Stayed here for 6 nights in august and it was a pretty good experience overall.
Had a corner room away from the elevator so it was rather quiet. Was very pleased with the size of the room and the staff was very friendly; however, one night there was a very loud on and off clanking coming from the bathroom that kept waking me up. Even though it was pretty anoying the hotel staff took care of the problem and were very serviceable.
Like many people has said the room keys have a very unusual size so they are very uncomfortable to carry around.
The bottom line is that it is a great hotel if the price is right. I got a 160$ a night deal on http://hotels.com, and I have to say I was more than satisfied.
I've stayed at Le Meridien before in another country and was pretty satisfied. LPM NY was just okay.
Our double room was pretty comfy, roomy and clean. Equally important was the location: within walking distance to train stations, a 24-hour Duane Reade, and Times Square.
However, even for the family & friends price we paid, the experience was lacking:
- Both the staff and clientele seemed pretentious
- We didn't like how the head of the bed was literally inches next to the bathroom door
- It was weird cutting through a bar/lounge every time in order to get to one of the train stations
- We did not get "the priceless view" of Central Park, but rather a view of an office building :(
Paying for parking was also a hassle. As we were paying for our room at concierge, we noticed that the bill did not include parking fee. So we asked the receptionist where to pay for it, which she answered, "at the parking garage." Ok, no big deal. We stepped outside to look for the parking staff, and waited and waited until the bellhop (of all people) noticed our concern. Turns out we could have paid for parking altogether with the room. Don't know why the lady never offered us the option or included it in our bill. The worst part was when we confronted her and she played dumb, "Oh, I didn't know you were picking up your car." Hello! If we're paying for the room, then that means we're leaving! It could have been a miscommunication, but even the bellhop rolled his eyes at her.
3.5 stars. I will probably return, especially since I've just discovered Priceline deals.

The worst hotel experience in my life.
The bed was similar to a slab of concrete (with a pillow top). We could not sleep in the bed.
The roll-away bed that they provided for my son was made in the early 1920's, the plastic mattress had no padding and the metal springs were protruding thru the cover. It looked more like a torture device than a bed.
We could hear the elevators serving the upper floors of the building all night.
The door key does not fit into the pockets of any male clothing.
The bathroom is a well disguised joke.
The Internet access is archaic.
The manager is one of the rudest people imaginable.
It is so French in so many (unimaginable) ways.
I would give this hotel a zero if it was possible except for the fact that some of the staff were actually nice (not the French ones).
The last time something like this happened to me I was staying at the old Ritz in Boston. The next morning the manager said that we did not have a "Ritz Experience" and he did not charge us for the room. That is the way to run a hotel! There are so many other good hotels in New York you do not need to abuse yourself here.

Good place for business travel. Nice rooms, good location and not too $$. Rooms with view of park are awesome.

I stayed at this hotel for one Saturday night. The lobby and care in the lobby are both beautiful and make you expect a lot from the hotel. The room itself was okay, modern and simple, which is good. The shower had nice water pressure (I had just moved from a hotel that took minutes to get the shampoo out of my hair - and my hair's not long), so that was refreshing.
Location of this hotel is great! Very convenient to awesome shopping, Central Park and the Theater District. I would definitely stay here again, though the bed wasn't the most comfortable.
And everyone is right - the room key is an awkward size and doesn't fit in men's pockets, which is quite annoying. The hotel should read the reviews and adjust accordingly.
They pretend to try, but fails.
Location is fantastic, 2 blocks away from the central park. Price is comparable to what you would expect from a midtown business leisure hotel, but they did not honor our reservation for queen or king, instead we ended up in a twin bed room.
At the check in, they assured the new room will be available the next day but after 3 nights in the same small room for $250+ a night, we quit trying and decided to leave for another hotel (Renaissance) which was equally pretentious but service was better and the room was much bigger.
The pool on the rooftop is small, the bedroom walls are thin (we could hear the next door moaning -- as bad as motel 6 from college days, and the bathroom was modern cover up of a bygone era. I am suggesting my company to take this hotel out of a preferred list. Yes, I'm pissed off -- but what I've written here is all true.
Very disappointed. Only good thing -- the location and the downstairs cafe/bar.
Interesting to read some of the different experiences others have had here. This is where we stay whenever we' re in NY because it is reasonably priced (as far as NYC hotel prices go) with very nice sized rooms and we always feel like we're home when we arrive. If you are lucky or pay for it, the view of Central Park is priceless. Internet is nearly $20/day but if you tether with your cell phone it is free.
Don't even think about ordering room service unless you plan on taking out a bank loan because it is pricey. However, both restaurants are good. Norma's is great for breakfast and meetings but on the expensive side.
It is centrally located with subway's located at either entrance of the hotel.
The staff is usually quite accommodating. I think only once I had an unpleasant, older, eastern European woman bark at me because she couldn't find our reservation. When I provided her a printout as proof, she backed down. Not sure why that happened as I have stayed here countless times without incident. They couldn't explain it either.
there are views. and there ARE views. imagine above-the-tree-tops vista of Central Park and beyond. as far as the eye can see. from the 35th floor of LPM. just as iconic a snapshot of NYC as any.
this image blew me away the last time i stayed at this hotel 12 years ago and hoped to enjoy it again this time. my lucky stars aligned when i was checked in by a french staff. (as part of the grand plan, i used my paris address when i booked). we chatted en francais about her hometown Tours, and VOILA...i got a room upgrade! sometimes when you "push" your luck, things happen. merci bien!

