Nice sandwich and coffee shop. The nice touch of gelatto to top off a good meal.
We ordered the italian roast beef sandwich with au jus and a nicoise salad with a mediterranean lemon chicken soup.
Cute little shops all within this shopping center.
The service was fast! -

GELATO!!!!!!! They have this fantastic Blood Orange gelato. SO yummy!!!!!! I really like this place. The service is ok. They need two cashiers. Every time I go its super busy and theres only one person. They need more help. The staff here is pretty friendly. They're always ok with me standing there sampling every flavor of gelato!!!!!!
Decent prices, good service and EXCELLENT GELATO! They also have more tables in the back in case someone wants to throw a BOX SOCIAL there. The open mic and musicians ruins it for me a bit but I can live with it, Pretty chill place overall. Apparently they have free wi-fi too! SWEET!!!! SAMPLE THE GELATO!!! -

Oh la Lido's!
Robust, Lavazza coffee.
Plenty of space to sprawl out!
Free wi-fi, of course, and power outlets.
Clean with sturdy tables.
Made-to-order sandwiches.
Gelato.
Gelato!
Did I mention they have gelato? Oh, yes I did. Just watch me get crazy with the Nutella flavor and hope for a bite. Or better yet, get your own!
The staff is friendly and accommodating, and I adore the window view of downtown Oak Park. This is going to be even better in the winter with the snow!Listed in: Let's Go Surfing!, Oak Park Faves!, Closing Time.

I came here hoping to have breakfast and study a bit. Unfortunately, they don't have much food, and what they do serve isn't very satisfying.
Coffee was delicious, but I left hungry and disappointed that I'd blown my breakfast budget without filling myself up. -

I've stopped in here a few times. A few times after the movies to enjoy some dessert of coffee and a couple of times to sit and work or read.
There is a lot of seating. A big back area that I never usually see anyone in. Free WiFi. If you don't have a computer they have 3 available for you to use.
The gelato are sorbet are SO good. Coffee drinks are great as well. The mocha and chai latte are my favorites.
You can also get lunch here. They have soup and made to order sandwiches and paninis.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Review from Reuben H.
Sometimes a coffee shop should not be all about eternally tormented youth trying to find their own little world within the confines of a dark space with poor lighting and sub-cultured and overly sappy singer-songwriter music blaring over the sound system. Don't get me wrong- sometimes that is actually my cup of tea (or coffee) so-to-speak, but SOMETIMES- I am looking for something with a bit more liveliness.
Lido's is not, and most probably never will be one of these dark and moody places, and for this area- I am quite positive that is a good thing!
We came here last night after dinner at Marion Street Cheese Market for a coffee (Lavazza!!!). I ended up ordering a mocha from a very friendly woman at the counter who was talkative the entire night. You can just tell this is a family-run joint, and a nice addition to the newly redone Marion Street.
Couple notes- this place has gelato- but anyone that can remember how damn cold it was on the night of February. 3 will realize why I didn't order any. I will have to come back in the summer again just to try. They also had some pastries and cakes that looked pretty good- and the chocolate dipped biscoti is one thing that I can vouch for.
What was also very cool was the space was quite large- it was a storefront that went very deep and towards the back there was a group playing Wii bowling.
Overall seemed like a nice local place to go get a cup of coffee or just hang out and have good conversation.Listed in: Lunch Time: Fraudview Style

I'm so glad this place opened. Now there is somewhere to go for coffee in downtown Oak Park that isn't a chain. It reminds me very much of a European cafe. The service is good and attentive without that overly "fake friendliness". It is sparkling clean and the decor is beautiful. The back room is huge. The owners and people who work here obviously care about the place and it shows.
Oh...and the coffee and chai latte - yum! I can't wait to try the gelato this summer.
I really hope they weather the economy. This is one of those businesses that makes a town unique. -

