$35 lunch special for FACIALS! 45mins worth
I personally don't like facials EXCEPT for the blackhead extraction. the entire process was interesting. having your face with steam blowing at me for a good 10 minutes sucks! its really hard to breathe :/ then later the part that "hurts" i was totally scared because i was imagining something WAY worst, but turns out after the steam to your face, there is a tool, that she just presses REALLY hard onto ur face and i guess the blackheads just pop out. by the time i was done, Lillian lifted the tissue of my eyes and said "oh! i made you cry linda, im so sorry!" it hurt ... a lot ... enough for tears roll down my face :[
after i left, full 45 minutes, my face was totally soft, clean, and happy! =)
if they just had a procedure to remove blackheads i think they would make a lot more money ... faster. hahah

I went for the lunch special facial. Overall, for the price, the experience was a solid 4 stars.
pros:
all the steps of a regular facial, without the hefty price
extractions were painful but done fairly well
clean and simple decor
decent service
good location (for me, anyway)
Having said that, this is not the place if you want the "spa experience." It can sometimes be loud and I would have preferred a little more communication from Vicki. They were also not ready for me-- had to wait almost 10 minutes for my appointment.
But next time I need a facial, I will be back.
I had a really great experience at Lavender Beauty Spa. I came here to get a classic facial. I've gotten facials at other places and they just massaged my face. But at Lavender Beauty Spa, I felt like my pores were thoroughly cleansed and extracted. Afterwards, my skin felt really soft. The staff was also really friendly and informative about all their products.
I will definitely come back.
PROS: The guy at the front desk was cool and very accommodating. The esthetician who gave me the wax was sweet.
CONS: Although being sweet is great what it really boils down to is customer service and thoroughness. First off, she didn't use any powder to help keep the wax from sticking and subsequently there was a lot of wax that was not removed from my skin. But that could also be from the half-assed job she did on trying to remove the wax. She was debating with me when I asked for my brows to be trimmed down a little and when we were done she just left the room and I had to find my own way back to the receptionist to pay. I guess I am extra picky regarding customer service since I am in a similar industry. Basically this place was much farther than I had originally thought, who knew Fremont was that big, but even if it was around the corner I wouldn't go back.
This place is AWESOME!!!!!!!!
All the employees are super nice! They never make me feel unwelcomed. Always work around my schedule..... I just love this place! They do a great job! Keep it up! Thanks for all you do!
I love Lilian!! :) She's my go to girl when I have any blemishes that pop up from time to time. With the silkpeel dermalinfusion facial, i'm cleansed, super exfoliated (better than microdermabrasion), extracted (ouch!!), masked (depending on your skin type), and then moisturized and I'm out the door in one hour flat. She's a good conversationalist if you're looking for someone to distract you during the extractions. The place uses Skinceauticals products. It's a cute spot but it's not all dressed up with flowers and candles, etc, so don't expect it. Just make an appointment with Lilian and expect to walk out satisfied because you got exactly what you came in for. :)
I was immediately attracted to the enviornment when I first entered, very nice and cozy place, with light music that makes you feel relaxed..the staffs are friendly. Lilian was the person who did the facial for me. she's really friendly, experienced and recommended me which treatment I should get based on my skin condition. I tried out the gel peel treatment for the first time, and it turned out pretty good..it reduces my blemishes and existing pimples..I'd recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get pampered :)
Lois ^.^
I'm an impulse waxer. I wait until the last possible minute to make an appointment because I hate getting it done but wake up one morning and realize that...damn...I need a wax.
Plus, it's so warm out and I'm going to the pool.
I've been going elsewhere and had forgotten about Lavender until recently and since they were one of the places with available timeslots, I quickly made an appointment with Lilian (Jane no longer works there).
She quickly and efficiently cleaned up my bikini area. I was literally in then out in about 15 minutes! She made nice small talk, was friendly, efficient, and complimented me on my jewelry too. Thanks!
The front desk girl was also really nice. I'll be back because $25 for a bikini wax (really more like an extended bikini wax) or $55 for a Brazilian really can't be beat.
Yay for warm pool weather. Nay for the extra pain it involves.

After moving back to San Jose after graduating college in LA, for the past few months I've been… Read more »
Lavendar has a couple of things going for it -- it's cheap and the blue wax they use is pretty good (it's similar to the Bliss wax, but not quite that pain-free). And the staff is fairly nice.
