Review from Krissy K.
Lin's has a great selection and great prices. They also often have something different from what the other lei shops on Maunakea are hocking. This was the first place I ever saw Christina-style lei in colors like yellow and pink. This may sound a little odd, but the other nice thing about Lin's is that they are right across the street from my second choice shop, Cindy's. It's nice to be able to go quickly between the two, although I am usually able to find what I want at Lin's.
Many years ago, they screwed up an order for me when I was living on the mainland. However, I have since gotten over it and learned that if you're going to order things far in advance with them, you need to call several times to confirm. The other option is ordering things fairly close to the day you need them. -

I placed my order over the phone with Lin's one month prior to the wedding date. We chose them because they were the most affordable (code for the cheapest). They have relatively consistent reviews across the wedding blogs for being easy to work with and affordable. They were, for the most part...if you aren't interested in the details, skip ahead to the "moral of the story" in the last paragraph.
The gentleman I spoke to was polite and patient. I forgot to include a lei for my groom so I called back several minutes later to add it. He asked if I needed for other people, to ensure I wasn't missing any other important guests, which I appreciated. Of course, after I hung up the 2nd time, I realized that I forgot to order the petals for the flower girl. No big deal, I figured, since that will probably be one of those last minute add items that won't be a hassle for them. He charged my credit card a few days later, I think. I'm fine with that. The day before the wedding, my groom decided he wanted to pick the lei up himself but at 11 AM instead of the original time I asked for, 1 PM. Perfect, I thought. I called and asked the lady (whose English wasn't as good) if we could pick our order up at 11 instead of 1. I don't know if she understood me, but seemed to affirm it anyway. I also asked if we could add the bag of petals. She said they only had pink (I kind of wanted white) for $5--take what you can get and be happy they have them at all, I thought to myself. My bad for waiting so long to order them.
The day of, my love picked up the Best Man, the flower girl, ringer bearer, and went to Lin's. The Best Man hopped out to grab the order. I told them to be sure to count--there should be 19 lei total. He obeyed and a good thing too. It was 1 lei short. He said they seemed to be scurrying to get it together, but a bridesmaid for another wedding arrived to pick up an order for the wedding she was in and this is where it gets...heartbreaking. The order she was there to pick up was never made. Mind you, their wedding had nothing to do with ours, but our Best Man watched this unfold and told me about it and I was truly sad for them. They started offering this bridesmaid random lei that they had in the shop. She was in tears and very upset that they had ruined this for them. The wedding she was in was to start in an hour. I don't know how it ended, but anytime there are tears of sadness on a wedding day...the memories are tarnished.
So our Best Man waited, and waited, and waited...while they tried to resolve her issue. He said a friend of the man working came in and he started chatting with that person, while all hell was breaking loose in the shop, and while he waited for them to finish our one missing lei. After a little while of watching this, he finally stepped in and asked the man about our missing lei, to which he sprouted back into action to find.
After more than 20 minutes of waiting, they finally had all 19 of the lei I ordered, plus the bag of pink rose petals.
Our lei were exactly as ordered and were pretty and smelled great. We also had a large bag of pink petals that gave my Day Of Coordinator lots of leftover to create some great ambiance for us after the wedding (See my review of A Perfect Day).
So, the moral of this story, kids: Order your lei well in advance, confirm your order, allow yourself a good amount of time before your wedding to pick your lei up (as in several hours), and send someone who isn't easily emotional to pick them up...just in case. Best prices available for lei but an ounce of precaution will ensure you are happy with your entire transaction.Listed in: Ball and chain: The Wedding…

Lin's is a tiny shop with a good selection of leis at cheap prices! The Chinatown location makes parking difficult, which is unfortunate as I bet they would do even brisker business if that was resolved. Great reliable lei shop, definitely worth the hassle of Chinatown parking.

The only lei shop my family frequents.
Reasonable prices, helpful staff, pretty and fresh flowers, yay.
I hate dealing with the troubles of driving through Chinatown.. but for us it's worth it. :)Listed in: Best Bang for your Buck in…

They sell the cheapest leis on Maunakea Street... and possibly all of Chinatown.
$3-4 orchid leis. $8-9ish ginger leis. I forgot how much they charged for tuberose leis (the ones that smell so good), but it was under $10 as well.Listed in: Oahu!

Lin's has some really fabulous orchid and specialty leis. They are fresh and the workers are helpful. They let you take the lei out of the boxes to look at them before you buy. I have always believed that Lin's has the nicest lei and I've been shopping here for years.
I received some gorgeous lei from my family last week for graduation and they shop at Lin's too. The fancy orchid lei's are $30-$50, but sooo worth it.
I suggest going with someone while they wait in the car or circle the block since parking is a pain and the butt and a police substation is near by and they will ticket you. -

I can't compare it to other Lei shops in China town since this is the only one we went to in China town. But I can compare it to Maui and it was much cheaper. They picked out a few leis that matched what I was wearing as you will see in the picture, and the store owner took the picture of us! We had read that China town was the place to go for cheap leis and we went on our day in China town.

We bought about 80 orchid leis for all our guests at the rehearsal luau the day before our wedding. This wouldn't have been possible without Lin's Lei Shop. I called 3 weeks before the wedding to place the order and called again the week of to make sure they'd be ready in time. They were ready at 9am and my husband and I picked them up at the hole-in-the-wall shop in Chinatown. Parking is near impossible so be sure to have someone go with you and circle the block or stay in the car while you run in to get them. There were 5-6 women in the back putting together beautiful leis and the guy that rang me up helped me carry the 3 boxes back to the car. I think they were $3 for the orchid leis and we got 4 tuberose leis for the parents which ran about $10-15 I believe. They were fresh, beautiful and lasted all day.

I've been going to Lin's Lei Shop for over 20 years and have sent everyone i know over to Lin's for leis. They are fairly accommodating and the quality of the leis at that price point cannot be beat.

Lin's Lei Shop helped me to create a perfect wedding on Lei Day in Hawaii. We wanted to give all of our guests white orchid leis, but I couldn't find anyone who could provide these at a reasonable price, until I found Lin's Lei Shop. After all, it was Lei Day and we understood that it was the most lei-demanding day there is) - smiles, but we almost didn't get our guest leis. They had the most competitive price too, so we also ordered my bouquets from them which turned out beautiful - and exactly what I wanted. Thanks very much to Tony at Lin's for making our guest leis possible for our wedding - and creating such beautiful bouquets!

the worst customer service ever! The leis arrived completely wilted and they refused to issue a refund nor replacement. Be careful of their 'box' charges. They charge me $45 for the crappy boxes.
