The panini are just OK, but the sandwiches - the specials (the meatloaf and chicken kabob as the previous reviewer notes) are excellent. I get my sandwich on a roll - not sure what bakery they get them from, but their crusty rolls are terrific.
A very good value - about $5 for a sandwich, drink & chips, and the sandwiches are BIG.
The father & son who run the place are usually friendly, although tired by the time I get there at the end of the lunch rush. When the weather is nice, I go once a week and eat in the Secretary of State / Archives courtyard a block away.
They use kosher/halal salami and some other ingredients for the sandwiches but I don't think the kitchen is kosher.

This sandwich shop is found on the corners of P and 10th. It is run by 2 guys, I presume a father and son. The are only open for breakfast and lunch everyday, and serve coffees and croissants in the morning and a fairly wide variety of sandwiches for lunch.
They serve standard sandwiches on decent bread, nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing that makes this place special for me are their awesome prices, most sandwiches are $4.25 or less, and their daily specials are $3.25, and if you get it with chips and soda it is about $5.
On Monday and Wednesday he does a grilled chicken special and on Tuesday and Thursday he does meatloaf. The specials are pretty good, not exceptional, but if you take into account the price and that they are decent sized sandwiches it is a nice change of pace. They also serve panini's, but I did not like the ones I tried.
