I love this place!!
Ok,i got this Groupon deal for hot jade stone massage and ironic foot massage (not sure if the name is correct). I was expecting some easy job from this place with hot stones rubbing around my back. WRONG!! The girl who massaged me, Meagan, she KILLED me in all the right way!! :D I really really needed a deep tissue massage because working in front of the computer every day. She asked me if i wanted to focused on any particular area. Then she really massaged hard on those areas. Great pressure, she knew exactly what she was doing. After the great massage, she put hot and cold jade stone on my hands, back and neck...soooooooo good!!!
Besides, the place looks super posh!! I love the fact that i had to go through a path from the garden to get to the massage room. Super nice! :DComment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 9/13/2011

I bought a Gilt City Voucher for a Couples Massage to use by Oct. 8th.
I called yesterday to try to book it for this Saturday. Yes, probably a tad late for this week but it should not have gone as it did!
1st call - I was put on hold for about 10 minutes -- no one ever came back.
2nd call - and extremely rushed sounding girl answered the phone. I mentioned Gilt City and her tone changed to drip rushed disdain. "Do you have the Voucher Number" she demanded. I read the voucher # and then inquired about Saturday. "Oh, no. Our Saturday's book 3 weeks in advance." I told her I would have to call her back. It IS a couples massage -- kinda need to check dates with my boyfriend.
3rd call - New voice on phone -- not rushed - much more spa like. Mentioned Gilt City. No disdain. Gave her a Saturday 3 weeks away. No go. Booked. All Day. Irony of ironies - the first available Saturday they have is the first one after the voucher expires 6 weeks from now. Hmmmm. I ask if they will still honor the voucher. "Oh no. Can't do that since there's availability during the week." I tell her some of us have to work and continue on to say I'm going to call Gilt City for a refund and go on Yelp and give them ANOTHER crappy review . (yes - between phone call 2 and 3 I read some yelp reviews). Nope, still can't honor the voucher. Bye bye...
4th call -- to Gilt City -- LOVE GILT CITY - before I've even finished the story I have a refund in my email.
BTW this wasn't cheap. I paid $175 for the couples massage -- Yes it's a VERY good deal $ wise and a huge savings but isn't the point of these deals to bring in repeat business?
5th - call - this time it's the phone on my desk ringing. Ah, cripes I know that number, it's the spa. Too late. Refund has been received. Let it go to voice mail. Bailey -- 2nd person I spoke to, leaves a message "I talked to my manager and the manager has been able to "rearrange" some of this Saturday's appointments and you can come in then."
WOW really -- you "rearranged" spa appointments? or perhaps you had availability??? I'm going with they were lying about being booked until the 15th...
Liar, liar -- pants on fire...Comment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 9/13/2011

Le Petite, don't think you were going to be left off the hook with my review. I purchased this spa as a gift while in Iraq serving in the military.
I thought it'd be a great place, with great employees considering the price. It was neither, and it was actually a horrid place, with bad customer service. Apart from having to pay for the gratuity up front, they actually hurt and rushed through the whole retreat experience.
After trying to reach them bout said experience several times while still in Iraq, I gave up on them! But having paid handsomely for this to be an ultimate birthday gift, it was totally not worth it at all!!!
Who asks for gratuity up front anyway? Apparently they do, because they must know they wont receive a penny after their poor service. What a shame!
DO NOT COME HERE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE SUPPOSED RETREAT!Comment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 10/7/2011

