We took advantage of the special they have going right now which is buy one package get one half off and did the bath treatment followed by a 60 min massage.

The place is located on HWY 29 just before the turn to go into downtown Calistoga.  I imagine the parking on weekends can be difficult but we went on a Friday and were able to park in the one spot they have in front of the building.

Our bath treatment was in a large building located along the hillside.  The bathtubs were in a room that also had a restroom in it.  The bathtubs themselves were the big deep white kind that you can just sink into.  They provided water, face scrub and moisturizer and would periodically come in to check on the water temperature and offer cucumbers for your eyes and cool towels.  It was a very relaxing experience and a great way to prep the body for the massage.  After the bath we went up to another room in the same building and laid on the massage table while our feet were massage.  After the bath treatment we went back to the main building and had our massages.

The massage was fantastic.  I think being relaxed and having my muscles heated up from the bath definitely helped with the massage.  My therapist was superb, I told her my problem areas and she paid special attention to those parts and even showed me some exercises I can do at home that will help.  I have had several massages and this was the first time I felt super relaxed and not overly or under worked afterwards.

I live a couple hours away but am trying to figure out how to fit this in my schedule a couple times a year.  It's totally worth it and I would recommend it to anyone who likes pampering themselves.

    1/16/2012 Purchased a Yelp Deal 1 Check-in Here

I took my boyfriend here for a relaxation bath for our 6th anniversary. They were offering a yelp deal, $25 for a $50 gift certificate to use toward spa service. So I of course took advantage of that and booked us 2 baths for Saturday.

Upon arriving, we checked in the front and took the girl which bath we are interested in. I got the volcanic mud bath (which isn't really bathing in mud), but more like volcanic powder mix with water. My boyfriend got a mineral bath which has different scents to choose from.

Once we picked out what our baths are we got seated in the front lobby while our attendant went to a private cabin out back to get out tubs ready. Once we're in the cabin there's 2 bathtubs with bubbles on top of the water for privacy, 2 beds for either body wraps and foot rubs. There's a bathroom with a tub and 2 robes for use. Our attendant left us for about 5 minutes so we can undress and get into the tubs. She comes back in every now and then to check on us and make sure the water temperatures are okay. The tubs also has a jet spray feature. One thing I must say about the tubs is they are slippery and the head rest is at a position where you'll slide down when u relax. The whole time while
I'm in the tub I feel as if I'll slip under if I fall asleep. They should put a foot stopper inside so when your legs are stretched out it acts as a stopper also. But overall, the bath we got were really relaxing!

The volcanic bath is really warm so beware! It actually isn't the water being hot but more of the chemical warming up your core blood inside so you feel heat from within. There's mask you can put on while relaxing and cold cucumber slices for the eyes and a cool towel.

After the bath you'll lay down on the beds in the room and receive a foot rub. Which in all honesty, it's just having lotion rub onto your foot.

They are offering a package deal where you'll get 50% off 2nd package when you get 1. This is a great deal if you want a complete relaxation package!!

I will visit Lavender Hill Spa again when I want a relaxing bath. Next time I might try the mineral bath instead of volcanic.

If you never experienced a volcanic mud bath ( bit of a misnomer ), deep tissue massage and reflexology you should treat yourself .Spend a few bucks to treat yourself.  You're in a tranquil setting ( especially the bath part ).  Soft music plays in the background.

It's a relatively small place. The staff are very professional.  I spent three hours there.  The longest portion was devoted to a deep muscle tissue massage for 1 1/2 hours......wonderful.

I recommend treating yourself to this at least once in your lifetime.

Took advantage of the YELP discount which was a nice savings.  Many services to choose from from facials, baths, and many different massages.  I chose the deep tissue.  My massuse used wonderful techniques, but the pressure was much too light, even after asking for deeper. Lavender Hill is very calming, clean and offer a very soothing environment. I would return!

Super quaint and cozy spa. It's a nice place for a retreat with a friend or romantic trip with your boo. The massages are great, and the baths are super relaxing. My only advice is to avoid the volcanic ash... while I may have healing properties, I didn't like the ash IN my assh...twas a strange and grainy substance and it looked dirty (of course its black ashes). Not my thing. The other baths however are really soothing plus they bring you fruit spa water with strawberries and oranges or lemons.
I've been here twice and the staff is helpful and professional.

Couples Escape w/20% off promtion =$303 and some cents (gratuity not included)

Most romantic and relaxing 2hours I have ever experienced.

I'm going to try to write about things that were not mentioned in other reviews.

I didn't expect much from Lavender Hill Spa since I experienced Indian Springs Resort, but this place is hands down perfect for couples.Try to ask for the cottage that has the massage beds, bathroom, and bath tubs. It was fun to walk up to that cottage, which was cute and tidy inside. I think some reviewers did not get that cottage, and it really does make a difference. I did not hear any traffic noise nor talking from the workers since it was only my bf and I in there. Also, it was up in the hill far from the street.