I guess you can call this a 4 star because of all the amenities but I had a tiny room that was overlooking old buildings. The location is good and near the subway so it's easy to get around. The best part of the hotel is the eateries inside. Norma's has the best brunch! I also saw a huge line for some hidden burger joint. They say it's suppose to be the best burgers in NY. I'd probably stay here again since we got it on hotwire for $169/night. The only thing is you have to pay to use the gym. Boo for that!

We stayed here based on Yelpers' reviews. It was indeed a nice hotel with gracious staff and spacious rooms. For Manhattan, the size of the room and bathroom was great! The location was perfect; the subway makes getting around Manhattan easy, but it was nice to be able to walk to Central Park and Times Square. The only downside was waiting for the elevators. We would gladly stay here again.
I booked this on Priceline for about $125 a night and it was worth the stay.
The staff was very helpful, but the amenities are so far overpriced it is unreal. If my husband and I were to have breakfast for two in the room (ordering room service), it would have cost $60 per day. I needed to use the internet in the hotel to confirm something online that my blackberry couldn't do for some reason and it was $8 to sign on and 50 cents per minute...$7 a page to print something out.
Also, I enjoy my city sounds...the room was so quiet that we could not tell we were in Manhattan. Being a native NYer, I happen to enjoy my city sounds and I was disappointed to discover that I could not hear the faint sounds of street noise.
On the upside, the room was very roomy and comfortable. We had a king size bed. The room also had a huge mirror as well as ample electrical outlets. Great makeup mirror in the bathroom too!
The staff was very courteous...more courteous and helpful than in other hotels I have stayed it. They cleaned the room thoroughly every day as well as changed the sheets and provided clean towels as well as replaced hotel-provided toiletries.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again...however, eat breakfast and all your meals out and do not use the internet.
I had a dope view of Central Park and was high enough that the city sounds weren't overwhelming. Entertainment system rotates so you can watch from anywhere. Contemporary room, bathroom and lobby. Awesome concierge service and bellmen. Walking distance to park and subway. You have to visit "The Burger Joint" in the lobby area - it's a hidden gem.
I got a great deal by bidding on Priceline. Let's say under $150/night which is a steal for this hotel.
I think the shot glasses in the room are complimentary. They have super-absorbent towels - I accidentally left some in my bag. I'll give em back next time I visit.

Yes, the mirrors make the lobby seem larger than life, but it's like walking in a frikkin mirror maze! If I'd had one more drink on Saturday night, I would have a huge bruise on my forehead from walking into another Asian girl wearing the same dress as me.
The beds were super cushy and everything was pretty clean. I especially liked how they put out only the essentials in the bathroom: soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and TWO SHOT GLASSES. Four stars for Le Parker Meridien.

