8 reviews for Levi's BBQ
I went to Levi's today after reading the 3 reviews. Yup, I'm a fan and will be back. The funny thing is, I've actually passed the place before, but never knew what it was.
Anyway, there are tables, but you get your food cafeteria-style. Just go up to the friendly lady and tell her what you want. Today was the fried fish special, but I got the fried chicken.
The server lady told me they only had wings, and was really nice enough to check that she was giving me good pieces. I said, wings were fine. I also got the collard greens and macaroni 'n' cheese. I chose the cornbread instead of the wheat or white slice of bread.
On the way to the cashier, holy cow! You pass a slew of packaged slices of cakes and pies. I couldn't pass that up and, sure enough, saw the red velvet cake.
I intended to go home and enjoy my food, but I wanted it right then and there. My fried chicken wings were the BIGGEST chicken wings I've ever had - and she gave me four of them. The chicken was flavored nicely. I don't even know WHAT the flavors were, but it was good. I was full at 2 wings but kept on eating. Geez.
The collard greens were good too, chopped in large pieces, like homemade. The mac 'n' cheese was my fave - the cheese was creamy even though it was like a baked mac 'n' cheese (which I love). The cornbread had a good flavor but it was kinda on the harder, dry side. It was OK though.
Being stuffed, I took my red velvet cake home. Was it the best? No, but it had decent flavor. It was on the drier side but I dug the frosting.
I went in intending to get the ribs and chopped pork. I'm gonna get that next time and then try two other sides, and a different dessert - maybe the sweet potato pie. Seriously, the yummy combinations are endless.
I'm goin' back and will re-post when I do. I hope it's soon. I'm so thankful you other Yelpers rated this place :)
STAY AWAY from this place. I decided to go back a second time. So I ordered the catfish, macaroni and cheese, cabbage, and sweet potato pie. The best thing was the pie, which has strings from the potato in it. The fish was fried in old grease, the cabbage was the worst that I have ever had, the mac-n-cheese, uhh kraft tastes better. I will never, I repeat never go to this place again. I don't understand why locals think this is the be all to end all of comfort food, well its not. Step outside of dc/va/md for once in your lives and try other places. I'm mad cause I should've cooked and saved us 35.00 for crap.

Well I had a taste for some good ole down home soul food. We decided to come here and I ordered… Read more »
Only 2 reviews? Shocks me. This place has authentic soul food. Mmmm their mac n cheese is mouth-watering. It has a smoother cheese sauce, as opposed to a baked (clumped together) mac n cheese.
-1 star for location. I use to work in DC, and this place is long drive from where I lived. I heard the opened a location right in the heart of DC! YAY, next time I'm in the area...I'll check it out.

Got Soul?
Levi's does!
This cafeteria style set-up allows me to select the crunchy looking pork chop or the rib with all the sauce on it.
I love this little place.
It was originally owned by an African American Family, they sold to Koreans in 2006 (?). The food and portions went downhill for awhile but got better after many complaints. I was a complainer!
Got soul-food on your mind? This is THE PLACE to go!
Fried/baked fish, pork chops, BBQ ribs (beef & pork), fried & baked chicken, meatloaf, crabcakes, greens, greenbeans, cabbage, corn, candied yams AND MORE.
Oh!
I almost forgot to mention the desserts - cakes, cakes and more cakes, pies, banana pudding - whew!
What's wrong with you people? This place awful, awful, awful. Everythings looks like mystery meat in some sort of gravy. I always end up here when I'm having a craving for "just one rib" (cheers for those who get the reference). Well both times I thought this place would satisfy me it's just gross.
Yuck! As a self-proclaimed foodie and having been born and raised in the heart of the South, I know soul food, and this aint it! The food is not fresh, it is bland and down right scary. The selection was wide, but who needs options when everything in the place looks like it will give you food poisoning. I don't have any idea who could possibly think this place was any good. Save yourself!

This is THE place for SOUL FOOD in the Washington, D.C. area. Delicious salisbury steak, heavenly macaroni and cheese, green beans tasted like green beans should, and can we talk about sweet tea? This tea makes you wanna slap yo' mama! Visit Levi's when you're in the area. Your tummy will thank you. Oh- be sure to have a dessert, like Red Velvet cake, carrot cake, peach cobbler, cherry cake, etc.
