Great place staffed by knowledgeable book lovers who can recommend any book for any age group. Small selection of toys too when you need a last minute birthday gift. I just like this place. My four year old daughter loves coming here too and we just look at the books and absorb the calmness. Ahhhhhhh....
One word of warning, if you have loud kids who love to touch everything (!) then I would not recommend this place. You have to watch your kids like hawks cuz well, they are!
I love this bookstore. It has so much personality. Linda and Dennis, the owners, so nice, and the rest of the staff is great too. They are always putting on fun events for kids, and families. Independent bookstores are the way to go. I can always find toys and books here for my niece and nephew that are fun and good for their development. When you walk in it might look a little cluttered, but that adds to the personality, and besides its a kids store. If you have a hard time finding anything ask the staff they know their story completely not like big bookstores where they check the inventory and say, well it should be right over there....they will help you find it. They will also order things for you if they do not have it. Great customer service! Sweet family owned business, that deserves to get noticed!
Best bookstore for children and young adults. Great place for gifts, buying items for a classroom, or for your own children. The staff are all older adults who are super nice and helpful. This store is a bit more expensive than most other bookstores but its worth it.
4.5 stars. DOwn 1/2 a star because sometimes I can't afford what I want!
They do have a pretty decent clearance section with amazing deals, though!
The store is pretty well laid out, but don't worry about finding anything because the employees are so helpful! They LOVE to show you books! I guess that's why they work in a book store. I have gone in looking for children's books on certain topics to use for work & they've always come up with something! They also give discounts to educators, which is nice.
They are more than a bookstore, though. They're something of a community center for information on anything related to kids, especially music & concerts. Want something fun to do with your kids? Check out Linden Tree. They even sometimes sell tickets to events!

We LOVE, LOVE ,LOVE the Linden Tree Bookstore! Run by a knowledgeable staff that is always happy to make recommendations, the Linden Tree isn't simply a store it's one of the few retail establishments that gets kids excited about reading, story telling and music. Be sure to visit on Wednesdays when they host a featured local children's musician and story teller in the courtyard.

One of the best bookstores ever, childrens or otherwise. I get lost in here all the time and it is my favorite place to find gifts for new moms or any kid (any age) on your list. It is one of the places that makes the small downtown a great place to shop.
Excellent children's bookstore, but what really sets them apart from other independent bookstores is the music section! They carry all my favorite Canadian kid-music makers. Along with Raffi, you'll find Fred Penner, Charlotte Diamond, Sharon, Lois & Bram and more. These are all artists I enjoy listening to even after the kids have fallen asleep or been dropped off.

There aren't many places like this left on the planet.
Enjoy a great day in downtown Los Altos, and enjoy browing through the enormous selection of children's and young adult books.
This is a very excellent and very popular children's book store in downtown Los Altos. I have trouble dragging the kids away every time...
