I enjoyed the open and bright atmosphere of this restaurant. The prices were expected to be high because I assumed the restaurant to be trendy and expensive, but was pleasantly surprised to see the prices to be very reasonable. (lunch for about $10)

The food tasted good. not the greatest but good enough to return for another lunch.

I went to Leaf for the first time last weekend and I thought is was okay. I had the vegan enchiladas and some Asian dish which was wayyyyyy too salty.

I think I need to go back there and try more of their dishes to make a final decision.  The service was good and the restaurant is actually really nice, but I did feel some weird energy in there...

I've been here twice for lunch in the past two months or so and really enjoyed it, so much that I might have to take another trip to Boulder just to go again!

My first visit turned me on to my new favorite drink, mint lemonade!

I got the BBQ Seitan plate and it was definitely more than I could eat. The balls of BBQ Seitan were not exactly what I expected them to look like.  They reminded me of some sort of asian dish like orange chicken or sesame chicken. It was pretty darn tasty though, accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes, collared greens, corn bread and red pepper-corn slaw. The corn bread was a little dry and could have been better if it was warmed up and smothered in butter, but this meal was heavy enough as it was (especially when you consider I was also stealing my friend's sweet potato fries).

The next time I went, I went for something lighter and got the Roasted Poblano Sandwich and a chilled beet soup. The sandwich was pretty good. Although the bread was a little too charred on the inside, the asadero cheese and the avocado tasted great combined with the poblano. The chilled beet soup was good, and probably very healthy, but nothing too exciting. I think overall, I was happier with the first meal.

I had a bite of the falafel and it was really tasty. They also have vegetarian Bi Bim Bop, which I only recently learned about. This version is teriyaki tofu, marinated cucumber and bean sprouts, jasmine rice, kimchee, soft cooked egg, and spinach. I'd also like to try the Jamaican Jerk Tempeh, it sounds delicious!

It may have been a touch pricey ($11 for the BBQ Seitan plate and $9 for the sandwich) but I think you probably get what you pay for since they use seasonal organic ingredients. Happy hour may be the way to go!

Had lunch at Leaf yesterday during a Boulder excursion, on a tip from a yelpster. My hubby is vegeterian so we thought this would be a great place to try. The interior was modern and organic, very nice. As soon as I scanned the menu, I knew what I had to order: pumpkin pasta. It had a great fall spicy flavor, good presentation, and generous portion. I loved the figs in it! My husband got the general tso's seitan and that was equally as good. Prices were more reasonable than I was expecting, which is always a nice surprise. The only downside was the uninvited lunch guests in the form of two flies that wouldn't seem to leave . . .

Hit or miss for vegans.

Leaf served me one of the best dishes I've ever eaten, but I've also had a handful of non-memorable eats there. They had a chocolate mole dish that I gave a moan of appreciation for after every bite.  I checked the online menu awhile back and hit refresh in disbelief that the mole was gone.

One thing I intensely dislike about Leaf is that there are less and less vegan options each time I go.  What started as a nice vegan option for happy hour is now, sorry to say, quite pathetic in the diary-free department.  There are plenty of places to get vegetarian happy hour bites in Boulder, so it would be nice to have somewhere with reliable vegan options. Alas, that is not Leaf.

The good news is that you can depend on them for decent vegan cakes.  They aren't *****, but you can count on something if you have a sweet tooth.

All in all, go there for dinner and you may just get something scrumptious and vegan. Or not, but it still be mediocre.

I went to Leaf for the first time last week with my boyfriend who was in Boulder to run some school errands. While their menu appeared impressive, the decor was nice, and the service was good, the most I can say about Leaf is "meh."

I ordered a mint lemonade and the Bi Bim Bop. My boyfriend ordered a hibiscus cooler and the barbecue seitan. Both of our drinks came out tasting really ridiculously sweet. In fact, I had to wait throughout the whole meal, only taking tiny sips, in hopes that my ice would melt enough to make the lemonade palatable.

