Based on my first experience, I must give Lets go Diner five stars.  The roommate and I wanted to eat somewhere in Wicker Park..but because it was 72 degrees outside in November...everyone and their mother was out! We didn't want to wait for a table. We walked and walked until we came upon this little place.

First we noticed the specials board outside the door. A lot of different things to choose from...breakfast and lunch...all for under $7. Ok..let's try it.

when we walked in NO ONE was there. Hard to believe after all the places we passed on the way.  They have about eight large tables with five chairs around each one. the tables and chairs are the hardwood kind your grandmother had. Heavy duty and nostalgic. Nice.

The kitchen is in public. A nice man in a chefs jacket behind the 'kitchen/bar'. Next time i'll sit up there so I can watch him.

The server was a shy, quiet Mexican girl with great manners. She provided excellent service.

I enjoyed how they were playing music off a little radio over the 'back kitchen' that was mexican hip hop. but as soon as one other table arrived, they switched it to something different. I really didn't mind the mexican hip hop...adds character to the place.

Now..the food. We decided to share two of the specials. The sloppy joe's with fries and pickles($4.95), and the Cajun Tilapia Tacos(around $6). The sloppy joe came out first and we decided to eat it open face. It was different looking than your typical 'manwich' style joe. It looked more...ummm...gourmet? It was so delicious. The best Joe i've ever had...and i'm a southerner! The fries were spiced very nicely.  The Cajun Tilapia Tacos were fantastic as well. You get three heaping tacos with all the trimmings...tomato, lettuce, cheese, and some kind of homemade salsa. FANTASTIC!!!  There was so much food we couldn't finish it all.

After our two meals and two cokes...with tax it came to $15.10. I was buying and I sure didn't mind that! We left a 35% tip because of the affordability, variety, and service.

I will be back here as often as possible!

After two years under construction, it turned out to be a very lousy place...one of the worst I've had so far.  I rarely give one star because I think every place is good for something, but not this place.

It's been pretty dead.  Instead of fixing their food, it looks like they've decided the real problem is that they don't have enough signs out front.  They keep putting more and more signs out on the sidewalk, and keep adding more unrelated items on the signs to the point that the front of the restaurant looks like a garage sale.  Like a cheap salesman that will try to sell anything for a buck, you can't even tell what the place is supposed to be selling anymore.  You can get bubble tea, tacos, fried chicken, lasagna, fried rice, gyros, noodles, beef sandwich, pizza, not to mention lattes and free WiFi....you get the point LOL!

As soon as you walk in you can tell it is a Mexican restaurant trying to be anything but Mexican, when all they have to do is serve okay Mexican food, or just a reasonable huevos rancheros.  It is a shame cause the service is good.  I hope they figure it out soon cause it is a bit of a hike to walk down to the four De Pasada/La Pasadita Mexican restaurants on Ashland or to Cafe Con Leche up the street.

Looking for a great and cozy brunch place without the wait? Look no further!

A friend and I planned to go to The Bongo Room for Saturday morning brunch. Unfortunately it had a 45 minute wait (and it was raining and they don't have a waiting area). So my friend and I decided to walk down the street and found Lets Go Diner.

We didn't have to wait at all and the place was cozy warm. The tea and coffee was hot and good! We both had omelets that seemed to be cooked with fresh vegetables...yum! The fruit cup included fresh strawberries and pineapple.

The hash browns were a bit bland; the reason for one star off (I'm a huge hash browns lover!).

The waitress was prompt and helpful, without being annoying. I definitely recommend this place.

I did NOT experience this all day breakfast that people speak of. I feel cheated. And for that, I took away a star.

If you're hungry, and this place ir 3 steps away from you, by all means, eat here. The food was OK, but just that OK. I get a little sketched out by places that don't really specailize in one thing. And, considering there aren't THAT many things on the menu... the sketch factor was high.

ALSO, I did NOT think that this place was "inexpensive", I can get a better lunch in the LOOP at a cheesy sit-down lunch spot, for the same prices, or less, even.

The service left something to be desired, considering we were the ONLY patrons here at 7PM on a Thursday....

