Fun and Amazing experience!!
I discovered Leftovers when a friend recommended them for me to sell my gently used or mostly not used at all furniture and household items. I was totally blown away with the great selection, and it changes often so it's always a fun experience going there. Kelly and her wonderful staff are always helpful and friendly. Meanwhile, not only have I found a wonderful venue to sell my "leftovers" but I have purchased several fabulous items as well. I bought four beautiful Italian woven dining room chairs, that I adore, a dresser (modern), set of dishes, and the list goes on and on. There is a great mix of modern, contemporary and antique.
I am an animal lover, so the presence of the cute felines doesn't bother me. Do yourself a favor, visit Leftovers soon, but give yourself some time, because there is a LOT to see and take in! And if you see something you are interested in, put it on "hold" (they only do a one day hold), because chances are, as I discovered, it probably will be gone. Now, I try to buy it when I see it. -

Really well set up, shows the consigned furniture very nicely. Further, all sales are considered on-approval for the first 24 h or so, so you can return items that don't lok good chez-vous. I've bought a slipper chair and 2 stylized bar stools for an art studio.
Health Problem: I would give the store a 5* BUT: a large, fluffy cat is always there and is permitted to sleep on any available couch, chair etc. Nothing is off limits to the cat. See the store's photos for examples.
Most people wouldn't like cat dander, odor or hair devaluing the upholstered furniture they're buying. No one with cat allergy or asthma should live with soft furniture, cushions, rugs, etc which has been exposed to cat. Management should confine the cat to his/her own pet-bed. Even carpets in homes with cats act as reservoirs for cat odor and allergy causing eminations. -

I really enjoy visiting Leftovers. I have been several times now (at least twice to their new location) and I always see at least one or two interesting things. If only I had a larger place to furnish and more money with which to furnish it!
I like to go at least once a month to see what new things have arrived (or see if the thing that I liked has been marked down). The prices are very reasonable and the space is large enough to properly display all of the items. I find it overwhelming to go in some antique shops and not be able to see anything because everything is stacked on top of everything else - this is not the case at leftovers. I also just consigned a lamp and it was easy-as-pie. Now I'll just cross my fingers that it sells! -

I recently purchased a new sectional sofa, and I mean NEW. Still had the tags, for about a third of what it cost at crate and barrel. They have a wonderful selection of old and like new pieces that they take on consignment. Some really high end things at very attractive prices. Many are from stagers that furnish homes that are for sale. I have not placed anything for sale as yet. A great resource. I wish I had found it sooner. A great place to start if you are redecorating.

This store has a great selection of furniture and the staff is really nice. Some of the prices are a bit high and there are cats all over the store, which sucks for those of us who are allergic. 4 stars for friendly service and an interesting selection!

My friends and I recently moved into a new apartment and desperately need furniture. Looking for unique and affordable pieces, but not so willing to jump right into Ikea things straight away, we wandered into Leftovers out of curiosity. We were so happy with the things we saw! They have a great eye for good-looking furniture, and are super helpful and friendly. I haven't been there without seeing something I love. Aside from finding upholstered chairs and dressers, we also purchased some great jewelry, too. There is no doubt that I will be back at least once a week to see what exciting new things they'll have in the store.

This place is coming down with cats!! I don't know about you, but if I am buying a piece of furniture I don't want to see cats/cat hair all over it. I did see a few things that I liked but the cats totally made me walk out the door.
have been to other consignment stores and I appreciate that the furniture is "used" but come on, don't make it into worse condition than is already is!! So GROSS!! Not to mention that I have cat allergies, but to me, this is beside the point. Keep your animlas out of your store PLEASE!!
Prices are a little on the high side but the name brands/quality is amazing - so you definitely get good quality pieces.
Please remove the cats! PLEASE!! -

Amazing selection and good mix of antique and contemporary items along with smiling service! I loved the jewelry made by local artists and picked up a fabulous necklace that garners rave reviews from all of her friends. I also found a classic horn walking stick to add to my collection.
New stuff is always being added, so it's hard not to pop in often! -

Great service. The gal looks like she is new. Hi, Mika, Not pushy and let you make-up your mind. I have never bough furniture before and I was at a Berkeley consignment shop that has a sofa that I like but was like $150 more then the one this store has. It got a better fabric then the one at leftover though.
Mika offers to hold the piece for me so I can think it over and I did not expect her to help load the baby in the back of the truck. Wow, she is one strong sales lady.
The entire place has great antique pieces that I saw in catalogs and ads but have no desires to pay full price. Why people want to buy plastic fake furniture from Ikea, I will never know. I know I will enjoy my furniture for a long time and I will definitely be back. -

