No, it's not an upscale mall.  Every mall in America doesn't have to be upscale - it's nice to find a place where the average person can afford to shop. If you want to spend $65 on a sweater, there's plenty of shops at Old Orchard that can accommodate you.  If you want to buy affordable clothes for your family, then Lincolnwood Town Center has plenty of stores.  Kohls and Carsons (and you can probably find that $65 upscale sweater here if you're just dying to have it) are the anchor department stores.  Other great places for kids clothes are Old Navy & Gap Kids, plus there's bunches of shoe stores: Payless, Finish Line, Famous Footwear.  And if you're cell phone shopping, this is the place to be - I think there's a store and/or kiosk for every single area carrier.  All in one mall, so it's easy to comparison shop.

As for mall amenities, there's a food court, with Subway, Quiznos, Auntie Anne Pretzels, Hagen Daas ice cream, an italian place (not Sbarro's but a look alike), and a few others.  Good places to grab a quick bite to eat.  I'm not really sure what other "amenities" people want - when I shop at Northbrook Court or Old Orchard, it seems there's stores & restaurants, not much else, so I don't know what people complain about.

I like this mall because the stores I'm looking for are all in one place, but it is a smaller mall, so there aren't as many different stores as you'd find in a large mall (Old Orchard/Northbrook Court/Woodfield etc.)  But it's an easy shopping destination for an area that really doesn't have a lot of retail, especially name brand stores.

I remember a time when I actually wanted to come to this place for any kind of shopping. It used to have a nice vibe and a better collection of stores.
Now it has dull set of stores and has become anything but a place good want to go. Still there are a few stores you can check out.

Not too many stores (I counted 82 in all) but the selection of stores is great selection, and many that I like:
    American Greetings
    As Seen on TV
    Claire's oh I LOVE Claire's
Hot Topic I love you HT!
Lucky Gifts oh what a cute, quaint little store this is, selling all kinds of cute objects!
    Haagen-Dazs ice cream
Olive Garden/Red Lobster in the parking lot
    Ruby Tuesday inside
Lots of beautiful vegetation throughout this place!
    Love the Food Court
The people who shop here aren't anything like those who shop at Ford City or River Oaks, or North Riverside.

For all of the above, this is a mall that I would love to visit whenever I'm in the mood to do some shopping, but only if my 10 other favorite malls don't get in front of that list. :)

its a smaller  mall than lets say woodfield or  golf mill...but about the same size as the harlem irving  mall..  its a nice mall..and ive been shopping here for years... ok ill admit they dont have that many stores and the place could sure use a few more upscale stores   but this place has that  retro 80s charm:)  which is always welcomed..

the food court  is smaller  and is more spaced out    but they need more variety., i mean they have 2 chinese places right next to one another  but ill let that slide because i love chinese food..  they have some other restaurants such as ruby tuesday  and outside of the mall theres the red lobster and the olive garden..

the shops here are hit or miss but you can always find something you'll like...you have the main store such as carsons and kohl's  which are great  plus the gamestop there is decent.. ..but,they NEED another bookstore though ..dont know why they took it out? .... the people that shop here mostly arn't  like the gangbanger wannabees that ruin everything    mostly the people just come and go and keep to themselves and dont act up..although youll get some riff raff on occasion....but they have a better security unit here  so it all works out. plus the kohls here is open to 10 pm  which is a nice touch..

there are a few things that they could change or get  rid of  such as those annoying cell phone kiosks  that are always trying to call you over to drum up business.. just ignore them and youll be fine..  second  get rid of those cash for gold kiosks that always seem to pop up out of nowhere..thats just low class and tacky...thats what pawn shops are for after all.. and there are   those eyebrow thredding stands  seriously, who wants to watch that in the middle of the mall?  no thanks.

overall lincolnwood town center is still a strep above of what the hip has turned into..and is welcomed....

This is the closest mall to my apartment and suits me just fine for most 'mall' purposes. Nothing stand out about it, but I don't have problems with it like other reviewers seem to.

Average person in this mall is most likely a convicted felon. Our car wS was broken into and the police admitted that it was an every day occurance.  I should of known better by the thugs congregating in front, inside and throughout the mall. Stores naturally cater to their clientele by offering an appealing product to their scummy customers. Most of the staff at these stores speak little English. Not a nice mall. Any normal person can find all they need at Westfield which is 15 minutes north.

I've heard alot about this mall.  To be honest, ever since the scary incident that occurred at their Espress store... where a toddler was impaled/ crushed/ killed by an ill fitted mirror...I never wanted to go.  It gave me the heebie jeebies.

