I love Legends. Its a great little place to have a casual or fancy dinner. Their Thai Sausage and Shrimp in Wonton saucers are awesome. I dream about them! Their New Orleans Baked Clams are also really good. The entrees that stand out are the Egyptian Shrimp, the seasonal Modo Mia Pasta and the panko crusted chicken. Their berry napolean is phenomenal and I love when it's back on the dessert menu.
They also have a hot drink, that might be seasonal, that has coffee, peppermint baileys and a peppermint patty on it. It's to die for!
They service is always attentive and helpful. And something you don't see at a lot of restaurants is that they are generous with the bread basket! -

Food was decent but service, although started out ok, ended up very disappointing. I went there for lunch with 3 friends. Ordered 1 beer. Drank about 3/4s before I noticed dishwasher residue (basically small bits of food) stuck to and floating around the bottom of my glass. I wasn't angry - just grossed out, I've worked in plenty of restaurants and know those things happen - I also know what dishwasher residue looks like.
The waitress apologized and said she would get her manager to take the beer off the bill. About 10 minutes later she came over and asked if we were in a rush. She was having a hard time finding the manager. By this time we were all done eating and ready to go but said we didn't mind waiting a few minutes. Another 15 minutes passed, and the waitress walked by our table, place a full beer in front of me, and walked away. Huh? No acknowledgement, no explanation. Normally a new beer would have been fine, but in this instance we'd been waiting, ready to go, for 20 minutes, and now I'm expected to make my friends wait while a drink a pint? Or chug it? I don't think so. The weirdest part was we couldn't get our waitress to look at us to ask for our bill. We had to actually get up and get her.
When I asked what happened to taking the beer off the tab, she said the manager said no, and to just give me a new beer. At this point I was annoyed and told her we had just patiently waited for 20 minutes, and could we speak to the manager. She said yes, and walked away, but it was obvious she was not headed to get the manager.
In the end, we lost our patience, paid the full bill and left - untouched new beer on the table, and annoyed that our great day had been tarnished. We spent over $100 and they couldn't take a $6 beer off the tab? Oh and I didn't even mention the dead fruit fly I found in my salad. -

We had the pepperoni pizza and stuffed clams. Both dishes were delicious. The bar area is big and the service was great. I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere.
I am looking forward to going back next time I am in New Suffolk. -

I've never sat in the restaurant section here but the bar is a great sports bar with a top notch beer selection, both on tap and in bottles.
The food here is very good, the New Suffolk Clam Chowder is based on the Manhattan model, tomato based, but with the addition of crab-meat and a bit of spice.
Last time out I had the Blackend Catfish Sandwich with sweet potato fries on the side. The fish was light and flaky, but I should have gotten some hot sauce with it instead of the cocktail sauce for which I opted.
There are TVs everywhere and they had no problem putting the Georgetown-U-Conn game on (my Hoyas won in an exciting nail-biter). Unfortunately they don't have an HD signal to any of them, which results in a craptacular picture on the larger screens.Listed in: Beer Here

Even though I'm the least qualified in my rather large family to do this, I just felt that it was necessary to Yelp this place.
Why? Because it's the hottest place in New Suffolk!!!!
OK, maybe it's the only one. BUT..... it's a friendly bar and restaurant up the street. There is a remarkably large tequila selection there and I wish I could tell you more about the place, but I defer to my previous point.
Seriously, I've been here a few times for drinks (and I'm not sure why as there's never a shortage of beverages at relatives), and we always have a chill time there. The bartenders are friendly and the crowd is a diverse collection of whomever happens to be on the North Fork.
Somehow, in all my years going out to New Suffolk I've never eaten there, but I hear the food's good too. -

