Excellent food... unfortunately the company went under.
NO LONGER IN BUSINESS
I stumbled upon this place recently while on a business trip and was very pleased. This is not the kind of place that I would typically eat at while alone but it turned out just fine. The restaurant is fairly large and the crowd wasn't very big (it was a Monday) so I didn't feel like I stuck out. Also, it looked like most of the tables are booths with a high back so you'll get privacy just about anywhere you sit. This could also be good for an intimate date.
OK, now on to the food. I wasn't very hungry so I just shoes a few small things. The appetizers all looked good (especially the golden tofu but I opted for the soup instead. The small Tom Kha Gai (Chicken soup with coconut milk) was a wonderful way to start my meal. The large chunks of chicken were cooked well and were tender unlike the occasional chewy chicken that you find in many soups. Next on the dinner menu was the Thai BBQ Pork which is marinated overnight in coconut milk and spices, grilled and served with a delicious, sweet soy sauce. Along with the pork came a ball of sticky rice and a side of shredded cabbage. The cabbage was pretty tasty, topped off with some of the sweet soy sauce.
I was also impressed by their attention to detail in everything from the folding of the napkin to the garnish topping my soup and the packaging of the sticky rice in delicately opened tin foil ball.
The next time I'm in SLC I'll be sure to make a point to eat here again.
Wow, what a pleasant surprise. We weren't expecting much, as this was a completely random choice for dinner while stopping in Salt Lake City during a road trip. But this turned out to be really good Thai cuisine. We had the calamari, panang curry, and flat noodles with beef. I should also note that the classic "Thai iced coffee" drink that you find in all Thai restaurants was the best either Julia or I have tasted. The ambiance was somewhat classy without being pretentious and we actually had a nice little romantic time. The staff was very friendly and prompt. Unfortunately there were not many others in the restaurant. Was this because it was 5 PM on a Sunday in Utah?
A surprisingly effective conversion of what seems to have been a very posh steakhouse (dark wood, rich white tablecloths, etc.), this is home of the best Thom Kha I've ever had, and it is delightfully consistent -- I've been perhaps 5 times since they opened about 6 years ago. The Thai staff is decent and friendly, though the few roundeyes I've encountered once or twice have felt a little bewildered and lost (though I'm not sure these individuals would have been much less confused in any other restaurant, and I never saw them again).
Totally boring and mediocre food for the most part, typical Americanized Thai fare, nothing different, new, or extraordinary about it. Has an okay ambiance, and they serve a mean peanut sauce with their rice chips. But it is no wonder why the restaurant is so empty all of the goddamn time. The food is not executed as well as many of the other places that offer the same selections. But the restaurant is clean, and I do enjoyo the tempura-fried bananas for dessert with honey. YUMM!!! Also there are good lunch special offerings with affordable prices. My biggest complaint is that the green tea ice cream they serve is merely dyed green, it has no green tea in it.
A wee bit pricey for the locale. Holy moly, there are already three (3) reviews for this place.
The restaurant is well decorated. food is better than i expected. tom yum goong soup was a little bit sweet for me.
Food is great. Favorite foods are Masaman Curry, Calamari, and the Tom Kha Gai soup. The mango sticky rice is great for dessert. This is a popular dinner spot for me and my husband. The service is good and quick with a nice quiet atmosphere.
Decent food, but a romantic setting. I believe it is a converted steak house.