What made this experience more romantic than expected were the optional facial products that they offer for you and your other half to put on each other during the bath soak. It really kicked the romance up a notch. Surprisingly, the bathtub had jet. For the ladies, they supply hairties and new packaged combs.

The therapeutic massage almost put me to sleep except I could not fall asleep since my bf already fell asleep and his deep breathing kept me up.

I took a star off because they clean the bath tubs when you are waiting for your footrub. The sounds of the faucet turning on and off and the scrubbing of the tub were pretty annoying. I guess they have to do it then since they do not give you a time limit at the end of your session to change.

Anyways, it felt like bang for the buck. TOTALLY WORTH IT!

I came here twice and I wasn't disappointed. The place is small and cozy. Customer service is superb, and hot  stone massage rocks (no pun intended)!

Yes, there are some minor disappointments with traffic noise, but I value customer service and quality treatments first, which this place is great for. Hey, perfect experience unfortunately cost a big buck, which I don't think worth spending on a back rub. So, if you like great customer service and quality treatments, ignore the minor disappointments and enjoy your experience ;)

    The good:
The bath house is full of ambiance. You can hear the traffic, but bath was very relaxing so I didn't care.
    Everyone was really nice.

    The bad:
I expected traffic noise because of location, and the yelp warnings. What I didn't expect was the staff of the place talking at the top of their lungs in the next room during my massage. I understand that is where she was using the phone to take an appointment for another guest and greet people but holy smokes, never in my life! Might as well have gotten a massage in the janitors closet in SFO.

Would not suggest any of my friends go here, even with the prices being lower than most places. Do yourself a favor and suck it up and splurge on a place with thicker walls.

Note: The spa manager contacted me and was very nice. So, a good review for customer service but I still feel like it was lacking for a spa.

My family & I went to this spa for birthday treat for our mom's 60th birthday. We specifically chose it because of it's buy one get one 50% special going on & the rave reviews on Yelp. We all had a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly & professional. I chose a salt scrub, massage & facial package (includes some bath time). My skin felt so soft by the time I was done. My sister even noted that my face was glowing. It is small location, but the facilities are beautiful.

You might easily drive by it as you're entering Calistoga. Like other people said there isn't a lot of parking, but there was a spot for us when we were there.

There was also some miscommunication wiht the final bill, but the receptionist at the time, Corrina (I think that was her name), was very professional about it & everything was settled diplomatically. I would definitely recommend this day spa.

We bought a volcanic ash bath, foot rub, and body massage package.  The ash bath was a bubble bath in gray water with the jets going full speed. The foot rub was an attendant applying lotion to the feet. There was no foot rub or massage of any kind. The bathing area was located in a separate part of the house. We had to walk outside wearing a thin robe carrying our clothing, purse, and shoes.  When we arrived inside the house, we had to walk by the reception wait area parading in front of clients waiting for their baths. I wound up with a therapist by the name of Sally.  She did the same as the attendant doing the foot rub. She applied lotion to my body, but without the massage. Definite pass on this biz.

Used a Travelzoo special 2-1 couple bath / massage package.  Baths very nice, we opted for the Thai bath.  Nice smell, very relaxing.  Attendant came in a few times to check on temperature, give us cool towels, turn on jets if we wanted.  Followed up with a short foot massage.  We were then escorted down to the main building and two separate rooms for massages.  Both of us enjoyed them a bunch.  If your very reserved, that walk down from the bath area to the main building might be kind of funky since your outside and then walk through the waiting area, but honestly its no big deal.  This is not some super high end spa with a sauna or whirlpool to use before hand, which is why I kept it from 5 stars, but with all the deals they offer, its a nice place.  I did not notice the car noise except for the one time I actually tried to hear it to see if it really was a big deal.  As soon as I didn't focus on it, I could not tell at all.

    Good value for money!!

Hubby & I came here on a weekday afternoon (made the appointment a few days earlier) and got the couples volcanic ash baths for $99. They seemed busy, so it's best to make an appointment beforehand.

The location had very little parking space, but we were able to grab one right upfront. There's also parking on the street if you're lucky!

We were escorted to a private little cottage, which was basically a large room with two bath tubs and two single beds + a bathroom to get changed in. Very basic, nothing fancy but definitely clean and inviting.

The volcanic ash isn't as muddy as regular mud baths, so you barely realize it's there until you get out of the bath to rinse off!!  We were given fresh cucumber water to drink while we soaked, ice cold wash cloths to place on our foreheads and there was a little plate with a delicious DIY facial scrub & moisturizer to use whenever we liked.

I was a little embarrassed that the lady kept coming in every ten minutes or so...so I had to keep making sure there were enough bubbles to cover up the ladies (I'm pathetic, I know! but I'm just a tad old skool about these things). But other than that, it was super relaxing being pampered together (but separately) with my hubby!

