On Sunday, I spent time with my favorite green gal, @TrulyJoannies. We walked from our house to the cutest little yoga boutique, Lily Lotus on 12th Avenue.

"Lily Lotus is inspired by the practice of living, living in harmony with the body, the mind and the world we live in." When I walked into Lily Lotus, I felt this great positive energy.

Joannie introduced me to Miu who was my fashion diva. Miu and Joannie were so much fun to be with. I felt like I have known them forever.  Miu helped me break out of my shell and try on different colors and styles. I am always drawn to monochromatic colors, but here, because I was able to try on colors that I normally would never try, it made me feel like a different person! I tried on the pink  Chakra Practice Cami, and it put a smile on my face, I felt happier and uplifted.

Some of my favorites were the Logo Practice Cami, Bamboo Racer-back Tank, Bamboo Wrap Top, Bamboo Palazzo Pants. I love the bamboo fabric, it is light weight yet when layered will provide warmth which is great for work and traveling. The way the patterns are cut, they are form fitting yet comfortable.

As Miu says, "I can live in them," and I too want to build my collection to live in comfort and style.

Lily Lotus also carries a variety of jewelery and other yoga goodies.
Save the Date: On Friday, May 7th from 4PM-7PM, Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-5PM check out a special jewelry trunk show hosted by Satya Jewelry.  Just in time for Mother's Day, receive 15% off all Satya purchases all weekend!

Thank you Miu and Joannie, I am in love- In love with Lily Lotus!

Okay, this little slice of Yoga heaven opened up recently up the block from where I go trolling.

    Pros: Items

Nice staff, nice stuff. From Yoga mats, straps, blocks, pants, shirts, EVERYTHING Yoga. You get my drift.

    Con: Pricey

Just put it this way, if you bring $100.00 to spend you will walk out with: 2 pieces of clothing (maybe), or 10 candles, or a headband and some blocks. Keep that in mind. This is what the 3 stars are for. I get that we need CUTE clothes for Yoga and such, but do I need a $60.00 shirt for sweat time? nah not really.

I discovered this boutique a few weeks ago during a trip to the Kailua farmers market. As I drove by the store front, I knew that I had to check it out....I had no idea that the store had relocated from Kaimuki and that I had been missing out on all of this great merchandise for the past few years.

I have never practiced yoga, although I keep saying that I'm going to begin classes...any day now. Nevertheless, I am into all things spiritual and I love comfortable clothes, dresses, and beautiful jewelry--all of which this boutique has to offer.

My first purchase was a beautiful green amethyst bracelet by Maui Jewelry Designer, Debra Mack. The piece is absolutely stunning and drool worthy. I have since returned and bought a wooden bead and gemstone Mala necklace by designer Maya Papaya, a sky brand maxi dress, bamboo palazzo pants, and a beautiful lotus t-shirt. As you can tell, I have become a huge fan.

All of the merchandise is of the highest quality and is crafted with love.
The energy of the store is pure and inviting. The owner and her mother, as well as the rest of the staff, go out of their way to make sure you leave with items that fit your personality and that all that is purchased will be cherished and put to good use. If you don't find anything, that's okay too--I didn't buy anything on my first visit. I came back two days later for the green amethyst bracelet and was treated as though I had been a customer for years. Miraculously, the bracelet was still there waiting for me.

The store has a relaxed vibe and the employees are genuinely interested in their customers as people. The items may be considered pricy by some, but I believe that you get what you pay for.  Lily Lotus offers quality and unique pieces, not to mention the atmosphere is superb, for me it's totally worth it! Five stars all the way!!!!

This is the type of place I always get excited about but then am completely disappointed in. They make a big deal about inner light and joy and beauty and how everyone would benefit from yoga. But their size XL is an 8-10. Seriously? That's about the smallest i've come across. Most brands XL is 12-14 or 14-16 (or even 16-18). In 2009 the average U.S. woman weighs 162.9 pounds and wears a size 14, In 2010 the CDC reports that the average Weight (pounds) for a woman is 164.7.
Certainly the owners can design, market and support whomever they wish. But perhaps they add a disclaimer to their stated goal of "to inspire joy and help our customers express their inner light"  -- only if you're tiny!

Honolulu's blossoming yoga culture is apparent here at Lily Lotus - a tiny boutique located right near Yoga Hawaii and a hop and a skip away from Open Space Yoga - Monsarrat.  I walked in to browse the goods and check out their selection of yoga mats, as I'd neglected to bring one with me on vacation.

I found it odd that they stock some lululemon in with their Lily Lotus stuff, but the majority of the goods are local.  I ended up with a really pretty pair of earrings by Maya Papaya.  In addition to the clothes and jewelry, they also carry Jade yoga mats (love these mats!), Sigg bottles, and other yoga lifestyle inspired items.

Really cute stuff, but be warned that the prices are right up there with lululemon athletica.  But supporting a small local business is totally worth the extra dough...and good karma!

Love everything in this store, but the prices are pretty steep.  I guess that's what you have to do to support local. Anyway, I shop here a few times a year, otherwise, it's just too expensive!

So down to the good stuff.  Momi, the owner, has a website, http://lilylotus.com, which has a lot of good stuff, but the store has store exclusives so basically you have to go there to check it out.  Everything is hand-dyed and not in that cheesy, hippy way, but in that good, glad it's all natural and not harmful dye chemicals way.  The cuts and the fabric are very nice, but more for the slim as this is a yoga store after all.  The store promotes a yoga / healthy lifestyle so expect a lot of soft-breathable clothes.  There are also some great jewelry by Justine and Maya Papaya that you can't get anywhere else.  The jewelry here is def. unique and sets this store apart from other yoga clothing stores, which come to think of it, I don't think I've really seen any except Lulu Lemon, which is a national chain brand store.

PS  Love the owner and the owner's mom.  They're really sweet and friendly and eager to talk about yoga or help you with sizes.  If you're hungry, pick up a scone at Sconees after you get some nice clothes and jewelry.

Update: Lily Lotus in Kaimuki closed its door a week ago (and had an awesome moving sale prior to that). But! Dont worry the business did not fold!! They are opening a store in Kailua later this year. My understanding  from what I last heard from the owner, Momi Chee, is that they are looking to open another location in town again later. Please support them in Kailua when the store opens! It's going to be so sweet!