But then there are the negatives. I'm always, always kept waiting when I arrive. And I've always hated the little paper thongs that spas give out for bikini waxes, but at least they offer the pretense of coverage. At Lavender, they've always just had me...out there. It's definitely not a place for the shy.
But the biggest issue I have is that I've seen different waxers double-dip the applicator sticks, which grosses me out. And at the end of the wax, they bring out a roller bottle which was applied directly to my skin. I wonder how many other people that bottle has touched. Not okay.
So, although the price is right, I'm going to have to stop going to Lavender.
Don't have a lot of experience in this realm, but my gf stopped in and convinced me to get a facial. So being a virgin to this type of thing i was a bit nervous and tense about the whole process. I got the classic facial which according to the gf was a steal and great value. The staff was great and really talked me down to enjoy the experience. I have to give kudos to the massage which was the best part, and even though i'm not certain what the effects are supposed to be i do feel my skin is clean smooth and refreshed. Service was superb and the whole experience def exceeded my expectations.
oh and the receptionists are hot.
I went to Lavender Beauty Spa for a facial and some waxing. I've never received a facial before so I'm not sure what the standard is. It was pretty comfortable and I almost fell asleep until she started popping my pimples. That hurt like a mother.
The waxing was..it hurt. My arm had allergic reactions to the wax too. I had little red lumps on my arm for my wedding. yaye..the price was decent but for that price, I wish it was more painless...so...would I go again? hm...no.
The ambiance is nice and the masseuse/waxing person was nice too.
I love going here for their 'lunch hour facials' which is $35, its available Tues-Fri from 11am-2:30 I believe? when I can get off early from work this is where I head =). My favorite esthetician is Lillian. She is wonderful and very nice.
Best deal ever!!
My experience with this spa was very positive. The woman who did my facial was was friendly and gave useful tips. The decor is simple and pleasing and the service good.
Competitive pricing, especially for Bikini waxing, Liam is quite nice and very thorough compared to other spas/beauticians i went to.
Went for a classic facial cause saw the review on yelp...it turned out ok, was trying to relax but couldn't at all cause the lady kept turn on/off the water all the time...and after the facial, my eyes has been watering for an hour...
UPDATE:***********************UPDATE************** ****
After my horrible experience a couple months ago, I was happily surprised when the owner contacted me via Yelp and offered me a complete refund. I called in to verify the date and card number, and he credited it back right away and apologized for the bad job. He also offered 20% off my next service if I wanted to give them another try. I don't think they could have handled it better! Thanks Lavender Day Spa for taking care of even an unhappy customer. I know they could have just brushed it off....but they really went out of there way to patch things up! I really appreciated it!
************************************************** ****************
Hoping to find a place for waxing closer to my house...I strayed from my normal waxer (Meena at Annahita in Berkeley) and I definitely felt the consequences!
My waxer didn't introduce herself, muttered instructions to me, no conversation whatsoever. She fretted about running out of wax, yet left gobs of it all over my legs and bikini.....as well as lots of missed hairs. I looked like a wreck afterwards. It was also much more painful then Meena (who is nearly painless).
I should have known better. Back to Berkeley and Meena I go!
I decided to get a facial today and happily called Lavender, since I work close by.
I scheduled an appointment for noon and didn't know they had a lunch time special and was quite surprised when my total was only $35 for 45 minutes.
Now..let's talk about my facial. The steaming took a very long time and I thought I was going to die from breathing all that hot air, but I somehow managed to fall asleep. And then I was fully waken up when she started that painful extracting of the pores with her deadly tool.
Yes..that hurt.
I cried. Just a little.
I am a huge fan of Lillian and Lavender! Lillian is not only extremely knowledgeable about skin care but also knows exactly what to do to restore your beauty. Lillian is so amazing. Her skill with skincare is exceptional. It's so nice to find someone who really loves what they are doing, and is great at it. Since I started seeing Lillian about years ago, I have noticed a big improvement in my skin. What makes it better...
Lillian is a delightful person and such a pleasure I was so relaxed I dozed off! Thank you Lillian and please keep up the great work!
I did it and I stinkin' love it!