NIGHTMARE, NIGHTMARE, NIGHTMARE.
I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing a Travelzoo voucher for this merchant. Everything you read here is TRUE. Their scams, poor attitude and general lack of customer service is consistent across the board.
A girlfriend and I purchased the vouchers for the bath and a massage from Travelzoo in MARCH. Since that time, we have made multiple attempts to make a appointment to use our vouchers.
When you call, no one answers the phone --- seriously. Every time. You have to leave a message. But, don't bother --- cause no one is going to call you back anyway.
I finally resorted to trying to make an appointment on-line. I did get an email back, confirming my appointment, but said I would have to call the spa and provide a CC# to hold our appointment spot. No problem, I've come across this PLENTY in LA. So, I email back asking WHEN they would like me to call (smart, right?)
I call on Monday at the agreed upon time. "Monique" answers the phone. I kid you not, she puts me on HOLD at least 3 times during this 11 minute conversation. First off, she has no idea why I'm calling. I gave her my name, again --- and then I tell her I'm calling with CC information to secure an appointment for the following Monday.
This is where things get ugly. I find out that the HOURS posted on-line are really NOT their hours and they just kind of make things up as they go along. Mondays are open ONLY for making appointments. No spa services are available on Monday.
So, I try to make an appointment for Saturday. I'm told that Saturdays are only open for group parties. Sunday?? Nope. Only for parties and filming.
I ask "Monique" when I am able to make an appointment. She suggests that Wednesday. Impossible. She then suggests an appointment for the following week which I am also not able to make. Had I known that this spa was NOT open Mondays, I would have never purchased this voucher. Mondays are usually my only consistent day off.
Monique then asks me what services I'm having done --- I tell her it's the Travelzoo voucher. You're going to LOVE this ---- she then tells me I can ONLY come on Wednesdays from 2-4pm or something equally ridiculous. She then offers me an appointment almost 3 months away.... when my voucher is good and EXPIRED.
Needless to say --- I contacted the management. It's very clear that they are unwilling to honor my voucher. I politely ask for a refund. I am also convinced, from the piss-poor attitude of "Monique" that my friend and I will not be receiving quality service at this facility. She promptly declines and says "good luck getting your money back from Travelzoo".
Whatever.
....Travelzoo is also pending a review regarding this matter.
But, I digress.
I did end up getting my money back, but only after I disputed the claim on my CC for services paid for but not received. I really wish I would have read the reviews on-line for this pathetic excuse for a spa before I bought the voucher. -

I really thought this place was fantastic! The only downfall is that it's pricey. The hubby booked us a hot jade couples massage with the copper tub. The amenities were great. Since we were their on a Saturday morning, we were offered mimosa and there were a limited selection of snacks and beverages in the reception area. The copper tub was relaxing and the massage was divine. I can't wait to go back for more.

BEWARE!!!!!!! i recently bought a Groupon certificate for this spa and when i called to redeem it, the incredible rude and unprofessional receptionist (seriously -- in a city with 1,000 day spas you'd think they'd up their game) basically told me that the only days and time i could come in would be a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday at 2. The reason why -- and wait till you hear this -- is because they save lunch time appointments for regulars and after 4pm or Sundays, they are not open to the public, only big groups or for "filming"... When i reminded her that their website and the Groupon offer doesn't indicate a 2p- 4p window, Weds - Fri and that they need to change their website -- YELP SHOULD DEFINITELY CHANGE BUSINESS HOURS TO REFELECT WHAT THEY TELL YOU WHEN YOU CALL -- she said, "oh no, we just tell people our hours when they call". What?? Shut up.
Needless to say, i called Groupon and they refunded my money before i even finished my story. This place is a joke and i feel bad for any technician's working there...Comment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 10/13/2011

I was a little apprehensive going to this day spa after reading all the negative reviews. But a good friend of mine decided to pamper me and set up 2 services for me: a hydrotherapy bath and a jade stone massage.
I went there today on a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn't too busy. The place is small compared to your other day spas like Burke or Voda Spa, but Le Petite does have charm. The receptionist, Monique, was nice.
My first treatment, the bath, was ummm... interesting. I'm not a big fan of baths at a day spa, but I figure why not enjoy this free day and relax a bit. The tub was basically an enormous jacuzzi with bubbles and jets. It was OK. After 15 mins of soaking in it I decided to get out. My fingers and toes were pruning. I would recommend the bath if you're doing a couples thing because the whole time I was thinking... I need a man to sit in this tub with.
My next treatment was the jade stone massage. Oh LORD... this was the most amazing 80 minutes of my life. Jason, my therapist, was great at concentrating on the areas I had the most muscle tension and knots. By the end of the 80 minutes I felt like jello. I was seriously in Tibetan heaven. Getting the jade stone massage alone is worth coming back to this little place. I think getting the 50 minute treatment would be too short - go ahead and splurge for the extra 30 minutes.
Part of my spa package was private use of their sauna. Yep, private. No one but myself and my lady lovelies got to lay naked all by our lonesome. I had such a great day!Comment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 10/13/2011