After our soak (around 15-20mins) - during which time you can add hot water to your bath if you like - we were asked to dry off and lie on the two beds laid out. The lady then returned to give us both a (very) gentle foot rub after laying lavender filled compresses over our eyes. It was super relaxing, but I can't say the foot rub was much of a massage. I'm a reflexology junkie so a little more pressure would've hit the spot, but take it as an added bonus after the bath and you'll enjoy it anyway! If I found it tame, just imagine my poor hubby and his hoofs :) he thought a feather was tickling him!!

All in all - it's definitely worth $99 for two. I wouldn't want to pay any more than that. Oh - if you're hungry afterwards, just walk down to the BBQ place down the road. It's soooooo delicious!!!

Our Calistoga getaway package included a mineral bath treatment at Lavender Hill Spa.

Besides the tacky, almost fluorescent lavender colored building, our experience was perfect. By the time we reached our private cottage, our baths have been drawn for us. The cottage itself was spacious, with all the essential amenities available.

Their volcanic mud bath is not the traditional thick mud. Instead it was a combination of volcanic ash, mineral salts, and oil. It was very soothing as the minerals worked its magic on my skin. I found myself drifting away under the ambient lighting and relaxation music. I really wanted to stay in the bath forever.

The blanket wrap and foot massage that followed was a blur. We laid there as our bodies cooled off from the baths and our feet skillfully massaged. We fell fast asleep.

The person in charge of our treatment was great. She gave us much privacy but was also very attentive. I don't know how else to describe our experience except it was just what we needed. There was warmth and comfort. Everyone was friendly and professional. I highly recommend it!

What an amazing surprise this was! My husband treated me to a Mommy-to-Be bath and prenatal massage package here. He also enjoyed a bath and massage as well. This place is small but you can't miss it because the building is lavender.

We checked in at the front desk and were quickly taken to our bath tubs. It was so quiet and relaxing we loved it. My husband had the volcanic mud bath and I had the Mother-to-Be bath which the water was cooler and had coconut milk in it. My skin felt so soft. They also left us some facial scrubs and face moisturizers to use while in the tub. The lady helping us came in a few times to check on us, refill our waters and then give us a nice cool eye mask for our eyes which was a really nice touch. After the bath was over, she had us go lay down on the massage tables where she gave us both a very nice and gently foot rub.

The surprises kept coming though! After the foot rub we were both escorted to our individual rooms for our massages. My massage was much different then I had ever experienced. It was much gentler and lighter then what I am use to but with being pregnant, I understood that my massage would be a little different. I enjoyed every bit of and it was very relaxing and the massage therapist I had was kind and gentle. I felt great after!

Highly recommend this place if you and your sweetie are wanting to treat each other to some spoiling. I would definitely come back when in the area again!

Came here for a couples bath/massage treatment.  The bath house was really cute - the pillows held in place on the giant tubs so that you could face each other, we had our own little private bathroom, robes and slippers.  We tried the aromatherapy mineral and the mud bath, they brought us cold water with orange slices in it to drink and popped in a couple of times with ice cold wash cloths for our foreheads or back of the neck.  Afterwards, wrapped in blankets, you lay side by side with lavender eye pillows and get a foot massage.  After the warm bath and foot massage we both felt super relaxed

The only slightly awkward part is when the bath is done and you walk back to the main house, you come into the waiting room where all new guests are waiting still in street clothes and you're in your bathrobe with an attendant carrying a mesh bag with all of your clothes and shoes.  It was just a little funny but I guess those people were all there for the same thing.

I had Lee for my massage.  She was fantastic, throughout the massage I felt so relaxed and my mind was able to travel off dreaming - I think I was in some stage of light sleep the entire time.  When it was over I felt so great and relaxed and though I couldn't tell you exactly what the massage entailed, it was amazing!!  My boyfriend had a very similar experience with his masseuse - they really know what they're doing!

Aaah-mazing massage services in a great location at affordable prices. We made a same-day weekday appointment for a 60-min prenatal massage and a 60-min therapeutic massage for baby daddy, and were quickly fit in for the afternoon. They also honored the 20% discount advertised on Yelp, so each massage came out to $79 - the best deal we found in town.

We found street parking right in front of the spa. The location is beautiful and zen, though I must admit my bias as a lavender color lover. We waited in the back garden area while sipping on cucumber infused water. The front desk staff were super nice. Importantly, our masseuses were very professional and knowledgeable. I agree with other posters that the front room can get noisy as it faces the highway, but the quality of the service I received compensated for this.

    I definitely recommend this spa!

We came here after seeing the great Yelp review that this place have. Plus, it's super close from our hotel. The common area is kinda small, but you only need to check in here, so it's not a big deal. Since I got the couple's massage, my bf and I were directed to a hut adjacent to the main house.

