Update time! About an hour after I posted my first review, the manager wrote me, apologizing for the bad service. Major props!
I went back to Leona's the following week with more coworkers who were also going to go see 'Urinetown' (I didn't go to the show, just to dinner since I live around the corner.) Wouldn't you know- we were seated at the exact same table! Different waitress though. MUCH better service experience, and EVERYONE loved the food. Of course, the waitress accidentally (I think...) spilled a glass of wine right next to me, but she was super apologetic and cleaned it up right away. Overall, wine-spilling aside, it was a great experience!1 Previous Review: Show all »

The manager, Brandon, is a complete gentleman and sweetheart. My spouse and I always feel welcomed; such warm and personal attention makes us keep coming back! There is a particular dish that me and my spouse truly loved and they removed it from the menu! Brandon came over to check up on us and we shared with him our disappointment. He promised that the next time we came in that he would be more than happy to have the chef make the dish for us!!
Sure enough, our very next visit he came right over to greet us!! Took our drink order and was sure to tell the chef our special request.
A true and absolute delight!! Not only did he make our drinks personally, he made sure that our dining experience was most pleasurable. Our waitress served our entree with such enthusiasm and was very attentive. So we surely feel the love every time we visit Leona's.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Yay! I'm a fan. Whether it's take-out or dine-in, Leona's hits the spot. Well, actually I prefer their take-out, mostly because of my obsession with eating pizza while watching entire seasons of Weeds on Netflix.
Their pizza is Chees-say and thick. Veggies and meat toppers are fresh and flavorful. Just thinking of it now makes me want to place a pick-up order. Their pizza prices are up there but it's worth every bit and reasonable if you order every once in a while.
Parking on Madison is not too tricky, because they're located east of the downtown Forest Park area.
Their desserts are just a-ok -- at least the one I tried, the Leona cake that came with the meal. Otherwise, pizza pizza pizza is what they specialize in. Sandwiches and salads are great as well and massive in size. -

Good food. Pretty Good Service. I would have preferred maybe a tad bit more salt but that's just me. It was still good.

Definitely wasn't impressed by this place. To be fair, the delivery was prompt, but I'd say that the positives end there. The pizza was just not good - cardboard crust and subpar sauce and cheese. I felt that my money would have been better spent ordering Domino's or Pizza Hut, because those aren't good but are at least cheaper and you know what you're getting yourself into! Not the worst pizza I've ever had, but I definitely will not be ordering from here again. It seems that some people like it, but I guess it's just not my style.

I eat at Leona's every so often and I never been dissatisfied. My last visit I had the romano chicken with the lasagna, and my wife had the chicken parmesan, and we enjoyed everything. My kids had the cheese pizza, and icecream came with it for 5 bucks, that's pretty cheap! I also like the mini cake that comes with the meal, the waitress was very friendly and on point. The atmosphere was nice and comfortable. Leona's always meets my expectations, its a cool neighborhood restaurant.

The atmosphere is nice and quiet and the food has always been delicious when Ive dined here. Sometimes the service is a bit slow but they always make up for it with extras and nice manners. plus it is sometimes good to have these pauses in life to have a good conversation with a friend.

We went here to meet some special friends on a rainy Monday night. The place was pretty empty which helped us because we had 2 toddlers with us. The waitress was nice and patient with us. The boys were running around and they tolerated it to a point.
The only thing that was a problem was our friends ordered a pizza WITHOUT onions and the cook made it with and so they had to make a new one which meant more time to entertain 2 toddlers!!! the waitress was apologetic though!
I might go back...or not! -

This is too bad - we live so close to this place. I have to concur with Tim L. We've gone several times and the order has been wrong. When we dined in, it was the s.l.o.w.e.s.t. service I've experienced in a place like that. They were always nice and willing to give us compensation for the inconvenience, for example, when we went with our 2 year old and we waited...for 20 minutes for anyone to even come bring us menus! But how many gift cards can you get before it's just not worth it? I'd be willing to go back if there wad a change. But I'd have to get reassurance.