Review from Mary Q.
Like many others, I got the Groupon for the Jade Stone Massage and Ionic Foot Bath. I had actually researched jade stone massages about a year ago after getting a hot stone massage in Thailand and wondering if a jade stone massage existed. As far as I can see (and true to Le Petite Retreat's claim), they're the only ones in LA who offer this service. I was thrilled when they showed up on Groupon and immediately got this service, which I had wanted for awhile. Now that I've had it, I know that there will be times when I want it enough to pay the price.
I've had back problems for a couple of years now, ever since I threw out my back while traveling in Italy in the winter. I tried physical therapy and acupuncture and a variety of other solutions (granted, only half-heartedly), but none worked to fix the issue. I improved a bit but was not restored to my original strength. After this massage, my back felt SO much better and I was able to carry heavy groceries without an aching back! Then again, maybe it was the ionic foot bath...
The footbath was interesting - I just sat there and watched the color of the water turn into an orange shade, then compared with the chart they had and found that that corresponds to toxins releasing from my joints. The water started to smell kind of iron-y, either from the toxins or the metal plate things that they put in the water to draw out the toxins. I'm not entirely convinced I believe in the ionic footbath, but it worked enough as a placebo effect to make it worth it for people with real issues.
I'd definitely go back for the Jade Stone Massage and try to get that guy again, I think his name is Michael? Oh, and this was my first time having a masseur vs. a masseuse and I felt that he was very respectful and did not make me feel uncomfortable at any time. He was also really good and made me really relaxed. The receptionist wasn't extremely friendly, but she wasn't too aloof either. Service could have been better on that front, but the important part - the massage - was great.Comment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 10/20/2011

Alright. I have mixed feelings.
I will say that the facial I got from Nathalie was the first facial I have got from anyone besides the Sonya Dakar skin clinic and ... it was quite good. I will admit I am a bit of a snob when it comes to my beauty regime and I left with some glowing brighter skin. And looked fine later that evening to go to dinner.
She even massaged the tootsies and hands. Quite relaxing compared to Sonya's medicinal facial.
I won't say the negative because I think everyone should be given the opportunity to grow and we'll just leave it at that.
I recommend Nathalie's facial with fruit acid and glycolic.

I was looking for a new spa place for my mom and was thrilled to see a deal on travelzoo for Le Petite Spa. I thought the location was convenient and pictures on-line looked cute.
Overall, my mom thought the facial was nice but the service was nothing special. The lady who greeted us, who I presume to be the owner, seemed snobby and did not even ask how anything went. I feel like these services are offered anywhere else and what brings someone back is exceptional customer service. I was disappointed that all the great reviews were not true or they are exclusive to regulars or celebrities.
Revision:
Upon writing this review, I received a call from Shelly, the manager, at Le Petite. She apologized for her behavior by saying she was very busy that day. She went on to explain some of the circumstances and offered to give us a complimentary service to make up for the previous disappointment. I wanted to clarify a couple of things. The esthetician, Meredith was great. She was sweet and explained patiently the process to my mom, who was not fluent in English. The receptionist was fine too. What made the spa experience interesting was Shelly's demeanor. I understand she was busy but I feel that is no excuse for a manager to ignore a customer especially when you make eye contact. The language barrier may be an excuse for my mom but it doesn't apply to me. I felt the same discomfort. I am changing the rating from a 2 star to a 3 star for Meredith who was actually the best part of the spa experience. The missing stars are for Shelly. I think it's great she wants to make up for it but that's what a manager should initially be aiming for when a new client arrives. I am still disappointed and won't be returning. For a service that costs so much, I feel it's appropriate for the clients to expect a certain degree of quality. -

These people are apparently (according to my dear darling mother) saying they will give a CREDIT for services (and not any products mind you) AND ONLY IF I TAKE DOWN MY REVIEW!!!!! WTF?!?!?
Um, hi, it doesn't work that way. See, IN BUSINESS, people give you money, and you give them a service or product, or they don't have to pay you! What a concept!!!
My mom never received her facial--and by the time the facialist was FINALLY ready, it was soo late that it would have thrown our whole schedule for the day out of whack.
Any other business would have apologized for wasting our time and given a full refund on the spot. Instead, they are bullying their totally on-time customers who gave them money for NOTHING.
In addition to making people come ridiculously early, they should also tell people that they must be prepared to stay inordinately late.
Your move, pet.

i went to Le Petite Retreat Spa to get waxed because I didn't have time to go all the way across town to my usual place. The spa itself is very tranquil, and they have parking in front, which is good in Larchmont. I cannot speak to their massage services, but their waxing left a lot to be desired.
The waxing experience is not one I'd soon repeat, I asked that my eyebrows be "cleaned up" and I ended up resembling Joan Crawford (not so flattering on a round Asian face) and the skin on my underarms was missing in places, hairy in others. Add to that the fact that it was twice as expensive as my usual place, and you have one not so stellar review. -

