When I moved to San Jose finding a new pet sitter was high on my list of things to do. My 4 pets, (yes, 4), are all super spoiled. AJ, the owner, has been beyond awesome with them. She has never failed to be available to help me with pet sitting. Late notice, holidays, even when she was over-seas she managed to arrange for my last minute kitty sitting needs in a family emergency.
On top of that, she sends me super cute updates and pictures of my babies to let me know how they are doing. They look totally happy every time.
If you are looking for a great pet-sitter, look no further.
Awesome! Can't wait to go on vacation again so Janise can come and stay with our girls! Very professional, really likes animals, and you could tell our girls really like her too! When she came to return our keys, they were so happy to see her!

This review is so overdue! We used Lil' Chick Pet Sitters last July and were very pleased. Rachael was the best. She was professional and seemed to love our dogs. We will definitely used this service again!
I'll echo the other 5-star reviews here about Lil'Chick and AJ in particular. She's flexible, fair, and goes out of her way to make it happen for us. She's even emailed photos of our dog taken during walks--a great touch. We trust AJ implicitly and strongly recommend her.

I found Lil Chick when my pet sitter moved away. He recommended two other sitters, Lil Chick & Dogs Go Walking. Now, Moema at DGW cancelled at the last minute right before my 15th wedding anniversary trip last year and didn't call me back after I called her 5 times 2 months ago so I thought, OK, I'll give Lil Chick a try.
I got a prompt response, scheduled a meeting and got very appropriate paperwork to fill out about my cat. AJ came to meet my cat and they got along great.
At the last minute, my kitty got sick and required medication morning and night. AJ said that Ira would be helping with the night shift. They immediately set a meeting for both of them to meet my cat and to watch how I prepared his medication. Ira was running late b/c he was working with a very sick, elderly dog. Ah, people that help animals! That sounded great to me. I find it hard to leave my cat alone with a stranger and it was feeling even more difficult when he became sick!
AJ and Ira found out my preferences for how to care for my pet and what to do in case of emergency. AJ even volunteered to take my cat to her house for boarding but I know he's more comfortable in his own space and gets really, really upset out of the house. I felt like they were listening to me which is refreshing.
While I was away, I got updates from their phones while they were doing the visit AND a photo! It made me feel like I was still in the loop and it was so nice to get a picture with each visit! I really miss my cat when I'm away so it was like a little visit with him! They administered the medication although I suspect he put up a good fight b/c he was sticky on his neck (front & back!) from the liquid mixture! He couldn't let them not get a run for their money, right! :)
I'd use Lil' Chick again in a minute! It's also very nice that there's a "team" in place so you're not out of luck if one person can't cover all that you need. I found the convenience of that to be an extra special plus.
I joined Yelp just so I could write this review based on my outstanding experiences with Rachael from Lil Chick.
I don't know anyone in the area that I could leave my two cats with, but I travel once a month for 3-5 days. I didn't want to board my furballz, so I did some online searching... I emailed a few other pet sitting services but their prices were wayyy too high. I mean, I'm happy to pay good money to ensure that my babies are taken care of. But the quotes I received were astronomical, and I was about to give up, until I got a heaven-sent email from Rachael at Lil Chick.
She responds to emails almost immediately. I'm still baffled by this. She doesn't get her emails on her phone-- but you think that she must because her responses come so quickly!
We set up an orientation meeting so that she could meet my devil and my angel, and she totally accommodated my hectic schedule. She arrived on time-- maybe even earlier! How impressive is that? Even though my naughty kitty hissed at her (probably because she was intimidated by the smell of other animals that Rachael takes care of), she was totally cool with it and we had a great visit.
I felt confident in my animal's safety when I left on my trip. Rachael texted or emailed me every day that she visited the cats-- that was really helpful for me, because I'm always too busy to answer my phone. When I returned home, she had written a thank you card and notes for everyday that she visited. So sweet!