The hotel was excellent - the concierge was the best- The view of central park... priceless!
The hotel is located near Central Park, Carnagie Hall, Time Square, the Theater District and all local subway stations. Getting around is easy.
I couldn't give it 5 stars because it costs $16.95 per day for wireless service - but other than that my experience was absolutely wonderful. Book it on Priceline for about $120 bucks a night. You get a lot of bang for your buck!
The reasons we booked here were
a. location
b. amenities, such as the rooftop pool
c. an expectation of a tech saavy establishment, based on the modern "look"
We were, needless to say very disappointed. The rooms may look modern, but (in 2009) they aren't wi fi equipped.
My 7 year old son and I were actually denied access to the pool because they were accommodating an aerobics class.
They have a coffee bar that can't even do a Starbuck's level Americano.
The beds and pillows are not up to the "heavenly bed" standard. This place is unfortunately just window dressing. And at this price it was a very disappointing experience.

While attending a wedding in NYC, I stayed here for a weekend. I had a great room at the corner of the building on the 56th St side. It was extremely quiet, not at all what I expected downtown. The restaurant, and the little cappuccino bar leading out to 57th St was extremely convenient, and a nice place to just hang out while you figure out where to go/do next. This hotel is in a GREAT location about 2 blocks south of Central Park and is about a block or so away from the subway. When I go back to NYC, I will definitely stay here. It's close to everything. My only regret is that I did not get to eat at the secret hamburger joint in the hotel. Room size was decent, and the only complaint I heard was from my girlfriend that there was no electrical outlet above the bureau, so she couldn't curl her hair while I was in the bathroom. ;)
Le Parker Meridien, I have a crush on you.
I love the spa-like & spacious bathroom,
the open space floorplan in the suite,
the complimentary ginormous & sturdy umbrella (which was VERY useful during a rainy summer in 2007),
the herman miller chair, and
I love, love the comfy beds.
And best of all,
Le Parker houses two of the bestest places to eat at: the hidden burger joint and norma's, all in the heart of midtown manhattan, and -- get this --
they play tom & jerry cartoons in the elevators.
Le Parker Meridien, I sooooo have a crush on you.

Absolutely spectacular view of the park, convenient to subways (& of course the park), sweet featherbed, big tub, and it's in the middle of GDM'Fing NY. Unlike a couple other places we've stayed in NY, you can't touch all the walls if you stand in the middle of the room. Love the lobby. Very nice, accommodating staff.
No wifi, crap connectivity for iPhone, biz center computing @ $8+ .50/minute. That's like WTF to the googleth power. Antique TV (great swivel panel it's mounted on, though).
Overall: killer stay, just don't expect to easily get your nerd on while you're there.
We never got around to checking the pool or gym. But dude. We were in NY. Better stuff to do than gym it up or swim indoors!
Very classy place-- great lobby, the kind you can use for business meetings if you want to appear fancier than you actually are. Does it overlook the park? Yes! Is the location prime? You said it! Are the rooms comfortable? Indeed, though because it's a Manhattan hotel, they are, per the norm, compact.
I stayed here for a romantic weekend with my beau in NYC and it was perfect for all of our needs. Excellent room service, easily accessible to everywhere we wanted to visit in the city, private and luxurious. Was the price steep? Hell yes, especially because we frequented the room service menu for snacks, brunches, and coffee. Was it a memorable experience? You bet.

