I don't seek out facials, really, I visited this spa during Seattle "Spa Week". Figured that everyone needs a little pampering, right? While filling out that questionnaire you have to sign in the beginning, there was the question something like "what type of facial treatment are you looking for: pampering, pampering & clinical, clinical". I opted for the "pampering & clinical". I was curious about what type of treatment I would receive.

Turns out, it was just what I was looking for. Holly was wonderful in her approach to asking questions and filling me in with her way of answering. During the facial, she would occasionally comment on something she noticed, or ask a question about my eating habits or health history. She was calm in her approach, so I definitely felt pampered through the treatment - it wasn't like I was at the doctor's office, so I left feeling very well treated and informed. I was very comfortable asking questions (like "so why is my face so greasy right now?), and she did a good job answering me in a way I could understand. I don't have a grasp really on my epidermis, sorry.

I appreciated that Holly didn't "push" her products on me. She offered them up (and they're local - Redmond, WA) but I didn't get a big sales pitch. At the end of my time there, I left excited about my experience and will definitely return for a follow-up visit and recommend Leaf and Water to my friends.

I like to think I look good, but I'm open to the possibility that I don't look as good as I think.  So, I scheduled a microdermabrasion appointment with Holly.  But after a quick consultation, she agreed and recommended facials over microderm.  Yay!  (I love the fact that she didn't up-sell me, but instead recommended what she felt was best for my skin!)

The facial was gentle, her explanations thorough.  The massage work  (face, neck, chest) that came along with it was a nice bonus.  I like the fact that my skin looks and feels lovely without the use of loads of chemicals or other toxic things.

And the best part - when it was time to leave, she didn't push a bunch of products.  She asked if I wanted suggestions.  I said yes.  She showed me the things she thought would be best, recommended adding only one thing at a time (for my skin but also because that way they don't all run out at the same time and cost a fortune to replace).  And better yet, was perfectly nice when I didn't buy another or reschedule right away.  (I hate pressure sales and bookings!)

Will be recommending Holly and Leaf and Water to several friends and plan to be back for a variety of her treatments!

Before I made an appt with Holly (Leaf and Water's owner) I met her clients (Leaf and Water is in the same studio complex as my yoga class).  Holly's clients all had beautiful, radiant skin.  They literally GLOWED.  I complimented one of her clients and this adorable young woman was so touched.  She said Holly saved her from her severely red splotchy skin.  I know this sounds dramatic but seriously folks, who doesn't want a little saving from looking all broken out and not great?  I promptly made an appointment for my tired, dry, sensitive, slightly partied out skin (I like my wine).
My appt was awesome and very relaxing.  Holly is sweet and sensitive but more importantly she is a professional with an agenda: to figure out what's wrong with an individual's skin and fix it.  She's more a scientist than an aesthetician to me right now.
Why I'm excited to keep working with Holly:
1)She's OBSESSED with ingredients how they work with an individual's skin.  She's clear about not overwhelming our largest organ , and instead bringing it to optimal health.
2) She asks holistic questions about diet and allergies and what your expectations are from your skin.
3) All natural products that aren't a million dollars.  Not cheap- but justifiable.  I like that Holly didn't assume I could buy all her recommendations and made a point to tell me her #1, 2, 3 and 4 suggestions for me so I could be clear how to add new products in when I had cash in my pocket.

This was one of the best facials I've had.   The use of organic and chemical free skin care is of the utmost importance to me and Holly's Leaf and Water fit the bill.   My skin was absolutely glowing for days aftewards and I had peace of mind that her products were high quality. As a  nutritionist/dietitian, with a very holistic approach myself,  the fact that I could practically eat any of the stuff going onto my face was a delight!  Take the time to check out and sample her services. Her warmth and expertise shine through.

About This Business

Specialties

Skin problems are caused by imbalances that reflect irritations or deficiencies.  This can result in   sensitivities, acne, inflammation, dry skin, hyper-pigmentation or premature aging.  Our holistic approach takes the imbalances into account and addresses them at their root causes.  Through a regimen of treatments and natural ingredients, our naturopathic experience shows that you can reach your skin care goals.

History

Established in 2007

Leaf and Water was began with the idea that beautiful skin is healthy skin and that healthy skin is best achieved via natural methods.  By natural methods I mean customized holistic skin treatments, natural skincare products, internal detoxification, supplementation and diet recommendations.  These methods address long-term health of skin cells from the inside out and outside in.  And is why I call Leaf and Water "Skincare for your health".

Over the years clients have come to me frustrated from having tried many unsuccessful skincare treatments and products.  When these clients transitioned to holistic skincare their acne healed and was staying healed, their sensitivities resolved and stayed resolved, their hyper-pigmentation dramatically diminished and stayed diminished, and signs of aging reversed and stayed reversed.

As the years go on, I look to the future with excitement in knowing that I will be helping more people achieve long-term holistic skin health!
