We love Lena Medoyeff! They are friendly, complementary, and they know their craft.
Before we got married, and on a whim, we stopped into look at (and ultimately buy on that very the same day) their wedding dresses. All all I can say of their dresses is that they are original, different, and beautiful!
As we live in the neighborhood, we often run into the ladies on their way to or from work and they always take the time to say hello. We truly enjoyed our first (but not last) experience with them. This last weekend, we returned to buy a new dress and wound up walking out with three of them.
This is a wonderful store, with wonderful people and amazing products! Thank you ladies! -

Where do I start? The dresses? The girls? This whole bridal boutique is perfect.
Lena was the first place I went to try on dresses. I knew I wanted a dupioni silk dress but I came in with a VERY specific and unique idea of what I was looking for. When I started trying the dresses on, my whole idea flew away and this was not a bad thing! I fell in love with two (very unique, very ME) dresses that day. I went in twice after that to try the two on again and again.
From the beginning Lena felt good. The sales girls aren't pretentious, the shop has a casual atmosphere and the environment is fun! Andrea has helped me work through what I wanted in my wedding dress. She listened to what I told her I liked and didn't like and she chose dresses for me to try on that were flattering or were closest to what I was looking for. Each time I have been in, all of the girls I have met remember me and I have fun talking to them. I mean, these girls have seen most of me lots of times at this point, we have done some TALKING! This is service that is difficult to find in ANY boutique, let alone a bridal shop.
Just so you know, I did go to other bridal shops in Portland but nothing matched the customer service, sustainable practices, quality of silk or the beauty of these dresses. This was the first place I went and the only place I ever needed to go.
I will be wearing an Amber Lee with a red velvet ceremony sash at my wedding next summer and I am going to look and feel AMAZING wearing it! This is all thanks to the ladies of Lena on 23rd... -

So I saw the reviews online and I checked out the website but I needed to see what they had in person. I am plus sized (size 16-18) and busty so I didn't think anything would fit me, but I thought I would check out some dresses and see if they were alterable to my size. As soon as I walked in I was greeted very nicely by two ladies. The first thing I asked was do they have clothing in my size for a wedding dress.
One of the girls asked me if I was willing to try anything on even if it looked unimpressive on the hanger. She also asked me to take my coat off so she could see my shape. She immediately advised against a structured bust because it wouldn't be supportive enough without boning sewn in for my ample bust.
She picked out a dress indicating that she thought it would be beautiful on me and asked me to try it on. So I tried it on. BEST DRESS EVER. I came out of the dressing room and she tied it in a very flattering way to compliment my shape. BTW I am also pregnant and will be during my ceremony. She gave me all kinds of suggestions on how to wear the dress, what sash to buy, how to tie the sash, what undergarments to get, I mean EVERYTHING.
I bought the dress on the spot. They didn't have the color I needed so she put in a rush order for me and I should get it in plenty of time for my wedding. She also suggested that after my wedding I have the dress dyed so I can wear it again for special occasions. I can't say enough about how great the service is and how beautiful the merchadise is. Lena is a genius!
If you want a very beautiful, unique, modern dress I highly suggest skipping the big bridal stores and going straight to Lena Medoyeff! -

Just stopped in to look at bridesmaid dresses and the girls were so nice! Very friendly, helpful and just fun. I had a blast and will probably end up getting my rehearsal dinner dress there.

I stopped into this store today with a friend to try on wedding dresses. I'm not into the wanna be "Say Yes to the Dress" type stores, so the fact that Andrea and Kelley, the two sales women, were so friendly and helpful only added to the dress trying-on experience. I tried on 8 different dresses and was there for almost two hours. The dresses are so well made and so beautiful and unique, especially if you're not looking for a Wedding Barbie kind of dress. I haven't decided on "the"dress yet, but this shop is definitely in the top two. Regardless of where I end up buying my wedding dress, this store was amazing and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and not stressful wedding dress shopping experience.

My friend found a BEAUTIFUL dress here- loved their style. She found a simple cowl-neck, sleeveless lace number that really suited her figure and she said it was really comfortable. Really appreciate their emphasis on non-child-labor materials as well. However, the salespeople are a bit pushy.

Wonderful store. My husband and I stopped in before we were even engaged because we wanted to see what they had, and were treated well right from the start. They even let me try dresses on right then!
I fell in love with a beautiful, simple, yet elegant dress that day. After were were engaged, I looked around at some other shops, but never found anything that I liked. They all seemed over the top, uncomfortable, expensive (especially for the poor quality), etc.
After purchasing my dress from Lena, I went back to the store multiple times to try it on for friends. The ladies who work there have always been absolutely wonderful to both me and my husband.
I love this store and will purchase more every-day dresses from them as soon as my budget allows for it! -

