I feel bad every time I come to see Annette. I only get in to see her every 4-6 months and in the meantime I will not let ANYONE else touch my hair. By the time I get in to see her my hair is usually nearly to my waist and it seems thicker than the last time I came to see her. This time I wanted cut, color & brazilian blowout, a monumental undertaking.
Annette as usual was AMAZING! She mixed an incredible mahogany color for my hair and gave me the funky (yet still office appropriate) highlights that I requested. And then started working on the brazilian blowout. OMG do I love, love, love my hair now. I have had frizz for as long as I remember and now it is no more. I have been getting compliments from everyone I have come into contact with and I can't stop singing her praises to anyone that will listen. Thanks again Annette for an incredible experience, see you again in a couple months! -

I.LOVE.JADE. I first came to Jade on a recommendation for a much needed hair cut. Ahhh...mazing, i loved the way my hair felt after, so much body and volume it was just so awesome since i dont' have much hair to begin with, and my layers were just perfect. Since that first experience was so great, i decided to book another appointment for ombre color with Jade, black and bright red instead of the regular blond ombre, and I honestly can't be any happier with the result. LOVE LOVE LOVE... Just had it done last night and already by today i've had so many compliments. She went over the colors with me, what my expectation was, what she thought would look good, i took her recommendations and im so glad i went for it. THANK YOU JADE!!!!

Back in 2010, I got my first Brazilian Blowout (at a different salon) and thought I was happy with it. My hair was soft(ish), the time I spent on my hair decreased (a bit), but overall, I still had a decent amount of frizz (which at the time I thought was normal).
I got my second Brazilian Blowout at Lavish and now finally understand why women rant and rave about this treatment. My hair is genuinely soft, I can blow dry/style my hair in about 1/3 the time it used to take, and I have no frizz. In fact, I can't even sport my usual curls anymore (the best I can do is wavy)! To top it all off, Annette gave me the best hair cut I've had since moving to SF. No Joke! It's been three weeks since my visit to Lavish and I'm still getting compliments.
But enough about me, here are some other things that made my experience great:
- Annette and her assistant are both super friendly and fun to chat with.
- The salon is cozy, warm, and welcoming.
- I'm becoming quite fond of I.C.O.N. (the hair product brand they use). -

I'm sure this salon is great but they totally ripped people off through a LIVING SOCIAL Deal.
I bought a Living Social Coupon for $125. It took me some time to make an appointment with Annette. In the end, she ended up having someone else do my hair anyhow.
I've gotten the Brazilian Blowout done before by another Salon in SF and they did a fantastic job. My hair was silky smooth - so I had an idea of what the process is and how my hair should look.
I got to the salon and first of all they didn't use the BB Shampoo - used some other brand to save on cost probably. Then while applying the solution I felt either they were skimping on the solution or not applying it correctly. At the end of the treatment they told me - "We don't wash your hair because the treatment will last longer." I had never heard this before but I took her word for it. Typically at the end of the brazilian blowout treatment - they rewash with the BB shampoo and put the serum in and restraighten or blowdry it out. They didn't do this.
I washed my hair 3 days later. AND THE FRIZZ WAS BACK!!!!
I was SOOOOOO ANGRY. I emailed annette and spoke with her on the phone but she wouldn't admit they did anything wrong. I spoke with a ton of other salons and all of them said that its possible they're using a different solution or not doing something right. Even the folks at the Brazilian Blowout headquarters said they got complaints about this salon.
I called Living Social and requested my money back. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! -

Disappointed. Although their menu of services say they will go anywhere in the bay area and their prices are reasonable they require you to visit the salon for groups less than 4. So if you , the bride, is the only on getting her hair and makeup done its not worth their time. And they will say that to you several different ways. Ouch.

Recently Annette gave me a Brazilian Blowout, a trim, color and highlights and I've never been HAPPIER with my hair! It's naturally very curly, and I had read about the BB and wasn't sure if it would work on my hair. (I was also scared about there being formaldehyde, but there wasn't any in the product.)
She explained the procedure to me so patiently, and I had such a great time during my appointment. I walked away with what feels like a brand-new head on my shoulders! The compliments have been amazing--I look younger (allegedly!), I can straighten my hair incredibly quickly, it's healthy and shiny...I totally love it. Actually, I feel like a better and more polished version of myself. When I went back for my second one I was even happier--especially with my haircut. -

I have been going to see Lindsay for almost a year now and she always amazes me. She is such a nice person and always takes the time to explain why she does something or what she thinks I should do with my hair. I normally get a cut and color and I always leave with my hair shiny and less bulky. This time around I got highlights and they really added that little bit that was missing. The salon itslef is adorable, its on the smaller side but they have really fun artwork and great music playing. I love going here and wouldn't go anywhere else to get my hair done!