A wide selection of unique used decor at great prices. I wish I had endless money to furnish my apartment with items from this store. It's basically the best of craiglist in a tangible place.
The staff is friendly, personable, and has great taste. They have a professional mover on the side that you work with personally to deliver your items, that operates at a separate fee but is quick and reliable. He delivered our furniture the same day we purchased it.
I can't wait to go back next week and get something else. My apartment is finally a home :) -

This can be a good resource--especially for smaller items. However, I agree with the reviewer who said that some things here seem to be overpriced for what they are.
I really miss Aunt Bill's! -

Moving to the City my wife and I were looking for a gem AND a deal, not an easy combo in anywhere, let alone in SF. But we found that here at Leftovers. Michael was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, eager to help but never making you feel pressured. In fact, we visited the store on 3 occasions before we made our purchase.
The store has rugs, mid-century style pieces, chandeliers, couches, livingroom/bedroom furniture, frames, everything household basically...
Michael is a straight shooter with negotiating (and yes, they do negotiate). They are selling other people's stuff, so they will call the owner if you have a worthy offer that they aren't sure about. The entire staff was over-the-top. Oh yeah, and they threw in a little TV stand for us (since we just moved here) that looks very nice... it was an excellent experience.
The couch had a stain on it and the owner took almost $100 off the price tag and gave a card to an upholsterer that charges much less than $100 to remove the stain.
If you don't find something you like, come back the next day! They get new stuff constantly! (For those who care, some Anthropology-type items w/out Anthro price tags)
We bought a couch and coffee table and will be back for smaller pieces. Definitely a great experience! -

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Whoever does the picking and choosing of what gets sold is a genius. Every time I go in here I find something...I just only wish I had more money.
On top of that they are always friendly and sometimes willing to work on prices because well, let's be honest, a few of the items are WAY over priced. -

This is an awesome furniture consignment store. I love coming here for inspiration but the prices are pretty high for second-hand. I honestly would buy new and pay a little more.
I went earlier in the day and the owner cut me a deal for one if their newly delivered items (stainless steel shelving straight outta the truck), which I thought that was pretty neat. -

Great consignment store that just moved around the corner to Van Ness. Very good mixture of good quality newer and antique pieces at fair prices.
The staff was consistently friendly and helpful on our visits. The helped to open up the sofa bed and loaded it into our van. -
Review from Nikki M.
This adorable little furniture shop is run by a friend of mine. I tell you this because I like nice people, so you should patronize his store. They just had a grand opening last night, but the store officially opens on Saturday May 2nd.
The other owner is Kelly, who was the brainchild behind Mani Pedi in Potrero Hill, a shop that had quite the cute interior! Bonus points for being foster mom to kittens (you know how I love animals).
So far they've got a lot of cute stuff from glasswear and candle holders to church pews and shutters. They've got items both old and new, and they even do consignment. There's a fabulous marble-topped coffee table in the window that's only around $200, a steal for a piece like that.
Soon they'll be featuring furniture, rugs, china, silver, linens, frames, objets d'art, and more -- some of it new, some of it old, and some of it repurposed. So stop in!
Open Wed thru Sunday. -

I just moved into the neighborhood & I wish I would have waited to buy all of my furniture here! Sadly I had already furnished my apartment with the major pieces, but I was looking for some off side tables & art. The stuff here is amazing & the staff is very friendly. I have been several times & it seems like its a hit & miss as far as the amount of inventory goes because they had a fresh truck load of treasures the first time I went & it was amazing, other times not as much. I say its worth the trip to look around.

I discovered this little store on the weekend they opened. Lucky for me, as they already were quite well stocked. I could not stop thinking about a victorian dresser and an ancient piano stool I saw and went back 2 weeks later to buy them.
I found two more pieces and Kelly and John helped me arrange transport to our home. The pieces are now at home, looking beautiful and were really great value for the price. Now I keep thinking about that little rocking chair I saw and will probably go back soon..... -

A nice little consignment shop in the Polk gulch area. They have two store fronts within walking distance of each other. The employees here are super friendly and know their stuff. They won't claim to sell you an authentic Eames chair or try to push you to buy anything.
I bought a nice danish lounge chair for a bargain and will definitely be back to see what goodies they have acquired. -

