctor. she's very personable and casual. and she didn't rush me through my appointment and seemed to actually take me seriously. nice for a change!