My hair dresser Eric Hayes recently made his move to Lavish and I paid him a visit two weeks ago, Lavish is a super cute boutique salon located in an unlikely spot...on the busy streets of Lombard. Despite its location, the salon is beautifully decorated with cool paintings and everyone working there exuded a positive vibe. While I was there I watched Camille work her magic on a bride-to-be. A "trial" up do looked better than any real updo's I've seen.
The owner of the salon was super cool and she even launched her own line of hair products which I adored.
If you are driving to the salon, you can park your car at the adjacent hotel for $5 so you won't have to worry about feeding the meter. -

I called Annette at 10, hoping to get in for hair and makeup before noon, a big yeah right, right? No- Annette could make out the urgency by the tone of my voice and asked me to come in at noon on the dot. I was already amazed by her accomodations and understanding.
I got there and waited briefly for my turn. I got Lindsay and I gave myself to ger totally. I told her that just by looking at my hair, it is super thin and has no volume, I asked her to do whatever she thinks would loook best on me... she did. My hair was up, towards the side, flirty bangs... my boyf walked into the salon and was amazed by the transformation. My makeup was subtle but gorgous nonethless. I really enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere here... I'd definitely go again for my regular haircut and definitely every time there's an event I am going to attend.

I had my 2nd brazilian done by Annette 2010 year's end.
My first treatment at another salon had great results and not having read any of the reviews(poz/neg) before going in, expectations were higheeee!
Annette really differentiated herself by making me feel very comfortable with her ease and ability to treat my insanely big and long hair. She wasn't intimidated at all where the last salon I went to, the stylist made it point to mention how hard my hair was to work with.
Not only that but she cut my hair into beautiful layers + graciously supported my request for bangs. My last experience (same guy) vehemently opposed my ask for bangs and made me feel like a fool for asking. Do people wake up the next day filled with bang-regret? I still love mine. Kudos to Annette for courage shown.
The grass is really greener - I'm already looking forward to going back for round 3 of the brazilian with Lavish.
Oh and last thing, she serves a delicious tea! -

I have been a client of Lisa Ha for over a year now. I went to see her to get a Brazilian Blowout, because of all the wonderful reviews I read about her. She did a fabulous job and I was thrilled about how it looked and felt. She also made some suggestions on the coloring of my hair and I was happy with the girl who colored it. But I decided to let Lisa do it and I never looked back!!! I have received so many complements on my hair and several of my friends have gone to Lisa and they love her too! She she keeps up to date on the latest styles and knows her stuff!!!
With the Brazilian my hair is manageable and I don't have to spend allot of time on it....;priceless for my busy life style. -

I feel bad giving Lavish a lower rating. My story- I was one of the apparently many who signed up for the Living Social deal for a Brazilian Blowout. I also tacked on a haircut. Getting an appointment was understandably hard, given the influx of new clients a promo like that will create. Annette was very nice by phone, email and ultimately in person. The salon itself is small, with three chairs, but the vibe is warm and welcoming.
But, I was there for the Brazilian Blowout, right? My hair is naturally just a little wavy, and I wanted it done primarily to cut down on my morning drying time and frizz. My first time getting the Blowout (exact same product/process, supposedly) was at a Carlton Hair in So Cal in March. Then, my hair looked as shiny as glass and felt like soft silk, lasting about 2 months. I was really looking forward to a repeat.
I was surprised when the Blowout and a haircut took just about 90 minutes from start to finish. I chalked it up to efficiency from all the practice she must be getting these days. It's now just a week out and from the first wash til now, my hair looks and feels exactly like it did the day BEFORE I got the blowout.
All in all, I'm just disappointed. I know what the Brazilian Blowout is capable of and I certainly didn't get it (I am using all the "official" products for shampoo and conditioner, like I did the first time). My haircut was good, but $75 felt a little steep for a fine cut. Annette is very nice and super professional, but I'm basically left with the same hair I had a couple weeks ago minus $200 plus a $50 tip. -

The owners of this oh-so-lovely salon make beauty their business. Lorenzo & Annette Avila have factored in all of the little things that make for a pleasurable & relaxing experience in personal care. From the delicious French press coffee that fills the air with rich, carmelly aroma, to the lovely, modern/industrial decor in a cozy and inviting space, getting your hair or make-up done at Lavish is a multi-sensory aesthetic experience.
Lavish, though its moniker suggests excess, is certainly not over the top- that is, unless you want it to be that way! There are a bevy of services that you can choose from, from a simple haircut, to custom highlights (the place is in the Marina, after all), or make-up and hairstyling for a special occasion such as a wedding.
The price of the various services are balanced with the attentive care provided and the costs are reasonable enough to merit regular visits to the Lavish Studio on Lombard when you're in need of a rejuvenating treatment to make you shine from the outside in.
What sets Lavish Hair & Make-Up Studio apart is the strict attention to detail and personable service. There are no snooty attitudes or pretense that can sometimes interfere with the overall outcome of a visit to a salon. Okay, so I was really skeptical about the Brazilian blowout because I have really curly hair, and I actually love my curls, I just find them very overwhelming and inconsistent and unmanageable. So, I figured I would give the Brazilian a try, and hell it washes out in 3 months if it turns me into a Person Without Character.
BUT OMG I FREAKING LOVE IT! My hair is still curly, but it is now soft, luscious, LOW MAINTENANCE, beautiful curls.
Jade, who did the whole treatment, was so knowledgable, professional, and delightful that I wanted to take the chick out to dinner or something. Seriously a keeper. All in all, I'm SO happy and haven't felt this great about myself since the day I got my braces off (which was a long time ago). YAY! -