We found ourselves there last week by accident.  I needed to go to an Old Navy and the Touhy address was the closest one located near Niles.  I had no idea that it was in the actual mall.  I put on my big girl pants since we were there, no point turning back.  Sometimes the only way to overcome your fears really is confronting them.

I was shocked to see how clean it was, it probably was a really cool mall in it's heyday.  The remodeling was probably done in the late 80's but compared to the HIP's new remodel...they still looked much more up to date.  The mall is bright, with lots of skylights, and white metal reminiscent of what was hot back then.  I think that there is something really off about their flooring.  They had random pieces of white tiles on gray speck...the reason that I point this out is I had to keep fighting the urge to pick up the white tiles.  They seriously looked like pieces of white paper strewn here and there.

The mall features an Old Navy, Carson Pirie Scotts, Kohls, Gap, Victoria's Secret, Express...all the small chains that you expect to find.  Despite having all the above stores, I was dummified to find that there was not one single thing that I or my little one wanted to buy.  There was something amiss at their Old Navy and Gap stores...the merchandise was so limited.  They also have a lot of independents stores that frankly I don't understand.  How do you stay in business selling junk?  I don't need a painted clown mask, an ornate fan or gilded leaves or grapes.  Did I mention the life size ceramic dogs?  Ugh.  We spent $10 altogether in this mall.  On a root beer float and an ice cream cone at Haagen Daz.

We were fortunate to visit during a school day, during school hours.  The mall was completely dead.  I could pretty much tell that it is very likely that the place is mobbed with teenagers during weekends and evenings..most of the stores are geared to that age bracket.  I think that it's just not for me.  They have a Hot Topic..yeah, but I'm not looking for a Care Bears backpack or a Slipknot/  System of The Down T shirt.  I have no idea why that store is considered alternative.  And I'm definitely not on the hunt for a pair of ultra low baggy pants at stores that have names like Man Alive, Y to the Z or some other initials..  I thought that it was amusing that a great number of their stores featured male mannequins wearing faux fur jackets.  No thanks.  I won't be back.

One extra star for the convenient location, because like Dee W, I live fairly close. It's definitely not the best mall around, but when the weather's ugly, it's the best alternative (within the few mile radius) to Westfield Old Orchard, which is an outside mall.

It's a pretty standard, low-key mall with a limited number of shops (about 80), but quite diverse. Clothings stores, hair and nail salons, toy stores, jewelry stores, sports and entertainment, etc...you'll find them here. I'm personally not too crazy about the brands, but the place is great for some last-minute shopping. They also have a small, but clean food court with flatscreen TVs everywhere. It's a comfortable spot to rest. Oh, and I'm a fan of Coffee Beanery here.

The place is typically not crowded, and I've never had any parking issues here.

I actually like this mall.  I can always find something wonderful and cheap in Carsons or Kohls and some of the other stores (Old Navy, Children's Place, Gap, etc.)  I love the fact that I can find a parking space and that it's not overcrowded.  I grew up in the neighborhood and remember when they opened the mall and Vanna White cut the ribbon.  (Uh oh, I'm showing my age.)  Seeing as Chicago weather can get yucky, Old Orchard is usually not fun unless you go on a nice day.  You can easily go get something to eat and sit down without waiting.  (Gotta love that!)

As far as the ghetto, gangbanger comments........  Obviously the person who wrote that has never been to the ghetto or saw a real gangbanger.  This mall, just like all malls, has teenagers walking around.  But I've never seen any gangbangers there.  And I've been going there since it opened.

This mall  is alright. It has some good stuff in it, but I'd definitely suggest to avoid the food court like the plague. Seriously, the food court is about as clean as a chicago prostitute, and that's on good day. I've never experienced the prostitutes, but I have experienced the food, and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone.

Meanwhile, restaurants like fridays (or was it ruby tuesdays?) are good, and there are a *million* cellphone stores inside for all brands. We're seriously talking 12-15 cellphone stores in a small plaza. Yet what's the irony? You won't have great reception inside the mall.

Also, there's always some psychotic kitschy stuff being sold in the middle of the mall, people seem to rent tables and sell everything from wooden jesus carvings to faux "tribal indian" stuff to jewelry. It's like if etsy had a "made in china" version.