If you feel out of place at other bridal shops and department stores, hie thee to Lena Medoyeff and exult!
I was very frustrated by my search for a dress that is elegant and unique but also simple and practical enough for an outdoor summer wedding. Most of what I had encountered was over-the-top and meringue. Everyone wants to look beautiful on their wedding day, but I'd rather not feel like I belong on the top of the cake.
Needless to say, I arrived at Lena Medoyeff feeling a little deflated after striking out at two other bridal stores that day, but the sale associate, Amber, is fantastic and immediately makes you feel at ease. She also has a great eye for what will look good on your figure and with your skin tone. My only issue was deciding between four equally gorgeous dresses! Most of the dresses can be paired with beautiful sashes that come in an array of colors.
Another plus is that the fabric is all fair trade and purchased directly from the mill (which designs it specifically for Lena Medoyeff), and Lena produces the dresses in small quantities. Shopping local does have its rewards, and you'll definitely reap them in abundance at Lena Medoyeff. -

Oh, the stress of being a bride.....let's just say that the least appealing task on my list of wedding to-do's was going into a bridal store to be bathed in large white dresses pinned and held tight by a sales clerk in an attempt to mimic what the altered final dress might look like. Then the idea that you might find something you liked and it would cost a veritable arm and a leg-ICK. Not fun.
Erase all those thoughts and make Lena Medoyeff your first, and likely only stop. Enter the front door, and Amber cheerfully says hello and allows you to browse the racks at your leisure. Ask a question and she will confidently answer any fabric, sizing or accessorizing dilemmas. See something you'd like to try? Get in the fitting room, come on out and allow Amber to sash you...the full range of sizes provide a much more realistic picture of what your wedding day will look like.
And it's not just the in-store service. Lena M works directly with the fabric producers in India and employs local seamstresses. Again, allow yourself to shop local and you won't regret it. -

I can not rave about all of the helpful sales girls at Lena Modoyeff enough. My mother needed a dress for my wedding in August and this was the first(of many) places that she went. We were very upfront that we would not be trying on a dress that first day and they didn't even care. Each and every girl there was happy to help us and answer any questions that we had.
Fast forward to a few weeks later...and many other dress shops later...
Back to Lena to purchase the dress. This was after we had stopped in again to just "peek" at the dress and the fabric swatches a few more times. Again, no pressure, just help. Not only are the designs beautiful, but the fabrics are exquisite (free trade silk). In a world of over-the-top taffeta Mother of the Bride creations, I'm glad that there is a store like Lena's to find a beautiful classic piece to wear to a wedding that you can wear again and again. -

I like being engaged. You get to go into flower, jewelery, food and bridal stores with that limit-less feeling that you had back when you were shopping for Mr. Right- Could this be the one?
I had that feeling when I entered Lena Medoyeff's Bridal studio, directly across from her actual atelier on NW 23rd.
The dresses were very chic, and the collection was varied, lots of different lengths, styles, and really beautiful fabric. All this, and in a very casually sophisticated setting, where I didn't feel shy in my leggings and icky post gym hair.
Who knows this lady could be the bridal gown designing woman of my dreams. I didn't have enough time ( or my girls with me) to try anything on, however, I will certainly be back. -

Local shop? Check.
Fair-trade fabric? Check.
Well-merchandised boutique? Check.
Will take walk-in brides? Check.
My friend (the bride) and I walked into the shop and was warmly greeted by Lena herself. She is super nice and helpful, and was humble about her creations and the way she obtains it.
My friend didn't find what she was looking for there, but if hubby and I ever do a Wedding Redux, I will stop by Lena's first. -

It's true. The ladies at Lena-- especially at the bridal shop-- are wonderful and amazing. I found a gorgeous, vintage-style, silk gown there... in fact, I found THREE gorgeous dresses that I would have been excited to wear... but I'm not from Portland, so that would have been tricky.
I did, however, purchase a lovely bridesmaid gown from Lena last year, for my best friend's wedding.
I never knew that a sash could do such incredible things. Simply beautiful dresses. -

After having a less than pleasant experience with J. Crew's bridal department (yes, they have one), I happened to randomly come across this lovely little shop. The sales girls were lovely, honest, and very accommodating. After choosing a dress that was a couple hundred dollars out of my price range, I decided to go back the next day to look at it again to make sure it was really what I wanted. To my surprise, they were having a sample sale and I was able to find a beautiful dress, very much within my budget, that had everything I wanted in a wedding dress. My favorite part of the whole experience was that everyone was so nice and laid back and didn't judge me for going in wearing my gym clothes or for being on such a tight budget! This warm and welcoming little boutique is a must-see if your in the market for a wedding or special occasion dress!

I've been wearing clothes made by this designer for as long as I can remember and again, today, I was so very happy to stop by her store with a very special mission: to find a dress to wear to my brother's wedding. Not only did I find a dress - but I found the perfect dress! It is flattering, fits, is totally comfortable, doesn't even require ironing, and is made with all the ethics you can want. I received 0% pressure and 100% help from her lovely saleswomen. They let me take my time, try on things that weren't necessarily even in the running just to see how they would look, and go back to that perfect dress a couple more times just to be sure. Perfect.