This is just what Oak Park needed! The only ice cream place in walking distance from my apartment is Cold stone and I am sick of their crappy attitudes and poor customer service. The only bad thing about Lido's is that it is located right near Kyber Pass's new location so half of marion street now reeks of curry....yick.
Anyway, the gelato is absolutely phenomenal. I had a single cup of limoncello (mmmm...it had a hint lavender) and raspberry chocolate chip. They put two flavors in one cup. It's a nice way to have two flavors without having to get two whole scoops of each flavor. The flavors were unique tasting and super fresh. It came in a cut little yellow cup and a clear pink fun shaped spoon.
I cannot wait to go back and try all the flavors...and then the drinks...and then the sandwiches..... -

Marion Street is one of the streets that is luring me to change my residence to Oak Park with all its eateries and boutiques. As for goodies, I'm loving Lido's Caffe. They carry my hard-to-find Lavazza coffee, wonderful cookies, gelato and free wi-fi (a highly recommended alternative to Starbuck's).
What's even better is that you're likely to see a jazz band or blues guitarists out there playing all afternoon on the weekends. A crowd always tends to gather outside the cafe and you never know who you might meet. It just really feels like a community. -

YUM!
I was shopping in the area and needed to grab some lunch. I remember walking by this place so I decided to stop on in and I'm glad I did.
I LOVE me some good soup. I was so glad they had tomato bisque! woohoo! I decided on the half sandwich soup combo. They have a checklist for your order so you just mark down what you want on your sandwich. However I ordered focaccia bread but got a panini instead. It was still really good, I didn't say anything and just ate it.
But my soup! I wish I would have written this review sooner so I can list the chunks of veggies it had it it. It was the best tomato bisque I've had in long time.
The place is really big, they have 2 computers for the public to use. I can't wait to go back to try some more soup. -

I ate there last week for the first time. I had a grilled cheese that was made with Provolone cheese. It was alright though the bread was more toasted than grilled. I guess I am more used to a buttery bread and it was try like toast. The provolone as the only cheese was a bit bland but that isn't there fault.
The gelatto was really good and the staff were AWESOME!! -

What can I say about Lido's?
This place is fantastic. They have such an array of beverages and snacks, as well as delicious sandwiches and gelato.
The prices are as fair as it gets, especially for the snacktacular chai tea lattes which blow Starbucks' out of the water at a fraction of the cost. Speaking of beating the competition, the coffee and iced coffee are of very high quality and taste great even black.
I have been coming here for quite some time on a very regular basis because I love to study outside of the house and this atmosphere is definitely conducive to such activities.
The staff is very friendly, warm, and attentive. The owners have gotten to know me by name and I've even made it to the wall of fame (Lido is a photography enthusiast, or a guy who likes to take pictures. -Mitch Hedberg anyone?)
I am moving to Arizona at month's end, and the first thing I will miss about Oak Park is definitely this place. -

This is a great place, right in the middle of Marion Street. Many people think this is just another coffee shop. It's not! The gelato is decadent! Delicious flavors and nice generous portions. Ohhhh so much better than a typical scoop of anything else on the street! I walk right past the slow moving lines at Coldstone!
You can bring your laptop and take advantage of the free WiFi, or use their computers for free. They have few in the front area of the store.
I don't know if the pastries are made on site or not, and frankly, I don't care! They are delicious....there's a great assortment of Italian yummies, and the prices are very fair.
Panini and sandwiches are on the menu too....and of course the great coffee drinks...which are more traditional than trendy. I loved my Americano with a steam cap. It was perfection.
They have live music on Friday nights, which we really enjoyed.
No problems if you come in with a big group. They have a huge room in the back which I've seen used as a party room from time to time. -

Yet another noisy space in Oak Park.
While the coffee and the paninis are good, the noise from the refrigerators, steamers, and coffee machines, is too much. Patrons have to raise their voices to carry out conversations, thus contributing to the background noise, thus driving other patrons to raise their voices more.
It beats me as to why you would custom build a coffee shop and opt to install over 4 refrigeration compressors into the shop's lounge. Not only these compressors are noisy but they also release heat which taxes the a/c in the summer.
Again, the coffee is good. The paninis tasty. The sodas refreshing. The space inviting. The wireless free and reliable. And the noise, oh the noise ... why? -

CLOSED AGAIN FOR GOOD. I knew they wouldn't last. They just didn't have a good system and having bands all the time is a gimmick and gimmicks never work. What works if focus on doing ONE thing well. What does Starbucks do? Coffee. What does Pizza Hut do? Pizza. etc.

