I don't know about the other reviews on this page, but this location has never failed to deliver for me.

The shop is clean, service is fast, and the sandwiches are delicious! The #1 is my personal favorite, and I've always found it to be full of meat with the perfect combination of crispiness (of the pickled carrots and radishes) and the meat, and the pâté.... yummm... I'm craving one right now.

I'm giving it 5 stars because I like their sandwiches so much. I've never tried anything else though, but it looks good.

Dropped by the other night to pick up a baguette to accompany my dinner and got a little bit more than I expected. I was browsing the items on the counter while waiting for the baguette and decided to pick up a rice cake for closer inspection. However, when I moved it a SWARM of fruit flies rushed out. Needless to say, I was disgusted and will think twice about coming back here.

My last review said I wasn't too fond of the baguettes.  That was before I started getting them fresh for home consumption.  Baked every 30 minutes for only $1 how can you go wrong?  I was looking forward to trying the croissants fresh but the one I got was cold.  No worries though, I took it home and popped it in the microwave for a second.  With that much butter in it, it was good as new!

Back in my Evergreen days, my friends and I would frequent this place. We were always low on cash and I didn't think they'd want to go anywhere more hardcore.
The store always looks clean and they have a touch screen system and a little voice calls out your number when your order is ready.
The sandwiches are ok, but I've found cheaper and better before. The real draw is their large selection of snacks. Spring rolls and Grass Jelly, YUM!
It was a downer when my friends mom found a cockroach in her sandwich. We didn't go there for about a month after that. Then we decided, well WE didn't find the roach.

I usually see flies living it up on uncovered waffles and bread, but one day I saw a fly packaged in one of their spring roll dishes on the counter. Combined with the plummet of their food quality, their once cheap prices are now ridiculously inflated. And it also doesn't help that they don't offer real pearl drinks, but simply blended ice cream; and load their drinks up with ice so they don't have to put as much liquid.
There are way too many better places for vietnamese sandwiches and drinks.

I've been coming here occassionally since I was in high school and I still visit whenever I'm in town. A lot of people say that there's lots of flies landing on the food that's out but I've never witnessed it out of 6 years I've been going here.

I THINK they accept credit cards, but there's a $10 minimum. I'M NOT SURE SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG .__.;;

Anyways, here's a short review:

PROS:
- cheapest Lee's Sandwich I've seen (only by like 25 to 50 cents)
- although smoothies are powder-based they're better than ALL powder-based smoothies I've tasted :P

CONS:
- not as many choices as other Lee's Sandwiches
- they leave the ice in a bin. I don't think it should be out in the open like that.

OTHER COMMENTS:
- no cucumbers in their sandwiches (I know the one in Cupertino has cucumbers in their sandwiches)
- workers aren't "young" ("young people" that work are usually either annoying and don't do anything or really helpful and do everything. Hooray for ageism.)

This place gets a 4 because I am a fan but not a 5 because it does have room for improvement :)

If I want to eat something relatively cheap near my parents house, I come here because I don't want to eat at McDonald's.

I'm not going to claim these are the best Vietnamese sandwiches around here because I don't eat them often enough to make any comparisons. However, BBQ Pork sandwich (#6) definitely hits the spot if you are hungry. Also I always tell them to remove the peppers because I don't like my mouth burning with every bite.

#1 and a Thai Iced Tea pearl drink, please.

Besides the fact that they put way too much ice in their drinks, I'll always come back for the sandwiches. And don't expect any service from this place.

This place is by far the worst Lee's Sandwich I've been to. The food had a lot of flies around it and when I asked for a "hot" waffle the lady assure me it just warm is that ok, I said ok as long it warm...That waffle couldn't get any colder than ice! This place have a lot of food that has been sitting out, for days maybe. I never liked Lee's Sandwich, there sandwiches has nothing in it, not enough of anything; two slices of paper thin meat. It's weird how they have become so popluar in the south bay.

I don't know what's up with my fondness of non-Vietnamese Vietnamese places (Lee's) & non-Chinese Chinese places (Panda Express) -- I guess I'm just not in touch with my roots :(

My aunt always tells me there is a really good Vietnamese sandwich place in the plaza next to Target on Silver Creek but I insist on driving to Lee's. Perhaps the comfort of being able to order a #4, rather than asking for a banh mi ga nuong (or however you say it), is worth the drive!

