Wish I would've written a review earlier and just posted this as an update... it always makes me sad to experience a marked change in a dining establishment, especially when the night out was in honor of my dear papa.

But there it is.

In lieu of previous review, the food was always pricey but generally quite good and service was excellent - they even made a special "cake" using only fresh fruit and Splenda-powered whipped cream for me diabetic ma's birthday, which was above and beyond the call of duty (very good tips given all around, to say the least).

I especially liked their NY strip and was looking forward to it immensely when we decided to splurge for Piggypoo's birthday last month. A good experience was most definitely not to be had, however.

Everyone else seemed fairly gruntled with their meals, and the wine was pretty good. My dish, however, was just a notch above above cold, greasy chunchullo; NY strip it was not. Just a gristly piece of meat that had obviously been rejected by restaurant-goers and staff alike.

When we found out that the owner was traveling things seemed to make sense a bit more... especially the reaction to my compaint (something like "I can send it back but I don't think it will help" - please!). This was a meal I would not have expected to get even at La Carreta, much less at four-dollar-mark French digs in Key Biscayne.

I applaud myself for a very muted reaction (to not put a damper on birthday fesitivities), politely told them that the dish was inedible and proceeded to eat the french fries. Not sure if they were really good or I was just really hungry.

Word of advice: find out if the owner's around, or wait until they  change the night manager - your experience might be quite different than mine.

Decided to pull into a strip mall of sorts and found this little French-Lebanese place.  Had the grape leaves and some other Lebanese-like treats.  It has big signs showing that they sell crepes, but not for lunch...  I was really in the mood for crepes.  They did, however, have a Nutella crepe for dessert!!!  Creme brulee came out warm at the top and cold at the bottom.  Still, I'd be back.  I want to check out their wine list

Nice place, good food. The location is not very good but they did a great job at decorating the place. Good wine list and excellent steak-frites
