My dad, his fishing buddy, and I, all really enjoyed Lil's.  As a previous reviewer mentioned, the atmosphere and service were both really nice. Unlike the previous reviewer, however, none of us liked the calamari dish very much.  On the other hand, we had the japanese hot rock appetizer and it was excellent. I have seen the hot rock at other japanese restaurants, but it is usually only offered with beef. At Lil's they also offered a hot rock with pieces of Walu to cook on the rock, and the Walu was excellent.

There is a wide selection of both cooked dishes and sushi for order. As far as sushi goes, it was by no means the best sushi that I have had. On the other hand, it was better than any of us expected from sushi in the middle of Colorado. They had some unique rolls that I had not seen before. One of the rolls that I ordered was the Godzilla roll. It was an interesting take on the dragon roll, adding strawberries on top of the eel+avocado combo!  I was nervous when I ordered it but it ended up being my favorite roll.

Lil's really warrants more of a 3.5 rating, but darn Yelp always makes me round down.

We loved the atmosphere, service and some of the food. We had a fabulous window side table, which felt like we were in a snowglobe given the snow falling outside. A small thing for anyone who lives in a place where it snows, but for two people raised in the swamp, this was exciting and fun and added to the experience.

Our waiter was awesome and humored me by answering my many questions. The miso soup was really good, and the calamari were excellent. The shrimp appetizer we ordered was drizzled in an absolutely sinful sauce, which made for a heavenly addition to the calamari (apparently other patrons feel the same way, as our waiter asked us if we wanted to keep said sauce to dip our sushi in).

Where the meal went slightly awry was the sushi. It was very average. I would absolutely try Lil's again, but I am not sure I'd order sushi. It all sort of tasted the same, and it wasn't anything special.

We enjoyed our meal here very much and would come back, though it is slightly pricey (over $100 for 2 appetizers, 3 rolls and 1 round of drinks). The ambiance and service and great appetizers more than offset the mediocre sushi.
