When it first opened, I was very interested by the design of the place, however, it's a very warm feeling to be sitting in a booth eating Hong Kong type food. Since they are a 'Steak House', their steaks are top noched! If it comes with a meal, it's worth the money and it makes me so full.
Since I loved the steak so much, I've been there many times, however I've gotten sick of eating steak all the time I tried different things. I've tried baked spagetti and rice, and my favorite is the minced meat, it's extremely delicious and very filling, I can only eat half of the whole dish! My favorite drinks would be the green teas with variety flavors, I've learn that other drinks are more powdery so I want to keep it simple.
Other foods I've tried would be curry chicken rice and pineapple rice. The curry rice wasn't bad, as expected for curry but the pineapple rice was far out bad! It didn't have the pineapple fried flavored in the rice, and it was dried and bland. I was very disappointed in the effort the chefs put into that dish.
They open really late for a restaurant, they stay open until 11pm.
Their menu is just like any other Chinese restaurant with some things that are a bit different. Actually, their menu is just like HK Tea & Sushi, which is right across the street. I came here at least 3 times and each time I ordered a rice dish, whether it be chicken and broccoli or beef and pineapple or something, I did not like it. My friends ordered various types of spaghetti or the combo meal with steak and shrimp, I didn't like those either. Their flavors were either too strong and salty or weak and plain.
I've tried their coconut smoothie and I didn't like that either. The only thing I like in this place is their cold jasmine green tea with less sugar. It's a bit bitter but delicious.
Came here last year with some friends for bubble tea and their tapioca is not fresh and the drinks are not made well enough because it's very watery.
My friend wanted to go this past weekend and I decided to give it another chance. She wanted the Horlick drink, They were out of it! . She wanted Ovaltine and they said they were out of that too. This was at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon.
I ordered a Coconut milk tea with Tapioca... and not surprisingly , same results. Just not fresh at all. We got the baked rice with chicken and curry. The dish was okay. And we also got singapore mai fun which tasted very bland. The rice dish with Chicken did come with a lot of good chicken pieces though. So i'll bump this from a 1 star to a 2. Much better selections on 86th street , avoid if possible in my opinion.
Their steak is HK style, so don't expect the american steak here. Itz kind of steak that is cheap but very tasty! HK taste like Garlic, black pepper! Try their baked dishes also! I just wish they can dim the light a bit!
Yes, this is the typical HK style food but it was great for the price! I ordered the black peppered chicken steak and the size of it was huge! Very flavorful and it's a nice quaint restaurant. It's a good place for a quick lunch! I think my dish was like around $4 or $6. Gotta love it!
I simply adore this place.
THe atomsphere is so sophisticated in here. It is a lovely place to go to for a romantic dinner. THe waiters were friendly, except for this one impatient lady. (Ugh.)
I recommend their baked rice dishes. THey have a variety of fusion dishes and western food. THe appetizers are really good too. The combo meal is so worth it. Comes with soup, spaghetti or rice, a drink, and a main course. And it was like around $18-25, I think.
THe only downside was the drinks I had tried so far. The Green Apple Green Tea had a really strong tea flavor rather than the apple. Also the chocolate milkshake was MEGA weird. Mine had like chocolate cake chucks in it :S The only good drink on the menu is the bubble milk tea, not to be confused with the regular milk tea. (Because that wasn't that great either xS)
Food comes out fairly fast, really nice place for a good cheap meal. :)
I love their baked rice dishes there. I'm also a fan of their fruit slushies...mMm soooo good! The combo entree with soup and a drink is well worth it! I like the way the designed the restaurant it's pretty stylish and elegant, yet it's casual-like. The thing I don't like is they don't accept credit cards.
Food is awful here, the spaghetti's overcooked and the steak isn't that great either. Soup is just blah. The bubble tea here is overpriced and tastes awful. Cheap cheap cheap chinese american restaurant. If I were you I'd save my money and go to HK Tea and Sushi across the street.