The sandwiches are decent -- standard for Lee's. Relatively speedy service -- standard. Iced coffee -- WTF. First it seems like they're ripping you off because the cup is only 1/3 full and they fill the rest with ice but after one sip, you KNOW why they fill it up with hella ice -- it's sooooo artificially, strange tastingly (yes I made up a word!) sweet. I bet they're dumping in half Torani syrup so they don't have to use that much real coffee and then charging 19273126x what they spend to make it.

...but we all know I'll keep going back, haha.

This is the only Lee's I've been to. It's close to home and my family come here pretty often and they've been consistently good.

This place is clean and bright inside and the baguettes are fresh and yummy. The baguettes sliced are always a hit for dinners and gatherings such as Thanksgiving.

I usually order the grilled chicken or the veggie. They're both good, but your clothes will smell after eating any of the Asian sandwiches, so that's something to consider before choosing what to eat hah. Unfortunately the thit nuong sandwich isn't how I like it, and for that I'll go to Dakao. Their Vietnamese iced coffees and smoothies (with or without pearls) are really good thoughl. AND they fill it to the top which already earns points in satisfaction before you even take a sip.

I think I remember them taking cards before, but today I found out cash only! So stop by the atm before going here! If your out of paper money, and you're part of BofA, luckily there's one in the Lucky's next door.

This is one out of 2 respectable Lee's to eat at. Other places just seem to not put in the care for the sandwiches as much as this one. It always taste more fresh here.
Watch out for items you buy here like random cookies and what not. I guess they dont keep their eye on it but one time i was in and a customer came back in returning a Grandma's Cookie he purchased because it was expired already.

Located in an awesome place next to Lucky's right off of Aborn and White. I been there a couple of times to get sandwiches and coffee. The place is good to dine in, but I ain't so thrilled.

The bread... always hurts my gums. It's toasty but in a bad way.
I rather drive a bit further to King road if I was feeling Lee's,
or just drop by a different Vietnamese Banh Mi shop.

Kids, don't smoke crack.

ALL Vietnamese sandwiches are under $3 and Lee's is the worst place to get one.

Check it out: http://www.yelp.com/se...

Thanh Huong, Houng Lan, Saigon's and Dakao smack the yellow out the face of Lee's.

Please, people, I beg of you.  TRY a different VN sandwich and you'll know what I mean.  Lee's is like the McDonald's of VN food.  At least McDonald's has low prices in volume.  Lee's has the same prices as those other places I mentioned and not even close to the same quality.

I cry for those who think Lee's is the end all of VN sandwiches.  Remember, Lee's Sandwiches started as a roach coach outfit and expanded into banh mi stores.  Do you really want roach coach food?

The baguettes are amazing. Usually they're fresh out of the oven and smelling delicious. The price used to be only $1 for a baguette, but they have recently upped the price 25 cents. Okay, it's only a quarter, but that's still a 25% increase! Well, I'll still buy it because it's so good.

The other thing I love from Lee's is the #9, aka the sardine sandwich. It's the only one I order, so I can't vouch for how good or bad any of their other sandwiches are. No one else understands or appreciates my love for this sandwich. My boyfriend particularly hates it. Maybe I'm the only person on earth who loves the fishy goodness, but I really do! Although predictably it gives you some major dragon breath.

Also, they only accept cash, so come prepared.

San Jose really has come of age when every 10 minutes or so you realize that you've passed another Lee's Sandwiches.  Back in the day, we'd have to drive all the way to Downtown SJ to even get our hands on these sandwiches.  And now, there's one right around where my parents live.  SWEET!

There are very few places where you can get sandwiches for less than 3 bucks.  I like the grilled chicken.  I tell them to keep it light on the mayonnaise and to hold the chillis.  I stay away from the char-siu (Chinese sweet and sour pork - kinda greasy and fatty!).  But grilled pork is also good, as is the vegetarian version (tofu and other good stuff).  Other good treats - spring rolls to go, sweet desserts (Vietnamese cakes and other goodies), very strong Vietnamese coffee!

Minus one star for the Vietnamese wannabe ganstas who gawk at every chick who walks across the storefront and who sip coffee (the same cup) all day long.  Get a life!  I'm a married woman!

The "Iced Coffee" here is nothing more than coffee 'flavored' milk.  And its only $2.50 + tax for a cup of this iced milk that has a super milked out taste with a hint of what may or may not be coffee.
I can't comment on the on the substandard quality of thier sandwiches, but several people here can. Keep reading.