If you live in SF and haven't had your hair cut and colored by Annette then you have never seen your hair at its best.
Last August I trusted Annette with a very daunting task...cutting off 11 inches of my hair. I havent had short hair since the god awful pixie I got when I was 7.
I have never thought I was a short hair girl until Annette got a hold of my locks. I can't tell you how many of her business cards I have given away because of the cut and color she gave me.
Now I just walk in and tell her she can do what eer she wants...I trust her THAT much :)

I had the pleasure of having Annette give me a Brazilian Blowout! I was nervous being a black woman in a white hair salon, but Annette is just a sweetheart and very down to earth and GREAT at her job! I have a LOT of hair and she was able to tackle and tame it into the silken waves promised by the Brazilian blowout. The Treatment is usually $250 and up and worth every penny. It has been a week since I got mine and I still look Fabulous! Keep an eye out for Living social/groupon, ect for discounts on the services. If you find one for Lavish jump on it! Your hair will thank you! Thank you Annette!!!

Got a BB on Wednesday through the Living Social Deal. I washed my hair for the first time today.... Love it! Silky and straight... Took 5 minutes to do. My hair is very think and frizzy and usually takes me about 45 min to an hour to do. I am actually shocked! I will be going back. The guy who did my hair only blew out my hair once with the solution on. He offered to wash and blow it out again, but I decided not to because it looked so nice.

I've been seeing Annette for over 6 years in total, from many different western locales. When I went to school in LA and she was still in Reno, I would wait to go home to get my hair cut by her. When she moved to SF and I was in Reno, I drove out here overnight to get my hair cut and colored by her. She is fantastic at everything hair and makeup-related. She tends toward funner, funkier 'dos, and is experienced with bright colors (as well as more subdued, sophistocated styles.) I ask for, and get something different every time I go in and have never once been dissatisfied. I can't say enough great things about Annette at Lavish, and trust that she only hires the best stylists to work in her shop, so no matter who you see, you'll end up with great hair! A+, 5 stars.

Annette came out to our hotel for my wedding and transformed us into models! So I gave her four stars on a quality job. I really loved my hair and makeup for my wedding! However, Annette has a pretty cool personality most of the time but can be abrupt at times. For this reason I can only give her a four star rating. For the record, her partner/assistant was very nice. So watch how you say things and you can double your business.

I also feel ripped off by the living social deal from this salon for a brazilian blowout. I am not new to having this treatment, so I know the process and how it is properly done. So I showed up and Jade (who by the way is a very lovely girl and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about her, just the salon practice). She washed my hair and I made sure they were using the proper shampoo to wash. Then she put the product through my hair, dried it with a brush and then flat ironed it. THis is where this salon stops with the blowout!!!!!! A true blowout should then rinse the hair again, apply a mask to the hair, rinse that and then apply a soothing serum. When I questioned where the rest of the process was, I was told that this is what they do and that I purchased a deal. I was shocked! Next time they offer a deal it needs to state "Half of a brazilian blowout!" Thank goodness I already had the shampoo and conditioner to try to save it since the blowout was not properly done. STAY AWAY from this service at this salon!! The salon owner should be ashamed!

What can I say? I loved the ambiance and space of Lavish. Definitely a little treat in the Marina. I went there for my trial hair and make up for my wedding and I thought Annette was great! I loved that I could describe (with no pics) what I wanted and she delivered. I LOVED my hair and make up and kinda felt like a princess. (is that what you're supposed to feel on your wedding day, can't wait!!!) I thought she was very reasonable for her services and I can't wait for the wedding. If I weren't super loyal to my hair lady and she were in my neighborhood, I would see her for my everyday hair services. Thanks Annette!!

I LOVE Annette! She did my hair for my wedding and it looked beautiful! She's an excellent hairstylist and always knows what type of hairstyle would look best on her clients. She works fast and can do a haircut and highlights in less than 2 hours. I never have to tell her what I want for my hair because she seems to always know what looks good on me, and she's usually right!