Okay, so the gist of this is that I really like this store.
However, I'm going to take away one of the five stars for Leftovers, two stores (one business) which I really like shopping at, as well as consigning pieces which no longer have a place in my home. The smaller store on Polk Street is perfect, but the larger one around the corner needs some improvement in its customer service as well as clarity on what items they will and will not sell.
The owner is marvelous, friendly, and very professional. I like her a lot. Additionally, I really like the lady who works the smaller store on Polk Street. But I had to "take a pause" today when I went in to try to consign two of my items at the larger store around the corner.
I totally understand some pieces tend to sell for higher prices and some for less. But one of the guys working behind the counter, the taller of the two, had a bit of an attitude, which I've noticed on several visits to the store, speaking to both myself and other customers. Maybe this is just how he is, but it's how he came across.
The painting I was trying to consign, an original signed abstract (one of my own), typically sells in the $300-$500 range. I was told they'd sell it for $20. They did apologize this is all they could offer, and I wasn't offended in the least. Several of my neighbors have been to the store, and have also mentioned they found the customer service, at times, to have been "off".
I hope things improve as this place is a gem on Polk Street.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I've been dying to find a shop in my area that A: has a selection of thingamabobs like I'm used to finding in places outside of the Tendernob gulch, and B: have friendly folks in the damnable place.
Shiyet... strangely enough, I found both. There is a metric shit ton of awesome stuff, consignment, antique, collectable and otherwise, that could easily be found elsewhere (peninsula to NoPA) but have all been consolidates in this one central location. Yes... there is the other smaller spot, but this... This... is the big one.
They'd opened it months before, but they have finally filled it out. Corners upon corners of good stuff. I would suggest grabbing a drink and emptying your bladder. There really doesn't seem to be much junk in here. Awesome, awesome, awesome. I love it.
Oh, don't forget to ask one of the workers about the piece you're holding. Chances are, it's been sitting in there a bit and they'll discount it for you. If not, well, it's fairly priced and still pretty rocksville. Whatevs. I'm gonna go hang my duck print. -

Great place to consign good quality furniture. The staff are helpful and they sold my sofa for a fair price.
My only complaint about them is that they are slow to pay the sellers and it would be nice if they paid two weeks after close of sale. -

Love this store. And cannot wait until they move to bigger space!! So many great finds, amazing prices, great service. Mike and Micah are wonderful. Not pushy at all and extremely helpful. Got beautiful dining room chairs for an unbelievable price and they let me purchase three out of a whole set. Really unique finds. Highly recommend.

Interesting pieces. The pricing is fair as well. Much of it looks like someone swooped into a dead relatives house, loaded the sellable things into a van and drove off in search of a resale venue....

This is the smaller store of two that they have. Both are great, it just depends on what you are looking for. This smaller one tends to have alot of smaller pieces, i.e. chairs, antique washstands, decorative objects, framed art, lamps, offee tables, plant stands, etageries. For the larger pieces, such as sofas, armoires, dining tabbles and rugs, (and alot more), check out the BIG store!

We happened to wander into this little place and came out with a couple of little things...but keep this great store in mind for eclectic furniture, art, pottery etc. at really affordable prices. The quality of their stuff is much much higher than comparable places, for example, some of the shops on Valencia street. There are so many lovely pieces to browse, I just wish I had a bigger apartment!

If you know which days in the month are your lucky ones, you'd be well served to spend one of them here. Sometimes things roll in that just drop your jaw. 10x7 ft antique lacquered hutch with cut glass fittings marked down from a grand to $199? Incredible.

Two stars for a wonderful collection of everything ones little second hand heart could desire.
Zero stars for the fact that EVERY time I have been in this store (at least half a dozen) I have not once been greeted. Not a hello, head nod or a wave. Nothing. I have entered this store prepared to purchase, but prefer to take my business somewhere it is appreciated.
**On a side note, their smaller location on Polk seems to have a friendlier atmosphere, sometimes. -

Dear Leftovers, I love you. Sincerely, Sara
I love leftovers so much I almost don't want to yelp it because then everyone will know how great it is, and the really fabulous finds won't be all mine! =) The only reason I'm sharing this is that the people behind leftovers are also fabulous... I don't know them personally, but went to the store for the 1st time last month and they were totally friendly and helpful. The store is a great mix of finds, all well priced. The owners were really great too -- helped me find a great place to buy fabric to reupholster a chair, and referred an upholsterer too! In addition to a fun selection, the windows really are impeccably decorated -- I drive by on the way to work and love to look in. If you're a person who likes finding a good bargain, this store is for you. -

Impeccably decorated, for starters. Thoughtfully planned.Interesting pieces. Expensive for what looks like stuff that was found in craigslist free section and spiffed up. And selling the letters from the now out-of-business Rite-Aid store in the neighborhood..?Just sayin.

Be very careful when you shop here b/c we were almost ripped off. Store has some attractive bamboo folding chairs priced at $130 each. We were told they were from Neiman Marcus. Checked N-M website and they had folding chairs (2 for $119) but not the same ones. On a hunch, I checked Gumps, and sure enough, there they were. However, at Gumps chairs were 2 for $155. More checking online -- Target has exact same chairs 2 for $79.95, as do a couple other reputable websites. Discrepancy between Leftovers and others may be naivete, but we won't be shopping there again.