If you go in with the expectation that you are getting diner food you will be pleased! very cheap for wicker park, and its nothing fancy. when you need a cozy little diner with friendly staff, this is the place! i always picture diners having categorically crazy angry waitresses but not here. the one thing that irked me (and it wasn't their fault) is that i could taste pork flavor in my breakfast. this again is my own fault for not thinking straight. i am jewish and don't eat any pig products and i am guessing the griddle is filled with all that!

This was the first breakfast joined I tried after moving to the neighborhood a couple of months ago, and I had read really good reviews on Yelp. My first thought when I walked in was "don't judge a book by its cover".

Well, I should have. I didn't know it was a Mexican run diner. Nothing wrong with that. I'm on a life mission to find the perfect heuvos rancheros. I can knock this place off the list for not even coming close. My boyfriends steak and eggs was fine, albeit a little overdone, but how hard is steak and eggs?

We were one of two tables in the joint, and I'm not surprised.

What I should have done was taken advantage of the $1 tacos they were offering that day, and ordered three! I'm sure I would have been much happier with my meal.

There is nothing special here which is a good thing. Every neighborhood needs a diner like these. It opens real early and the food is very inexpensive. I noticed a BYOB sign on the inside as well.

I went for the the tuna melt which they were out of so opted for the BLT instead. The fries were like a pile of salt with some potato sprinkled in.

The waitress and the cook were especially nice. I look forward to coming here early in the morning before I catch the #56 downtown.

This is an awesome little addition to the neighborhood. Where else can you get great cheap breakfast food at 6:00 am in WP? If you're looking for a little financial break from all the typical high-end brunch places in WP this is the place for you.

The staff is super friendly and sweet. The tables are big, round, and spacious. The walls are colored, but don't have much on them. This place has an open kitchen so be prepared to smell like an awesome burrito after your visit (no big deal, there are worse smells--haha).

On to the food: $7.00 for chilaquiles is a flipping steal! You get a huge plate with a healthy serving of rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, eggs, chips smothered in salsa verde, and a side of sour cream--for 7 buckaroos! Holy tamales!

I'm going back for sure!

Let's Go Diner is a good place to go for a greasy spoon breaksfast.  It is one of the few options in the neighborhood for breakfast (an actual restaurant, not a bar that makes breakfast food two days a week) where you won't have to wait 30 minutes to sit down on the weekends.  Nothing really special, but what you see is what you get.  The traditionals (bacon, eggs, pancakes, etc) are good.  They also have free wifi which is nice.

I went with keri h last night, and agree with most of her review, a few additions:

Nachos = awesome.  Fresh tortilla chips is one of the best foods ever.

Other Food -- I got the veggie tacos, and they were good -- lots of different veggies sauteed.  Their fries were not terrible.  Food seemed fresh.  They need some more veg options.

Price -- Really, surprisingly cheap.  2 people ate entrees, an app, and split a side for under $25.

Menu = I really, really hope they re-print their menu.  Every "with" is misspelled "whit", and almost every description had a typo, or some problem with it.  I know that really doesnt have anything to do with the quality of the food/restaurant, but first impressions matter.    Also, as keri h mentioned, they did not have some of the items, and their response was "oh, we dont have that anymore", which i thought was a little odd, since they've only been open a few days.

Breakfast -- WP is short on places that open before 9am, and serve brekkies during the week.  So, if their breakfast rocks, that will be a good selling point for them.  If their breakfast is mediocre, I do not think they will be in business long.

Will I be back?  Probably.  It is on my way home from work, and I am kinda lazy, and cheap.

Ooooh, if you live in the neighborhood, start going here on occasion.  It doesn't look like it's doing a lot of business yet, and I'm sure I speak for many other locals who waited patiently for the place to open for a year when I say that I really hope it sticks around.

I'm not going to stop going out to brunch at any of the lovely brunchy places in the 'hood, but I'm happy to add Let's Go to the Sunday morning mix.  It's cheap (the breakfast sandwich is $5.50), there's no waiting (this place could get a lot more popular and still have space), the food is tasty (more flavorful and less greasy than I expected), and it's just a nice place to be - bright (even when it's SNOWING in APRIL), warm, inviting.

