I wanna give this place 3 stars . . . but I prayed to the Lord and he told me to be a truthful doggie. So I gotta be honest and give this place the 4 stars its earned on both of the occasions my honey girl and I have visited.

Each time we only had an hour before a DCPA show, and both times they cruised right through, giving praise-worthy and fast service, and excellent food and drink.

Having read a bunch of the other reviews that are lower than this one, I don't know what to say. I'm usually a harder grader on restaurants than many in Yelp, but this place has rocked each time we were there. I can only suggest that you give it a try. (And maybe say a little prayer beforehand:-).

"Praise the Lord. Feed me gooood" might help.

Appalled by the service we received here - appalled.  It was Christmas Eve and we had reservations for 4 prior to the matinee show. The restaurant was only 1/3 full when we arrived. We were quickly seated all the way in the back at a window seat with great people watching.

Our waitress came over after about 10 mins to take our drink order. It took a bit longer to get our drinks so we decided to order right away. I ordered the grilled sirloin salad with spinach and a delish blue cheese  vinaigrette. Hubby ordered the crispy crab cake sandwich with mustard coleslaw and a side of house fries. Our other friends got the soup and 1/2 salad. Cobb salads and butternut squash soup. The soups arrived luke warm delivered by a different server. Our server did not stop back by to see how it was so they ate it and we waited for our entrees.

About 10 more minutes pass and our entrees - well most of them - were delivered by 2 more different servers - we have still not seen our original server at this point. The others walk away and hubby does not have his food, 5 more minutes pass still no server in sight and no crab cake. He went up to the front hostess to let her know and she said she would send someone right over - you guessed it 5 more minutes pass and still nothing - finally the crab cake arrives from the kitchen and before we can ask where the fries are the server has disappeared - no how is everything - need anything etc. etc.

The steak that I ordered medium rare came out uneven and mostly rare. And I like my meat bloody but this was barely warmed. We figured our server would be by for sure to fill our now empty beverages and water glasses and we could address the missing fries and bloody meat. She finally made her way back to us ( the restaurant is now 1/2 full with the bar filled with folks watching the Broncos game). So we were certainly manageable.

When our server finally wanders back to us she asked how everything is and my husband inquired abut his fries as his sandwich was half eaten and also said my wife asked for medium rare on her steak. She looked at him and said in an extremely condescending tone - well what does it look like to you?( Who says that)? He looked back at her and politely says - well very rare in the center. She says that is how it is supposed to be but I will take it back. At this point I declined to have it sent back and to just finish eating the salad so we could head to the play. I could not believe how rude and argumentative she was.

The fries finally arrived soon followed by the manager who looked at the steak on my salad and said that is raw. I told him the server was quite condescending and he said well they are tired from being overworked during the holidays to which I politely told him that quite frankly that's not an excuse and not my problem. That we were polite and had the same reasonable expectation to be treated likewise. He could have cared less what I thought and I just gave up wasting my breath as I saw it was going nowhere.

The server comes back to see if we would like to order dessert - um no thank you. We get the check paid the bill - we did tip but not the usual 20 percent and headed to the play.

Why the 2 stars and not 1? Well the food was of a good quality and the meals that
were done right were very tasty  including the late arrival fries.  Plus we were enjoying our time with our dear friends. Limelight is at the perfect location for catching a pre-show bite. I have eaten at other KT restaurants with great food and
service. Maybe they were overworked and tired but don't take it out on the customers.

The hus and I stopped here for an uber-quick dinner before a show at the Denver Center for Performing Arts (conveniently located in essentially the same place).  We ordered a bunch of apps since we only had about 45 minutes before an 8pm showtime, and the kitchen definitely delivered in well enough time for us to make it.  We enjoyed a hearty serving of the truffle fries, mac and cheese, and grilled artichoke with butter and aioli, all of which were rich and very flavorful.  Rich and carb-heavy enough that we regretted not ordering a salad for the roughage, but enough to keep us satisfied through a two hour show.  Our server was friendly and knew we were on a tight timeframe, so got our meal out to us pronto.

The restaurant itself is kind of swank, with dim lighting and a modern aesthetic, not your typical old school supper club that I was expecting.  The clientele seems to be the theatergoers looking for a quick bite before a show.  In all honesty, we shoved the food down our throats and therefore, we'll have to come back to try their actual dinner entrees and review that.  For what we experienced in the short time we were there, though, this resto gets an A-OK in our book.

The 1st time we ate here must have been an off night.
Not only was it X-Mas,  but they had kitchen issues;   I guess too much sipping on the EggNog.

We returned here (mostly because of a $100GC),  and was pleasantly surprised, enough so that I wanted to update and upgrade my original review.
Our starters was a salad topped with poached Lobster.  YUM!!!
Not sure if $15 a salad yum, but yum, the same.