Remember when you were in junior high and the coolest thing to do was hang out at the mall? This was my mall. One of my friends' parents would drop off a vanload of us, and we would hang out all day -- eating those huge jawbreakers at Mr. Bulky, listening to music at Sam Goody, getting our nails done by the food court, trying on heels we could barely walk in at Contempo Casuals, trying on crazy little outfits at Rave, and flirting with boys, of course.

Nowadays, I feel like I've outgrown this mall. There's still a Carson Pirie Scott and a Kohl's if I need anything from a department store, but their boutique stores are definitely geared towards the high school and younger crowd. Rave, Gadzooks, Deb, PacSun, Claire's, etc.. I love Express, but the store they have here has a terrible selection. The only thing I honestly enjoy at this mall now are Waldenbooks and the food court. There used to be birds that were nesting high up in the rafters in the food court that were fun to watch.

Lincolnwood Town Center gets two stars for their store selection, clientele, and ample parking (but watch out come the holidays), and an extra star for the memories.

This mall is within walking distance of my house, and since I don't have a car, I often end up there.  For me, there is only a small selection of stores worth going to at all.  I'm usually impressed by Kohl's (I think it beats out similar department stores by a fair mile), Carson's and Old Navy are decent, and it's always fun to go smell stuff at Bath and Body Works.  I also look forward to the opening of Famous Footwear next month.

Other stores that might be of interest to adult shoppers are The Gap, New York and Company, and Victoria's Secret; that's pretty much it.  There are some unexciting accessory shops, a typical food court, and a bunch of chains aimed at the cheap, trendy teenage demographic.  I often feel as though I'm walking past the same shop over and over again--if you like skimpy tube tops made out of cheap, satiny material, you're set, because this place seems to be full of them.

Still, it's not a complete waste.  The mall doesn't feel dirty or run down, and there are at least some stores that I like having nearby.  I also disagree with the "ghetto" reputation it has in some circles; while it does sometimes get mobbed by teenagers from the city, they're mostly the "ghetto wannabe" types.  I doubt the large majority of them are really "ghetto."  I see a lot of families there, too.  The "ghetto" thing is an exaggeration.

I actually think, with the addition of a few more interesting stores, this could be an above average mall.  But it's not quite there yet.

I go here occasionally when my suburban upbringing demands it. First thing I notice every time - All the guys working at the T-Mobile kiosks look like they want to kill themselves. And all the people working in the food court look like they want to kill you.

    Typical mall.

The bright spot - this one clerk at the Gap was helpful a little while ago. He showed me how to match the outfit I was buying and recommended a nifty Western-looking belt.

Then, like his cohorts elsewhere in the mall, he started looking at me like he wanted to kill someone.

Entering this shopping center is like stepping into the steaming maw of hell.  There are only a few decent chain stores, and those are too small to carry a decent selection.  The food court is also pretty sad - the healthiest thing to eat is Subway, and that's really saying something.  The only upside, as I learned watching a girl getting shaken down for shoplifting, is that in the Lincolnwood Town Center, they only give tickets for shoplifting - no jail time.  I guess that's worth one star.

This mall is all sorts of crappy.

A lot of the stores here offer nothing but cheap products. Maybe if you are 14 and on a limited, allowance-based budget, that works... but I find it odd for stores to depend on the bank accounts of high school freshman. Although it may explain why there is complete turn-over in store fronts every year. Even the chain stores (old navy, gap, etc...) that are here, are the worst anywhere in the city (from what I've seen).

What I hate most about this mall is the attitude of almost every person that works there... in EVERY store. If you want my feelings on the Kohl's here, you can refer to my review of them awhile back. But even in the Carson's, most of the employees just have bad attitudes and don't practice professionalism in the slightest.

In addition, I have seen major fist fights/screaming matches in this mall on more than one occasion. I'm not one to tell anyone how to act, but it would be nice if they could leave all that trashy non-sense at home.

I was completely unimpressed with this mall.
It has your standard, cheesy mall stores. Draws may include Kohl's, The Gap, Old Navy and Express (men and women), though all mentioned have horrible selections/inventory.  It's like this is the land of forgotten stores... the inventory trucks must pass on by...

The crowd here is a little....rough.  I hate to agree, but the reviewers who described them as 'gangbangers' were correct.  Yikes. I'd rather shop online- no reason to stop here.

This is the closest mall to me so I gotta love it. They have a pretty good selection of stores...just wish they had a Sephora, Starbucks, Proactiv kiosk and a few more clothing stores that weren't geared towards juniors.