The staff was really nice.  Every one behind the counter smiled and said hi to us.  Our waitress was really attentive with the coffee (which was not great but definitely on the higher end of what you expect from a diner), and  she gave us- get this -  FREE REFILLS OF ORANGE JUICE.  I've never ever ever seen that happen.

Okay, now go forth, WP-ers, and keep this place in business!

I stopped by Lets Go Diner on a Thursday night with my sister. The diner was pretty empty when we arrived, just one other table was occupied. The waitress was greeted us right away and seated us. The menu had a decent selection of food that was very affordable, and they serve breakfast all day- you can't beat that!

I ordered the Lemon Steak wrap that came with goat cheese. It didn't come with any sides, but it was delish! My sister the chicken avocado wrap, which she enjoyed as well. We were offered salsa to garnish our wraps, which actually a nice touch. It was fresh salsa that had the right amount of kick to it!

Let's Go Diner has a nice warm/ friendly feel to it and would be somewhere I'd stop by for a quick, affordable sit down kind of meal

I have been walking past this space for a few years and it's finally open.  I had the chance to check out the breakfast food and it is what you expect from a diner.  It was good, cheap and most of all fresh.  Wicker Park needs more diner's......thank you!
Only word of advice.....work on the decor a little.......

The people that worked there were really nice but I don't think I'll be going back. My boyfriend didn't want to finish even half of his burger. I tried it and yeah, it was not awesome. It was kind of bad. The BLT I had hurt to eat but it tasted fine. The reason it hurt to eat was that the toast was as hard as a rock. I hit the table with it just to hear the sound it made. It was like it had been toasted and had  been sitting in the toaster for 20 minutes since the moment I ordered it. I hate having to say it but I left in pain and my boyfriend left still hungry and that is pretty rare for us.

MENU: Lets Go Diner opened about five days ago, and they are still working on their menu and there is quite a selection! I went during dinner and they had items listed from thai shrimp pasta to world famous chili to reubens to taco plate. Being a vegetarian there were a few items that I could eat - nachos, a veggie sandwich, several salads, yadda, yadda.

FOOD: Before my friend arrived I ordered the regular nachos. They were decent. Let Go Diner actually made their tortilla chip fresh right then! When my friend arrived we finished off the nachos and ordered our dinner. She got the veggie taco plate. I attempted to order the veggie sandwich, but they took that off the menu. Then I ordered a spinach salad, but they were out of the special dressing. So I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato. Grilled cheese was oily and I could barely finish. My friend's veggie tacos looked fab though.

SERVICE: The young woman who was serving us was very kind and attentive. She was still learning the menu and wasn't really sure what came with what. But, it's only been 5 days.

ATMOSPHERE: All very new and the tables and chairs are nice (heavy, heavy wood). All tables are circular and seat only 4 people, which may present problems in the future.

Dinner wasn't that great, and I hope in a few week they progress their menu because the WP is in need of a nice diner. Now gotta try their breakfast.

Let's Go is a solid value--very reasonable prices, lots of food, no frills.

However, there are some diner fundamentals that I think need to be worked on for me to consistently choose this place over the other comparables in the neighborhood.

For example:  hot coffee.  coffee is a diner must-have, and it must be hot!  I can deal with weak coffee, but if it's weak and lukewarm, I feel depressed.

There are other little details (decor, space usage, furniture, typos, hard-to-read signage, lack of ventilation, awkward service) that overall convey that this is run by amateurs (in the best sense of that word), not experienced restaurateurs.  It says nothing about the actual food, which is quite good, but doesn't make the customer feel 100% comfortable and confident that the meal is going to be a happy one.

That said, I'm truly rooting for these guys and hope this becomes an institution that sticks around.  will give it a couple more gos and update my review as appropriate.

Food was great for the price - nothing gourmet but definitely tasty. We had the French toast and an omelette and the portions were sizable. The decor isn't very diner-y, but I'd go back!

Let's go diner has been open for a little over a week and i have been there 3 times already. Three main features make this place a valued addition for me:

1) Huge variety of food. Everything from amazing burritos, tacos and nachos to thai shrimp pasta and very tasty breakfast.
2) Everything seems to be very healthy and fresh as far as diner food goes. The burritos are lean and very tasty
3) Prices are very low for te quality and amount of food you get. Especially in WP where the newer places are more trendy versus practical.
