Review from Alex S.
You ever felt like a mechanics actually wanted to fix your car quickly, professionally and without scheming you out of as much money as possible? No? Well go to Liner.
Ok that sounded way too much like a commercial but its what I felt like after I left. It wasn't there was anything magical about getting my tires re-aligned after some a-hole cut me off and made me decide whether I wanted to hit him or the curve (I foolishly chose the curve), What was unique was at no point did I feel like anyone was being anything other than honest with me, and that is rare in the auto repair industry.
I came in at about 10:30 in the morning on a Saterday, they were busy (a good sign) and an older guy with a navy cap on checked with the mechanics and told me to come back in about an hour. It would have been nice if I could have gotten an appointment to come when I called the day before instead of just being told to come in whenever but oh well. I came back at about 12 and to my surprise they were immediatly ready to take a look at my car. They gave it a good inspection to make sure they knew what was wrong with it (thankfully it was just the alignment) and quickly re-aligned it. Then gave me some pressure free recommendations on new tires which I asked about. All told I was only there for about 45 minutes and only spent $45.
Check their website if your going in for tires or an alignment there are really good coupons. I printed out a 50% OFF alignment coupon that saved me $45. -

Everybody probably has their own place to get tires. All I know is that when some motherfucker slashed my tires last week, I wasn't sure where to go in my area and Yelp (for once) just couldn't help me out.
So after looking around, I found this place. They were very friendly and fast. Replacing all four tires took less than a half hour. And while I didn't do enough research that I could assuredly call them cheap, they DO have a low price guarantee and $10-$25 off coupons to print out at their website. -

The upsale I got from Liner was insisting on a much higher speed rating than I needed. The car is only for in town driving and I was told I had to match the speed rating, which cost me over $100 more.

Review from Eric S.

Hubby and I got our tires from Liner in early 2008, after hearing good things around town, and they're an NPR supporter. So, I feel like a good Cambridge ghurl when I support those who support my high-falutin news. They had fair prices and they're not far out of town.
Sadly, I got a flat recently, and it wasn't one that allowed for a patch. So, we called up and got a new tire ordered in for the next business day (it's a fancy tire that's not normally in stock). I was hoping some sort of manufacturer's warranty would cover the cost, but no such luck (guess I shouldn't have smacked that curb?) ;)
Well, they got the car in and fixed in a super fast time (probably since we got there at 8AM on Saturday.) And, while we were there, the owner had a kids show on for his son, and I just COULD NOT stop watching the bunny show. Hubby would say things to me but all I heard was talking bunnies... Can't look away from bunnies... Educational bunnies in my head. **snap snap** OK I'm back! *panting a little bit*
The only ding I have: The tire wasn't cheap, I think more than we paid originally. But, still less than the original, crappy, lower-performing tires that came on the car, so I can't be too mad. And, the owner is kinda hot, so I didn't put up a big fight...
I'm just sayin' -

These guys have saved me three times now.
The first time my brakes went out--new brakes (installed someplace else) while I had my kids in the car with me. I made it to Liner (I was pretty close) they told me what the problem was, entertained my kids while we waited, helped me figure out how to get the car back the place that installed the brakes. Nothing in it for them--they got no money from this whatsoever. They were just so nice.
Second time I got a flat, they changed it in probably ten minutes tops, I wasn't even late to work. And they didn't try to claim I needed to replace any of the other tires either.
Third, this cold, cold winter my light comes on for tire pressure. I have no idea what to do, no tire gauge, I drive around town looking for a working air pump--didn't find one--pull into liner 5 minutes before closing. Some random guy fills up all my tires to the proper specs, won't accept any money.
I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! -

Came here the other day when we had a flat. They quickly patched my tire and replaced the spare with it while I waited probably about 15-20min. Cost me $40. I was pretty happy =)

Beware of these guys.....very unprofessional and careless in their work. First time I went to them to mount four tires on a high end Mercedes AMG, i had to return the next day because they neglected to add a standard sealant that would prevent the tires from deflating. The third time I went was much worse...
One friday I got a flat tire. I purchased a replacement online, to be delivered to Liner Tire the following day at an $80 overnight delivery surcharge. I called Liner Tire immediately after ordering because I am a very precise person and I like everything to be well planned out. I tell them the tire would arrive at noon the next day, and ask if i could come by between 12 and 2pm...they said sure, no problem. The next day I call at 12:15 only to find that they are closed. Their website says they are open till 3pm on Saturdays, a sign on their door says 1pm, but apparently they closed at noon. I was furious for not being told about this, because now my $400 tire was locked in their garage until Monday. On Monday, I go to their shop and speak with the owner, explaining that based on the false information one of their employees provided me (by saying it was fine to come between 12 and 2pm), I had essentially paid an $80 overnight fee for nothing. I asked to be reimbursed for this cost because it was their mistake which made the $80 pointless. He straight up told me that because I had never bought tires from him, he really didn't care that I had spent the $80 and that it was not his problem. I told him that it was his problem because his employee had misled me. I was very civil even in protesting his remarks, but it was exceedingly clear that the man couldn't care less about the frustration he had caused me. There was no apology at all, in fact he outright told me I could go to x, y, z competitors for all he cared--this in response to me saying I'd have no problem purchasing my $1600 set of tires from them each year if they would only demonstrate fair customer servicel by correcting the issue they created. It was clear to me that that they really do not care about their customers. I changed to Sullivan Tires over on Comm Ave....those guys are amazing.....very skilled and a much wider selection of tires. There is a reason that despite being "Massachusett's oldest tire dealer (1910)", Liner Tire still has only one small location. Avoid these guys at all costs and save yourself a very poor customer experience.
Update (8/12/09): Hey John, it's great that you gave TireRack the correct hours when they called, I wish you'd done me the same courtesy instead of your secretary dropping the ball and your owner's ridiculous behavior. Also, you realize that coming the first time at 2pm does not constitute "late evening" right? Save some face and acknowledge that somebody would not come and write such a poor review for you unless they really had such a negative experience... the Liner Tire experience.Comment from John P. of Liner Tire 8/7/2009
