If you're not into the summertime, thumpin'-car-stereo Alki scene, Lincoln Park is a fabulous place for a waterfront stroll. You can watch the Vashon ferry, see the occasional sea lion or seal, people watch, bask and enjoy the view on one of many benches.

We've been walking this park with our dogs regularly since we moved to West Seattle two years ago, with nary a hint of trouble -- I'm really unsure where another reviewer heard that this park was unsafe; not to my knowledge. (I even do a bit of writing for West Seattle Blog and have not heard this -- could he be confusing it with the incidents on Alki Beach over the summer?)

But do keep your dog on a leash -- unless of course you enjoy me shaming you, because that's how I do.

A beautiful, seemingly endless park surrounded by nature. Right along the waterfront, with awesome views of Seattle, it's the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon.

There are lots of trails and pinic benches for BBQ's. If you want to walk on the beach, it's more rocks than sand, so you might want to wear some tennis shoes instead of flip flops. Knowing myself, I usually end up wearing flip flops anyways.

What an enormous park!  It's hard to know what to do there first.  We've wandered by this park on several occasions on the way to the ferry.  It always seemed like a nice place to stop.

We didn't quite know what to do, so we just started walking down one of the many trails and ended up at a great wooded playground.  Filled with kids and it even had a nice zip line for the older kids.  Cool.

We followed the path down to the water and got to take in the fabulous view and finally stood on the beach that we always saw from the ferry.  The paved path seemed like a great place to bike or blade but was so crowded I doubt that would ever be a possibility.

My biggest problem with this park was the beach actually.  While it was a breath-taking view and had great pavilions, the beach was treacherous to walk on.   Slippery rocks with barnacles everywhere.  So don't expect a lovely walk on the beach.  And the cleared off area is apparently private.  Sigh.

I'm sure I'll be back at some point to explore the trails.

This park is glorious!  I'd been down here in high school for cross-country meets, but somehow it's existence seemed to have slipped my mind.

I met a friend at Lincoln Park for some running in the sun along the Seattle waterfront.  The view is spectacular, all the perks of walking along Alki Beach without the hoards of people blocking the path.  The air is salty-sweet, and there's a pleasant breeze as you trek the path, paralleling Puget Sound.  This park stretches to the banks of the Vashon Ferry, and the bike/walking path eventually meets up with Alki Beach proper.

Up above there are many, many trails through the woods, and dogs are welcome.  It was the best place for a cardio workout, we ran the trails, beach path, AND did stairs.  That combination definitely got our blood pumping as we exercised in the sun.  I'd love to come back here for more of a leisurely stroll.  Lincoln Park is ideal for a warm, sunny Seattle day.

When I lived in West Seattle I read and heard about several incidents of gang violence in Lincoln Park, including a shooting. It seems that this is a very real and growing problem in the area. Now that I don't live on the West Side I choose to go to other parks when I'm in the Seattle and this is largely due to safety concerns with Lincoln Park. That said, the times my family spent at Lincoln Park were enjoyable. We loved walking down the steps to the shore, heading South, past Colman Pool and back up to the central playground, near the Little League Field. The upper edge of the park trail has beautiful lookouts of the Sound. It's a shame such a nice park has become a frequented destination of a disturbing set of individuals.

I decided to explore West Seattle a little bit and go for a walk here at this park.  There is a decent size parking lot at the park but I assume it becomes crowded on the weekends and days with warm weather.

There are different paths around the park.   I took a path down to the beach.  I stayed on the path since dogs are not allowed on the beach in Seattle (big boo!!)! The view of the sound was breathtaking!!  My dog and I took a stroll along the path by the beach.

The walk back up was a little bit of a work out.  Some parts of the trails can be muddy so wear good shoes that you don't mind getting it dirty.

I would come back if I was in the area.  I really would like to see the sunset someday.

Garbage cans were found by the parking lot and few by the beach.  I don't wanna carry a poop bag with me everywhere ;-)

A freaking gem of a park if there ever was one. I took my special charge Sofa for a sunset walk here. We were treated to a magnificent time- complete with scenic vistas, roomy trails, and the prettiest stretch of coast I've seen in city.

That night, as the crimson sun slipped behind the Olympics, casting it's pink glow across the horizon and reflecting opalescence on the water I decided to try and convince my husband to move to West Seattle, just to be closer to this place.

Plus, those stairs back up from the beach are a f**king ass kicker.

