This place is one of the two Chinese food places in heart of Almaden, doesn't really have a reputation for being a swanky place.  Just your run of the mill order and go Chinese food, nothing especially good or bad.  Although I cannot remember exactly if they have a "no MSG" policy or not.

Anyway, I remember eating a Wonton soup here a long while ago and didn't have any major problems with it...  meaning they probably didn't use MSG in that.  I guess that most people who come in here are Caucasians seeking to order some Americanized Chinese dishes... like Kung-pao Chicken and Sweet and sour pork?  I mean f**k, who make this stuff up?

Personally, I don't think I would order a plethora of food items for a family style dinner here.  I do believe that you can speak to the person taking your order and to specify how you want things cooked.  They might fret on that initially, but if you're nice about it they might actually listen.  Such as, don't under cook the vegetables or use low sodium on the beef.  Ehhhh, I don't know... to honestly say this place has "good" Chinese food would probably be a lie.

I love this place.  Travois (reviewer below) is a jerk.  Highly likely story Trav-waa.

Moving on, I regularly order the following items, and they are always great.

House special fried rice.
Mongolian beef.
War Wonton Soup.
Almond prawns.

My husband likes the eggrolls.

When you want some quick Chinese food, Lee's Village is the place to go. Their lemon chicken is the BEST!

Little operation... I got sicker than a dog after eating there. I was on the throne sitting and thinking about life a lot.
One of my kids' friends said that the cooks go next door to the Safeway trash bin to get vegetables! I didn't believe it. The about two weeks later, I was driving in the back entrance to the shopping center, behind Safeway and Lee's Village and saw one of the cooks poking around the bin with a box and taking veggies out!! I couldn't believe it. So I turned around and drove back and sure enough: an older Chinese man, dressed in white, with a white paper cap and a box taking vegetables out of the bin!!! Lee's Village kitchen is two doors down!!!!!
Unbelievable!!!!

this is one of our weekly go-to's. andy and everyone that works there is super nice. the kids at the counter remember what we want. andy has gone way out of his way to provide veg friendly stuff for us and i really appreciate it. i can't vouch for the meat, but their veg stuff has never left me sick.

YUCK!!!  Seriously, the food here is nasty.  I lived in Shanghai for a while, and have a Chinese wife, so it's not like I'm a stranger to Chinese food. I absolutely love Chinese food even the authentic food that your average white guy would cringe at. But this stuff..no way. It's all just swimming in grease and has some funky taste that I can't quite put my finger on. Even my 4yo little girl knows. She's a chow mein freak and can't get enough of the stuff. One taste of Lee's chow mein, however, and she spit it out saying "yucky"

I can't believe this place has been in business for over 20 years. Probably because they're only one of two Chinese options in Almaden and most folks don't know better. Honestly, if a Mr Chau's opened up anywhere nearby Lee's would be out of business in a month. That's not to say that Mr. Chau's is good, but in comparison.........

If the other stories are true, that's a bit scary. I've been here a few times, but each time I came, I only ordered the house special fried rice. It seems a bit expensive ($7.50), but they actually give you quite a bit of food. It's enough to last me 2+ meals. And I like that they put in a ton of ingredients: carrots, peas, fresh bean sprouts, shrimp, bbq pork, chicken, green onions. It was pretty quick to order. I waited about 5-7 mins. This place has been around forever... so they must be doing some things right... right? Maybe I'll venture to try their other dishes sometime....

perfect place for some take-out and fast chinese food to go.  this is where i go for some chinese chicken salad...the chicken is wonderfully seasoned, and the sauce is amazing and very unique.  also, andy is an absolute delight and a spitting image of jackie chan.

as for travois d., i don't know what the hell you're talking about.  i've never gotten sick from eating this food (maybe a little food comatose) but i HIGHLY doubt they get their veggies from the safeway garbage bins.  they're not all organic and locally grown or anything, but that is just B.S.

i didn't give it 5 stars because their egg rolls suck.