The massage room is pretty spacious and clean. The area close to the door is equipped with 2 massage tables and the next room has the bath tubs. I prefer a darker and warmer room with some aromatherapy, so this room is just ok.

My bf likes his massage, the massage therapist (a guy) seems to untie all of his knots and gives strong enough pressure for his liking. I think mine is ok but it was my first massage so I can't really tell.

It was a good experience, but not mind blowing, so I will look for a place with nicer ambiance next time.

I feel like I've been led astray by my fellow yelpers.  That or my expectations were set to be inline with regular Napa spas or even Canton, Ohio spas.

This is a small spa.  Think your house converted into a spa.  When I arrived, there was nowhere to park but on the street.  Fortunately for parking sake, that was close, but more on that later.  I think they might have two to four parking spots here...I uploaded a picture of the parking area.

The building is small and strikes me as being rather old.  Though it is clean.  There is a small reception area that left me wondering what I was about to get myself into.  I was greeted by friendly staff, and  my bath options were explained.  I had come to Calistoga for a 'mud bath' but found out that's not what one gets here - and one can't cancel their appointment when one finds out about the 'mud bath' the day of their appointment.  It's more like some ash sprinkled into bath water.  Ok, for a whole heck of a lot less than $85 (maybe $5?) I can pulverize a (that's one) volcanic grill rock, throw it into my Jacuzzi with some Bath and Body Works Bath Salts and have the same thing.  They asked me if I'd like the water jets turned on (about half way through) and I said yes.  They started a blower which blew bubbles around the side of the tub. Ok, this is neither a mud bath nor a jetted bath.   This has nothing to do with mud (thick or thin).  Don't believe me?  Make some thin, watery mud and put it into a cup. Then put this "Volcanic Mud Bath" into a cup beside it.  Then, go find some six year olds, and ask them to pick which is mud.  I'm going to predict the outcome.  Lavendar Hill - Stop advertising this as a Volcanic Mud Bath - especially in Calistoga which is known for real mud baths - and call it what it is.  A few table spoons of ash added into a tub of bath salts. This was very disappointing.

Then I went for my relaxing massage.  Ok, remember that convenient street parking? Well, when one is getting a massage and listening to the soft flutes, you also get to enjoy the motorcycles and heavy trucks gearing up as they start from the intersection a stones throw from the treatment room.  And to top it off, someone was outside - I can't make this up - with a chain saw at full song cutting something up most of the time I was trying to relax. Apparently no one from the spa tried to curtail that.  That or the guy with the chain saw didn't care.  Again, very disappointing.  I will say that the masseuse was very good, but that didn't make up for the motorcycles, trucks, and chain saw.  Yea, the chain saw is a one off, but I can't see the others going away.

I also had a facial.  Ok, again, not the kind of facial I would have expected.  No lamp to check the skin, apparently no customized treatment, and the facial was done in the middle of the massage.  That's interesting.  Again, the person performing the facial - that also happened to be the masseuse - did a good job, but the spas facial program left me wanting.

So there is my $215 experience.  Maybe there is some magic about the allure of being here with your wife, fiance, or girlfriend, but as a spa day trying to stand on its own for one guy, the house of cards came down.

    I would not come back.

A pristine 5-star day spa... this place is not. BUT- if you are looking for a clean, quality day spa for just you- or a nice get away with your friend or partner... the Lavender Hill Spa is definitely worth going to!

I went with my hubbin for a romantic getaway - and we were very impressed with the friendly staff, the cleanliness of the spa - and the price can not be beat (they were running a buy one massage/ get one half-off promotion when I went).

    - Treat yourself to the bath service! Enter a private cottage where they fill two GIANT tubs with lots o' bubbles & aromatherapy. Ahhhh... sit in there for 45 minutes or so and feel the stress melt away.
    - Lay on a massage table and cool down after your bath with an AMAZING foot rub (complimentary with the bath service)
    - Get an hour long massage by Claude if you can. He has been a masseuse for 35 years... and is very knowledgeable of the body and the art of massage. One of the best (if not the best) massage I have ever had!

You will love this place! Promise!

This is probably the worst spa we had been to in napa. Not only was it small, the spa itself was forgettable. When we get to the spa room, or should I say a small room with 2 bathtubs and 2 beds, I was utterly shock. WTF is this??
The so called spa package involved laying in the bathtub for forty minutes, a blanket wrap, and some lame rubbing on your feet. I could do that on my own at home.

So maybe I am missing something.

My two friends and I were excited about this spa after we visited our good ol' reliable amigo, Yelp.   But all three of us agreed that something was off.

The building is cute and inviting.  Not much space for parking but it wasn't particularly busy when we visited so it worked out that afternoon.

My esthetician had a mini-chat with me about my wishes for the facial and told me that there wouldn't be any extractions.  I know that's the least enjoyable part of any facial but that's pretty much why I get them.   I asked if I could get it done if I wanted to and was told no. Bummer.