Easily the worst spa ever. Tiny changing space and smaller showers. Stone massage is a rip off and nothing about this is worth $180 for terrible service and a poor massage. Prego lady was complaining in the waiting room that they didn't give her preggo treatment and wanted her to lie on her stomach. Should have known then this was going to suck. Sure did. I will never go back. Ever.

it's embarrassing. There you are, lying totally exposed and vulnerable letting a complete stranger put hot sticky wax on your, um, well you get the gist. I can think of so, so many things i'd rather do besides this, including things that entail Michael Bay movies, Oxnard, and sharp objects near my eyes.
What's great about this place is that they make you feel totally comfortable and as relaxed as you can be without slipping you happy pills. She is quick about it without being careless, and you'll be in and out of there faster than you can say hairy minded pink bare bear. -

My daughter and I got a groupon spa day with Le Petite Retreat. It was really lovely. We had an ionic foot soak and then a hot jade massage. Michael was my therapist and he was wonderful. I think that the blend of hot and cold stone made the session magical.
I'm not sure where all the negative comments are coming from, I can say we had a really great afternoon. I prefer to give my therapists a cash tip, but I understand that often times with discount packages, newbie customers may not know how to tip so it is common practice for vendors to pre-pay tips and tax to ensure the therapists get tipped properly on discounted packages. The owners of the spa are offering a deal, but don't cheat the workers, okay? Okay...Comment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 9/9/2010

I like this place b/c it's not some super fancy spa that's way overpriced and pretentious. It has a cozy feel..it's tucked away in a location that looks like a residential property along Larchmont, but you know you're in a spa when you walk inside. The decor is Zen-inspired all around. They have separate locker rooms for m/f, showers, changing rooms, and a waiting room that looks like a large living room. The ceiling is covered in shoji screen..my friend and I thought that was a nice finishing touch to the atmosphere.
My friend and I joined the detoxing craze and decided to get detoxing treatments. We started off with the Jade Stone Massage Therapy which is one of the spa's signature treatments. For $150 your bod is "massaged with alternating hot and cool energetic Jade Stones to remove accumulated toxins from stress, so muscles can naturally heal and nourish themselves holistically." -- from website
It felt so much better than just hands massaging your body. The rocks create great pressure and the heat and cold really relaxes the muscles. You get kind of stunned when they put the cold on you after the intense heat but it feels good!
After the massage, we both got Ionic Detoxing Foot Baths, another one of their most popular treatments. Now this was veeerry interesting. You gotta take a look at their website and see the sped up time lapse of the 30 min treatment. You dunk your feet into this foot bath and they turn the color that your body is detoxing from.
The link below shows the chart that shows what organs are being detoxified depending on what color your water turns.
http://www.lprdayspa.c...
I'm a little skeptical of this treatment but it was a cool experience. I mean, can you really detoxify your body from just your feet? I doubt that. Who knows? Well, mine turned an orange with black specks which meant I was detoxifying from my joints and draining heavy metals from my body (better stop eating canned food eh?). 30 min for $85.Listed in: Operation Pamper

La Petite Retreat is cozy and tucked in a little corner of Los Angeles where no longer feel the rush of the city. Waiting and locker rooms are clean and well decorated.
Spa Treatments: 4 stars
Service: 3 stars.. barely.
Of course a facialist will try to upsell products to you... however, when she insinuates that you are too cheap to buy their products and then tries to sell you something that is "cheaper for your budget"... is really insulting.
Other than that... my boyfriend got me a certificate two years ago and I was not able to get the services he ordered because the prices had changed. Instead of the massage, bath, and facial, I had to pay $80 more for just the massage and facial... sigh. The hot stone massage was wonderful but the facial I could have done without.... next time I'll just rub lotion all over my face and say how poor my skin looks. -