This hotel is NICE.
CBS paid for my stay her ewhen I appeared on the Early Show.
The fron concierge was super duper nice.
The doorman was more than helpful.
The room was awesome. Super clean.
Of course, I didn;t pay, but the experience was great.
This is a excellent hotel, amazing location and the staff is very helpful. I really enjoyed my stay here, will come again. They have a rooftop pool which is a nice plus.
I can tell they are trying to be unique in every way.
"Best NY Brunch" - Norma's
"Best hidden NY Burger" - Burger Joint
"Best Hotel Gym" - Gravity
However, one thing that they forgot to be the best is their SERVICE.
1. The bellmen were just hanging around as my car came, they were watching me to get off bags in my car.
2. The front desk agent gave me four wrong access codes for the wifi in the lobby. Come on, most hotels like W offers free internet in the lobby. Also, most hotel offers free airline boarding pass kiosk, where they hide it inside the room...oh boy.
3. Housekeeping knocks my door 930am in the morning despite the "do not disturb sign". I guess they were really trying to kick their customers out.
4. Services in Norma's restaurant (waiters) is like non-existent. It makes you feel that they are doing you a favor to serve you and requires you to pay 20% tip.
Also::
1. The in room entertainment system (TV) is still CRT monitor from 90s. I guess they don't plan to upgrade that very soon.
2. Saggy bed - perhaps I was too spoiled by the W beds.
3. No Turndown service??? I thought most 4.5 to 5 stars hotel would do that! esp when they are trying for "The Best!"
4. Their Room Key - Absolutely Horrible. Its a ~7x2" long piece of plastic...yes I know they are trying to be "unique" but its very hard for us guys to place in the pocket or wallet since you can not bend or fold this magnetic strip. So not ergonomic. I like my room key wallet sized so I will not lose it.
5. Tom & Jerry inside elevator - I know some people liked it but for me, the old school background music and squeaky elevator sound made me feel I am in those horror movie - you never know what to expect when the door opens. Come on LPM, if you are trying to create a modern feeling, stick it ALL the way. Play something modern or trendy inside the elevator too.
The Goods:
1. Herman Miller Chair. Every good hotel needs to have this in the room.
2. Spacious Walk in shower with STRONG water pressure.
3. Very good gym, with friendly service.
4. Rooftop pool with a view is hard to beat in NYC.
5. Great Lobby! Very Contemporary.
6. Good AC system inside the junior suite that I stayed in.
7. North side of the hotel will have a park view. To me its nothing to write home about tho, but its nice to see some greens from your window.
8. You can charge burger joint's food into your room! (Cash only for non hotel guests = more points for us!).
I don't know why this hotel gives me a very nickel & dime cookie cutter feeling to me (They have no shower gel in this hotel, no mouthwash too!). Being a 4* star hotel, they should be more service orientated and need to update their room as well. I appreciate their effort to follow the SPG rules (upgrades, late check out) but please, esp when we are paying a good amount money to stay here, can you be more generous to your guests?

The good: Spacious and modern with neat touches like the revolving TV cabinet, a sitting area, and a nice bathroom.
The bad: All of the above ONLY if you get the newer tower. Good luck.
In short: I used to stay here all the time when I had to go to NYC. However, I gave up going after a debacle of being put in the old tower and not the new tower. HUGE difference in quality. The old tower had mildew and a moldy smell in the bathroom, no shower stall - only an old school tub with showerhead, and the ceiling had stains as if there was water damage from above. Got the old tower even after I was told by Sales that they would definitely put me in the new tower. Had to change hotels twice on two different visits.
Overall: Great if you get the new tower.
Note: I'm writing this three months after my stay. My posting activities fell off drastically in November and December. So, take this more as directional recollections than a highly focused critique.
I loved this hotel. I traveled to New York a decent amount in 2007-2008, staying in a variety of hotels at a variety of prices. Without question, this one night at Le Parker Meridien was the coolest experience and maybe the best overall value.
* The London was pretty sweet, but also pretty expensive and not really designed to get any work done.
* The Westin Times Square is solid, but doesn't possess the same cool factor as Le Parker Meridien.
* The Embassy Suites near the financial district provided great space and had the best gym (though I didn't use the one at the Meridien, which looked excellent, too), but that part of town isn't convenient for much (for me, anyway).
* And the Roger Williams can be a great deal, but the room doesn't come close to what I had at the Meridien.
My stay got off on the right foot when the agent at the front desk informed me I had been upgraded to a "tower suite". This was my first and remains my only stay at Le Parker Meridien, so I cannot compare the 'tower suite' with anything else. But if you're offered an upgrade to a 'tower suite', take it.
I liked the room as soon as I walked in. It's not the most luxurious room you'll ever stay in, or even the largest. But the smart design touches really impressed me.
The living room / work area is well laid out. The desk design is just smart - one area for your laptop and a separate area (the rounded table in the photos) to spread out some paperwork. Maybe a little detail, but just very smart.
The bathroom was beautiful, simple and sleek. If you appreciate this kind of modern ascetic, this place is for you.
And, bonus for me, no 'rainforest' or 'waterfall' or whatever shower head (I hate those).
But the pièce de résistance was the way they incorporated the entertainment center into a swiveling half-wall that could be configured to either face the bedroom or face the living room. As you see in my photos, I really enjoyed this feature.
Okay, so I really liked the whole TV thing. The room also had some great closet space (you'll have to trust me on this, as I was so caught up with taking pictures of the TV that I failed to grab any of the closets).
Net: Depending upon where prices are, I'll be seeking out Le Parker Meridien whenever I can. (This night the price was $557 tax included and was competitive with similar class rooms given the timing I needed. Not sure what the 'tower suite' might cost without the benefit of a free upgrade.)