They do have a New York and Company tho which I love and an Old Navy, Kohls, Carsons, Limited, Gap, Pac Sun, Victoria Secrets Walden's books, a couple of shoe stores, Claire's, a couple of jewelry stores, food court, Verizon store and a T-Mobile kiosk and quite a few other stores.

    All in all pretty decent.

This place is amazing! I went in for an eye appointment at the Lenscrafters (which was very good) and had some time to kill before meeting up with someone elsewhere so I wandered around for a little while.

Just check out this list of shops:
    -Rave
    -Deb
    -5-7-9

Do I even need to go on? I didn't know that these places even existed anymore much less resided in the same suburban mall! If this was 1998, I would probably have a job here just for the discount.

They even have one of those photo places where you can get those dreamy shots with timeless backgrounds like Chinese characters, clouds, and stenciled roses. There's also a cart on the first floor where you can stock up on all the freestyle, juke, hip hop, and house mixes you need for your next house party and right around the corner - Haagen Dazs. Let's just say I'm filling out applications as I write this.

Bummer about the kid dying at Express.

I will agree that the mall has declined considerably over the last 10 years - but no more so than the HIP, or the Brickyard, or, well, any mall except for the Century (that got eaten by Bally's) or Old Orchard, which has risen from Montgomery Wards Dirt-Mall status to some sort of glistening shopping jewel.

There is a lot more theft, a relative of mine worked at the Children's Place store there where he described women walking in and just grabbing stuff off the shelves and screaming at the employees "What are you gonna do about it?" kind of rhetoric, with the intention of 'returning' the items sometimes at that very store later in the day.  If I am making 7 bucks an hour, you're right, I'm not going to fight you for some baby jeans.

I think the quality of the stores suffers for this - I was at the "Temptations" store where an employee was loudly talking about "what does that bitch want" to the store manager, while behind the counter in front of other customers.  A few minutes later he asked if he could help me and I was like "um, no thanks - but I hope she wasn't talking about anyone in the store!"

THAT SAID, the Carson's is dependable, parking is usually easy, and if you know what you want, you can get it.

This mall is... well, it kinda sucks.
    Everyone's, well, kinda ghetto.
    People are surly.
And the choices aren't that great.

I mean, if you need a Pac Sun, or VS or Kohl's, or Old Navy, maybe a quick bite, or the Hot Topic, but really?  A bunch of over-priced shoe stores, and your typical hallmark, yadda blah that's in every mall.

It comes off tougher than it is, but staff is sorta unfriendly most of the time, like they all hate their jobs.

If you want to make a day out of shopping, go the distance to somewhere else.  But don't base it all on my account.  Check their website for the store listing and then decide.

It's so sad to come here now and remember how good this mall used to actually be when I was little.

I come here because it is the closest mall to my place. If i need something new to wear quick and last minute, I usually find something at the Express.

BEWARE OF THE BATHROOMS... I don't know about the mens room, but the ladies room is pure stink. I'd rather hold in my pee for 3 hours than go in there....and remember... if their bathrooms aren't clean, do you really think the kitchens in the food court are?

Most of the stores here are for clothes with low price points. If you're looking for something more luxurious, then try Old Orchard or Northbrook.

This mall as improved somewhat. The only reasons I go here are the Kohl's (which is the most under appreciated department store) and the Ruby Tuesday's salad bar. Not the best mall for your kids because there is no play area. However, it is big enough and empty enough for them to run around AND the Ruby Tuesday's has a decent kids menu. The unfortunate thing about this place are the "hip-hop" wannabe teens that roam the joint and the so-so selection of toys. I would rather drive a little bit further north to Northbrook Court or Old Orchard (when the weather is nice).

so the only reason why i went to this mall was because i was visitin chicago, but was staying at a friends house in skokie.  my boyfriend's  16 year old cousin asked us where we wanted to go..and me not being very familiar w/ the area i didn't really know where to go that was closeby.  He asked if we wanted to go to the mall..so we said sure..(little did we know we were going to a super ghetto mall, i really don't think it should be even considered a mall lol).

there are a limited amount of stores and the majority of them are mom & pop type of places..the only big name stores to choose from are old navy, express, and GAP...

we didn't go shopping here, but we did grab some pretzels from auntie anne's. we basically went here b/c it was freezing outside, didn't know where to go, & we had a 16 yr old boy who barely got his liscense takin us out. what's funny was when his older sisters found out what mall he took us to they were like.."WHY WOULD YOU TAKE THEM TO THAT MALL?!" (it's ok though..it was cute that he tried! lol)

The location is great, but I've got an idea to help drastically improve the somewhat out-dated shopping mall. My idea would be to completely redevelop Lincolnwood as an open-air "lifestyle" center (which is really how a "Town Center" should be), rivaling Glenview's "The Glen Town Center" ( http://www.theglentown... ), Mt. Prospect's "Randhurst Village" ( http://www.randhurstma... ), Schaumburg's "The Streets of Woodfield" ( http://www.thestreetso... ), etc. Many of the mall's existing tenants could remain, but be housed in new & improved sites. This idea could really bust a good move for the economy, especially considering that Lincolnwood is an established mall & is still surviving, despite being out-dated.