I received a Groupon (discounted gift certificates) for LPRDS which included a 60 min Jade Stone Massage and a Ionic Foot Bath from my wife for my birthday. I had a great time and my wife did too. I liked the small feel to it as well.
The massage was great. We had never had a hot and cold stone message before. It was very relaxing to say the least. I must say that they have the hottest stone around... but they move them so quickly that they never burn your skin, but just get you close to that feeling!
I have read other reports about the "gratuity" prior to service. While I feel that I tip well for the services I receive at other places (being a big guy as it is, I know how much work goes into messaging THIS sized body!!!) I feel that there is a good reason for it. By making it known, you limit the cheap people that will use this coupon and only tip a little. A small price to pay, but it is fair because it is across the board. I think the owner would be willing to listen if you truely felt that you didn't get the service expected.
Have no worries though, you will have a pleasant experience! Thanks LPRDS for everything!!!!! -

I loved it;
My boyfriend got us the package deal for my birthday a couple of years ago, and we had great massages and an even better champagne bath. It was awesome. I almost passed out though, it felt like there was no ventilation.
I got a male masseuse, my bf got a female. My masseuse got a little too touchy feel-y- i thought it was normal, but my boyfriend didn't seem to think so and consequently got pissed.
It was a great experience though; very relaxing. I would absolutely, positively go back. -

I received a Groupon (discounted gift certificate) for LPRDS which included a 60 min Jade Stone Massage and a Ionic Foot Bath. I am an avid fan of massage, and I go almost weekly (and sometimes even more often that that!). After receiving the certificate, I, naturally, Yelped the spa and was SHOCKED! at the LOW LOW ratings. In fact, I was a bit scared. REST ASSURED PEOPLE, THIS PLACE IS PRETTY AWESOME! Do NOT go by these other peoples' experiences, as I can assure you that I am as cruel and cut-throat of a reviewer as the rest of them, and this place is one of the BETTER spas in L.A.
Massage: my masseur Michael was REALLY solid. If you are afraid of your massuer going too deep, do not fear, this massage is deep enough yet VERY relaxing, and the warm stones are awesome. In fact, I prefer a deeper massage, but I was too relaxed to ask for deeper. That being said, today, I'm slighly soar but in a GOOD way. The massage table was honestly the nicest, most comfortable that I've been on. And teh 60 min massage seemed to last much longer than 60 min.
Foot soak: I was a bit skeptical about this. I saw the video on the website and was excited to see it. I've been having joint problems in my knee, and the foot water turned ORANGE = join detox! I honestly feel better already.
Why not a 5 star? Well, for starters, the prices. Although I had an AMAZING deal with my groupon, I doubt I'll be paying regular prices any time in the near future. Second, the rquired gratuity before you even come in (they charge your credit card). Although a lot of people do this, I'm not a fan - don't get me wrong, I'm a generous tipper and would have tipped accordingly. Finally, my foot soak was done in a communal room, and coincidentally, the aquarium maintainance guy was cleaning out the saltwater tank during my foot soak. It was a very slow day (they actually accomodated me on their regular closed day), and there were plently of procedure rooms available. they could have easily put me in my private room to relax with my soak.Comment from Ron K. of Le Petite Retreat Day Spa 6/4/2010

I had a facial on a weekday morning.
PROS:
-Owner on premises, endeavors to provide a quality experience
-No tipping problems like others have reported. I tipped after the treatment with cash in an envelope.
-Cost: cheaper than my preferred esthetician
-Location - I can walk there
-Facilities - fireplace, sauna (which I have not used)
-Treatments - the esthetician used high quality products to create a custom treatment for my face and included a massage
-The esthetician did not try to sell me products when I told her I was happy with my skin care routine
CONS:
-Esthetician was sick
-Esthetician did not seem to be very knowledgeable or experienced
-No one explained the facilities to me or the first timer who was also at the spa the day that I went
-No receipt -

My girlfriend and I went to Le Petite Retreat for our anniversary. The staff was great, the owner even gave us a tour of the facilities. You can tell she loves her job!
So we started in their quiet room, and chilled out with warm herbal neck rolls and downed the free spa water. Can't say enought about our massage therapists, they were amazingly talented. In fact, we were smiling for days. We finished with the Champagne Bath together and it set up for a great night (know what I mean fellas?).
We really can not say anything bad about the spa or our experience. We were there for about 4.5 hours and when we left we felt that we had been on vacation for a week. -