It was a relief to find a non-chain in the area, and although the space was nice, I really thought this place was so-so.
The tea selection was bag flavors that you could purchase at a local grocery. The cookies and baked goods also look store bought. I actually asked if the cannoli were made there and was met with a terse, "No."
But with those minor gripes aside, the space is bright and inviting. My husband enjoyed his espresso. And the other lady working behind the counter was very nice and accommodating.
I will visit again. I still can't believe I passed up the gelato. It looked amazing. -

I went to their 'soft opening' when they opened their doors to the public.
My grilled panini was very good. They had all the Italian goods -- including the cheeses and prosciutto. My friend and I also tasted some mixed-berry gellato....probably the best that I've had in a long time! After that, I sampled a bite of cannoli--it reminded of the kind that my mom used to make. Not too shabby since she's the 'real-deal' Italian.
There were a few kinks, but that's pretty typical at a new place. Looking forward to their official opening....and that yummy gellato! -

It's a nice place if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner. They have good Lavazza coffee. We ordered the salami pannini and mozzarella salad which were very tasty and prepared fresh. A big plus is that you can create your own sandwich.
Wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a romantic setting. It is nice and clean, but no ambiance - it has a Cosi/Panera Bread decor, modern with no warmth. The food is served on paper plates with plastic utensils, and coffee is served in paper/plastic cups - a big negative.
Not crowded at all (we were there around 6pm). Good location. Good for a quick bite to eat. -

I've only been here a couple of times, but came today for tea. They had plenty of options which was nice. They also had some really good cookies to eat with the tea. We wanted to sit in the back but it was really quiet and seemed people were studying so we sat up front. They are surprisingly big and had lots of seating which is nice. Next time I come back I want to try the gelato which looked really good!

Ever since I moved back to Oak Park and discovered Lido's just down the street from me, I haven't been able to get my coffee fix elsewhere. They brew Lavazza, which is delicious Italian coffee. I've only tried one fancy drink, so I can't expound on that category, but for simple espresso or a cappuccino, much much better than anything you're going to get from Caribou, Starbucks, Prairie Bread Kitchen, etc. If you haven't yet, give Lido's a chance, it's always great to support a local business and I don't think you will be disappointed!
Oh! And the turkey sandwich with provolone and balsamic is fantastic. And then there's the gelato. What else do you need?
PS Can't believe I forgot this: if you get espresso to go, you can get a tiny espresso sized carry-out cup. Love it. -

Live right down the street from this place and it still took me over a year to stop in. Don't know what I was thinking... I got the raspberry choc chip gelato and it was tasty!

GELATO!
I have walked passed Lido's a few times and always wanted to go in to try their gelato since I absolutely love gelato, but I've never had the chance to try it until today after an early dinner.
They have lots of gelato flavors - and they let you try as many different flavors as you'd like. I especially like the pink grapefruit sorbet - light and refreshing; it really cleanses the palette. That and the blood orange gelato are their most popular flavors. I had a taste of the blood orange and its really good too. -
Review from Rosie D.
Ok the sandwiches at this place are AMAZING! Went to lunch there with some co-workers awhile back and I ordered this really wacky sandwich and my friend ordered a more safe sandwich. The guy switched our orders so she ended up taking a bite out of mine and loving it! So much so that she kept mine and bought me another. Lol. The cookies are good too. Def a nice spot to tempt you. I love the space. When you see it from the outside you may not realize it's so huge. But man it's so spacious. I would have given this place 5 stars but the prices are a bit high for a sanwich shop. Especially since there's so many quality sanwich shops within spitting distance. But it's a nice place to visit on payday maybe. Lol.

