One Liner: It's a tunnel
Food: (scale of 0-4) 1
Bring some food for the picnic. You can be in the tunnel for awhile. The traffic during the peak hours is just awful. I recommend non-smelly dry food. Drink at your own risk. You may need mobile urinating devices or diapers.
Extras: (Scale of 0-1) 0.2
Service 0.2: It gets you from one side to the other
Decor 0.1: It's ok. It can definitely be better.
Speed 0: Shlow!
Dessert 0: um.....no
Prices 0: It's expensive inbound to Manhattan. It's free going back out.
My score for this experience is 1.2 stars.
Since it did get me across the river, I'm going to list it as 2 stars.

Driving into Manhattan is just a bad idea. Who needs a car there anyway? It has to be the most pedestrian friendly city in the US. Well, we drove to NYC because it's cheaper than the train and nicer than the bus. We got rid of it as soon as we got to a parking garage and kept it there all weekend.
This tunnel can really suck, especially when driving into the city during a busy time (which is almost ALL the time.) We got to the city around 11PM on Friday night so it wasn't so bad. We didn't have to sit in line for the tunnel forever like we did when we came last year during saturday afternoon.
I gave the tunnel 3 stars because I think it's really pretty. The stone entrance is really grand and kind of art deco. The skyline view from the entry ramp is really amazing and gives you something to look at while you wait.
Not sure if this tunnel is free to exit NYC, but I know the Holland Tunnel is, on Sundays. This one cost a few bucks to enter Manhattan through.
Well, the other tunnel from NJ into NYC is slightly better.
Three two-lane tunnels, it's a continuation of 495.
The helix brings you to the tunnel from NJ and on the NY side, there are multiple points of entrance all West of 8th/9th Av. between 31st and 42nd. Some paths are less traveled than others.
Efficient, typically, although personally I'm not sure why they don't open up four instead of three lanes at rush hour for one direction.
Slightly more cars input into this area but feels faster than the Holland at times. There's a bus-only lane during the peak times.
I hate you, tunnel. You make me late for work allllllll the freakin time! Wassup with that, anyway? It's really claustrophobic in there when you're stuck in traffic too...Rev is totally right about water bottles for emergencies...except I take the stupid bus to stupid port authority. It might be a little too early in the morning (or too close to my commute) for me to be writing this.
At least I got to work on time today. You get an extra star, Mr. Tunnel, just for that/

Has anybody ever noticed that the middle tunnel has been closed since right around 9/11??? I have a lil theory about this - but I digress.
Lincoln Tunnel should be renamed Lincoln Parking Lot. Take the Holland if you ever wanna get through.
That being said - 2 stars because it gets me into NY, all be it 6 hours after I get off the turnpike.

I'm not a big fan of tunnels to begin with but the Lincoln tunnel gets packed alot. Everytime I go through there, I feel like the walls are closing in. It's poorly ventilated and is swamped with angry vehicles. Last time I took a cab to Newark it went suprisingly swimmingly, but I know it's not the case during rush hour and even when its not rush hour.