Meet for drinks but move on for dinner.
I been to Legends maybe 3/4 times over the past few years. As a former local now living in Boston for many years Legends has occassionally filled the "where to meet" gap that exists on the North Fork, especially in winter or otherwise non eventful mid week evening.
I'm yelping now based on recent visit over the 2010 holiday season, the first for which we chose to order off the dinner menu and had not just come for drinks.
We opted for one of the nicer window seat in the dining area not far from the bar. At first glance the menu appears to be quite ambitious. At a second glance it's audacious with most entrees well above the $30 range sourced with lackluster ingredients. While the grilled sea bass did look tempting I thought better of myself after counting the 27 tv's that surrounded the dining/bar area. The restaurant clearly had an identity crisis but I did not.
Further engagement with our waitress leads me to believe that there is a real lack in leadeship in this establishment. Simple questions about the beers on tap were met with "i don't know" responses. The origins of ingredients were unknown. To avoid being taken for a fool I just asked for a bar menu--$10 for a hamburger seemed just about right. Appetizers sufficed for the other diners. The food was nothing special but it got us through the night. It wasn't the best burger. The$9 soup order by a friend garnered no raves. "Do as the locals do" should be the motto for this one--you won't find them eating here. -

I did not even know that New Suffolk existed let alone Legends. My parents had been there once before and it had obviously left an impression because they wanted to go there again, and my father's famous line is "Never go to a place twice, you might miss something somewhere else" So I knew Legends must be something special. We arrived and were seated promptly, although the dining area was packed!
Let's start with the food: We weren't starving, so we skipped out on appetizers although they give you a nice, warm bread basket to begin with. I can remember three of the four entrees that were ordered : Pork Chops, SwordFish Steak, and 1/2 of 1 1/2 pound lobster stuffed with lemon grass, crab meat stuffing. I was a little thrown off by the prices at first, they were a tad pricey for the area, more reminiscent of South Fork prices. When the food came, I was not disappointed, everyone's portions were HUGE and looked beautiful! I was the lucky recipient of the 1/2 1 1/2 pound stuffed lobster and it was delicious!!!! The portion was huge, the stuffing was to die for and the assortment of chopped, mixed summer vegetables paired nicely with the dish. The porkchops were huge, and the breading was delicious, cooked perfectly. The one entree that stands out in my mind is the swordfish steak. It was served with the bone and looked absolutely beautiful! The portion was HUGE and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I was definitely jealous that I could not sneak more than one bite about that.
For dessert we ordered a Tempura Banana split sundae, and an apple crisp. THe waitress told us that the $12 banana split was big enough for three and we should not order more than one, so we listened to her. It was HUGE and delicious - the bananas were cooked perfectly. The way it was served was beautiful as well. The presentation with all the food at this place was really something out of a culinary school.
For four people, with entrees, dessert and a few drinks was $165, not bad considering, but if everyone had a drink, and you throw appetizers on that it can add up.
As for service, eh it was a little slow. THe waitress was GREAT and extremely pleasant, funny, and accommodating, but she was very busy with the packed dining room. I will definitely be back to Legends! :) -

Legends is absolutely fantastic, a bit on the pricey side, but 100% worth the cost. The menu is diverse and the food is delicious. Legends' tuna sashimi is by far my favorite appetizer to order.

Worth the drive to New Suffolk.
One note when your driving there, when you get to the flashing light take a left and it's at the end of the street on the right. There are no signs once you start driving into New Suffolk.
We had an amazing lunch and an even better dinner here.
You MUST try the Mediter-Asian Salad, it's AWESOME! -

If possible come hear during the summer so you can go to the beach, which is walking distance from the restaurant. I recommend to hit up the beach before and after dinner, i swear the water gets warmer at night or is it that the air gets cooler so the water feels warmer? I have had some i my favorite summer memories doing just that with friends and family. The food is gourmet taste with diner sized portions. The bread basket alone is worth the 5000 mile drive to get to this part on the island. It has the best raisin bread with walnuts and a raisin puree infused dough that must be home made. I have tried a lot of the dishes on the menu since my family usually shares, and i have never been disappointed. Its an eclectic menu with regional dishes such as pad thai, chicken panko, boulibase, long island duck and stuffed lobster. The specials for the day are more like specials for the season since they are created using ingredients available during that time of year. Dessert is very rich and decadent, but is not to creative, more of the traditional stuff like creme brulee, chocolate cake and ice cream. The wait staff is always patient and respectful, the owner (tall lady with short hair) usually makes the rounds to add a personal touch. By the way i have never sat in the dining room, instead we go to the bar where sports are on the tube and money is spent on quick draw.