Like all the Lee's Sandwiches chains I seen. Lee's is the worst of worst of all Vietnamese sandwiches.

The quality of the all the stuff they put into a French roll is absolutely horrible. I would recommending going somewhere else for your sandwiches. Their sandwiches are consistently bad, you dont have the right balance in favor and texture when you bite into a Lee's. One Star since sometimes their fresh bread is good.

Since this place is located in San Jose, there's tons of other alternatives Vietnamese sandwich shops. If you want to travel I recommend Oakland's Cam Huong.

Okay so I was craving Lee's sandwich today.  As usual I order the #4.  So I'm enjoying my sandwich and as I was gonna take another bite I saw something in my sandwich.  "What the heck is that?"  I said to myself.   Gross---a dead fly.  That totally ruined my appetite.  I go up to the cashier and told him there is a fly in my sandwich.  He go gets another employee and they're examining the sandwich.  They look at me as if I'm the one who put it in there---WTF?  After looking at the sandwich they finally throw it away.  The cashier says "sorry" with a big smile.  Asks me if I want another sandwich or my money back.  Dude...I've already lost my appetite---just give me my $3.00.  This review is just for this day otherwise their sandwiches are pretty good.  Love their iced coffee.

Comments:

When I go to any ethnic restaurant I base it on the authenticity of the dishes they serve at the place. Lee's Sandwiches are faaarrr from authentic! Yes they are located at convenient areas, but "banh mi" on baguettes...come on now! It's just their way of being shystie. Well, it would be one thing if the baguettes were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outer crust...but they are hard as steel. Let's not get into it about their desserts now. What country did they get the ingredients from?

Best places to get "Vietnamese" sandwiches would be at a little viet deli like Huong Lan or Thanh Huong, etc...

My comments are the same for the other Lee's Sandwich places. As I said they are more convenient to get to and yes I have tried them all. Same story.

The drinks are good though. J

OMG - this place is like the McDonald's of Vietnamese food.  Kinda crappy, inexpensive, and caters to EVERYONE (mostly non-Vietnamese people it seems).  The sandwiches barely have any meat or substance, and the baguette bread is hella hard and thin.  If you're looking for some fast-food that's not terrible, then this is a place to try... but if you want real vietnamese food, go to a real vietnames restaurant.

Quick and easy chicken / pork sandwiches and other Vietnamese bakery delicacies. What more can you ask for. Service is nice and it seems rather clean too. Quick and easy place to pick up a simple meal. Don't try the smoothies / thai tea though, definitely not worth it. Chicken wings are way too fatty and overcooked too. Stick with sandwiches and you can't go wrong (I recommend the teriyaki chicken).

This was my first exposure to lee's sandwiches. They are some of the best sandwiches on earth and they are all under 3 bucks. I really enjoy the grilled pork sandwich and i like to accompany that by a fresh soy milk.

And if you're not in the mood for a sandwich, these baguettes are amazing. and also super cheap.

This location is actually expanding and I cannot wait.

Lee's is too commercialized.  There sandwiches here are just okay.  The baguettes they use for the sanwiches are too rough and chewy.  I like mine soft on the inside but a nice crunch on the outside.  I've also noticed they increased their tapioca drinks to $3.75?  Geez.  Way too expensive.

i love lee sandwiches. up the street theres a quiznos that will rip you off. 10 bucks for a sandwich combo? well now its like 13-15 bucks but lee sandwich keeps it real. i always order the ga nuong but don't order it in vietnamese if you don't know vietnamese. i looked at the menu and i decided to give my vietnamese a try so i said can i get a ga nuong? then the cashier was like BaH mUaY BuM LaM something something something. i was like "oh god no now i don't know how much to pay her.." i tried looking at the cashier machine to see if it would show the amount but no luck. i just had to get lucky and dish some money out. i decided my lucky number would be 3, and suprisingly that was the actual cost of the ga nuong. i was relieved that she didn't yell at me for short changing her. now that i know its 3 bucks i just say ga nuong anyway to impress any cute vietnamese girls standing in line behind me. and when they say BaH mUaY BuM LaM i just give them 3 bucks like it ain't a thang. life works out, and we're all happy. this sandwich was awesome, hell i'd pay 6 bucks for the sandwich. but i'm fine with just 3 =] i love this place its my new favorite sandwich place. oooo and if you want really good bread then just order their baguette, its so bomb