Now that I have had my Le Petit experience I can share my opinion. The place itself was very quaint and charming. My husband and I had a gift certificate for a Jade Stone Massage which we thought included the couples champagne bath. We assumed this from reading the on-line descriptions. When we got there they said they were getting our bath ready and then said it didn't include the bath (even though they had already started it). That was a bit dissapointing, but since we didn't buy the massage we can't really complain...although we kind of had to buy it since they automatically charged $77 to our credit card for tip. We had the Jade stone massage which was relaxing but didn't involve the deep tissue kneeding I like in order to actually get the knots out of my muscles. The next day I didn't really feel any difference in my muscles.
I have to admit I was a little put off with all the clip outs of magazine mentions that saturate the place. It seems they have gone a bit overboard with the self-marketing.
A decent experience but wouldn 't spend any of my own money on it (except for the pre-charged tip of course)1 Previous Review: Show all »

Scanning over these poor reviews reminds me of a terrible experience my wife had at this spa 4 or 5 years ago. For our anniversary I purchased her a gift certificate based upon the cost of a massage, a facial, and a salt bath, and the spa wrote these three items directly on the gift certificate so that my wife would know exactly what I had gotten her. My wife was thrilled, and scheduled her appointment.
When the day arrived, she handed them the gift certificate and began with a massage. During the massage she was asked whether she would like for them to use hot rocks as well. She thought that sounded wonderful, so she said yes. Here's where all the trouble started. After the massage was complete my wife was then told that she no longer had enough remaining on her gift certificate for the other two treatments because the "warm stone" part of the massage she'd just received was an additional cost. If she still wanted all three treatments she would now have to pay more.
My wife felt TERRIBLE, she had no idea that there would be any additional charge for adding the stones, and the additional cost was never mentioned when it was offered to her. In the moment she just thought the masseuse was being gracious and giving her options.
Myself, I was FURIOUS. I spoke with the owner multiple times, and complained. I explained that I had expressly purchased my wife three treatments so that she could have a really wonderful day at the spa, with a real feeling of just getting away from it all and being pampered. I was then told that the gift certificates were general, and could be used in any way that the bearer wanted them, and that my wife had chosen a more expensive massage. I understood that, but I reminded the owner that we SPECIFICALLY WROTE THE THREE TREATMENTS ON THE FACE OF THE GIFT CERTIFICATE so that my wife would know what I had planned for her. The owner didn't care, though she offered some sort of compromise, a bath or something, I can't exactly recall what it was. I, however, just wanted my wife to have the 3 specific treatments I had paid for. That's all I asked for. My wife even told them EXACTLY what she was there for that day, and told them EXACTLY what treatments she wanted when she scheduled the appointment. THEY were the ones who then tried to change it and talk her into something else, all the while never explaining the added cost.
No dice, the owner wouldn't do it. To this day, anytime a conversation turns to massages and great spas in LA, my wife and I spread the word to avoid Le Petite Retreat. It still boggles my mind that the owner wouldn't honor the gift certificate's intentions. Why push customers away like that? Now that I see all the Petite Retreat reviews on Yelp, I realize this is just how she does business.
5 years ago I didn't have Yelp to warn people of my experience, but it's never too late. -

This yelp is regarding the really good experience I had with http://www.lprdayspa.com
I wanted to book an appointment the other day for the spa, and I thought I would check out the website to see what treatment I was in the mood for... it was a toss up between a massage and a facial, so I chose the jade stone massage...
Anyways, I used the website to book my treatment, which was really neat. I think that I got an email back in like 25 minutes and a phone call to follow-up. I really dig their website, everything you need to know is on there, and you can book your spa treatment in like a minute! Def recommend checking it out...

I must admit that after purchasing the groupon for this spa as a gift to my husband, I was afraid that I had made a mistake. Reviews are mixed with most either loving or hating the spa. Most problems stemmed from gift card restrictions, scheduling issues, and timing/parking problems.
I spoke to the owner before purchasing the groupon and had no trouble scheduling immediately after purchase. No reminder calls were given, so make sure you record your appointment info. Yes, there are only four parking spots in front of the spa and some street parking, but we had not trouble grabbing a parking spot. Contrary to other reviewers' fears/experiences, we didn't feel that we were treated differently because we had a groupon and were not full-price-paying customers; we truly had a wonderful experience.
We were asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to our treatment appointment and, like many others, ended up waiting quite some time in the lounge before we were given the ionic foot bath treatment... in the public lounge. We were excited to see what colors our water might change to, but were disappointed when nothing happened. This treatment, in my opinion, is a gimmick.
Next, we were greeted by our massage therapists, Marie and Marie, who took us to a private room for the signature jade stone massage (60 minutes). The use of hot and cold stones mixed with swedish massage is absolutely heavenly! This was definitely the best massage experience I have ever enjoyed. The massage therapists were professional, skilled, and left us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. My husband requested a deep-tissue massage and was not disappointed. If my review was based on the Maries alone, they would definitely get five stars!
The reason for four stars is because the regular prices are ridiculously high. Even with the groupon, we still paid over $250 including the manditory 20% tip (totally worth it, by the way). If another groupon is offered we would love to return... but if given a choice, I think we would skip the detoxing foot bath next time. -

