7 reviews for Lincoln Park
Met up with friends and played some games in Lincoln Park.
Frisbee, catch, corn hole and a little bocce ball.
Cooked up some grub on a portable grill.
Good times had by all, dogs too.
A tree ate my kite.
Minus one star.
Dang tree.

A good place to picnic, sunbathe, walk dogs, or go jogging in (.4 miles around the outside, apparently), not so good for playing frisbee, due to the trees and lack of a large grassy field due to the trees placed everywhere.
I love this park because of the dog watching. It's a great place to sit and have a picnic, despite the fact that the dogs will try to snatch your food. I can't wait to own a dog so I can take it on walks here.
The reason I hesitate on giving this (almost) perfect park 5 stars is its problematic and racist Emancipation Monument. Has anyone seen that? It's a dog park, and the figure of the black slave is crouched and chained like a dog. Anyone want to join me in reclaiming this space? Radical art project? Let's Wodiczko the shit out of it.

This is a pretty good park to go running in (dirt paths rather than concrete), and seems somewhat safer than other parts of DC, thanks to all the dog walkers and people playing with their dogs. Just watch out for the occasional poo. Also, it's very green with foliage, and Spring brings many yard sales nearby.
I'm not sure what Alexis G. meant about "the patch between the hood and the good," but maybe the spreading gentrification of Capitol Hill is making that comment dated.

A picturesque and popular spot for young Moms (who like the two enclosed playgrounds), sunbathers (who like the wide lawns at either end) and dog owners (ditto). This park, 10 blocks east of the Capitol on, well, East Capitol, boasts statues of the Great Emancipator and Mary Bethune McLeod at opposite ends.
Lots of benches and a worn in running loop for those looking to escape the pavement.
Of note: the water fountains dont work.

Yes, this is a big dog-hangout, but I know Lincoln Park as one of the best grounds in DC for playing football-catch. Usually there are some British people playing soccer here on Sunday afternoon, but if you wait them out, you can get a nice stretch of open field for running around.
About those dogs: yes, it is fun to have a dog, but some of these dog-owners need to keep a tighter leash on Rover. They are always tearing through the field and sniffing you all over the place. Fun to watch at first, but i'm afraid this place is overrun with the dogs.
Beware of the young local boys wanting to play catch. They almost stole my football last week. "Let me catch!" one of them said. He dropped it, but then he picked it up. Then he started running east as fast as he could. My friend gave chase, and luckily, one of the hoodlum's older friends got the ball and gave it back.
Anyone who lives around Eastern Market should make this place a Sunday afternoon pass-time. Just watch out for the dogs.
The Good: Nice big rectangular green space, big overall area and nice statues, too.
The Bad: The dogs have run amuck, and someone tried to steal my football. Four stars, nonetheless.

Whenever my fiance and I go to a Nats game, we have a tradition of walking from the stadium to the Union Station metro, which started as a way to avoid the crowds in the Stadium-Armory metro and blossomed into a wonderful thing we now always do. Aww. Now that I've made you puke, I'll talk about Lincoln Park. It's what we refer to as "The patch between the hood and the good." One end of it is not too far from some sketchy scenes, and the other is a Capitol Hill staff wonderland of sorts. Every time we walk through here, I wish so bad that we had a doggie. There are always families here with their kids and their dogs and it seems like a great place to live -- well, on the good side, not the hood side. It's mainly concrete, but there is some grass too -- along with some crazy statues. The lights are always shining on this square and surprisingly, the number of bums here isn't outrageous. This would be a good place to throw a Frisbee around with your doggie.