This was round 2 of my brazilian wax experience, round 1 being absolutely terrifying because I got it done elsewhere. But I decided to wise up and go to Lavender since all my friends rave about this place.
I had Vicki when I went and she was absolutely adorable! I was sweating like a fat pig on the bed, getting flashbacks of the pain and suffering I went through the first time I decided to get a brazilian. Vicki was very professional, clean, sweet, and hilarious! She was poking fun of me the whole time, and the laughing portion of the whole experience really helped ease the pain. Actually, there really wasn't any pain when I did it this time. Vicki used this blue wax that makes a HUGE difference. My skin didn't swell up and I was 100% pain-free that evening!
I even befriended Vicki on Facebook, hahahaa. I know, I know. But 5 stars for the service, the cleanliness, the professionalism, and the whole shabang!
The staff is always courteous, detailed, and accommodating. I've never left feeling I didn't get more than my money's worth. In fact, I usually end up over-tipping every single time.
So, this was my first experience with waxing (this was at least 2 years ago). My esthetician was very sweet and made me feel very comfortable. HOWEVER, in the middle of my Brazilian (which took almost 2 hours!) she mentioned how much she hates waxing! BAD! Don't say that to your customer!
Strike #2- I recommended my best friend to her.. I was able to look past the comment and focused on how comfortable I was with her. BAD! My friend now refuses to get Brazilians! Apparently, the wax had been placed improperly and upon being ripped, took off a little more than the hair. OUCH!
To sum it up, sweet esthetician, not-so-good waxing!
After a terrible experiance of giving myself a brazillian at home, I swore that I would just leave it to the professionals to get rid of my bush down there..lols..
I have been going here for months now, and have finally decided to write a review. Each and every time that I have gone in, Vicki has been the person to wax me. I guess another time around, I came in a little bit earlier during the week so I finally met Lillian. I had heard about Lillian but never had her work on me before. I think both gals are really great, but I think I prefer Vicki better. Vicki just seemed to take her time with me, yet would still be able to get me out of there in under 30mins.
Love this place, so Im so sad that I'll be moving down south soon and would have to go in a lengthy search for the right brazillian waxer again..Oh wells, wish me luck =(
Ok, I admit it. Not only do I detest wearing underwear (but I do it faithfully, every day...you never know when you'll be in a car accident!) but I hate wearing anything below the belt...hair included. Yes, I have issues. But I also have a damn good place to get that hair ripped off with wax!
For those of you who have never been here, each of the ladies has a little bit of her own technique. Lillian takes off smaller strips of hair at once, and Jane seems to take off the most at a time. Whichever method is more painful is up to you and your nerve endings. The green wax they use is fantastic, and doesn't stick to your skin like sugar wax.
The place is clean, but I recommend keeping your socks on just in case you step on any wax spots on the carpet. Everyone is friendly and professional, even when you're on the table, doggy style.
I had the Silkpeel DermalInfusion. I had not planned on having one, but I was open to suggestion. I didn't feel the glow that I usually get after a facial.
I have never had such a treatment before, so I was expecting facial massage along with the treatment. But no, they don't do that with this one.
I should have had the classic or organic facial. Oh well next time!
The girl who did my facial had a very pleasant demeanor, but I have had better service at a spa. Its the details, which they didn't have.
I am learning that this is a very good treatment and gives you a very smooth skin. I don't see a drastic change. Maybe something I will notice tomorrow in daylight. Thats my hope for spending $95.
I would definitely go back to try their other treatments.
I just got a Brazilian wax here. Not as painful as the strips and not as awkward.
As I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. Not "What you want?" Or "What you need honey?"
This place is clean and has several separate rooms Unlike other places, where there'd be little itty bitty hairs everywhere on the bed, my bed was very clean. My sister told me to go to Vicky. She's awesome. I'll definitely come back!!!
I've been going to this place for years and for some reason, today was the best facial i've EVER had... anywhere.
Due to my large pores, Lilian recommended that I get the Silk Peel with LED Light Therapy. I will forever be thankful to Lilian for introducing me to this, for my pores are small now!!! Never in a million years would I ever have thought that was possible. I even get compliments on my skin now!
Yes, the treatments are little more pricey than the Classic Facial, but its SOOOOOOOOO worth it. So worth it, that I come back every month religiously.