The facial was nice but I couldn't get over the fact that I wanted more.  More pressure. More lotion. More time to let it absorb.  More more more.

When I was done my hair was oily since they don't put a separator on the forehead.  Overall I felt like I had lots of product on me but didn't feel refreshed. Didn't feel clean.

I left happy but not satisfied. Just like 3 stars. When my friends and I got together post-facial we were all on the same page.  We wanted more.  Yet, while we weren't 100% with the result we had different complaints.

My friends said that their esthetician never mentioned what was being put on, didn't talk about their skin, etc.  Mine did that.  I had a pre-facial chat. They didn't. They had a foot massage. I didn't.   It occurred to me that that was a problem. If I get a facial at a certain place I should have a similar experience no matter who I get but Lavender doesn't seem to follow a protocol.

Lastly, it's just a matter of preference.  If you want a fun, lotion filled laydown, this is a perfect facial. If you want work done and get clean, this is not.

What an adorable, charming and intimate spa!  My boyfriend and I were in Calistoga for a wedding and took the time for a couples massage at Lavender Hill spa, and it was an incredibly romantic and relaxing experience!

We came in on a rainy day and were immediately offered tea (yummy cinnamon vanilla tea) and water while we waited for our masseuses as we were a few minutes early.

Betsi and Sally were our masseuses and led us to the couples cottage which housed 2 bathtubs and small restroom in one section of the cottage and 2 massage tables with a small fireplace and french doors leading to the garden in the other section.  We both commented about wishing we had also booked the bath treatments as it looked so relaxing!

Betsi worked with my bf and Sally worked on me for a 60 minutes (I wish it was 90 minutes!).  They had some soft music playing but we requested to turn it down and just listened to the rain; it must have really drowned out the street noise, because neither of us heard any.

Both of our massages were incredible, we kept commenting after how much we enjoyed them, particularly the foot massages.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the massages and the experience, thank you Lavender Hill Spa!

We enjoyed our spa experience at Lavender Hill. Tried the mud ash bath and one hour massage as a couple.  We've already tried a true mud bath and wanted to try something more spa like and relaxing. While the location near the highway isn't ideal, this is a spa staffed with season vets and professionals. We left very relaxed and found the experience wonderful.

This is a great charming spa that is located in what used to be an older house.  Right away, we noticed parking is a bit cramped here so be prepared for that.   The ambience is very simple, buddhist and zen-like - not over the top luxury here but the affordable prices make up for that.

I recommend the hot stone massage ($119 for one hour).  The hot stones felt amazing and was super relaxing.  The whole time i was thinking - what did i do to deserve this?  If you can - try to request getting one of the back rooms.  The front room which i was in was a bit noisy since it faced the street and the sound of the cars kind of took over the tranquil music.

The website says they give you a robe/sandals but i didn't get one.  Wasn't really necessary but just don't expect it.

This is a five-star review for what Lavender Hill is, not what it is not (Solage).  It is one of the best values in Calistoga spas, of which there are many.  This is the only one to which I return.

I visited Lavender Hill for the third time this past weekend, for a 30 minute massage and 30 minute facial with Tami.  Ask for Tami!  She's just terrific, friendly, warm, and focused on all of the things I asked for.

In the past, I've had a 60-minute massage here (that was so-so because of the person who did it, and that was two years ago so she may not even be there anymore) and a bath followed by a massage and salt glow.  If you want your skin to look fabulous in a sundress for a special occasion in the area, get their salt glow.

What I really love is Lavender Hill's version of a mud bath.  I do not care for regular mud baths, as I feel like I'm being buried alive and my chest is going to cave in from the weight of the hot mud.  Panic is not a relaxing experience.  I'm also not keen on sitting in mud that another human has been in.  Fortunately, that's not what Lavender Hill offers: their mud baths are drawn once and only once and are not the heavy, crushing kind; they're mixed with water.  You get all the benefits of a mud bath without the pull-the-bell-you-woke-up-in-a-coffin feeling.

Went here for our anniversary for a couple's treatment, which included a bath, relaxing foot rub, and massage in the private cottage.

There are a lot of choices for the kind of bath you want, from mud to aromatherapy salts. We went for the moisturizing kind, and it included cool cloths (the attendant kept our baths on the not-too-hot side since it was 90 degrees out) and a do-it-yourself facial scrub. The bathtubs are big and beautiful and you get positioned so you can easily see each other and talk, but be forewarned if you are a short girl like most Filipinas (ahem, that's me), you'll spend some time readjusting so you don't slide backwards and dunk yourself. The bathtubs are just too long and slippery to brace yourself or get traction.

The ladies who did our deep tissue massage were very skilled and up there in terms of doing a quality "real" deep tissue massage, since I have knots that make a male sumo masseur sweat.

All in all, very nice ending to our anniversary weekend.

I came for a spa experience, and got a much needed New York attitude adjustment.