I thought the food, particularly my dish, was over seasoned. Everything on my plate, with the exception of the cilantro rice, was wayyyyyy too salty; so salty that I couldn't finish and didn't want a box. This is saying a lot, as I usually salt everything I eat.

I'm giving Leaf three stars though because my boyfriend's dish was really good. And while his seitan was pretty salty, the side dishes seemed to balance this out.

I'll definitely give it another try in hopes that my experience was an anomaly resulting from an overzealous cook.

What?  I never reviewed Leaf??  Well, allow me to remedy that.

I'll start by saying that there are a few dishes at this place that I'd kill a man for.  Well, maybe.  But I'd consider it, anyway!

Off the Happy Hour menu:

- the Puerh mushrooms.  Oh My God.  I'm not sure what is in this dish - just looks like mushrooms, soy-like sauce, rice, and seaweed salad - but it has a salty, ocean-like quality, mixed with a delicate and subtle sweetness that has me craving it at totally random times in my life.  In the middle of the night... on airplanes... while I'm eating at another restaurant... it's that good.

- the Trio of Tapas. Particularly the cheese and honey drizzle.  I know, cheese and honey, big whoop.  Somehow it's fantastic.  The eggplant salad, now, I KNOW why that's fantastic.  Because they take the freshest eggplants imaginable and lump them together into a perfect little shiny heap of yumminess.  Okay, I guess I don't know, really.

- the Seitan skewers.  This will fool almost any meat-eater.  The sauce is so spicy and fruity that your mouth just does not care whether the stuff covered with it is beef or wheat gluten.

Actually, most of the stuff I'd kill a man for is on the happy hour menu.  Maybe that's why I always come during happy hour.

The dinner menu is more hit or miss, but most of the stuff on it is good (and I've actually tried more than half the stuff on it).  The pluses:

+BBQ Seitan, for the same reasons as the skewers
+Polenta Napoleon, because of the way the polenta, mushrooms, and pearl onions feel in your mouth together before they explode into flavor
+Roasted Vegetable Lasagne, because it's made a lasagne hater into a lasagne lover with its surprise caches of rich cheese and piles of vegetables

Nothing else is quite as good as these things.  The one awful dish I had has apparently been removed from the menu.  It was an undercooked, hard-as-rock eggplant dish, which I had replaced with the lasagna.  The reason I'm mentioning it even though it's gone is because they were sort of snooty about replacing it, and when they brought me my replacement lasagna, it was the lunch portion size.  And they charged me the eggplant price anyway.

However, apart from that and this bizarre happy hour appetizer that's supposed to be a mushroom cake or something, and it's served with vegetarian caviar (??) and boring cheeses, I'm always at least happy with the meals I order.  My favorite thing about Leaf is that it doesn't just make normal meat dishes and then substitute tofu for the meat like a lot of vegetarian restaurants do.  They think hard about the actual tastes of the vegetarian ingredients when they're combining flavors, and the result is a world of difference away from just throwing a tofu patty into an otherwise normal hamburger.

The first meal I had from Leaf was the DELICIOUS mushroom burger- served with gouda on a fresh ciabatta roll~ A great first impression, but unfortunately I haven't had great experiences since. Horrible service- last time we were served warm (literally, warm) water in dirty glasses, and waited close to 40 mins for our meal, and another 20 for the bill after we were done. The food could be so much better- especially considering the same owner operates Dushanbe Teahouse and Aji (both worth checking out). Step it up, Leaf...gotta represent for the veggie crowd.

We go to Leaf at least every other time we are in Boulder, and we have never had anything less than an excellent experience. The staff is great, the restaurant is lovely, and the food is so good. The seitan skewers, the artichoke po boy, and the tofu noodle dish are my favorites. Oh! And the vegan carrot cake is the best thing ever.