Probably the best view I have had in a hotel since I started going to NY for work. Though when you do get an upgrade usually you are given the choice of either a room with a view or a larger room so I guess it's your own personal choice which one you would like.
My room was located on the 37th floor & though it was a little on the small side....it was perfect for one person.
The location a great and it's near so many other things around the way.
I would totally stay at this hotel again....
The location - Great. Walkable to the park, 5th Ave shopping, Broadway plays, Carnegie Hall, etc.
The Rooms - Meh. Small and clean, but nothing special. Be wary of the fridge. If you even lift something up to look at it, they charge you for it.
The Rooftop - Amazing view, there was a lightning storm that night and we tried to get closer to watch, but had to settle for watching from our room. Probably for the best.
The Rooftop Pool - small and crowded, filled with screaming kids. Not really worth the effort.
The Bar Downstairs (I believe called "The Knave") - It was POURING that night, and lightning and thunder were everywhere. We had just come from a play across the street, and figured we'd grab a drink here, instead of going somewhere else. I ordered a jack and coke. The bartender pours a SINGLE shot into a rocks glass with ice, with a tiny carafe of coke on the side and slides the receipt underneath. Guess how much? $15.17?! I left the change and a dollar for a tip and actually said "Congratulations. That is the most expensive Jack and Coke I've EVER had." I've drank in many bars around the world - London, Spain, shit even Hollywood, and I've never paid $16 for a Jack and Coke. I was insulted. I felt like a tourist douche, and I grew up in New York!
So all in all, if you've got money to burn and like a nice location, this place is fine, just don't drink at the bar. The doorman actually pointed us to a place around the corner called Faces and Names or something, and it was great.

We walked a few blocks to get to this restaurant from our hotel and were very excited to try it because of all the high ratings on zagat. The food was rather mediocre for the price that you pay. But if you are staying at the hotel, it's a nice place to have breakfast.
Love this place..stayed for the first time this past weekend and it was awesome. Staff is really friendly/helpful and we were upgraded to a Jr Suite upon arrival!! Yayy!
Long story short - I definitely recommend staying here...and if you do, you MUST have breakfast at Norma's (located in the lobby). The best breakfast everrrrr!!! I want the "Waz-Za?" right now!!
We stayed here during my wife's surgery for 2 nights. It's a refurbished hotel with a great lobby, a cool coofe/wine bar/ an indoor pool on the roof with a great view of the city, and a doorbell for your hotel room.
We got this hotel via Priceline, but would gladly pay the regular price now that we've stayed there..................and if we could afford it.
I have to mention the EXCELLENT customer service we received from Ari upon check-in. We are Starwood clients, but since we received Le Parker Meridien through a third party booking agent we were not eligible to receive Starwood points for this stay. That did not stop Ari from treating us like valued guests. When he asked if we were in NYC on business or pleasure, we told him about Heidi's surgery; since out flight is leaving at 5:00pm this Tuesday, he offered us a late check out of 2:30PM!! This meant we didn't have to troll JFK for 4 hours with my wife in recovery mode.
Sometimes, I'm just saying, some hotel clerks might not treat you as good if you've gone through a third party agent for booking your room; not Ari, we really felt welcome and taken care of! I'm sure the other guys are just as good, but we KNOW Ari is that good.
Located Midtown West or Central Park South- it's a couple blocks from Central Park-down the street from Carnegie Hall and The Russian Tea Room, across the street from a Starbucks, and a short cab ride from the Steven Colbert Show.
Bottom line: Great Hotel! Great Customer Service!!

Recently the lobby has a new makeover with a full bar installed complete with knowledgeable and licensed bar tenders. The decor of the bar is the conservative old world charm of red velvet curtains and oak chairs covered with velvet fabric. The bar in the lobby is open to both hotel guests and non-hotel guests. The wait staff does not rush patrons while they sip their cocktail drinks or wine as the evening ends, which is good for patrons who work in the area and need somewhere to go for a quick drink.
Patrons have an excellent view of Central Park and Columbus Circle. This hotel is minutes away from the shops at Columbus Circle.

This hotel is absolutely lovely. Location is great, there's free wireless in the lobby, and between Norma's and the tucked-away burger joint downstairs, you don't even have to leave the building for must-eats. Check, check, and check for convenience. The lobby is beautiful, understated and sparkly clean, as are the rooms. Rooms are also reasonably spacious with comfortable beds. The whole place just whispers with quiet luxury. Pricy? Sure, but you could do much worse. I would definitely stay here again.

it's great hotel, super dog friendly, except not a very good area to walk your dog, no grass....but couple blocks down is Central Park.