The Hub-To-Be re-tried the Osso Busco, and this time it was falling off the bone delish---4 1/2 stars !!!!
My seared scallops were the only miss of the night.
3 lukewarm, bland scallops sat atop the worst cauliflower I've ever tasted.
It was just plain weird.   It wasn't whipped and it wasn't whole pieces.....it was.....what's the word, chopped maybe. That wasn't the worst part, it had an awful taste to it. Just plain bad. We couldn't eat it.

We're not huge desert eaters and nothing leaped off the page, so we ended our meal there.

On a bright note; it's not an expensive restaurant, super Theatre location, and really does hold promise.
We'll be back at the DCPA in Feb, so we're hoping that 3rd time's a charm -- Looking forward to upping those stars !!!

The boyfriend and I went to Limelight for the last night of Restaurant Week.  Approaching the mostly-empty restaurant for our 8pm reservation was a little disconcerting... what kind of restaurant is completely dead at 8pm on a Friday night?

I had seen the Restaurant Week menu online before making the reservations...  Poached Pear Salad with arugula and fried goat cheese? Bison carpaccio? Seared seabass? Pork Tenderloin with prosciutto?  Sign me up!  Sounded amazing.  Unfortunately, that is NOT what was offered.  Not even close.  There were only 2 choices for each course (as opposed to the online menu with had 3-4 choices per course).

1st course was a simple salad with cherry tomatoes, parmesan, and balsamic vinagrette, or butternut squash soup.  We got one of each.  The salad was average at best.  The soup was actually good, though lukewarm.

2nd course was a choice of seared sea scallops and a ribeye.  Again, we got both.  The ribeye looked good, but it turns out that literally 1/3 of it was fat.  Not the good kind of marbled fat throughout; rather, it was just a hunk of straight up fat. It was disgusting.  The rest of the steak was cooked at a perfect medium rare and it tasted good, but not because of any brilliant seasoning.  I could have made myself a steak that was just as good at home on my grill.  The steak came with exactly 3 small fingerling potatoes, halved, and about 1/2 teaspoon of blue cheese butter.  I am not exaggerating.

The sea scallops were served and I just couldn't help myself from laughing out loud as soon as the server left.  My boyfriend was served exactly 2 sea scallops on a giant white plate.  I would say a total of 1.5 oz of sea scallops.  It was comical, and I laughed everytime I thought it about it for the rest of the night (and now!).

The third course was a choice of oreo cheesecake and creme brulee.  The cheesecake that my boyfriend ordered was about twice the size of his entree - no kidding.  It was good, but it was obvious that it was not made fresh in-house.  My creme brulee with berry jam was tasty, but again - it was gigantic.  It was at least the same size of my steak (at least the edible portion of my steak).  So bizarre.

The boyfriend ordered a gin martini and it was average at best.  My glass of wine was definitely on the short pour side.

The service was... not great.  I expected much more from yet another  "classy" Kevin Taylor restaurant.  i'm not a super "uppity" type, but the plates were served and cleared on the wrong sides and the waitress both served and took away my boyfriend's plates before mine.  That really bothered both of us.  It was clear that she was trying to be proper, but obviously was absolutely NOT in real life.  Really irritating.

The restaurant lacked ambiance; rather, it felt sterile, cold, and completely uninviting.  The portion sizes were laughable, and the service was not good.  Overall, we were both incredibly disappointed.

This was my 2nd Kevin Taylor restaurant in 2 weeks, and I absolutely will never eat at another Kevin Taylor restaurant ever again.  Coming from Chicago and experiencing truly great food, I can say with certainty that if this restaurant operated in the way that it currently does with the food that comes out as it does, it would be laughed out of Chicago.  I believe that the only reason that these Kevin Taylor restaurants do good business is because they are so close to (and within) the performing arts complex.  The experiences themselves certainly do not live up to the hype that I heard, and there are MUCH better places for a great meal in Denver.

We had Wicked tickets tonight, so I made reservations at Limelight.  The staff was friendly and we were able to finish our meal without being rushed to make it next door for the show.  The decor is a bit bland, matching the food.  The huge windows facing the theater are what makes dining here interesting -- it's great for people watching.

All in all, you could do worse and you could do better, but the convenience factor of this restaurant can't be beat.

I've been in twice and the food was superb, service was fast and professional, and I felt like a regular. On a personal level I think Kevin Taylor is a tool, but what the hell, this restaurant is convenient for shows (and the Corner Office SUCKS horribly, unless you want a oral or cocaine in the bathroom), and the staff is top notch.

We felt like we were having dinner at an old folks home! Not really our crowd. Decor is very flat too. Nothing outstanding about this place, but at least it's close to all the theater action. Can't beat the location if you're trying to grab a quick bite before a show!

Kurobuta pork chops.  In and out in less than an hour.  Extensive spirits list.  Friendly service.  To-go wine to take to the theater lounge.
