TINA is great. I've gotten both highlights and a cut with her and both came out great.

The first time I came in for highlights, I had just gotten my haircut elsewhere...and really wasn't feelin' it. The other salon had kind of left me with a bowl cut. You know...you put a bowl on a guy's head and just cut? Yeah. So I then came to Leonard Golino for highlights and the first thing Tina says is, "Can I fix this back here for you? It's bothering me." YES! PLLEEASE FIX AWAY! I didn't even ask her, she just offered herself 'cause she's nice like that. Although the damage had already been done, she was able to thin it out back there a bit. So she definitely made it a little more manageable.

And then the highlights came out great.

The 2nd time I came here was for a cut, since she had done such a great job saving my crappy cut the other time. I used to have a funky doo, high in the back, long in the front...that has since grown out. I hadn't had a haircut forrrrr 7 MONTHS before coming back to Tina. I was trying to grow it out. Growing out a funky haircut doesn't always look the prettiest. It was shaggy and uneven and blech. Tina fixed it right up and make it sleek and even and therefore much easier to continue to grow out. And it's so easy to manage too! Very stylish, sheik. She's a great stylist.

The salon itself is small and tucked in between bigger stores. You would miss it if you weren't looking for it. I've never had to wait longer than a few minutes, everyone's very friendly and water, coffee and wine are offered to clients while they get their services. Mmmmm booze. Oh, and awesome 2 minute scalp massage included in hair wash. Nice.

Leonard Golino is the best colorist I have been to.  He is an amazing hair stylist.  Leonard's wit and charisma only add to the positive experience at this salon.  Two thumbs up!!!!

Definitely recommended.  My stylist Tina is skilled, friendly, listens to what I want to do with my hair, and gives me great advice.  She takes her time to make my cut, color, and styling perfect.  The salon is a little pricey without offering some of the perks you can get at other expensive places (shoulder massages, chichi waiting rooms) but it frequently offers discounts, bringing the cost down significantly.  Another plus: availability with the senior stylists is fairly open.

If you check out this place on citysearch, there is somewhere in the range of 50 fanatic reviews.

Which meant that when I needed a haircut for the first time in NYC, I went here.

It was good. I was a first timer so I got a discount. My hair looked nice. She was friendly enough. But was it worth the high price? Not really. I've had haircuts for $40 that were just as good.

Great place. Loved it. They're friendly and nice, yet sassy. They do great work for the price. I recommend this place.

I was chatting with this woman in a bar who had basically a flawless (in a gorgeously tousled way) haircut.  She said she had been going to this place for years so I made an appointment the next day. I anxiously awaited the next two weeks preparing to get about a foot of hair lopped off.
The day of my appointment I ended up having to wait for an hour and 45 minutes, while my stylist generally flitted about chatting with co workers and her friend who's hair she was cutting.  When she finally got around to me she was more interested in discussing my outfit than what I wanted to do with my hair.  Instead of getting a kind of choppy rock and roll type shag I ended up looking like a soccer mom.

Two months later I'm still anxiously waiting for it to grow out.

I trust no one with my hair.  Too many traumatic experiences to count.  After much research, I decided to give Leonard Golino salon a try, and it was a good choice.

Not as hip as the place I used to go to on Newbury Street in Boston, but if you go on a Monday or Tuesday and see a junior stylist it's 40% off, so I only paid about $50 for my haircut.  Not bad, considering how well she did!  Ask for Michelle on a Mon or Tues and you will be pleased.  Free bang trims, too.

I liked my stylist just didn't feel that my haircut was worth the price I paid for. It wasn't anything too special, it didn't look any different and grew out within 2 -3 weeks.

last year, as i was on my quest to find my forever hair person, i checked this place out because i was in the neighborhood. went once, had my hair cut by Calli, and it was fine so i went again for color. Calli and i discussed exactly what i was going for -- she said it would be "chocolate brown", so when all was said and done i was shocked to look in the mirror and see bright red. ??? i was so shocked i could barely speak but managed to squeak out my surprise and disappointment and she basically just shrugged, telling me it looked good (she had been telling her assistant they should hurry so she could get home in time for "medium"). i called the next day and they said i could come in and see someone else but the whole thing felt bad and awkward so i went to space salon where they fixed the color. one star for the very friendly and sweet person who made my appointment.

I have been going to Lenny to get my hair cut for almost 5 years now.  I have tried many many nice salons before him and am so happy I finally found someone I can trust with my hair.  Lenny always gives me a fabulous hair cut.  My hair is very straight and hard to manage.  Lenny makes it look stylish and at the same time it's so easy to care on my own.  Lenny is meticulous about the details and makes sure every time the hair is perfect.  You can really tell he's been doing this for a long time and really knows hair.  He's so friendly and such a sweet guy.  In fact, my husband, our good friends all go see Lenny.

This is the best salon in NY! It took me 2 years to find any place I would even return to - but this is it! i honestly look forward to my cuts with yuval. they give you free wine here and everyone from the receptionist, to the shampoo girl, to the stylist, to the owner are SUPER-friendly. it's like going to a party and coming out looking absolutely fabulous. no joke - people stop me on the street to tell me how great my cut looks for a few weeks after i get it done. and they do what you want but make suggestions on improvements - and, best of all, show you how to recreate it at home. they take a genuine interest in you and your hair! the price has been going up since i've been going (around $85 now), but it's worth it for how great i feel and look.

Quite simply, no other haircut I've gotten compares to the one I get from Len.

Over the years, I'd been to a dozen different places looking for a haircut I liked with no satisfaction. Len's cut is stylish, professional, and more flattering than any other cut I've had.

The salon itself has a very nice atmosphere. The people are laid back, friendly, and helpful. I actually enjoy going, whereas with most places it felt more like a trip to the dentist.

Overall, I would give the salon my highest recommendation.

I found this salon through citysearch and yelp, and after reading a lot of good reviews i gave it a chance (especially after hearing about the first time customer discount.) i made an appointment with michelle, and they called a few hours before my appointment to ask if i could push it back by a half an hour, which was fine. i still had to wait for a little while when i got there. the experience wasn't that great, she was talking to the shampoo girl the entire time about some office party, and was being sort of rough with me and pulling my hair back with the brush so hard that my neck was straining a lot. though they didn't pay much attention to me, the haircut was still turning out great so i didn't mind - i'm not the type that needs to be fussed over. the haircut looked great initially, BUT it's not growing in well at ALL. even if it was cheaper, i wouldn't go back here. maybe she was just having an off day, but i'm not willing to find out.