So, you know it's bad when even a vegetarian is afraid to go into an all-vegetarian restaurant. I have to be honest here, good veggie restaurants are very very few and far between.

I can literally count on one hand the ones I've been to that I would not only go back, but recommend to non-vegetarians.

The Leaf is at the top of that list. The first time I went in (yes, not only am I recommending it... I've since been there MULTIPLE times), I was very hesitant. My now husband took me there on a date - so proud to prove that he can take care of me because he knew where this restaurant was where I could eat anything on the menu. (side note - I've been on a lot of these types of dates in the past and 9 out of 10 times, I actually prefer to go to any old restaurant and just choose the one veggie item they have... makes ordering MUCH easier and it's usually better food...but it IS cute that the guys think they're doing me a huge favor...)

Anyway, I was immediately impressed by the decor. It didn't look like most vegetarian places - where you can tell that they want it to look organic and natural...and it usually ends up looking like you'll be eating dinner in a barn.

The Leaf was very classy. And the menu had some really fun items on it - nothing too interesting, which is a great thing for meat-eaters visiting. People are afraid of vegetarian restaurants. They always feel so foreign. Shoot - I'm afraid of vegetarian restaurants, in case I haven't made that point obvious enough yet.

The Leaf doesn't feel like that at all. And the food is excellent. I've never been unhappy with my order there.

Even the vegan - yes, vegan - desserts are tasty.

I really looked forward to Leaf because of all the great reviews on here, but tonight was bad. Hopefully it was just because it was takeout, but food should still be just as good when taken home. He had BBQ Seitan and I had Bibimbap. My mistake on ordering Korean at this restaurant, but a rice craving came over me. The egg was overcooked, not soft and runny, the rice didn't taste completely correct and all the side vegetables were way too salty. The vegetables were all salt, no subtle sweetness with real Korean. I didn't even finish half the dish because I felt a sodium overdose coming on. The BBQ Seitan looked good, again, huge portions, but he said it wasn't that great either. We both thought it was overpriced. Hopefully this was just a bad night.

I went to The Leaf for their New Year's dinner.  The atmosphere is great.  It is small, romantic and beautiful with exposed brick and lots of greenery.

However the food left a lot to be desired, especially on a special menu night like New Year's.  The borscht appetizer, to me, was inedible.  It was raw so perhaps I should have expected a strange, goopy texture but nevertheless, it was not for me.

My entree was a veggie wellington which they did do well.  It was beautifully presented but it still lacked that depth of flavor that I would expect from a place this nice.  My partner had an apricot tempe dish that was delicious but overpoweringly sweet.  She was hardly able to eat dessert!   Desserts were gorgeous and beautiful.  We were both excited  to end the meal with something that looked so pretty and tasted so good.

This place was amazing. A girlfriend and I went for dinner one night and I was impressed. Great wine, delicious healthy vegetarian food and a great price!!

They had some sort of special when we went, where it was like 25 bucks a person for dinner, salad, dessert and appetizer. Woah nelly.  I forget if wine was included or on a happy hour special, but I do remember it was not overpriced at all and very good.

I will be returning. The food was great and the atmosphere very nice. Not overly done with decorations but a classy and clean open feel to the place. I felt like I had really been out on the town and eaten a healthy meal that didn't leave me wondering what in fact was in my food that I had ingested. Loved it.

What a nice cozy place! I really liked it here. I ate dinner alone (again) but didn't feel awkward at all! I wanted to treat myself to a nice, healthy comforting meal after working my ass off for the week and I got exactly what I wanted.

I had their Hibiscus Cooler to drink which was really nice and refreshing. For appetizer, I ordered Fresh Artichoke Guacamole which was good but could be better. The flavoring was very nice and fresh but I feel like it was a bit too chalky. I think all they needed was a little bit of olive or grapeseed oil to make it go down your throat better. A little bit more of the yummy red curry coconut cream that came with it would've been nice too. If they did that, this would be a perfect appetizer. It came with crispy toasted flatbread (or was it pitabread?...) to dip.