I've never actually dined in at Leona's, only ordered delivery. However, it's my favorite pizza in Oak Park! They do a good job on their menu of noting the food that really doesn't deliver well (mozzeralla sticks, calamari, pretty much all fried food) so if it arrives lukewarm/soggy it's not entirely their fault.
The secret to good delivery from Leona's: Tip well!! Seriously people, they remember you if you tip well. The delivery guy knows me by name, knows the code to my apartment door and knows exactly how much change to have ready for me. The guy who takes the orders asks how my visitors are doing (I pretty much only order when I have company coming in, they quantities are pretty huge) and throws in Lenacakes for free. AND they are becoming quicker and quicker with the delivery time each time I order. Used to be 50 minutes, now they have it down to a quick 25.
Only downside is they don't have peppers as a topping for pizza. In fact, when I asked for some, they seemed confused and sent me a carrot/onion/jalepeno slaw-type dish. Needless to say, that did NOT go on my pizza!
In short, delivery is good, especially if you're craving pizza. -

The highlight of my meal here was definitely the service. Lickity split despite it being packed on Mother's Day afternoon. La Shawda the waitress was fabulous.
The atmosphere confused and disappointed me. It's suppose to be an italian restaurant, right? It feels more like a sports bar. Music videos playing on all the TVs. Many, many TVs. Tacky flower wallpaper. Vinyl booths. The kind that stick to skin on a hot day.
The food was okay. Just what we were both craving on a slightly hungover Sunday. Something heavy. Really heavy. Fettucini alfredo for two please. There was a scoop of garlic butter in the middle of the dish that puzzled me a bit. I scooped it off and set it aside. Do we really need to add more fat to this dish? The pasta comes with a salad and bread. LOTS of food for the price. We brought home a substantial amount of leftovers.
Good, but not great.
Linner for two, $40.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Food? Acceptable to good - I'm a fan of the Kickass Garlic Bread as well as the Chicken Strips A La Adult. Good stuff.
Service? Horrible. Slow delivery, slow for dine-in, slow, slow, slow - and rude ordertakers.
But I won't go back to this Leona's, or any, because I was a victim of identity theft at this location. Someone lifted my credit card number from a phone order here and proceeded to charge over $1000 on my account. The manager never followed up with me on the matter, even though my credit card statements show it clear as day.
Stay far, far away. -

I discovered Leona's in Wicker Park some fifteen plus years ago. The food was always plentiful and reasonably priced. The atmosphere used to have throwback jazz, Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Big Band and the drinks were very good. Oak Park used to have a sports bar area with plenty of televisions for the games and tables for pool. The best of both worlds for a guy who wants to eat good food and watch the games. Over the years some things have changed, the food is hit and miss at times and so is the service. Like Tim L. I am a long time customer who has taken some time away and come back with some great memories and sad ones.
The menu has been upgraded with a few nice lunch additions, The atmosphere is always family friendly. I have dined at nearly every one of Leona's locations and tried everything on the menu. The food is usually very good and Leona"s is in my blood. The service could be more consistent for such a "Great" Family friendly restaurant.
I would recommend giving them a try! -

Great place to sit and actually converse. Best wraps I have ate in my life. Free refills and a nice wait staff.

My family and I order from here a lot. I absolutely love the make your own burger option in which I order a well done burger with cheese and avocado. The ribs are to die for. The pasta is great as well. Everything I've had here has had a lot of flavor and is very fresh. Your meal comes with small lena cakes which are chocolate cake with a cheesecake topping, you don't even have to buy dessert! But if you do, all of the desserts are excellent as well. I especially like the turtle cheesecake.

This place is a lot more than just a 'pizza' place. Yes, the pizza is not too shabby, but I like the food, too! They have great wraps and I love their muffins. The prices are a bit steep, but try out a burger and wings and you wont' be set back a pretty penny. The service was kind of a miss, but I usually get delivery from here and that is much faster and less rude. This is my favorite Leona's location. The parking can be a bit tricky as it is on the street or across Madison, but I do not mind that badly.

Like some of the other reviewers I've been to multiple Leona's locations. We always went for the above average consistent food quality, good service and convenience. So last Sunday when we spied a Leona's in Oak Park during our afternoon travels we decided to stop for a bite.
Being a creature of routine, I typically get the romano chicken mushroom sandwich. It's good, huge and just darn tasty. But since we have been on the hunt for the perfect thin crust pizza we decide to order a small cheese pizza just for fun.
Before I get to the food, I must remark on the service. We were seated quickly and our waitress was super attentive and helpful. I grilled her on the pizza because we've just been so disappointed lately by everything we've tried (including one we cooked ourselves at home with a Trader Joe's pre-made dough, but that's a whole other story).
So I asked if theirs was thin and crispy. She said it was thin and kinda crispy. Which immediately worried me. But she assured me that their pizza was delicious and that we wouldn't be disappointed. So we through caution to the wind, and ordered a small cheese pizza along with our sandwiches.
We got our sandwiches first, which she warned us would happen. Although I still liked my sandwich it wasn't as big as it has been in the past. On this occasion, it was ok since we also ordered the pizza, but it definitely was about half the size that I was accustomed to.
My partner ordered the veggie burger which she normally loved, but sadly this too disappointed. Didn't have the same flavor as they did when ordered at the Hyde Park or Irving Park location just several months ago. Perhaps they changed vendors or recipes.
But the crowing glory of the afternoon was the pizza. Seriously, we were blown away by a CRISPY crust, nicely spiced tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese. We scarfed the whole thing down pretty quickly. Frankly, we wished we ordered a larger one, so we could take the rest home.
Verdict: We'll definitely be back for the pizza. I'll give them another chance on the rest of the menu. They've always been great in the past - so there's no reason to think things won't get better. -