Summer at Lincoln Park is a truly remarkable experience. There are barbecues in the designated areas, kite-flyers and beachcombers along the beach, swimmers at the pool, picnics at the tables, runners on the trails, and everyone is having a great time. The feeling of general goodwill and happiness (or the unmarked police cruiser out front) must keep the troublemakers at bay, because there's nothing but smiles throughout the park.

I really really love Lincoln Park....and I havent even been to Coleman Pool yet!  Can you imagine how I will feel when I have?!  Probably I will wish that I could live there is what will happen...BBQing every night in our own little BBQ hut, sleeping under that stars with the water rushing over the rocks, waking up and swimming in heated salt water pool!!!!! .....eating Marion berries.....walking my dog....possibly seeing some sea lions?!
What?!  No camping?!

Lincoln Park is a Great park with beautiful walks and views of the sound. Lots of space to walk, and explore. Plenty of courts, playgrounds, sports fields, and a swimming pool.

I could spend hours walking around here through the maze of trails, and non-official trails.

I have been going to this park since I was in a stroller. Lots of things to do here. My favorite thing to do when I go is wonder around in the unmarked trails. Or if I am feeling ambitious its fun to start at the main part of the park ("up top" if you will), and take the trail down to the water.

There are tennis courts, a baseball field, swings, a play area for kids, picnic shelters, a wading pool, and Coleman pool (saltwater pool).

Lots of fun for the whole family, including the furry friends!

p.s. But if you bring your doggies please obey the leash laws and scoop your poop - it just makes the park more enjoyable for everyone. Thanks!!!!!!

Though it was quite the hike from the parking lot to the picnic areas, it's more than worth it. The paved walk way by the water makes for easy foot and bike traffic. The smell of beach and BBQ is more than a happy pair, but the park does a great job in providing both beach and woods scenes for its visitors. The open fields are very much hidden through the park and find them is always crowning discovery, especially when lugging around a cooler full of hot dogs and Coronas. I visited on an unseasonably warm day, perhaps it was for that reason that the park was filled with people.

There were a few times where the neighboring BBQers would step into our grounds, but the joys of being outdoors are suppose to be shared in the first place.

Message to those neighbors, drunken 30 year olds ex-fraternity should a) stop pretending to know how to throw a football b) quoting Old School is not funny anymore c) use sunscreen, please.

I love Lincoln park.  Some seculed woods where I have never failed to see Varied Thursh.  There is another area that is always teaming with harder to find warblers, owls, Band-tailed Pidgeons, Tits, Nuthatchs, sparrows you name it.  Water viewing is a bit tricky involving a trek down to the beech.  You can also scope from above.  Be sure to scope the ferry terminal for Scoters etc.

For you non-birders the rest of the reviews here sum the park up very well.  It is a great jewel in Seattle area.

I love Lincoln Park!  It has parking!  It has trails!  It has ball fields!  It has tennis courts!  It has children play areas!  It has a heated outdoor, salt water pool!  It has picnic areas!  It has amazing views of the sound!  It has just about anything you could want in a park!

I love coming here and walking through the trees when it's sprinkling out, everything is so fresh and clean and smells like nature.  I love coming here on a sunny day and walking through the shade of the trees to cool off.  I love coming here in the fall after the leaves change the colors are amazing.  I love coming here to walk along the water and enjoy the wonderfulness that is Lincoln Park.  I love coming here to watch Shakespeare in the Park, but only the afternoon show not the evening one or else I get eaten alive by the bugs.  I love coming to watch friends play baseball/softball at the fields!  I love coming here for picnics with friends and enjoying the good times that are had.  There are so many reasons to love Lincoln Park but these are some of mine what are yours?

A beautiful park located on the water in West Seattle. A beautiful view of the water and the ferry in transit. Driftwood is scattered by the water which doubles as benches. There are easy ways to get down to the water, including a paved trail for handicapped access and dirt trails that lead you down. I think it is really nice to walk through the trees and grass on the trails that lead you to the water front.

The best park in town. It has it all.

I'm usually generous with giving out the stars, but in this instance, the absolutely disgusting bathrooms down by the water take one away. They could however be the grossest bathrooms in town.

A daily retreat after work during the spring and summer months and at least once a week during the colder months.

Miles of trails to wander on, minor hiking (for us not so in shape folks), beach walks, a swimming pool down on the lower north side, a wading pool in the upper north side, coupled with jungle gyms, swings, baseball AND tennis courts, not to mention the extremely friendly squirrels who are all too happy to chase you down for that little bag of cheez-its.. be warned - I had one climbing up my leg to get at some stinkin chow mein - I think I'm traumatized for life now.