For my main course, I had their White Polenta Fondutto which was really really nice. I loved this dish. The polenta was crispy on the outside and moist and melted on the inside. This went perfectly with the melted gorgonzola. The polenta cakes came with oven roasted tomatoes, giant capers (aka caperberries)  on a bed of ....I think it was arugula. The creaminess of the polenta cakes and gorgonzola created a dressing over the greens... MMMmmm.. The only thing about this dish is that the greens could've been very very lightly dressed with (again..) olive or grapeseed oil so it bridged the gap between the creamy polenta cakes and the dry, chalky greens. I have no complains about the flavors though. Everything was really good.

Since everything else was so good, I was kind of disappointed with my dessert. I got their Vegan Flourless Chocolate Cake (dry and defrosted)  that came with fruit coulis (bland blueberry sauce) and a couple of blueberries on top. Vegan doesn't mean that the cake has to lack moistness. I ended up eating all of the chocolate icing and left more than half of the cake left on my plate. I almost NEVER leave dessert leftovers. Next time, I'm planning on trying a different dessert.

I was happy to find out that they do take-out there. I'm definitely coming back.

Leaf is a small restaurant that may be difficult to find due to the small sign.  However, just look for the Aji Latin American Restaurant, which it is adjacent to and, in fact, shares a wall and restroom facilities with.

Leaf has relaxing decor and delicious, inventive, affordable food that is presented beautifully.  I had the filling and flavorful Jamaican Jerk Tempeh lunch dish of "forbidden black rice, chard, coconut plantain sauce, chard, fruit salsa."

We went on a Saturday and didn't have any problems finding free parking in the lot on the corner.

Clever usage of leaf motif here.

First heard about leaf from a tall friend who bumped his head on the large metal leaf by the entrance door while walking up the sidewalk in front of Leaf, just before it first opened.  Hmmmm...what an introduction!

As the other reviewers have noted, this is a vegetarian restaurant.  It is clear to me that their menu was created by a superb vegetarian chef.  Always so much to choose from, and everything is well-prepared.

Thus far, I've been a lunch-only diner at Leaf.

I've enjoyed all of their sandwiches, especially the vegetarian "cheese steak" sandwich.  The way Leaf is able to prepare and spice gluten just perfectly in this particular sandwich is impressive.  Really, I am not so easy to impress.  My tastes seem to differ from the norm, whatever the norm is these days.

The lemonade with mint leaves is a refreshing drink.  It would be more refreshing if it were in a larger glass for the $$ and a refill were included.  It is so good, though...

The mushroom burger here is fantabulous.

I have eaten lunch with various friends who have tried just about everything on the menu here, and no complaints.

At lunch it is so reasonably priced, with the salad included with lunch entrees/sandwiches.

I should try more than just the sandwiches.

I'm looking forward to future dining experiences at Leaf...maybe even dinner!

Damn you Yelp and your lack of a 1/2 star option!  I really need it this time!  Really!  Just give it to me this once and I'll never ask for it again, I swear!

Before you read this review and think I am a horrible person not understanding of the vegetarian way, I have 20 years of meat-free dining under my belt (literally!) so hear me out...

I'm pretty torn on this one...  As a friend of mine put it, anyone who is a good to very good cook could make anything that Leaf serves at home, for a fraction of the price, with better portions,  and better seasoned (the hummus trio was oddly bland).

On the other hand, they have created a beautiful space, have a great selection of dishes such that I think you could bring a carnivore or two here, and they are a vegetarian restaurant.

So I am torn..three stars or four stars....

I tried two small plates, the hummus trio (bland, unimpressive, with about a tablespoon of each type of hummus) and the coconut encrusted tempura (tofu, sweet potato and plantain- 2 small bites of each) with a mango dipping sauce.  It was good, but I guess I was just expecting out-of-this-world good.