I really love this place for it's originality. It's just what downtown Oak Park needed. Great food. I love the sandwiches. I love the croissants. I love the cookies. I love the Italian sodas. I love the coffee (free refills). And I love the gelato. Free wi-fi too. Something else I really love is their eco-friendliness. Real plates and cups!

I am so glad to have this place nearby, with its space, its free wifi, and its yummy snacks. I particularly enjoy walking here to write papers. The staff is very nice, and sometimes I've hung around for several hours working on things I'd get distracted from at home without ever getting the stink eye for it despite only getting a couple bottles of mineral water and a pastry of some sort. Usually has at least a few folks around but is almost never too crowded to be comfortable.

Great place for Euro coffee gelato. Very nice staff to adults. I hear they chase teenagers away. I understand in certain circumstances. They should try to come up with an acceptable strategy for catering to teenagers without alienating adults.
Overall a great Oak Park treasure. -

Stopped in for a drink on a recent shopping trip. Nice, clean space. Has a European feel. I had a nonfat, iced chai which was super delicious! My sister had a java, chocolate chip blendissimo (frozen coffee drink) which was also really good. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area and am looking foward to trying other beverages and the gelato!

This is definitely the pride and joy of the owner, Lido. And the man has reason to... The gelato is AMAZING. Like someone already said, they let you test every delightful flavor and if you fall in love with more than one, they'll let you get two flavors for the price of one! The flavors are legit Italian, with bacia and nutella, as well as exotic, like mango and blood orange. I didn't chow on the paninis, but something flavorful definitely lingered in the air.
But I will be returning to this establishment not just for the food, the atmosphere is defintely a plus. Its still a new setting so its a little on the plain side, but I like where they're going. Computers are available for customers to use, as well as wi-fi, making it a perfect study area. If studying isn't your goal, but staring into the stars of your partner's eyes, the tables tucked in the back are cozy for holding hands over brunch or gelato after a movie at the Lake theater down the street.
The staff is old school in that the customer is always right so if you want to try multiple flavors of gelato or if you want to sit at their giant Vito Corleone table, its done. But if you give them lip, worry because Lido may pull out his "Lido's Attitude Adjuster" (an engraved baseball bat) or give you a tour of Martin's Vault (ask about it, hee hee). These are the sorts of quirks that make this place feel homey. I also had the unexpected honor of shooting the breeze with the owner, Lido, who's not only proud of his product, but one colorful personality. The guy pays attention to his patrons and is super personable. He had me giggling at dirty jokes and colorful stories about his experiences. This guy is the Don. -

Lido's is a great place for a bit to eat in downtown Oak Park. I've been going there for monthly meetings with a group of mine. The service is fantastic, their employees are extremely polite and helpful. It's not too noisy, there is room to relax and enjoy some time. I love their paninis.

I used to really like this place--with their excellent gelato and other sweet treats. But recently, meaning, today, meaning RIGHT NOW I've had a less than even 'nice' experience. This is my first BAD review on Yelp so that should tell you a lot about me. I've been in this place studying since around 8 AM. Things started off nicely with a muffin and coffee and ended poorly with the LONGEST WAIT FOR A TUNA SANDWICH: 35 minutes! When I finally got this panini it was made without the cheese I requested and paid for. What da deuce?! I watched people who ordered after me get their sandwiches to their tables in respectable time. Is tuna just so difficult that it can't be mastered in 10 minutes? Suffice to say, this is probably my last day at Lido's. Maybe I'll stop in for some gelato, but I'll never stay here and study again. Feel...ing...hypo...glycemic & weak isn't my idea of a good cafe experience!
