6 reviews for Les Mars Hotel
When I told friends we were off to Healdsburg for a long weekend the usual question was: "oh, so where are you staying?" When I'd advise "the Les Mars Hotel, it's affiliated with Relais & Chateaux". "Relay and who?" was the usual response.
I cannot speak more highly of this collection of fine, small hotels. Started in France in the 1950s and located primarily in Europe, they can now be found scattered around the globe. To keep the Relais & Chateaux affiliation, each hotel must maintain a strict minimum of standards. As I understand, these standards are difficult to obtain and the hotels must continue to provide service standards above and beyond to avoid losing the affiliation. We have stayed previously in several of their properties in Europe and found them to be no less than excellent and this long weekend's visit to 'Les Mars' was certainly no exception.
Upon entering the room (we chose a 'Mansion' category) everything lived up to our expectations. Beautifully and expertly furnished with a canopy bed, fireplace and marble bathroom with a large Jacuzzi tub (found in most rooms), along with Bulgari toiletries. Also a wonderful touch was a couple of vases full of roses (these are grown locally by the owners of the property) and provided an even more 'personal touch' which only adds to the ambiance of Relais & Chateaux.
We had reception show us some other rooms (we're already planning ahead for a future visit!). All rooms have fireplaces. The more expensive rooms can be found on the 3rd (top) floor and they all have soaring vaulted ceilings - stunning (and a bit pricier).
Further perks included are complimentary valet parking and a wine and cheese social in the early evening held in the library off the lobby. Each morning we were served a delightful and filling continental breakfast in our room - also complimentary.
Another plus is this hotel is located adjacent to 'Cyrus', known as one of the best restaurants in Northern California. You can enter Cyrus through the hotel lobby.
It takes a great deal to impress me these days and Les Mars did not disappoint - - no doubt a rare Wine Country gem.
Beautiful property coupled with first class service... Eat at Cyrus then walk a few steps to the adjoining hotel to sleep on what may have been the most comfortable bed ever (besides my own, of course). Life is great!
This place is beautiful and sort of like a mini version of the Hotel de Crillon in Paris. The service is so attentive but the only thing is it is such a small hotel that the staff is not that abundant. The security is so great that after a certain hour in the evening, you will need your room key to gain access back to the hotel.
Their bed is sooo comfy!! Didn't want to get out of bed!!! They also have a really good breakfast in the morning and instead of tea time, they have cheese time in the afternoon! hehe!
The only thing is their rooms are quite expensive but definitely well worth it to spoil yourself for a nite!
What a fantastic hotel! The pool is a bit small, but the rooms and service make up for it. The rooms are spacious and immaculate. The General Manager is extremely kind and sweet. The Les Mars is the definition of service. They make things happen. Just ask and you shall receive...reservations, tours, you name it.
WOW!! This hotel is a gem- luxury at it's best. My husband and I were so fortunate to be able to stay here for our honeymoon and we had the hardest time leaving! The entire staff is extremely professional, friendly, and helpful. We felt extremely spoiled, from the wine tastings, the amazing turn down service, the breakfast, and just all the little touches that made it world class and by far, the most amazing hotel we've ever had the pleasure of staying at. We called the front desk to ask about the nearest movie theater, and within 5 minutes, the general manager herself (she's so nice!) delivered printed out movie times and directions to our door. It may be a splurge, but most definitely worth it!
I just returned from a stay at Les Mars to celebrate my brother's birthday, and impeccable is the only adjective that can be used to describe the decor and service. The staff was most attentive from the time the reservation was made to our departure. Helga Horner, the designer who furnished the hotel, gets an A+. Every "i" was dotted and "t" crossed, down to the level of the complimentary Bulagari shampoo and Voss water being flawlessly coordinated with the bathroom decor. The in-room breakfast service was presented on Bernadaud china with Christofle flatwear. This is the type of living I can only dream of. My brother was presented with a bottle of Roederer Champagne and slice of birthday cake to make the event more festive. Just walking down the elegant staircase and rolling into Cyrus for his birthday dinner capped the perfect weekend getaway. When you feel the need to pretend you are royalty, this is the perfect venue.