I have to say that this is one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder.  I work nearby and rush in around their happy hour (which by the way has an amazing menu at an excellent price)  I usually have only 15-20 minutes to enjoy this delicious experience between clients.  Jessica is usually working when i'm in and she always greets me (by my name) with the biggest smile, and the best service with a quick catch up.  no matter how many times I have been in, she always asks how everything tastes, and introduces me to the new server/ chef if there is one.  I always feel so taken care of and welcome. the food is always incredible (Puerrh Mushrooms?!  yes please!)  I took my man on a date here and he was equally impressed.  the dinner dining experience didn't disappoint either!  especially with a candlelit ambiance?!  five stars from me!

As a vegetarian, I greatly appreciate vegetarian restaurants. You meat eaters probably don't think about this, but the fact that I actually have more than 3 options to choose from is pretty awesome. With most restaurants, when I see a menu I have to go through a screening process where I locate the few options that I have available and then choose out of those. However, with an all-vegetarian menu, I just sat there looking at the menu  for ages, like I was dumbfounded or something. (The waitress became slightly annoyed perhaps since it took a good 5 minutes for me to decide)

And decide I did: polenta fondutto with traditional Japanese green tea with toasted rice to drink, and a artichoke heart guacamole to start. My lady friend got Indian Korma with black rice and a glass of wine.

Now, while the artichoke heart guacamole was so-so, everything else I must say was excellent. I've never tasted polenta this amazing. The wine was excellent, the tea was excellent, and they even have their own organic vodka. I can't rave enough about how good the food was.

Still, why only 4 stars? Well, the portions are on the smaller side and the meal came to a whopping $60 for two people. Seriously pricey, but seriously tasty.

So, if you are looking for a nice small restaurant for a dinner date, or perhaps for a somewhat high-end vegetarian lunch, then this is your place.

And meat-free!!

------

After eating here again, the food just blew me away...again...so hey, 5

Carnivores will assume they're getting the raw end of the deal at Leaf, but this serene shrine to Feng Shui trumpets a versatile kitchen with spring in its step. Tour the map-spanning menu emphasizing organic, all vegetarian ingredients and broaden your horizons with guacamole smashed with fresh artichokes, white bean cake, and red curry coconut cream, fig and apricot somosas sided with a trio of chutneys, and beet gnocchi bolstered with feta, kale, shallots, and grape nage.

The restaurant also pours eco-friendly wines and martinis concocted with Boulder-made organic vodka.

As you walk in, you are greeted with a small, friendly atmosphere that quickly makes you feel comfortable.  Lots of great touches: the metal tree motif wrapped around a glass divider, leaf designs on the chairs, lots of healthy houseplants, and stylish place settings.  The menu wanders all over with no apparent need to make a commitment to any region or style of food, but it all sounds wonderful.

Drinks were only okay: hibiscus cooler is rather bland and not as special as it sounds.  Mint lemonade is delicious but the huge chunks of mint kept coming up the straw.  The "thai lemondrop" and "posmo" weren't the tastiest concoctions.

The house-made fococcia was fairly good, particularly the sprinkling of australian black river salt.  Poblano-potato soup was tasty, but too thin, and the sliced green onions overpowered a rather subtle soup.

The Indian curry was quite good, and a huge portion.  A nice mix of vegetables with good cream-based curry and a dollop of rice.  Thin break that looked remarkably identical to their pizza crusts accompanied it, which was a disappointment in itself, and certainly did not go with the curry.

As others have said, the Thai mango curry is a little dull and not well put together: far too much thin broth and huge vegetables for you to cut.

The chocolate cake dessert was a disappointment, as most vegan cakes are.  You just have to break a few eggs...

As a newcomer to Boulder I was suprised at the relatively few vegetarian only restaurants in town.  I guess Boulderites have gone through the whole vegetarian phase and emerged craving artisanal meat.