Damn my skin looks and feels good right now...
I would say 4.5 stars. I love this place!! Every experience except for one has been worth every penny (that one time, she was too gentle). My esthetician left so I'm no longer a regular. However, I'm going to try out Lillian since two of my friends say she's the closest in style and technique to Jane. The extraction part is the only reason I pay money for a facial. I have large pores so they clog easily. Many other places get the job done but are too rough or left some scar or irritation and if too gentle, I leave feeling like I just got my face washed. After an appt. w/ Lavender, my skin's so smooth and looks great! It's the employees that make a salon. I've used 4 different women for facials here and each one has done a great job.
Pros- Prices are reasonable. $65 for a 1.5 hour facial. Even less if you purchase a pkg. The salon is clean and relaxing. Employees take the time to listen and cater the facial to your needs.
Cons-Minus a 0.5 star for the early hours and they don't always pick up the phone for appts. or don't always call back when you leave a message.
Also, if you've never been to Lavender or if you're a newbie to facials, try calling for a lunchtime weekday appt. I think they have a special rate at that time.
My friend referred this place for facials, and when I went for the first time, the staff and aestheticians were friendly, informative, and considerate. The facility is well kept and the ambiance is inviting. I'll definitely be going back.
After reading the reviews I decided to go come to Lavender for the Brazillian.
I've had Brazillians before but this place is like no other...mainly due to the esthetician/waxer, Lillian.
Lillian is absolutely amazing! She makes a painful procedure as painless as possible, and makes sure that you walk away as bare as the day you were born.
Lavender is my to-go spot for my beauty needs.
I came here for a Brazilian and the woman who waxed me struck me as a little odd. The first thing she did was ask me if I wanted to take it all off or leave a little because people don't tell her these things in advance and then they get all upset when she removes it all. Oookaay...This woman had no finesse and slapped on the wax (it was one of those waxes that don't use strips) and ripped everything off in about three applications. Ouch. It's really not that the wax itself was bad, it was the fact that she removed so much in one shot. Overall, not impressed and will not return.
I'm a first time brazilian waxee!! This was actually my first place of choice and I'm glad that I went along with this place. This place is small but has a lot of potential and great people. Lillian was my brazilian waxer! She was great and I recommend her for your first time. I told her it was my first time and she accepted it and ran through the process with me. She also made sure that I was comfortable and gave me step-by-step instructions on what was going on. She converses with you about anything and makes you steer your pain elsewhere but definitely lets you know when and where it'll hurt. $55 for brazilian. I recommend this place!! I'm clean and it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would be!!
After six months in the Valley (as in, Silicon), I came to a realization: San Mateo and Berkeley have officially become way too far for me to venture out once a month for a Brazilian wax. My hair on top is one thing - I go to Grasshopper Salon in SF and regardless of where in the Bay Area I may move, I'll never give up Hung because I love him to death and my hair is super bangin' - but my nether regions are another. As far as bikini waxes go, it's really all about convenience, since only one other person benefits from it - so why make the process any more complicated than it has to be?
Anyway, Lavender was the only place that called me back with availability for appointments - and to my utter delight, when I mapquested it, I found out it was one exit away from where I work. It's a cute little oasis of a spot located within a strip mall that caters to mostly Asian clientele. Jane was my esthetician, and she talked to me pretty much the entire time she waxed, which some people might find distracting but I personally welcome it because I'd rather hear conversation over the sound of hot wax being ripped off my crotch any day.
Past waxers I've had used white strips with hot honey wax, but Jane had this green wax stuff that she put on, let harden, and then quickly ripped off. It was the most painless - and yet one of the most thorough - waxes I have ever had. It was also interesting in terms of positions - I've had to contort myself silly for bikini waxes before, but this was truly the first time anyone had asked me to straight up bend over on all fours in a non-sexual context. I felt like I was in a 2 Live Crew video, but it was more funny to me than anything. I'm very easily amused.
At the end of it all, she handed me a mirror, and it was a very thorough job, which I reaped the benefits of later that night. THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID IT.
Not bad for $50. I'll be back next month for sure.
I'm leaving for Mexico in a week and a half. I started thinking, "I suppose I'll need to wear a bathing suit soon..." which led me to think, "I guess I'm going to need to go in for a bikini wax..." which then led me to Yelp.