Horrible place, stay away from here! I booked a massage and a tub treatment and didn't even bother staying for the tub treatment- even though the owner made me prepay everything including tip before walking through the door!! T
he owner has such a horrible tacky materialistic vibe, obviously all about the money- every square inch of the place is covered with their self printed marketing materials and price menu. The clincher was seeing the manager berate one of her own staff girls to tears! Rip off place, horrible management -

I might be getting too picky here but I just want to share my experience and then maybe I'll go back; maybe I won't. I don't know. Perhaps I'm too demanding, but I was really expecting to feel unwound. Instead I was just a little looser than when I went in. An itsy bitsy bit.
Don't get me wrong-- this was a good experience. They were able to fit me in with very little notice and their online reviews were very positive. I had a jade stone massage that was a little more expensive than I had planned on spending ($150, not counting tip. Ouch). Maybe the price tag is tarnishing the review?
Anyway, I felt comfortable and the staff was very nice. I hadn't had a massage in a while and I've grown accustomed to deep tissue so I was really looking forward to getting my muscles kneaded like an aggressive baker would fondle dough.
The stones were something new for me. They were quite nice actually. But then there was a lot of work on my back and not so much on my legs, where (as a runner) I had indicated were one of the regions I wanted to work on.
I guess maybe I'm partially to blame for my 4- rating (this isn't a SOLID 4, it's more of a "there's not a good reason why it can't be a 4" sort of rating)... I need to be more vocal. But could you imagine being the person in the room next to me? "HARDER!!! Haarrrder!! Yeah, ooooohhhh, yessssssss!!!" Nah.
I'm looking for a spa in town where I can pay (not too much) for suffering. I have some seriously tight muscles and I'm still on the hunt for a place where I can give them a workout without me lifting a finger. Suggestions? -

LPR is a cute little day spa and yes it has its quirks. The owner can be a bit spaced out & if your appointment is the first of the day you won't get a hot neck roll or be offered tea (& noone will apologize). But every massage I've had has been fantastic, and the jacuzzi baths for two are in a huge copper tub surrounded by zen stones and a carved statue of kwan yin. I always leave feeling completely blissed out & like I've gotten my money's worth.
Word about the eyelash extensions. The one time I tried these, I asked for lashes to be as 'natural' looking as possible. Seeing Lisa's (the owner/aesthetician) I felt like it was necessary to make a point of this. When I returned to work from my lunchtime appointment with my thick tarantula leg extensions... well... there were smirks. Even, yes, laughter. Save them for an (expensive) night out & don't expect the lot to last for more than 2 weeks.
The 4 stars are the hours (no evenings, and closed sundays and mondays) & the mandatory gratuity in advance, even for the baths. Come on... -

I bought some coupons for myself and my daughter (through Groupon, which I am hooked on). WE BOTH HAD A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE, AND OUR MASSAGE THERAPISTS WERE SUPERB.
We bought the hot Jade stone massages, and it was amazing, I have had massages all over the world (China, Bulgaria, Europe, Africa etc)and this was a first. I always worry they wont go deep enough, but this experience combined a deep muscle massage with deep hot stones and then contrasting cold ones in the masseurs hands. Both myself and my daughter were still feeling deep release (and slight soreness) the next day. So we knew they had gone deep. The room was warm and peaceful, and the music was just what i woud have put on myself. I will definitely return. Just want to add that everyone there was friendly and warm (no judgement on us getting a discounted package) and the waiting room was super relaxing. -