I haven't had a full meal here - but I have been to their happy hours, which used to be vegan, but now includes a fair number of dairy inflected dishes.

Don't have the hibiscus drink (or anything that requires too much mixing on the part of the wait staff).  The three appetizers I had were delicious - especially the satay with mango coulis. Yum!

I will update once I actually sit down here to dine.

Ack! I was so excited to review Leaf that I hit enter and made an empty review! That is how good it was.

I must have gone when a different person made the artichoke heart guacamole than when a previous Yelper tried it, becase that was my favorite part of Leaf. As a meat eater who appreciates vegetarian food for its health benefits and yumminess, I love it when vegetarian restaurants come up with great things like this artichoke heart guacamole- not too trendy and inaccessible to the non-vegetarian, but still delicious for everyone around the table.

My tongue hurts from eating lunch here yesterday. Seriously. My dish, the Jamaican Jerk Tempeh was sooo salty. Really salty. Like my tongue hurts salty. The black rice and the coconut sauce were awesome and not salty, it was just the tempeh and the greens SALTY. Have I mentioned the salt. My husband tasted it too and he thought someone made a mistake and measured ingredients wrong. I don't know what the issue was but I agree it was wrong. My husband had the Blackened Tofu and Veggie Sandwich with sweet potato fries, he liked it but commented that I would think it was boring. I stole several fries and they were pretty darn good, in keeping with my review though, a touch too much salt. Even for lunch the presentation of both dishes was really pretty. I have to say that it was a lot of fun to look at vegetarian menu! I have been a vegetarian for 22 of my 33 years and I very rarely have so many options at a restaurant! I liked that I didn't have to be concerned about my food being cooked on a grill right after a steak. The decor is earthy with a touch of Zen with a very open feel to the space. Let me tell you now this is not the place to have a private conversation. We were sitting near the center of the restaurant and I could hear every single conversation in there. It wasn't overly loud though. It would be a cool place to eat when the weather is warmer as it appears they have the really large windows that open the entire space up to the outdoors.  I would forgive the salt and try it again.

[UPDATE] Since my first review of this restaurant, I have to remove 2 stars.  I've been there 3 times since for lunch and dinner, and each time the service has been very slow, and food arrived just warm, so that halfway through eating it was getting cold.  This is not a good thing to be consistent about.  Likewise, "bland" seems to be a consistent range of flavoring for dishes that should be spicy/flavorful.  Leaf could deserve 3 stars for the effort to be a classier place, but they need to get their act together about service and timing.

[Old review]
I've been to Leaf twice for lunch, so please consider this a lunch-only review. Dinner, brunch and happy hour may differ.  Service at lunch is slower than ideal--each time, I found myself wanting my lunch to arrive long before it actually did.  Service is friendly and prompt, so I suspect that the delay on food is in the kitchen itself.

Lunch entrees are $8, $9 or $10, and the price includes (in the case of sandwiches) sweet potato fries, potato salad or a market salad (which is actually local).  Appetizers are $6.

For my first lunch, I had the Seitan Ruben with sweet potato fries -- it was really tasty and very filling.  The toasted bread of the sandwich didn't get soggy from either the kraut or the seitan & sauce, even on the plate side.  All textures worked well together, and flavors were balanced nicely between savory, sweet and sour.  My only criticism is that I'd personally like a little more sauerkraut, but that's my particular taste.

The sweet potato fries were fries, not chips nor chunks nor steak fries, but just the normal sized sort of french fries you'd get at any restaurant.  They were the absolute epitome of sweet potato fries, so if you like that sort of thing that's enough reason to go to Leaf.

My friend had the Artichoke Po Boy and one of the soups of the day (broccoli cheddar cheese soup) and proclaimed both excellent.  I noticed that the soup looked to be richly textured, rather than just chunky or pureed, so I should have tried a spoonful when offered it, but I was too enamored of the ruben at the moment.