Lavender Hill Spa was a compromise on two levels. I really really wanted to get out of the state for my birthday, but alas no more last-minute deals: a Vancouver jaunt was prohibitive and three days wasn't enough for an NYC fix. So, an out-of-town venture would have to do, and I wanted a mud bath, but apparently The Husband has a phobia: fear of mud in butt crack. Yes, that's what keeps a marriage enticing -- all the things you never suspected about your spouse.

Reading the Yelp reviews, I settled on the couple's treatment for the volcanic ash. We were delivered to the private cottage where two bubble baths with a sprinkling of ash awaited. Oddly though, after the foot rub, we then went back inside the main spa to get our separate massages, rather than on the two beds that were already there -- I actually forgot to ask why.

And truth be told, my husband and I have been spoiled by Thai women who tch-tch at the poor state of my body as they manhandle me, and that reigns at our favorite massage experience yet. However, I had Claud, and don't let the beret and long grey curly hair fool you into thinking, ah, a California New Age hippie. Herein beats the heart of a New Yorker, who lived in the city before Disney and Applebees' invaded Times Square, and biked around a dodgy Jamaica Plain in the 1970s. I have never talked through a massage in my entire life, but he and I talked about East Coast vs. West Coast attitudes, bemoaned the lack of good Jewish delicatessens in the Bay Area, and how a Hamsterdam (of "The Wire") exists in Vancouver, of all places.

Now, as a professional for 30-some years, Claud can do the massage-in-silence technique, and his fingers know what he's doing. But sometimes, the New York attitude fix is just what you need.

I went here for my bachelorette getaway and let me tell you this place is absolutely wonderful. I got a 3-part treatment including a tub soak, sugar scrub, and last but not least a massage. The little rooms there are so quaint, yet refreshing to see bright light throughout without worrying about privacy factors (window coverings all around.) The tubs are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The service is excellent, and more so, the outside environment gives you a zen kind of feeling. Water with lemon and cucumber are provided in the waiting area, and the service is calm and direct. In the common area by the cottages there are places to sit and relax at if you're with a group and are waiting.

If you go a couple blocks around the corner, you can plan to have lunch nearby at the Pioneer Park, very picturesque of an old town with gazebo and tons of lawn space for picnic-ing. Would love to come here again with my other half.

First of all, I want to thank Jessica, Vicki, and Alex for taking a really good care of my mother and I. :) They were all caring, friendly, and professional, and made great team.

Treatment itself and atmosphere were 4 stars, but -1 star for service. I waited for 1 month to write this review, and I tell you why in a bit...

I've known about Lavender Hill Spa and been wanting to try for many years. Since my mom came in to town from Japan to attend my graduation (PhD!), and it's right before mother's day, I've decided we should try for mother-daughter mini getaway.

We chose Queen of Flowers Salt Glow for my mom and Lavender Salt Glow for me after examining the website thoroughly. I called in to make the appointment and told the lady what we want. In the website (please see http://www.lavenderhil...), the description for Queen of Flowers Salt Glow reads like this: "This invigorating full body exfoliation leaves your skin soft, radiant and smelling heavenly.  This treatment is ONE hour and includes a luxury whirlpool bubble bath.     $95 per person
With 60 min. Aromatic Massage (2 hrs) $179
With 60 min. Aromatic Massage and 30 min. facial (2 1/2 hrs) $229

From this description, we both had an impression that it's only one hour treatment as a default. Therefore, I was surprised to find out during the massage session that we were actually signed up for 2 hours treatment. Yes, a nice lady whom I spoke to on the phone when I made our reservation said that first half is salt + bath, and the second half is massage. But she did NOT confirm if we wanted one hour salt glow treatment WITH massage in addition, and she just assumed it. Therefore, I completely thought that both fit in an hour. Yes, it was partly my fault not to double check, but it'd have been much less confusing if either the description on the website was clearer or I was explained clearly on the phone.

When I realized that on the massage table, I could no longer relax or enjoy the massage at all and started worrying about how much it will be!! (so -0.5 star for that!) At the end, since our treatment ended up being 2 hrs each, and it was midweek, our treatments qualified for Buy One, Get One Half Off package. So the damage (final bill) wasn't as bad as I feared, but definitely way more than I anticipated (a lot for a poor graduate student to cover for both of us since it was a mother's day gift from me).

It's true, what's most important was that my mom had a good time. And at least I had good time for the salt grow treatment,  but unfortunately not for the massage.

Since I really think this place has good thing to offer and wish to recommend to my friends or fellow yelpers, I decided to email them right away. I didn't want anybody to have a great experience jaded at all because of the misunderstanding. So I sincerely thank them for their service and suggested changing the description on the website and to make sure to confirm the service over the phone. Reply came next morning saying "thank you for taking the time to let us know about how the information on our website may be confusing.  This information allows us the opportunity to make corrections and offer even better service to our guests."