It seems that we have a little jewel in Fremont! I booked an appointment with Jane, and she is just as sweet and professional as everyone has said that she is! Also, the waxing didn't hurt as much as I'm used to. You're talking to someone who used to work in a beauty salon where I got my waxing done for free, and I've been getting them done for, oh, 20 years. Yes, I'm THAT old, mofo.
Anyway, Jane made the experience pleasant, and easy. Also, they have these little paper thongs, which I've NEVER seen before, and the greatest part is that you don't get any wax on your panties! Nice!
The other cool thing is that she gave me a very nice brow wax as well, and I didn't break out! Usually I'll break out in these little tiny bumps, but that didn't happen!!! She felt bad letting me leave with a very red face, so she put some aloe vera gel on me, as well as sunscreen, and the gentle movements of her fingers around my eyes relaxed me to the point of wishing I was staying for a facial... needless to say, I'm scheduled for a facial next week.
:-)
Oh yeah, and the cost was half of what I was paying before.
Hooray for Jane!
I never thought that I would say this about somebody who ripped hairs from my nether-regions, but Jane deserves *way more* than 5 stars. I could not have asked for a better first experience with a Brazilian wax. Jane was fabulous.
Thanks to the other yelperettes for their extremely positive and informative reviews that helped me muster up the courage to go to lavender and get my first Brazilian there.
I have to say, it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Yes, it was painful, but I was expecting worse - Jane was glad I didn't scream...I guess some people scream...
Jane was VERY thorough. She also put me at ease immediately - she was extremely easy to talk to and even had me laughing while she was working. I also liked that the table I was laying on was heated, that helped me stay relaxed as well.
Even though I was prepared for it from the other reviews, I didn't have to get on all fours.
The blue wax is great and I still have all of my skin :oP
I also have to praise the overall customer service. I had called to make my appointment and left a message and the receptionist returned my call within the hour and was pleasant to speak with. When I got to lavender, the gentleman at the reception desk was also pleasant.
I think I'll be a regular customer from now on.
Read all the testimonials about Jane. This is a bad place and Jane is not a facial expert. She rushed through my facial and kept yapping about how her "Organic Facial" products were expensive (stuff that she was using on me for $ 75/ facial). I couldn't relax because of the stupid blabber and she didn't massage my face or neck.
She told me that I had blackheads that need to be removed and then said she is sorry but now she cannot really massage my face because it is irritated by extractions. What!!! My cousin is a beautician in NY and she thinks that is the most absurd lie. The fact is they had scheduled another appointment back to back and although I was 5 mins early they couldn't give me a face or even neck message. Her logic was that because she couldn't give me a face message, she cannot really give me a neck massage either. I had no time to argue but I decided to write an honest review. I am sure she has admirers here and may be she has been good to them. My experience was poor.
THANK GAWD FOR YELP. As I am not sure if the other "god" had anything to do with it.
Not sure where to bring my personal business to. Who wants to go into a new place and trust their bodies to someone with hot wax dripping from a stick ready to slather on you and strip away hairs from your cha-cha? Well...it's scary. But, Yelp, you held my hand.
Lillian at Lavender Beauty Spa kicks waxing butt! She's friendly, meticulous, curteous, and really makes you relax. I had very very little pain during the brazilian, and didn't leave with any pain afterwards.
Front desk dude was awesome. Super nice.
Location...in Milpitas in a totally asian-land strip-center. But, you go inside and it is up-to-date, clean, and soothing.
I'll be back Lillian!
It has been almost 2 years and I still see Lillian every few weeks for my Brazilian. I have see other waxers at Lavender and I can only say that Lillian is the one that gives me perfect results. She is thorough and patient with me. She is extremely professional and she makes me very comfortable. I will continue to see Lillian and Lillian ONLY for my Brazilian needs hee hee...

This was my first PROFESSIONAL brazilian wax. I was expecting the pain but LILLIAN made me feel… Read more »
Another Update: Ok I went here a couple days ago to get a facial for my friend's upcoming wedding. They took me in the same day, which was rare and awesome. Lilian did my facial and she was very sweet. She remembered me, probably because of my negative review below lol. I know sometimes people have bad days so I think everyone deserves a second chance. I'm glad I came back, she did a wonderful job. Although, they didn't mention anything about ridding my previous scars, which are still there...