Annette styled my hair for my wedding a year ago and I still get people complimenting pictures of my hair that day. She was so fantastic! I had booked an appointment with another Nob Hill salon but I wasn't feeling good about them after the practice hair. It was less than 3 weeks to the wedding and I didn't think I had options. I found Annette here, on Yelp, and called her. She was booked the day of my wedding but she called one of her regular clients, moved them around and made it work. She was even able to get me in quick to do practice hair and make up. I looked amazing on that day and I owe it all to Annette!

Love Annette. She is a great stylist. She listens to what your life is like before pouncing on your head. She did a cut, color, and jazzy style that lasted me a long time. I am very busy and don't have time to frequent a hair salon for 2 hours. My hair grew out with a nice flow and it took a long time to show that I even color my greys away. She is fun too:)

Annette did an amazing job!! Exactly what I wanted for my wedding day. I called with only about a month before the day and she managed to squeeze me in by waking up earlier and doing my hair when she could have been sleeping! I loved her and her work. And she's not offended if you tell her you don't like it and want her to change something!

I don't know what to say...I love Annette! A friend recommended me to her almost two years ago, and I got hooked. Since then, she has worked with at least five other friends of mine. I really don't ever want to trust my hair color or cut to anyone else. She is amazing at both. Sadly, I recently moved away from Annette to LA, but made sure last time I was in San Francisco that I got an appointment with her. I have changed my hair drastically (for me) a few times in the year, and I have loved it. Annette always listens to exactly what I want, and does it beautifully. I have nothing but great things to say about Annette!

My daughter used and raved about Eric as her hairdresser in SF before she moved East. When it was time to reserve someone to do bridal hair and make-up for my daughter's wedding in the Bay Area, Eric highly recommended his boss at Lavish, Annette Avila.
Annette and her crew came to Marin to our hotel to do hair and make-up the morning of the wedding, and were so skillful and professional. Annette had already done two advance trials for my daughter to achieve exactly the look the bride wanted. And Annette & her crew's work on the rest of us was fantastic. My daughter literally looked like a princess on her wedding day, as many people remarked.
Annette is the consummate professional, and is very quick to understand exactly what is desired. Highest recommendation. -

Annette is great; she has been doing my haircuts and color for years. Recently, I had the Brazilian Blowout and it was awesome. Annette did a great job and it is the first time I have been able to cut my hair short and not have it become a frizzy uncontrolled mess. It is so easy and has given me much more flexibility with choice of cut. BTW, I used the Living Social deal for the BB that Annette offered and had no problems..

Eric Hayes is one of the best discoveries I've ever made. Eric has only been cutting my hair for a short time, but he will be my one and only from now on! Since he started cutting my hair, I have actually received COMPLIMENTS on my hair. I have NEVER received compliments on my hair - seriously. I have difficult hair, often exceptionally unattractive hair... Eric made me feel like I have pretty hair! For that, I love him. Eric recently moved to this salon, so if you are an old client of his - do not fear - you've found him. If you've not had the pleasure of receiving a cut from Eric - make an appointment. You, too, can have pretty hair!

Annette!! Annette!!! Annette! That is all I have to say. The woman knows her hair and make up. I was in and out in 1 hour, and I never even had a hair trial. The weather was ridiculous (i.e., 90+ in SF, i know unheard of, but of course that is what happened on my wedding day...figures...) but Annette made my makeup flawless. Everything stayed on the way it was supposed to and she was super nice as well. This was my first time at Lavish and I will definitely go back!

The stylists (i.e., ask for Joi!) at Lavish work their miracles every time. Never before did I receive so many continual complements from co-workers, family, and friends on my hair style. I also go to Lavish because my work schedule is full and I can always depend on things being on time. The salon has a very inviting interior and each time I arrive, I am served with a beverage. The design of the salon provides more spacing between stations and separate rooms for changing and sinks/basin for washing hair. I'm a 30-something year old professional male who has no idea about hair styles, so I continually go to Lavish because I can depend on leaving with a fantastic outcome. The location is ideal because it is in the Marina District but not too far in -meaning I usually find parking off Lombard or Octavia Streets. One time I had to utilize the parking lot in the adjacent hotel for a very small cost. The only thing missing from Lavish is the valet parking (only kidding).

My friend Anne encouraged me to go to see Annette and I can tell you she is worth it. Annette gave me a fantastic haircut and color. Annette is incredibly talented and skilled. I highly recommend. I'm relocating to London this week but I intend on making future appointments with her when I come back to the area for visits.

This review is for Camilla. She is just really amazing with cuts and color. She listens to what you want and your hair ends up even better than what you had in mind. I'm a low maintance hair styler and she keeps that in mind. I just shower and go and all is good. Besides her amazing talent as a hair stylist she has wonderful energy as she is so real and so fun to be around.