AJ is superb. I travel frequently for business and can often be called away on short notice. AJ has managed to accommodate my schedule every time and take care of my two cats. I feel bad about going away and leaving the cats but I feel slightly better knowing AJ is looking after them.
AJ actually spends time with the cats, she doesn't just rush in and rush out again. I think thats the key differentiator.....
Great communications by email while I'm away keeps my mind at rest, and now that she has an iPhone, I get pictures too !
Janise is wonderful!!! When you first interview her, she is down to business and wants to know everything about your pet...EVERYTHING...which shows how serious they are about making your pet happy. I can't say enough nice things about how professional and loving she is with our babies.
Besides taking on our 4 high maintenance spoiled kitties and playing laser pointer with them, she also took on "Bullyben the Bunny that Attacks" our foster bunny with issues. We came home and they were all happy and healthy.
This is the second time we had her pet sit for us and I completely recommend Janise and Lil Chick Pet sitters, they are professional and you can tell that they take pet sitting seriously with your pets best interest at heart. Thanks Janise!!!! :)
A previous pet sitting service I used was no longer returning my calls. I needed to find someone else to take care of my three cats. I go out of town frequently and my cats are extremely important to me. I have a hard time trusting their care to anyone.
I contacted Lil Chicks and Rachael returned my email within an hour! Her and I set up an initial consultation and I was immediately put at ease. After learning of her experience in pet care, I had total confidence that she could handle anything with my cats while I was away.
She has taken care of my little monsters on several occasions and I already have her booked for several more this year. I am totally relaxed knowing that she is there to care for them. My two boys love her! My little girl won't come out of hiding, but I know Rachael has spent time talking to her and comforting her. The boys always miss her when she's gone, and remind me for days that she plays with their toys more than I do! I also love the daily texts that I get updating me and the comprehensive note that I come home to.
Lil Chicks is fabulous and I feel 100% comfortable leaving my cats in their care.
We recently went out of town for two weeks and used Lil Chick Pet Sitters to watch our cat while we were gone. Jen was very professional and sent up frequent updates (the good and the bad). I really appreciated that so I was at ease on vacation knowing my spoiled cat was well taken care of. It is very apparant that Jen loves animals and we came home to a happy and healthy cat. We will definitely use them again!
I have used Lil' Chick Pet Sitters on two occasions and Janise was really great with my two older dogs. She seemed to like them and they seemed to like her.
GREAT...so, why two stars instead of five???
I originally engaged the services of Lil' Chick when my two dogs' regular nanny was not able to come in for a few days. I checked Yelp and the glowing recommendations intrigued me. It seemed to work out well at that time. However, there are a few days next week that our nanny again is not able to come in. (Janise had told me that all I needed to give her was 24 hours notice.) I immediately notified Janise last night and she had forwarded my email to AJ, the owner. Even with my giving four days' advance notice of the need for a mid-day potty walk for my dogs, neither Janise nor an alternate sitter were available to help me.
It is so time consuming and tedious to complete the much needed paperwork and interview candidates when one is searching for this type of service - after all, one wants to ensure that their precious pets will be taken care of properly and that their home will not be ripped off. I just found it disappointing and frustrating that they did not have another person available that could help me with such an easy task - just one brief mid-day potty walk.
I would think that with our current recession, Lil' Chick would welcome the business with open arms. It's horrible that they do not have enough staffing to accomodate the needs of their clientele. When I initiated services with Lil'Chick, they seemed eager to have my business. Now, I'm beginning to wonder whether I should start seeking a more reliable pet sitting service. I think it's just cruel, heartless and unreasonable to expect pets (especially an elderly pet taking diuretics) to stay at home alone, while one is at work, without even one mid-day potty walk!
Where do I begin. We have used other pet sitters, such as Fetch and have been more than pleased. We recently moved and while there was a fetch rep in the area we decided to interview a few other services. From the moment Janise (pronounced Janeese) walked in the door for the "get to know your pet" interview - I felt right at home. She even offered to take us to the airport when we left (I am not sure if I should advertise that one :)
Let me set the stage, we were leaving for an extended trip, almost 3 weeks, to get married and a for a honeymoon. We have 3 very loving but high maintenance male dogs (aka "The Boys"), ages 6, 5, & 4. Janise sent us great updates everyday and here are some of the hurdles/things she did...
1. Put bows on the boys and took pictures during our wedding service 2,000 miles away so they would be there in spirit (and we felt it too).
2. One dog got a swollen eye and she took care of him without any additional/unseen costs - just what she spent on the benedryl and e-collar. She knew that while we will do anything for our pets, an unscheduled, after-hours trip to the emergency vet is large financial burden and used her (VERY THOROUGH) knowledge to make the judgement call.
3. A tree fell in our backyard and she offered to call the landlord and set up a time with him to come and cut the tree so she could be there with the boys and make sure they did not get out or hurt.
4. We got a "barking dog" warning from the city of sunnyvale - you can only imagine how, even with the best pet sitter in the world (which Janise is), your dogs get unhappy after 3 weeks of abandonment. She went to our neighbor and spoke with them because her primary concern was that an angry neighbor might do something harmful to the boys.
5. We have a bunch of fruit trees in our yard and we gave her free reign of the house (from washer and dryer to the DVD collection) so the boys would have as much company for the "abandonment" as possible. She made fresh fruit pies out of our fruit in the backyard and left one on the freezer for us - we are cooking it today and I can not wait!
The list keeps going but I am sure you have stopped reading by now. I mean, I have not even unpacked and I have already written the yelp review and paid the bill - that is how amazing the service was. I will never use another service again. I will schedule my vacations around Janise's availability. Her knowledge, love, affection and overall personality are just fabulous. THANK YOU LIL' CHICK AND JANISE FOR LOVING OUR BOYS JUST AS WE DO!