UPDATE: I'm going to have to go down another star. I contacted them several times about the scars on my face. They never got back to me to schedule the supposed consultation to see what they could do about what THEY did to my face. Never going here again for anything, there are several other great salons around here.
I got my first facial here a few weeks ago with my friend. It was great! I got the classic facial and liked it, except the cleaning with the scraping thing part. It HURTS. But I guess beauty does right? Jane did my friend's face and boy was he glowing like nothing. I forgot who did mine...she didn't clean my face too much but focused on the massage..which was nice too. We got a lot of looks after that :) It's a bit pricey though and they don't have packages or anything....We'll definitely be going back though to try the rest of the facials and what not!
OK UPDATE: I went to get waxed here yesterday (I can't afford laser yet! haha) anyways....Jane used the blue wax which was awesome, it barely hurt. Well at least a lot less than what I was expecting. It came out pretty clean, but she did use a tweezer to get some of the little hairs... The price is very high...And when I got home I saw a whole bunch of little hairs still there. I don't think I'll get waxed here again...I'll stick to my epilator until I save up for laser... Oh and the week before I went in for a classic facial, well she didn't do a good job of cleaning my nose...that was a bit dissapointing....Maybe I'll try them once before going elsewhere, it might have just been a bad day for her that once....
Second UPDATE: OK I went in for an organic facial to get the 'glow' for my sister's engagement party. The extraction really hurt this time, but she said I had a lot of blackheads that were visible under the magnifier. So I thought nothing of it and went home. I rinsed my face when I got home and saw like several holes with blood all over my cheeks and chin. They were like literally tiny holes in my face. Not cool.
So I think maybe it will be OK the next morning since it takes awhile for the effects to kick in. I wait two, three, four days. Now they've turned into brown spots. PERMANENT brown scars. I am so disapointed, I really enjoyed lavendar spa, everyone was nice, it was clean, all awesome. Until this. I called and all I got was that I had deep extractions. I didn't pay to have my face scarred up. I'm still contemplating what to do about this... Even the strongest concealer doesn't completely cover them. I hate looking at my cheeks now :(
***EDIT****
I've called and confirmed... Jane is gone. waahh. WHY Jane why?! this is blasphemy. I feel so abandoned.
I have yet to make an appointment with Vicki
I go here for brazilian waxes though i havent gone recently because I'm a starving student that drives an SUV. This is the first place I have gotten my Brazilian wax and it just may be the last place. Lavender is so far away from my home, since i live in south san jo but I will drive allll the way to Fremont so that Jane can get me all some like a baby bottom.
I remember the first time i went . It was later in the evening and probably December 23rd or even the 24th and they still accommodated me! :D Jane really made me feel at ease because shes easy to talk to and she is very very sweet and kind.
The room was clean and the bed was nice and warm so that i could relax a bit more. Jane used blue wax sans the cloth strips which was totally fine. And she cleans me alll up. Too bad she didnt leave me with anything else like a landing strip or some cute design. But Im alllllways happy with her work. When shes all done she hands me a mirror to show me and damn I looked like a 10 year old down there.
I loved going here and I really dont mind paying here $50 for it because it is absolutely worth it. I've also brought friends there too!
I should go back soon because I was really desperate one day and I took a razor down there. talk about fire crotch. I was itching like crazy. big mistake. When you Brazilian wax, your pubes grow out all soft. its insane.
Next time I visit Lavander, I want to try their facials. :)
I come here for Brazilian waxes. See Aivy's review. She pretty much sums it all up! They constantly try out the most new and improved/advanced waxes. I like the green wax they use that hardens because it just holds onto the hair and doesn't rip off a layer of your skin like the cloth strips do. My waxer Jane is fantastic, funny, and friendly. She is very easy to talk to and makes you feel totally comfortable. And yes, they make you go on all fours. (I think she knows me better than my gyno. hahahah!) When you go in, Kenny, the owner, is most likely working in the front. For $50, they do a great job.
I used to go to Nilou in Saratoga, and although she is GREAT, $70 for a Brazilian wax is way too much. Plus she still uses cloth strips. I got my first Brazilian there and I think I lost the first three layers of my skin down there. Ouch!