Everybody who I've talked to regarding this totally agrees with me. But the problem is simply that the general public doesn't bother to express their thoughts, ideas & opinions to the "appropriate" people--in this case, it would be the Simon Property Group, Inc. ( http://www.simon.com )--& just leave it inside of them, thinking that they are 1 one person & their voice won't make any difference. With an attitude like that, nothing is ever going to change. The people are wrong in a big way, because if only everybody spoke up, the world would be an entirely different place...& Lincolnwood probably would have gone "lifestyle" by now. And I am proud to say that I voiced my opinion to the appropriate people long before I wrote this.

I have to agree with JQ, this mall isn't ghetto at all. It's clean, well lit and not full of thugs. There aren't too many stores here - Woodfield it is not - but it has the usual suspects. I go here when I need to get a few things from differant stores and actually appreciate that it isn't overly crowded. Carson's and Kohls are the anchor stores and I've found many a deal at both. They also have Express, Hot Topic, Payless and Lids etc etc. Parking is not an issue either which is nice. It's a smaller mall than some of the surburban ones but if you don't feel like driving out to the burbs this is a good compromise.

I guess that this is the closest mall to me now.  It's decent - it's only 2.5 miles from me and it's pretty small.  I came here and was done within an hour.  Their food court is decent and Kohl's was pretty nice.  I mostly come here because it's now the closest New York and Company to me and I love their work clothes!

Convenient location, ample parking, decent crowd. Its not very big, but has the usual stores- Express, Payless, Old Navy, Children's Place. Good if the weather is bad, its an indoor mall.

I go here primarily to use the Lenscrafters', get a  sugar-free ice cream at Hagen Dazs or occasionally browse Carson's.  I don't care for the mall in general.  It is too small; the other anchor, Kohl's, is not my favorite; the parking lot is clumsily arranged; apparel stores seem focused on teenagers; and worst it appear to attract gangbangers and other undesireables.   It does not seem to have a real target market -- it's not consciously downscale like Harlem Irving or upscale like Old Orchard.  I don't think the owners know much about the neighborhood or a good store mix.

I work near this mall so I'm here way more than I want to be.  It's just not good.  Unfortunately, where I work, it's the only shopping near by and occasionally I have to run errands on my lunch.  I would recommend that you not go here unless you have to.  The food court is disappointing, even for a mall food court.

This mall's biggest features Kohl's and Old Navy; the place itself is not that much of an interesting mall; quite boring, actually.  The only upside to this place is the nice gentleman who works at Auntie Anne's who's generous with the pretzel stamps.

When I feel the need to visit a shopping  mall similar to the ones I grew up around, I tend to go to Lincolnwood because it's the closest.  Visited again recently last week and decided that I won't be returning anytime in the near future.  The customer service I received at most stores was poor.  The selection of stores is pretty much a hit or miss, they have a few of the typical chains (i.e. Express, Victoria's Secret, Gap, NY&Co., Wet Seal, Carson's, Kohl's, etc.) but these locations don't carry everything.  Overall, an ok place but sometimes the extra drive to Old Orchard is definitely worth it.

Lincolnwood isn't my first choice to go shopping by far.  The only time I really go here is if I want to let some traffic die down on the Edens or I want to go to Carson's and Kohl's on the same night.  If you are used to shopping at Woodfield or Old Orchard, this mall is definitely ghetto and not in the fabulous way.

This mall isn't as hype as it used to be years and years ago.  I only visit this mall now for Victoria's Secret, that one shoe store upstairs and for the little gift shop across from that cheezy photo studio.... oh and occasionally Old Navy.  I'm much more of a Magnificent Mile shopper now.

Did I miss the memo that says I should wear Kevlar to this mall? The good news is, if you are not into wearing gang colors, or big baggy pants that hang past your underwear you will be in luck, because the good stuff is almost always on-sale!  Keep driving to Old Orchard!!