A month has passed and the website hasn't been changed yet. A bit disappointing, hence, another -0.5 star for that. Of course I haven't called in to make another appointment to see if they now double check the content of the reservation. But what I'm saying is, do your part and make sure you double check too.

Am I going to go back? Not sure yet. I really liked the private tubs in the small cottage. But I may just stay with my usual spa (BW) for now.

My husband and I got one hour massages for $79 (this was with the awesome 20% off coupon).  I was massaged by Bruce who did a fabulous job.  He has extra strong hands, so make sure to communicate with him if he is using too much pressure.  He was very receptive to the areas I wanted him to focus on.  If you don't like talking during your massage, I would kindly tell him that up front.   He is very friendly and will talk if you ask questions :)  The reason I didn't give the spa 5 stars is because of the noise from the nearby road and from other guests.  The spa is in an old victorian house which has thin walls, thin doors, and hardwood flooring.  You can hear everything.  Also, I like a darker room with candles when getting a massage.  My room had bamboo type coverings which allowed the sunlight to peak through.

However, the price and quality of service (yes the actual massage) makes up for the lack of a "Burke Williams" type of spa atmosphere.

I would definitely go back :)

Ahhh, this made for a perfect little couples one-day getaway. First of all, the drive up Hwy 29 is dreamy, meandering through vineyards and quaint (yet chic!) wine country towns. I grew up here and it still gets me.

Lavender Hill is VERY unassuming from thier humble purple cottage along the highway. But behind the little welcome house is a sanctuary of trickling fountains, terraced trees, and your own personal bath cottage. We went from nervous to overjoyed when we stepped into the bath house and saw 2 foamy tubs waiting.

The place is CLEAN, almost pristine. The baths look brand new...sparkling white with fancy modern fixtures. And the way they set them up right next to each other for the couples treatment was just expertly planned. We got to talk and hold hands (yes, we're that couple) while we soaked in our personally selected baths - Seasonal Mustard and Thai bath with coconut milk. Romantic, relaxing, what more could you ask for?

The bath attendant was great, she just told us what to do before we got in, came in about 15 minutes later to put cucumbers on our eyes, and about 20 mins later to put a cold towel on our heads (much-needed!) and check on us. They give you a big pitcher of water and a facial mask to use while you're in the tub. It's very self-service and they don't bug you too much, which was awesome.

When it came time to hop out, our attendant met us back at the massage tables (in the same cottage as the baths) and gave us each the most divine foot massages EVER! Oh, that was definitely the highlight.

Then for the couples massage.. I didn't know what to expect, but after the bath we were so delirious that it all just flowed without a care in the world. The masseuses jumped right in, spoke softly and told us which way to lay and began working it. We each had our own masseuse, of course. I nearly fell asleep it was so gentle and relaxing. The hour felt like much longer...always a good thing when it comes to massage.

They are real pros here and know how to make your experience exactly what you want. The entire place seems to be blessed with a peaceful, calming vibe that is sure to put it's spell on you. I am already plotting my next couples getaway to Lavender Hill. Pure bliss!

The best 2.5 hours. LHS couldn't have been more perfect for our anniversary. It's like you're in your own private cabin retreat.

Volcanic bath soak - The water was hot. Not super jacuzzi hot where you feel like you're boiling the boys,  but just the right temp to loosen up those stubborn stressed muscles. The tubs are extremely clean (like brand new clean) and washed after every soak. This was followed by a foot massage for us to cool down before our massages. It was a nice rub to get your mind completely off your stresses.

    The couple's massage
small detail: while it's always nice to have your S.O. with you for couples massage, you will have to cross the street to the other side for that . it's not bad but you do have to cross a busy street which may be awkward for some. We got robes from them and didn't let the gawkers in their cars bother us one bit. Singles massages are on the same side as the soaks.

The Massage - Both of our masseuses were extremely good. One of the best massages I've ever gotten.  Very knowledgeable on pressure points and working out "the knots". Nothing was forced out like some techniques. They worked gently to promote the blood flow to loosen up and increase circulation. They surveyed the area before applying pressure which made a huge difference to keep you in a relaxed state.

The wife and I have had stiff shoulders for months which none of our previous masseuses have been able to get out. LHS did its job and now we can't wait to go back. Best getaway for your mind, body and spirit. Thanks LHS.

The atmosphere of the place is cute and they do a reasonably good job of giving me a side of atmosphere with my hot water. I hate when it just feels like a big bathroom with a tub of mud, something that sets a tone or a mood makes it way better... basically I am asking for the room to flirt with me first. And their rooms are cozy little 2 person rooms with dim lighting, and the simple wooden decor works for me.