3.5 stars.
i don't know why this place has so many negative reviews here on yelp. my experience wasn't that bad. well considering i didn't really pay for the spa package (i got it for free!), i thought everything was ok. nothing spectacular, but not bad either.
my co workers and i got the fantasy spa package. it came with Aqua Latte & Flower Bath Medley, Swedish-Deep Combo massage, and Sea Breeze Facial. they also threw in a free ionic detoxing foot bath (which was very interesting imo). so it was a pretty good deal for around $300+.
the bath was... meh. nothing special. the facial was ok.. it was relaxing and the girl was actually very nice and her voice was so soothing i almost fell asleep.. and the massage was actually very good, too. and the ionic foot bath thing, again was very interesting. i don't really know if it really works, but if it does, it sure got lots of toxins out of my body. :p overall, an ok experience.
the locker room is small but i didn't mind. it had all the amenities that i needed. i love free stuff! :) the waiting room was nice, too. they had hot tea and water and fruits and snacks. the only thing i didn't like is they have very limited parking. so i had to park at the medical building next door for about $6. so -1 star. and -1 because i feel they are not as organized as they should be. they're not that big and there weren't that many people when i went so i felt like they could improve on this part. i feel like the experience can be smoother if they were more organized. -

My sister and I just went for facials for my birthday treat and I had Olivia, who gave me a wonderful Vit C facial and I was relaxed and felt great. My skin was actually glowing--btw! I felt like I should show off my face or something afterwards! My sister also had a great facial and loved her Aesthetician as well (I cant remember her name). It was very quiet the day we were there, which was nice (it was superbowl sunday)....nice and relaxing there. We used the sauna a little bit, too, which is a plus, because there is no community spa to use while there (you have to pay for the tubs and hydrotherapy services, etc). The locker room was very cold, but that was the only drawback. It was small and lovely. :)

I love massages and being a massage therapist, I am extremely picky about who I let work on me. So, I go months without a massage, choosing Advil over bad hands. But I received a gift certificate to Le Petite Retreat for a package and finally, after months of holding on to it, I finally decided to cash in. It started with a 1/2 hour bath in a bubble bath meant for two (I was alone so it wasn't nearly as nice as it could have been). Then a 90-minute massage by Frank, who "frankly" I think gave me one of the best massages I've ever received next to my favorite Esalen massage. Truly an intuitive and skilled masseuer.
This was a delightful "pause" in my hectic life and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little "me time". It's not big like Burke Williams but I like that - there's a definite charm that you don't get in a big spa. The only thing I think would have made it better would have been if it had been pouring rain outside. Then they would have had a fire in the lounge and it would have made the green tea in the bath all the more soothing.

Where do I start...and how do I even start to even describe my experience! My friend and I took the day off to indulge in a wonderful massage session and after my experience at this Spa, I would rather have been at work.
(Yikes...did I really just say that?).
When we first walked in, there was no one at the front desk, and we waited about 5 minutes before a girl popped through. I was expecting a warm and welcoming greeting, however I got what seemed like she was too busy for us. She handed us some paper work to fill out, and asked US what services we were having. Shouldn't they have that in their system?? I was expecting a tour of the place, and more instruction on what we were getting and what to expect, however she just directed us to the changing area and that was it.The changing room is a joke! It's no bigger than a bathroom with some lockers and mediocre Toiletries. After changing into our robes, we proceeded into the small and stuffy lounge area...not welcoming or zen at all...oh but it had a half a$$ waterfall in the middle of the room. They didn't ask if we wanted any water or tea when we initially sat down, however after waiting for 15 minutes, she then decided to ask if we wanted anything. So we waited and waited...and then realized that they didn't have 2 females, as we had requested. They only had one male and female..to which we declined the services. They didn't seem to really care that they had messed that up and were not accommodating at all. We headed back to the dressing area...changed our clothes, and went to the front desk to discus the situation, and all they offered was a meaningless "I'm sorry"...and when would you like to rebook your appointment. NO THANKS...I will not be back to this poor excuse for a Day Spa! Don't waste your time or money...LA is full of amazing Spa's and massage places, that offer better services...and at half the price! -

My husband bought me a package gift here, having read fabulous reviews on Citysearch...The place is very charming, and with some small changes it could be great, but it wasn't for me.
Problems:
parking - there's no parking, and all street parking is 2hrs only, and with a package like i had it was impossible to get back to my car in time.
customer service - i had to call 2x's and write an email to get someone to call me back for my apt. and she was rude when she did. when i got to the spa, i wasn't given any instructions on when/what/where would occur...it was impossible for me to know and the place was empty so i had to ask a cleaning lady.
Pro's:
-the actual massage was good. so was the facial, and the facialist, chantal was wonderful.
- the place is very cute.
- seems like it would be wonderful place to go w/a friend because the waiting room is a living room.
