I recently started to volunteer with LIFE Elder Care in Fremont with their Meals on Wheels program. Although the main reason of my volunteering is for a class at school, I really enjoyed taking my time to help others after my first session of voluteer hours today.  Before, I didn't know much about the Meals on Wheels program besides the fact that they delivered meals to seniors. Today, I was able to learn a lot about the program and that they deliver hot/cold nutritious meals to seniors and also disabled non-seniors.

Some things that I noticed is that the staff at LIFE Elder Care truly care about the seniors that they work to help out. The coordinators all seem genuinely happy to be working there and they are all very caring. Another thing that I found very cool was the amount of volunteers the organization has. Just in Fremont, there are almost 300 volunteers, and just today, they had around 30 volunteers to deliver food.  Many of the volunteers I spoke with are there to do it because they really want to, and many of them have been volunteering for many years.

After delivering the food and seeing the gratitude of the seniors and disabled, it was very rewarding to know that I could help a few people in a day. Overall, I found that this organization is awesome in doing what they do. It's nice to know that when people get old and eventually unable, there's somewhere and someone that will always be there to help. After volunteering today, I really actually want to commit to it longer than I need to do just for school.