I love this hotel. It's the only place I stay in when in NYC.
The first time I stayed here, I thought it was incredibly posh and was on my best behavior. Then I realized the backside of the do not disturb sign actually read "FOUGHITTABOUTIT" so I was instantly endeared at the fact that the Parker Meridian do not take themselves so seriously and I fell in love.
The rooms are modern and hip. The suites are fabulous! Try to get a room with the view of the park, as the other sides are really close office building windows.
The restaurant downstairs is French and delicious, if you feel like staying in for a meal. But since the location is just perfect for short walks to amazing places, I know it's hard to want to stay on site.
The staff are super friendly, they will help you get cabs or wherever you need to go. The pool is pretty sweet and so is the on site gym.
I've only ever had problems booking a room for New Years Eve. Otherwise, there are good deals on the rooms if you use one of the discount sites like expedia, etc.

Things started off OK when I asked for a park view room, but got a suite upgrade since park view rooms were sold out. I got a huge (by NY standards) suite with inspiring views of the offices and condos across 56th St. One really annoying thing about my suite was the lack of black out curtains in the sitting/office area. And the only thing dividing the bedroom from the sitting room was the rotating entertainment center. So all night, I got light filtering in from the office building across the street.
The roof top pool was OK, but the astro-turf roof was probably the best. Very very cool vertigo-inducing experience. The Gravity Fitness center is OK, but nothing like Equinox. The hotel website says it's free to guests, but they charge you $10 at the fitness center.
I was a little upset that the hotel did not participate in the SPG program. Ok that's fine, but as soon as I got over it, I get an email telling me that the Le Parker Meridien now participates in SPG! WTF?!?! Furthermore, they won't retroactively credit points to my account (about $2,000!!!). I realize you have to start at some point, but you could at least retro credit stays within the past 3-6 months or something like that, especially with the prices they are charging.
I'm not a huge fan of this hotel. And I really don't understand why celebs (ok, B-listers a la the Simpson sisters, but still celebs in their own right) stay here. It's actually quite overrated.
I stayed here for a week once while on biz and still a Chicagoan. My room was horribly tiny and nothing about the decor stood out to me. In fact, I could've confused the room for one of the newly renovated ones at the Marriott Marquis, they were so similar. (Except I think the rooms at the Marriott are larger).
Additionally, I don't remember them being part of the Meridian points system. What a total let-down.
Perhaps the suites are spectacular, but if you're just an average Joe (not that I ever think of myself as just average, but for argument's sake we'll go with it), then you will likely be disappointed with your stay here.
Additionally, the meeting rooms can get extremely hot and uncomfortable. They must be penny-pinching, b/c they are def anti-ac.
The one good thing I can say about this place is that if you sleep through your wake-up call, someone will personally come to your room and ring your doorbell to make sure you're up and at 'em. Kinda cute. Except when you're in the shower by the time they reach you...
Oh, and there's the Burger Joint in-house, if you're into that kind of thing (I'm not).

Loved my stay here. I took my girlfriend and we booked a Diplomatic Suite with a very nice park view for her birthday. It was expensive but the hotel was absolutely gorgeous. A lot of my friends keep telling me that Waldorf is better and I suppose it is... IF YOU'RE 65! On the other hand if you want all night concierge and room service for awesome parties then you need to come here. The hotel is smoke free, but if you stuff a towel under the hallway door and smoke out of your living room or bedroom window you should be fine, shh don't tell anyone though because if they find out they will fine you.
Good mini bar, and snack fridge, excellent location, if you are staying here book yourself a reservation at Tao which is in the same general area. Parking isn't that great, but its a garage and it does the job. Be prepared to spend some money though if you are staying here. Other than that you couldn't find a better and cooler and more trendy place to stay in this side of the Park or even in all of Manhattan.
Most certainly recommend this hotel.

