6 reviews for Lincolnshire Gourmet
Yesterday, I met a friend for lunch at the Linconshire Gourmet. She suggested the place, and since I don't know of many places in downtown Highland Park except for Once Upon a Bagel and Walker Brother's, and neither of those really fit the mood that we were going for, I decided I should try something new.
I'm glad I did. The deck seemed to be somewhat air conditioned, and on a hot day it was gladly appreciated. We sat under a large awning and had turkey sandwiches in the shade.
The only thing I'm a bit iffy about is the fact that they don't have high chairs, and all of the indoor tables are pub-height. But even though the layout and overall atmosphere isn't very kid-friendly, most of the waitresses came to ooh and aah over my sweet little girl.
So, I would go back, but probably on a day when I had a sitter.
Very nice addition to the already cute downtown Highland Park area!
I came to a wedding shower at Lincolnshire Gourmet, and honestly, I was impressed at how well our party was handled. I can imagine it's not easy to cater to a party of 45 women, mostly from the North Shore, who are picky, demanding, and all-around snobby, but Lincolnshire Gourmet did us proud! We had a small army of servers taking drink orders non-stop and bringing out all of the meals simultaneously, all while remaining discreet and out of the way.
While I can't comment too much on the menu, I can say that the meal that was selected for us by our hosts (grilled chicken, arugula, brie and apple wraps, spicy coleslaw and a fruit skewer) was simple, well presented and flavorful. The drinks of choice were mainly fruit mimosas. I sampled both the strawberry and mango mimosas and they were delicious. Our desserts were molten chocolate cake and various flavors of ice cream (vanilla bean, chocolate chip, Heath bar) served family style. Mmmm....
The indoor space is teeny-tiny, so take advantage of the warm weather and enjoy their outdoor seating! We had the entire covered patio, but there was also a lot of seating out front. You can sit, eat, chill and watch the Central Ave traffic go by. Places like this make me think it might be okay to live in the suburbs. Well, maybe one day!

When I make my parents' dreams come true, cash in my chips and settle down with the nice Jewish neurologist to raise children and complain about property taxes, Highland Park is going to be great. *However*, for the time being, the place seems to be a bit of a ghost town after 10 pm. Which is when life begins!
Like the Room of Requirement in Harry Potter, I'm convinced that the Lincolnshire Gourmet only appeared when we really, really needed it. It was the *perfect* place to go for the after-musical dessert/drinks we are so good at enjoying, and thank god, cuz there were literally no other options.
The banana chocolate cake was as good as it gets, the stuffed strawberries were served on fancy bendy spoons and the cheese plate was adorned with almonds and apricots galore. I'm pretty sure I'll be back again soon (or 10 years from now, on some sort of long-awaited date night with the Stein of my dreams).

I have been to this place twice and let me tell you why it's my new favorite place....the food is outstanding. I went there for lunch and dinner and both times the food was delicious. The St. Andre burger and the special of chicken with fettucicne are the best. They make their own lemonade, too--mango, pineapple, or strawberry. Very tasty and refreshing. The outdoor patio is cute and relaxing. On Wednesday nights they have live music.
The service can be a little slow whether you choose to go at lunch or at dinner. But if you're sitting on the outside patio enjoying the company of whomever you are with....who cares, right?
A couple of girlfriends and I went to dinner here because my store is right down the street and this has just been the go to place around highland park. I really enjoyed their asparagus apple proscuitto appetizer. And we each had some cocktails before dinner at their bar and enjoyed them as well . Our entrees were delicious and also going there for lunch i would recommend the cajun chicken wrap its delish!~
After eating dinner here based on fellow yelpers, I truly believed the other reviews came from friends or relatives of the owners! The food was NOT at all interesting and the service was horrible. The chairs were uncomfortable and it just felt cold inside. My husband ordered chicken caesar salad and besides the chicken being cold and dry, it was truly boring for a place that calls themselves "gourmet". EVERYONE working acted as if they were too good to clear plates. This is not how a successful restaurant would be ran. The owner and perhaps his wife both stopped by our table after we were done and neither cleared our dishes. They didn't get cleared until we ASKED for a dessert menu. We won't waste our time or our money on this place again.
