If you are expecting your first child, you might think you know what you are getting into. But until you take a childbirth class like Lilly Meehan's, you really have no idea.
Luckily, Lilly is there for you. Classes are held in her home in East Ventura and you are immediately welcomed with open arms. She's a very good, very knowledgeable teacher who is very passionate about her work and you can tell how much she cares for the couples that attend her classes.
Her classes, for the most part, are eight weeks long and cover a broad range of topics including the physical changes, the emotional changes, the coaching for us partners, the breathing and relaxation for the ladies, breastfeeding and post-partum and so much more. She arms you with a ton of information so that you can be as ready as you can be throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
The class sizes are small - there were six couples in our group - so it's a pretty personal experience. The cost was reasonable at $125 for the eight weeks. And each week one of the couples brings snacks for the entire class so we had cupcakes and cookies and brownies and pie and of course, milk. Lots of milk.
You know, I read a lot of what she had to say in the books that we bought, but there were quite a few topics that she covered that either weren't in the books or I breezed by because I didn't understand the importance. Going to a class and learning these things from a strong teacher and meeting other couples who are right there with you gives you something that you just can't get from the books. It really brings it home - I feel so much more prepared than I did before taking the class. Thanks Lilly!