My work sent me to NYC for literally 24 hours for a conference and got me a room at Le Parker Meridien. At 600 bucks a night I definitely couldn't afford it, but they can so holler!
The room was gorgeous and I had an AMAZING view of Central Park. Everything was spacious, well thought out, and cared for, and the staff very helpful. I went downstairs and asked the concierge where Carrie Bradshaw's house was and she didn't know right then so she called me on my cell 20mins later to give me the details- love it!
They also have a fabulous in-house restaurant- Norma's that I tried for breakfast (so good.)
This place is definitely kitschy--they play old cartoons and charlie chaplin movies in the elevators, as well as having burgers available 24/7 near their front desk area. I also couldn't figure out if they had normal TV available, I just saw a DVD area and couldn't get it to work...but I was there for sucha short time I didn't even call down to ask (but minus a star for being weird about it either way!)
Also, I left my camera charger in my room (so annoying) and they gladly shipped it to me right away-VERY impressive (this should be industry standard, but sadly it is not).
I would *love* to stay here again.

Always a pleasant stay with great service.
If you order room service, try the truffle mac & cheese! =D
I'll cut to the chase here. I have stayed here a handful of times because my wife stays here on 90% of her quarterly trips to NY. She would rate it 5 starts, but it's not her review.
Positives
1.Stayed in Junior suites in the side away from the park and in small rooms on high floors facing the park. I'd take the small rooms with a view of the park anytime. Waking up to that view, rain or shine, is worth the price of admission.
2. one of the best "hotel Gyms" that I have ever been in. Large, roomy, plenty of machines, weights, and other options. several classes offered. BTW, it is really a Gym called Gravity that locals can join. But I have never seen it crowded.
3. Rooftop pool big enough to do real laps in. With towel boys/girls, showers, room service available, and views of the city in 3 directions.
4. Great location. Two blocks to Central Park and easy walk many other places.
5. The views from the rooms, the rooftop pool, and the decks near the pool. There are decks on the room you can go sit up on.
5. Great staff. But maybe that is because my wife is always there :0.
6. The Burger Joint in the lobby. See separate review.
7. Concierge makes good recommendations, can get you reservations, etc.
Negatives
1. Rooms are expensive, but everything is in this part of the city.
2. This hotel is part of the Starwood Hotels (Westin, W, St Regis, Sheraton, etc.). But they don't participate in the rewards program. What BS is that? They too good for it?
3. $16 for internet access? I agree with another reviewer - this is crazy. Why is it that the expensive hotels charge you more for internet access, and the Hampton Inn's can give it to you for free.
4. Room service is expensive. Good, but pricey. Too many options in the area.
5. The lobby area seems to always be crowded. Not the check in area, but where the seats and couches are. What's up with that?
The positives bring it to 5 stars, the negatives drop it down a notch+, but I rounded back up to 4 stars because I still stay there.

As a place to lay my head during a week of working hard during the day and partying hard at night, the Parker Meridien is a fine hotel.
The staff is friendly, helpful and bright.
The decor is very "moderne" and chic - altho some of my co-workers (e.g. chicks) mentioned that they would've preferred more closet space rather than that swivel-y media center that dominated the room.
The view of Central Park and the surrounding city from rooftop pool is effing spectacular.
I didn't have to pay for my stay, so I can't really comment on the cost vs. value of the hotel.
To tell you the truth, during previous visits to NY, I stayed at a buddy's very *ahem* cozy apartment (read: the size of a walk-in closet), and with friend in Queens. Nuff said?
There's not much really going on around Mid-town, but there are some rather good restaurants close to the Parker.
1) Seppi's - a French Bistro right next door where I ate two delish meals and drank lots of wine;
2) Trattoria del Arte - a very lively Italian joint where I grew to love Chianti;
3) Tao - they have really dope Asian Fusion food (melt in your mouth sushi); and
4) Angelo's Coal Oven Pizzeria - pretty good pizza (what more can I say?)
Plus there's a rather odd burger "shack" inside the hotel itself. I didn't eat there, but my boss' boss' boss did and she said it was very tasty.
We also hit the bar called Carnie's nearby.
The Russian Tea Room is also close, but I skipped it.
** Expanded reviews of these bars/restaurants in the future.
So all-in-all, if you have to stay in NY for business, I'd say the Parker would make a good choice.
Four stars!

P.S. I decided to write this review b/c I ran out of my usual Suave shampoo (I'm a guy, of course I use the cheap sh*t). So I dug through my Dopp kit and found the Peter Roth Thomas shampoo that the Parker stocks its bathrooms with. The effect was Pavlovian as I instantly recalled the good times w/ my co-workers in NY.