The baths themselves are a bit different then the typical mud bath in the area. They have a mud-esk bath as well as a number of bath water treatments you can choose from. i did the mud, my wife did the thai coconut milk one. All of them are basically water treatments, even the mud. By this I mean its still thin water, just cloudy ash/mud water. But its not the thick stuff that you can barely sink into. On the flip side, its in a normal tub and its run just for you (I know some people are ewwwed out by the fact that the mud in other places is reused again and again). The bath tub was padded which was nice, but it was also too small for even my 5 foot 10 inch body. I could not quite lay out in it and have my whole body up to my neck submerged. Overall I would say its a 3 star soak.

The massage on the other hand.... wow. So many times I have had massage person in training giving me some by the book boring massage. This guy had been doing massage for 30+ years. He started out by asking me some questions about what I do for a living etc. and then tailored the massage for me. It was surely one of the best massages I have had. Really top top notch, 5 stars all the way.

After doing some research, this place is by far the best price in town.

I planned a romantic getaway with my boyfriend and was looking for something that was low key and nothing too extravagant or pricey, just something that was simple and romantic.  We started with the volcanic ash mud bath which was 30 minutes and added the "time together" package, which offered a more romantic atmosphere and fruit plate.  The bath was amazing.  We were in giant tubs right next to each other.  The water stayed very hot and our attendant frequently checked on us.  After our bath, we laid down for a very nice foot rub, and then a 60 minute deep tissue massage.  This place is by far the best I have experienced.  We liked Katie and Bruce as our massage therapists.

I definitely recommend the lavender Hill Spa for couples and it's very very romantic.  The environment inside and out is very serene and calm.  We felt like we were a world away in a place that our lives slowed down and we could find peace.

I like this place a lot. It's smaller than I thought it would be (which is both great and not so great depending on what you are looking for) and it would benefit from a sauna/steam room to relax after a few hours of massage/facial/bath etc. My experience this past weekend was fantastic.

My friend and I signed up for weekend getaway and ordered up the "Girlfriends Special" or something like that. Seasalt scrub, essential oil bath, half hour massage and half hour facial. It was a little weird because this place is definitely geared toward couples and my friend and I were not a couple. We were in a room with two bathtubs and two massage tables. One of us was to soak in the bath while the other one was going to get a scrub, and then we would swap.

So the salt scrub was fantisimo. Felt great, lived up to all of my expectations. Soak made me overheat. But it was still great. :)

I have to especially commend the masseuse I had. She was AWESOME. I usually get these wimpy female hands with small pointy fingers. Her pressure was spot on. I tend to like more pressure, bordering shiatsu, and she totally got it. And, she was really informative too, giving me lots of information on massage in general, knots, all the good stuff. Facial included a seaweed mask and was good.

    Other great:
    - robes are lovely
    - slippers actually fit my feet!
    - we got to choose one of three different scents for salt scrub
    - got a solid (and hygenic) description of their mud baths (not reused)... makes me feel better about the establishment in general.

All in all, definitely far above average.  But the quaint wonderfulness that is their size also can be their enemy if you are going there looking for a Nob Hill Spa, you know what I mean?

Yeah, it was pretty nice -- the masseuse was very strong, capable and confident, which I like -- but honestly I would rather go back to funky old Doc Wilkinson's and do the mud thing instead of coming back here.
However I will say that the decor is beautiful. The owner travels to Thailand a few times a year to get massage ingredients and Buddha art for this place, the guy at the front desk told me.
The staff is all very very nice. But I prefer the mud thing, you know me.

My Lavender Hill Spa experience was supreme. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when I saw the outside of the building. But hey, don't judge a book by its cover or a spa by its exterior, in this case.

Lavender Hill first dazzled my mom and me with a couple of baths - she got the seaweed, I got the thai. It didn't stop there though, the baths were in our own private bath house and came complete with a foot massage, candles, relaxing music and lemon water. Mmmm, lemon water.

After the bath, we ventured on to part deux - the massage. Now, the last massage I had was crap, but my Lavender Hill massage experience put the ahhh back in massage (isn't that so ridiculous!? It did!). If you want your knots out, ask for Sean. My mom had Lee and said she also had a stellar massage.

Lavender Hill was the perfect mom-daughter getaway. I can't wait to go back. Check their website for good deals.

This place is great!  I'll just bullet point everything for simplicity's sake:

-Staff is great; very welcoming and all around nice people.  Everyone from the front desk, to the bath house assistant, to the masseuses.

    -Clean.  Very Clean.

-The bath house was great.  My girlfriend and I got a bathhouse with two little tubs next to one another.  We even got chocolate, and strawberries!
I got a mineral salt bath, and she got a seaweed bath.  This bath was followed up with a nice foot rub.

-My masseuse was Claude.  Great guy.  Okay, fantastic guy.  He was friendly, and a very warm fellow.  Nice man to chat with as well on and off during my massage.  Speaking of the massage -he was out of this world.  When I go back, I will definitely be looking to have a session with my man Claude.

All in all great place.  Great prices too.  Be sure to make a reservation!

    Thanks Claude!!