You can reserve the shelters and numbered tables for picnics - any unnumbered table is first come first served.

This is one of the few Seattle parks that has plenty of parking!!!  Combine the parking lot with the additional street parking and you have a winner!  Even during the warm summer months here in the Pacific Northwest there is plenty of room for everyone.  I find something new to enjoy each and every time we come to this park.

From beach walks to a paved walk loop around the park this is one of the fine crown jewels in West Seattle.  The ballfields are clean and well kept and the playground equipment, while it's nothing too fancy, serves the kiddos well.

The best kept secret is being able to rent the covered picnic areas from the Park's Department.  For a nominal fee you can reserve the area and host your family gatherings here!

Gather up the kids, pack a lunch and get out and enjoy the rays!

As an ex-competitive swimmer, I remember coming here for swim meets (at Colman pool) when i was younger. Salt water is supposed to make you swim faster. As an adult I can appreciate the beautiful surroundings. This is a 50m pool (it is twice as big as normal sized pools) so even though it is popular there is enough room for everyone. If you come during lap swim you have to be prepared for the longer laps if your endurance isn't quite that great.

As far as the park, it is simply beautiful.  You can overlook the entire sound and choose to be in solitude or around others as the park is very big. Additionally, the park really isn't that far from the city. There is a kiddie pool, the big pool, beach, a paved area for bikers/rollerbladers/runners, picnic areas with benches, tons of trails, lookouts, a baseball diamond and who knows whatelse!

Domesticated squirrels that eat from your hand.
Random exercise equipment along the walking trails.
A paved path to run along the sound and a dirt path along the top of the ridge.
Lots of smaller paths, covered in vegetation to explore.
Watch kids play ball, or just enjoy all the dogs running around happy to make a new friend.
I really miss living two blocks away from this park.

This park could use some more improvements. I know it has a dog trail a baseball diamond, tennis courts, two pools and some seriously  unkempt horse shoe..rings? But with the shoreline getting a slow face lift- the interior is still not clearly marked, at all. I love walking through here but when you get distracted talking to somebody- it's easy to get lost.

What does Lincoln Park NOT have?  It's one of the best parks in Seattle.  I bring the kids for swimming in the summer, picnics, playing, softball, playing on the playground equipment, beach walks...etc.  It's the best!

Lincoln Park has 2 playground areas.  The south playground is nice and has a great swing for the kids to swing down a hill.  I get a little nervous at the south playground with the little kids because the playground equipment is a little higher off the ground.  The north playground is better for the smaller kids because the playground equipment is a little lower to the ground and you don't have to worry about your kids falling.

This park really has it all... trails, softball fields, play areas, picnic sites, tennis courts, paved jogging/biking path with a TDF view, even a heated saltwater pool (!)... what it doesn't have is an off-leash area for dogs, which I would really love to see.  Ollie loves going on walks at Lincoln Park but she would love it even more if she could romp around (legally) unleashed.

Huge park with lots to do and lots of places to lose yourself. Miles of trails, stunning water views, beach walks including a paved walk, and of course, Colman Pool, which is I think the only heated saltwater pool in Seattle. Only open in the summer. My mother used to swim in this pool when she was a little girl and a couple generations later it's still popular. Parking can fill up on a sunny summer weekend, but go early and spend the day.

This is a gorgeous park in West Seattle. I like taking out-of-town guests here when we want to wind down. It's got everything you'd want to see on a walk, some groomed areas, some wild, open spaces for the dogs to run (not off-leash, though, bummer), and a bluff overlooking Puget Sound with the Olympics in the distance. Lots of different paths to wander, including one that skirts the bluff, and another on the water - take one of the steep paths that lead down to the water for some scenic adventure. Every once in awhile you catch sight of eagles that are nesting there. It feels far from the city sometimes.

This is an excellent park to hang out and relax in. The beach is really long and spacious. It is a rocky beach which usually provides a great opportunity to find sea critters under rocks. The water here is usually really clear as well providing a surface peek into the water. There are many trails that go all over the park as well and are just as fun to wander through.

Lincoln Park is a great place to wander around and just enjoy the W Seattle vibe.  Keep in mind they've tried to secede several times.  Colman pool is one of the only saltwater pools your going to find anywhere much less in the metro area (at least as far as I know).

Get here on an early morning for parking. There are picnic stations for families to rent out. There is a great stretching path that goes along the beach.  A great place to pick a spot and fish or fly a kite. Right by the ferry, you can hop to Vashon. It is beautiful.