FABULOUS~!!! Is all i can say -- if I could animate something that showed you jazz-hands whilst saying that, I would... unfortunately, yelp is not yet this sophisticated... yet.
AJ is a total animal lover who really cares about your pets. We have two cats that are very skittish ex-street cats who we rescued from the Human Society, and they did their version of "warming up" to her the first time she met them :) Great for us since we hate to board our girls, and also b/c AJ is great at making room on short notice too! Keep up the great service, AJ - we love you!
We have used Lil Chick Pet Sitters, and specifically Janise, twice in the last year when we have been away for overnight pet sitting. We have two (high maintenance :D ) dogs and one (low maintenance) cat, and boarding isn't a great option for us (esp the dogs, they like their routine). Janise has been a wonderful person to have in or home both times, the dogs really like her and she is very attentive, polite and thoughtful. While we are gone we get emails and a phone call, this time the email had a picture even which was really great. I strongly recommend this very professional and above and beyond service for anyone who needs a petsitter, they are the best!
I first read about A.J. and lil chick here on yelp. We were going on a 15 day trip and we didn't have anyone to watch our kitty. We came here and I instantly knew after checking her website and reading her reviews that she was great. We met to discuss all of the details. A.J. was extreamely detailed bringing all the necessary documents. I knew after our first meeting that we weren't going to have to worry about our kitty while on our trip. She is SO trustworthy. Someone you feel strangly comfortable letting in your house.
I have to say that A.J. goes above and beyond what I could have ever asked for. She emailed us a few times during our trip and kept us in the loop with what was going on with our kitty. She understands the anxiety that a person can have while they are away from their child (kitty).
I would highly recommend A.J. and Lil Chick to all my family and friends.
I received a very nice message from the owner. Clearly there was a communication break down. But A.J was professional enough to seek my feedback, and she apologized.
Because of A'J's follow up with me, I would re-consider using Lil' Chick because she obviously values the feedback. And based on most yelpers the service they provide appears to be outstanding.

Janise did a fine job caring for our cat while we were out of town for a a few days, and emailed us frequent updates. Most importantly, she gave our cat her liquid medicine (which the cat absolutely hated). That's not something that just anyone would be willing or able to do.
AJ (the "Lil Chick") ROCKS when taking care of animals! She truly takes the time and connects to your animals. We have two rats and a Betta fish. AJ had the boys come to her house, where they got to spend the long weekend with a client/guinea pig and AJ's other animals. She introduced us to her pet cats and house rabbit, and was patient with us while we over-explained our feeding routines and such.
AJ sent us several email updates, and it sounds like the rats had a great weekend! She was talking with our rats, petting them, putting them near the back door so they could look out into the yard. (Rats are very curious creatures!) They were happy, calm, and relaxed when we went to pick them up, and AJ's rates are very reasonable! She doesn't take too many animals at once so she can spend quality time socializing with the animals in her care, so she's not always available. Make reservations! We're so pleased, we've scheduled the rats to visit her again while out of town in August and then at our wedding & honeymoon in October. Thanks AJ!
All I can say is that these guys know what they are doing. They are professional and considerate. We use Rachael for our 9 year old (but still a bit hyper) lab when we go out of town, and she is great with her. Rachael really cares about her and alerts me to anything she thinks I should know.
Lil Chick responded very quickly to my request for a sitter, and happily accomodated me even though it was short notice. Lil Chick's pet sitter was friendly and professional, and readily agreed to all my instructions about feeding and care. My cats really liked her--in fact they were a bit disappointed when I came home and she stopped coming by!
Lil Chick Pet Sitters are great. Janise, one of their best, is excellent. Her care for the animals was like they were her own. She really cares about doing a good job. When we came back from our trip, I noticed the little things done, she cleaned the dogs water bowl and the lawn where the dogs go to the bathroom was clean. She emailed us everyday the status of our dogs. It was such a relief to have a professional on the job.
A.J. is the best pet sitter! We found Lil' Chick Pet Sitters through the Willow Glen Times - they were voted best pet sitter and the distinction is well-deserved. A.J. came to our house at a time convenient for us (later in the evening) and our little Sofie took to her immediately! Since Sofie is our only "child", we want the very best for her and I trust A.J. to take care of her as her own dog. In addition to the usual walking, feeding, and playtime, A.J. goes above and beyond and gives us a daily report of Sofie's activities and notes any special things like some excessive sneezing (allergies) or a little 'accident' in the back corner (we're still housetraining). A.J. is very responsible and very customer service-oriented. I have called her at 10pm the night before for an emergency dog sit the next day and she has always been completely accommodating. We highly recommend A.J. and her Lil' Chick pet sitting services!