I noticed someone nearby having what looked like a delightful plate of noodles, and everything that I saw come out of the kitchen looked very appetizing.  The food is nicely presented and the portions I saw look to be large for my appetite level.  I wasn't able to finish my lunch, nor was my friend, so we boxed up leftovers for later.

We both got out of there for just under $10 each, which is more than I usually want to spend on lunch, but fine for occasional noshing.  For the upscale atmosphere and presentation, $10 for lunch is a deal.

On my second lunch, I had the Thai Mango Curry.  It was nicely presented, cooked perfectly, and tasted good, but it's not a well-composed dish when it comes to the texture of its components and their pairing. For example, the chef's choice of broth with the rice noodles wasn't a good one--the threadlike noodles need a stickier, thicker or drier sauce, which is why you'll find them served as such at any Thai restaurant.  The brothy sauce made it a bit slurpy and sloppy to eat as well as difficult to get a forkful of the slippery noodles.  Also, the large chunks of bok choy, tofu and sweet potato look great plated with the noodles, but it's difficult to cut cooked bok choy into forkable pieces with a table knife.  Along the same lines, the sauce lacked sufficient punch (why call it Thai if it's not spicy?) to counter the beige blandness of the tofu, although it was perfect with the sweet potato.

From a contextual perspective, I'd say this is one of the better restaurants in Boulder, but not perfect for the critical palate of a foodie. I'll definitely go there again to try other menu offerings as well as their happy hour.

I liked this place. I had the Philadelphia cheese steak. The seitan was very tasty. I had the sweet potato fries and they were very tasty; actually just extremely yummy. It was a simple quick vegetarian lunch. The service was good.

I'm not even a vegetarian and I loved every dish that I've eaten here.

This wonderful vegetarian restaurant combines the pleasure of fine dining with the comfort of casual dining.  The dining room is peaceful and beautifully decorated.  About a dozen tables plus bar seating is available.  The menu includes a nice selection of small plates as well as regular entrees and entree-sized salads.  The staff is attentive without being overbearing.  The seitan (I recommend the BBQ seitan entree) is among the best I've ever had--it is not too chewy or grainy as it is sometimes served elsewhere.  The entry area is the tiniest bit cramped, as is the route to the bathroom (I recommend the foliage be moved so one doesn't have to duck on the way to the toilets).  Excellent vegetarian food in a nice setting encourages repeat visits.  Those who know the Boulder vegetarian scene may find Leaf preferable to the also excellent Sunflower, as unlike the latter Leaf is not imbued with a sense of macrobiotic-holistic, health-induced vegetarian dining.  It's just yummy food presented in a lovely way.  Vegans will want to keep an eye out for Leaf's vegan happy hour.  Leaf is located just a couple of blocks from the bustling Pearl Street Mall, so it is within easy walking distance for folks strolling Boulder's downtown.

visiting my brother in boulder this weekend, I was basically prepared to be ordering a lot of salads. Not the case at all! boulder has so much yummy animal free food, that I actually felt sickly full all weekend.  leaf is the millenium, green zebra animal of boulder, co. who knew? but yes, the outdoorsy chillax city of boulder has an amazing chic vegetarian restaurant with a water fall, dim lighting and earthy plants. The artichoke gaucamole with white bean cake and red coconut curry was SOOO unbelievable and the jerk tempeh jamaican style with black rice was also a stunner. vegan carrot cake w cream cheese frosting and an entire menu of loose leaf teas for dessert made for a perrrfect evening. just talking about it is making me hungry and on a saturday night, there was no wait for a table. (of course there was a line for colores pizza and king fallafel next door)  what more can you ask for?

What  treat.  Delicious food, beautiful ambience.  Service was excellent.  Not the kind of vegetarian/vegan food I make at home--jerk tempeh, unbelievable VEGAN french toast, tempeh skewers, lots of tofu entrees, all sounded so tasty.