Alright folks, Here is the deal with the Leona's in OP. The portions are huge, the prices are fair, but the food quality is hit or miss.
If you're looking to play it safe, stick with the Pizza. It's delicious.
I've had the salmon and catfish....good and bad experiences with both.
Overall its not a bad choice. Enjoy! -

So me and one of my closest friends go to this Leona's almost every Thursday or Friday and we simply enjoy the food and the service!!
Not only is it always fresh and hot when we get it but our server, Cornelius, always has a smile on his face when delivering it....simply the best!! When you go there on a Thursday-Sunday, always ask for Corneilus--he is the best server in the house...you'll definitely leave with a smile :) -

I've been to a number of Leona's locations, but this is my neighborhood Leona's so I'll give it a review. We order Leona's delivery every so often and we are always completely satisfied. The veggies in the salads, sides and wraps are so fresh and crisp every time. My favorites are the Chicken Club Wrap (made with lots of delicious homemade ranch dressing) and the Meatball Sub (their meatballs have SO much flavor). My fiance always orders one of their Romano Chicken Sandwiches. He loves them. The food may be a little more pricey than average delivery, but the portions are HUGE. We always have leftovers. Most dishes come with 2 sides and a dessert. My only complaint is that there are very few healthy options on the menu. Most things are loaded with fat and calories. I do have to say, the psychedelic salad with their house Italian dressing is one healthy choice that I order as my side every time and as an entree when I want to eat well. It is very fresh and tasty.
Give Leona's delivery a try! -

I used to go to this location a lot in 98/99 and the food was much better. Leona's needs to stop messing with their menu and changing things for the worse. What happened to the Ravioli Due choice? What did you do to the wonderful chicken soup? Everything is greasy, uninspired and over-priced. Plus, for some reason, this location attracts the wackos. We were seated next to a man who seemed homeless - kept shouting and drinking beer after beer and then tried to pay with all coins. That poor waitress.

We usually order pizza for delivery from here. They've got a good thin crust. We've not really had any issues. The first time I dined in I wasn't impressed, but we went there last night and the staff was friendly and the food was fine. We wanted to watch the Bears game and the staff changed two TV's for us and turned up the sound so we could listen and not just watch.. It's not fine dining, but it's good for just an evening out of the house and a few drinks.

Some of the best pizza in Oak Park. Leona's has a nice atmosphere, with dim lighting for an initmate setting in the main dining area. However, they also have a fun bar area, and a large screen TV in the back of the resturant for sports fans. Very good pizza, made to order with a variety of ingrediants. Burgers and pasta are good too. The "Kick Ass Garlic Bread" lives up to it's name, and defines the irreverant attitude of the menu.

Went here last week with my girl and was not impressed at all. We were seated diagonally from a group of ladies who talked incredibly loud. I could hear their conversations and 1 of the ladies had a really squeaky voice. She sounded like she was 7 yrs old but looked 30! It was driving me crazy! Anyways, about the restaurant, i ordered the pick 2 types of lasagna entree and they ran out of 1 of the lasagnas i wanted. Then they were all out of the french dressing i wanted 4 my salad. What the hell!? Why are you out of these things and you're a damn restaurant!? I feel like you should have whatever you say you have on your menu! Is that too much 2 ask for? The service was standard, nothing extra. After we got our food, I wasn't that impressed with the taste. It was edible but i felt like the lasagnas lacked any flavor. However, i was really hungry so i ate it anyway. Definitely not a place i would go back to!

If you're looking for a fine dining experience, skip this place. Not that it's bad but it's a chain restaurant. The kids like it and portion sizes are generous. For the money, not a bad place.
